Standing Up For Herself

Twilight was resting in her castle with Spike since her friends were busy elsewhere, she was glad that she had some alone time as she had time to sleep or read a book, she could do anything she wanted. So she sat down and wrote a short story for herself.

As she was writing her short story her cutie mark flashed which meant that the map was summoning her to solve a problem, she didn't want to go anywhere that minute so it particularity annoyed her that she had to deal with a friendship problem. She groaned as she sat up and walked to the table and saw a holographic projection of her cutie mark.

She saw that the holographic projection of her cutie mark was hovering over the Crystal Empire, she did not want to go solve any friendship problem, she wondered what would happen if she refused to go, she wondered if it would disappear from the map if she refused.

She was not going to go, she wondered why ponies couldn't deal with their problems themselves instead of needing help from the mane six. She was getting annoyed that it still alerted her to the problem, she wanted a way to turn it off but she was unable to since it was magic.

Her other friends came running to the map and saw that Twilight's cutie mark was hovering over the Crystal Empire,they knew that they were going to get into an argument if she said she wasn't going to go, she decided to say it anyway.

"I know where the map is calling me but before you even suggest that I go then I straight out refuse, this is supposed to be my day off, I'm not going, I did a lot of work yesterday! Can't I get damn break around here?" Twilight complained, her friends were surprised that Twilight was refusing to help a pony with a problem as that wasn't like here.

"But Twilight the map is calling you to solve the problem, the problem requires your magic and your knowledge, you can't just send somepony that the map doesn't require as the map isn't calling anypony else but you alone!" Rarity exclaimed.

"I don't care it's my day off, I work every day and I'm sick of it, why can't I get a break!? Can't somepony go in my place!? Because I am not leaving this castle, I want to hang out and just relax, I'm a princess I can do what want! I shouldn't have to solve stuff I don't have to solve I want to stand up for myself! Its my right!" Twilight ranted. Her friends knew that Twilight didn't want to talk about it as Twilight left, they tried to plead with her but she entered her room and then she closed her bedroom door shut.

Her friends stood there awkwardly after Twilight's refusal to solve the problem, Starlight entered the room and wondered what was going on, she looked at the table and she looked at her friends.

"Where's Twilight?" She asked, they told her that Twilight didn't want to solve the problem and that was when Starlight offered to solve it as she was similar to Twilight in a lot of ways, her friends hesitated but they allowed her to go so she went off to go and solve the problem for Twilight.

Twilight was extremely greatful for Starlight as she didn't have to go somewhere, she just hoped that Starlight didn't have any trouble solving the problem, Starlight came back later that night while all her friends were asleep, the next day Twilight saw Starlight eating breakfast. She felt awkward as she felt like that Starlight was forced to solve a problem she didn't have to solve. Twilight wondered if she should say anything.

"Hey Starlight...I'm sorry you had to solve the problem that was mine as I didn't want to do it but thanks for solving it though, I hope your not angry." Twilight said, she then turned around and walked away in shame, Starlight stopped her and turned her around, she made Twilight look at her.

"Twilight just listen for a few minutes, I'm not angry at you! You didn't want to solve the problem as you felt like you needed alone time and to be honest you made the right choice, in fact you learned a very important lesson about self respect and even if your friends don't agree with me on this it's true!" Starlight said, Twilight tried to think about what she was talking about but then she realized what the lesson is.

"I learned that it's great that I help ponies solve their problems but I should always respect myself and my needs first even if somepony's don't like that fact, that even if I have to do something I don't have to be forced and I have the right to put my needs first?" Twilight asked, Starlight smiled as she nodded.

"That's correct and even if this lesson is controversial and even if your friends argue with you about this later you make sure to remember and tell your friends that to you should be respected because you should matter as equally as ponies that you are helping and as equally as your friends!" Starlight said, Twilight smiled and hugged her.

"Thanks Starlight!" Twilight hugged her, when their friends got back Twilight told them what she learned and it evolved into an argument as Twilight's friend that Twilight didn't learn self respect as what she did was selfish and self respect was different from that but Starlight told all of them to leave Twilight alone.

Her friends decided to not mind what Twilight did, they told her that they understood what she did as they understood what Starlight said later on. Twilight promised to solve the next problem that requested her appearance but she also said that she would refuse any problem she didn't want to solve when she didn't feel like it.
