CalendAr shouted to his apprentice. Coming over a hill SunBlaze dodged her way through the chaotic city, it wasn't until she could see a large black shadow loom its way over the city that had caused ponies to panic in a frenzy of moving hooves, she didn't have time to count the fatalities that broke out but she soon found her mentor standing on another hill out side the city walls. "I'm here." SunBlaze said placing the purple rounded basket she has been levitating on the ground, all while ignoring the screams as they escalated louder in her ears. "I went back like you told me too. I have the twins and your daughter, Fallen..... Empress MoonStar..... what will happen to her? Is there any way of saving her at all? " Sun Blaze asked. Fallen looked down at his apprentice who looked up at him with her large yellow eyes that hid a orange glow. "Don't worry about it." He said holding a calm face expression. "What about everypony else? We can't just leave them here their defenseless." "I know we cant, but we can at least give them a chance to hide." FallenStar said his horn began to flash purple he shot two volts ''I want Midnight to have this, it was her mothers when she was a filly,'' Fallen said with a warm smile. ''The portal is on the other side of the of the forest of illusion, we'll take a shortcut.'' Fallen said trotting up a hill, the two raced off beyond the empire and as they ran they could do nothing to help the ponies watching their world fall apart, couples holding hoofs, parents sheltering filly's and colts who cried from the threat that can not be stopped. Fallen Star used a teleportation spell to send them halfway across their world, where the portal was activated by four creatures from neighboring universes, the sorrow look all of them had made Sun Blaze's stomach feel empty. ''Ready Fallen Star.'' said the mare on the left. Fallen pushed Sun Blaze onto the stone pad, the five lit the portal up just as the darkness appeared, the moon no longer a crystal blue but a tainted red, the portal struck a bright green, Equestria with an orange black haired stallion was on the other side. ''Red Scale.'' Sun Blaze said, she went to the portal about to enter when she paused to look at all five creatures including her mentor who taught her magic since she was a teen, this was the last time she will ever see all five guardians in one place ever again. ''Farrell my student raise my daughter well for me.'' ''I will.'' Sun Blaze sobbed. ''Take good care of my twins will you Sun Blaze.'' said the stallion standing to the right of Fallen Star. ''I'll take care of all three of them I promise.'' ''Go! Sun Blaze!'' he said, she ran back to hug his leg, warm tears formed on her face, she waved goodbye picking up the basket of foals into Equestria, another loud blast the portal closed shocking the earth. Sun wiped the tears from her eyes, she looked into the basket checking to see if the foals were okay, the twins stayed asleep but little Midnight had open her emerald green eyes too young to know that this pink mare standing over her will be her adoptive mother. Chapter 1 Midnight Equestria, one of many universes inhabited by ponies in this world, only the power of friendship and magic conquers all, but where does all this power come from? This power comes from a little town smacked dab in the middle of Equestria called PonyVille, where ponies of every kind live in peace, from the earth ponies healing the ground to the Pegasus controlling the sky in perfect harmony. But there is one place that is not in perfect harmony, on the far edge of town a two-story house was in chaos from the yelling of three siblings, twins to be exact the sister a unicorn, the brother a Pegasus, and their little sister, every day their morning starts with the parents leaving to their jobs since they could not afford a proper foalsitter asking two of their closest friends, Carrot Top and Derpy Hooves to take care of them while they worked. ''Carrot Top Night Stars throwing food at me again!'' Star Dust complained. ''He's getting food all over me.'' ''It's just a little piece.'' ''Food that is getting all over my coat, little is not the size your ego is in,'' said Star Dust. ''What's an ego?'' ''Your brain! Night Star I told you this weeks ago.'' ''Are you calling my brain small!'' ''Small enough that I need a magnifying glass to look at it better,'' Star said pushing her plate away from her obnoxious food throwing brother. ''Midnight, are you done in the bathroom yet?'' called Carrot Top.''Your foods getting cold.'' Getting up in the morning was slow for Midnight, her size was smaller than the average filly, smaller than her siblings, getting up and down tall places was a bit of a challenge when you stand at only four inches tall. ''Coming.'' Midnight said climbing off the stool she stood on, a regular Pegasus would fly off down two sets of stairs but everything to her was a giant jungle gym, with large objects to climb over and under. ''I can't believe we got kicked out of school. Said Night Star. ''We didn't get kicked out we got expelled.'' corrected Star Dust. ''If you hadn't picked a fight with that student we wouldn't be missing the new semester.'' ''He picked a fight with me first, I was nearly defending myself and defending our little sister.'' ''You don't haft to defend me, I could have handled it on my own,''said Midnight, this was the eighth time Her siblings had gotten into a fight for her sake. In school she was repeatedly teased by her lack of small wings, she was not disabled just that her school recommended she go take flying lessons but mom denied all of them, for she believed letting the child learn how to fly on their own was the best way to build a ponies self-confidence. ''By calling you names cause you have small wings, I'm glad they didn't call you blank flank.'' Night Star said he picked up his fork flicking food across the table. ''Night Star manners please.'' Carrot Top said, a knock came from the front door, Carrot Top stopped washing the dishes to go open it, a loud dizzy voice came inside with the flapping of wings, Derpy Hooves slid on the floor in her post office uniform, her hat laid tilted on her head. ''Hi, Derpy,'' said Night Star, unlike Midnight Derpy was the one who taught Night Star how to fly in the best effort way possible. ''Sorry if my routes took so long, I had to go back home to bring you guys the muffins I made,'' Derpy said bringing in a wrapped up box with orange ribbon. ''Doctor Hooves left the first batch in the oven, so I made a fresh new batch for all of you.'' "That's nice of you Derpy, um I don't think they need so many sweets in the morning.'' ''Carrot Top sweets are fun to eat in the morning,'' Derpy said. ''Not every pony can eat that many sweets as you can,'' Carrot said pulling off Derpys saddle bag. ''Unless your like Pinkie Pie.'' ''Pinkie can be the best eater at cakes, but I'm the best eater at muffins,'' Derpy replied. ''Whats the letter for mom for?'' asked Star Dust picking up the envelope for mom off the floor. "Theirs no name on here, who send the letter?'' ''I'm not an expert on letters, all I know is that the letter came from one of her friends on the other side of PonyVille.'' Being expelled wasn't all that bad for them, spring break was tomorrow meaning more time for mom to look for another school to put them in, Midnight never liked Mrs. Cheerliee's school anyway, too small for thirty-nine students, she, Star Dust, and Night star were just extra weight that was not needed. ''Their mom said that we should take you guys out to PonyVille with me today, said you needed fresh air.'' Derpy Said. ''Carrot is taking Midnight to the EveryFree forest for the first time, and I got you and Star Dust.'' Derpy said taking off her uniform.''We're going to the park.'' ''What! She gets to go to the EverFree forest and I haft to go to PonyVille, with him.'' Star said stamping a hoof on the wooden floor.''I'm staying here.'' ''No your not mom's orders,'' said Night Star, mocking his sister the way she does whenever he procrastinate about something. ''I'm older than him by a second, I can watch myself for one day.'' ''If you stay here I'm telling mom what happen to her earrings you lost last summer.'' Night Star said staring at Star Dust intensively, this is another one of their (twin) moments, where one twin threatens the other, a perfect balance in who's right and who's wrong, all one pony has to do is say something to the other to break the balance that was going between them. Star Dust grunted in defeat, Carrot Top grabbed her own saddlebag she brought to the house. The EverFree looked scarier in real life then what it did in the books, the sun was gone except the moon, a forever eternal night casting its forever shadow. Everything here either moved or flew away, the sounds made Midnight flinch. ''Here we are, the end of the trail, I could take you to the castle of the two sisters but Twilight has it blocked off.'' she said trotting off onward onto the trail, ''she and her friends are restoring the history there, maybe even turning it into a museum.'' Midnight closed out Carrot Tops talking to look at the darkened forest, Midnight remembered Mrs. Cheerliee telling the class about the dangers of the EverFree, well now she knows why, the trees here were larger, more ancient like than present, a forest stuck in time. There is a good side to this place, dad once told her the EverFree is enchanted, if you look hard enough, you'll find something no pony has ever seen. ''There it is the castle of the two sisters, isn't it amazing,'' Carrot said. Way off over the bridge an old castle in ruins blended with the rest of the forest. ''Carrot Top do you ever see things here.'' Midnight said anxiously.''Like, things that do not exist.'' ''Lots of things don't exist, I've seen plenty of those in PonyVille.'' ''Do you tell any pony?'' Midnight replied. ''No, no ponies gonna believe that I saw a big flash in the EverFree.'' Carrot Top sighed.'' They'd all think I'm crazy.'' ''What was the flash tell me Carrot Top please.'' Midnight said. ''Okay, i was 18 years old, I just graduated high school, had a house, nice area, one night I woke up looking out my window, a bright red flash shot into the sky, the ground shook, I was being shaken like a rattle, I ran for the front door to go look outside, no pony was up, next morning I knew they weren't going to believe about the flash, sure they would have felt the ground shake, though, they didn't feel the earth shake like I did, now I keep it a secret, I'm no ordinary carrot farmer, I met Derpy a year later and she told me about the flash too and then we met your mother etc.'' ''Sounds cool, did you tell mom about the flash too?'' ''No, she never saw it.'' Carrot Top said. She reached into her saddlebag taking out the box of muffins Derpy made, handing one to Midnight while staring at the old castle. ''Don't tell your siblings I gave you the muffins,''Carrot said. ''They think I'm having the best time ever, I'm really being spoiled.'' Midnight said, she looked on wondering how her siblings day been going, she knew Star Dust if she were there would not be happy, and Night Star causing trouble. Author's Note listen to music while u read:3 Chapter 2 StarDustCenter of PonyVille was the least place Star wanted to be in, she could have been sitting back at the house on dads lounging chair reading, no, she was supposedly forced into going to the center of PonyVille with her brother, of all ponies he could do more damage than Derpy. ''Sun blaze told me to pick up a few things for her, once I'm done it's off to the park,'' Derpy said. ''Yes, I get to try out new tricks I've been coming up with.'' Night Star said. ''How are tricks so important, you just fly in random circles.'' Star Dust said in annoyance.'' Derpy can I please go to a library.'' ''Your jealous because you can't fly, tricks are the (art) of flying, it helps with your reputation in school and in PonyVille,'' he said gliding side to side, Star hated that he was a mixture of dumb and smart, he had no reputation in school or in PonyVille with his bad temperament issues, with the causing outbreaks of fights. ''Star come on it'll be fun, theirs lots of fun things to do at the park,'' Derpy said. ''There's nothing fun about the park, its birds, trees, flowers, and ponies doing nothing.'' stammered Star Dust. Derpy sighed. ''You get in trouble I'm not telling your mother it was my fault, meet back here before sunset please,''Derpy said flying off with her brother. ''Now for a little me time.'' PonyVille was filled with places that were more interesting than the park, that was her younger self's favorite thing to do, shes twelve years old now, twin stuff was an old thing she use to say when she was younger, playing with Night Star as foals the park was a magic wonder land as a kid, Star Dust followed her brother everywhere he went, always getting them in trouble for the silliest of things, getting her stuck in holes looking for buried treasure, or putting her up in a tree to look for sky pirates, a story dad told them at bedtime, she'd use her magic to get herself down, mom would be at the bottom so angry at them, the punishments were the casual timeouts, Night Star used to turn timeouts into (fun) outs playing who can stay quiet and not laugh the longest, they both would lose every round the pony who did not laugh the most got to eat the cake mom hid in the fridge for them, good memories. Enlisting her things to do trotting through PonyVille she caught sight of Mrs Cheerlie walking her class down to the town square, recognizing the student that Night Star picked a fight with a brown cult with green hair named Cinnamon Sprinkle, his leg wrapped in bandages in a cast after the damage Night Star did he didn't know that this unicorn had a crush on her since kindergarten, Star Dust did not have feelings for this pony since Star was a year older than him. As the class walked by some of the students pointed whispering about how she and her brother will never graduate, Mrs. Cheerliee never made eye contact. ''Hey, StarDust.'' Cinnamon Sprinkle said waving to her, the earth pony hobbled his three legs towards StarDust, she regretted not leaving the park with Derpy and night Star. ''Hey,.......Cinnamon Sprinkle, hows, your leg.'' Star Dust stuttered. ''The doctor said I'll be fine in two weeks. Is your brother still mad at me.?'' Cinnamon asked.'' I went off on my own to find something to do, what are you doing here?'' ''Mrs. Cheerlie is taking us on another boring field trip,'' Cinnamon said looking at his class stopping at a shop. ''Your brother is a really strong fighter,'' Cinnamon said ruffling his green mane. ''He has anger issues. You should catch up with your class.'' Star said. ''I know, hey tell Midnight I'm sorry,'' Cinnamon said hobbling off to catch up with his moving class. ''Cinnamon Sprinkle.'' StarDust called. ''I'll get my mom to send an apology letter, okay.'' ''Thanks,'' Cinnamon replied. Though StarDust didn't have any attraction to Cinnamon Sprinkle, she certainly had no attraction to any pony at all reaching her preteen years. ''Night Star would not understand, I've been into fights too,'' she said levitating the fruit in the air the stallion working at the fruit cart leaned over eyeing her to see if she'd put it back or steal it. '' You having problems too aye.'' ''Yeah, my brother thinks he can fight every pony that gets on his nerves, I'm a fighter too but it's not the way he sees it. I've gotten into fights Night Star would never win, I use the power of words to fight back, he uses the power of his hooves instead, Are we even the same anymore.'' Star said looking at the fruit she held one side showed her reflection the another showed a smudged spot a pot that was meant to represent her brother. ''You going to buy that?'' asked the shopkeeper. ''No sir.'' StarDust replied. ''Nah you can keep it, I have twins foals of my own back home, I grew up in a family full of twins, my twin sings and travels Equestria, his visits are once a year.'' ''Thank you, sir, may I ask what your name is?'' ''Hawk Cactus, aye don't let a little miss hap between you and your brother keep you apart, next time you get into an argument look him in the eye tell him this. I'm just like you, I breathe the same air as you, I was born the same time as you even if I was born by a second, we share the same DNA, we are one in the same." ''Think my brother will listen to this,'' Star asked. ''He's your twin, he'll listen.'' the shopkeeper said. StarDust ate the fruit Hawk Cactus gave her trotting out of town square into down town PonyVille, the richer side as mom called it, unicorns from Canterlot come to PonyVille, not for the nice friendly ponies and neighbors, they moved here to make a profit off the place, bringing with them expensive items mom can never afford, including the houses more of a neighborhood of mansions, yards were decorated all nice and pretty with flowers, the bushes shaped into animals, her mother knew a few earth ponies who were rich, not that she wished her family were rich, no common pony comes down here. The neighborhood had a quiet absence of ponies. Star Dust did not find her brother nor Derpy back at the exact same spot Derpy told them to meet them at in the time square. ''Where are they?'' Star Dust questioned. The ponies here were enjoying a calm afternoon relaxing taking a break from morning rush hour, she canters to Hawk Cactus's fruit stand Cactus laid leaned back in his chair. ''Hawk Cactus, did you so happen to see a grey Pegasus with a dark blue cult flying around?'' she asked. Cactus looked down at her from his fruit stand. ''Grey Pegasus with walled eyes.'' ''Yes her have you seen her?'' StarDust answered. ''I so did happen to see them, they came running by chasing some mysterious red cult down the street,'' Hawk said pointing in the direction leading back to the house. Galloping down the street she tried out the teleportation spell her dad taught her, she wasn't sure it will fully work, furthermore she needed to catch up to them faster, in this case, the distance between them and the house they'd already be there at Pegasus speed, Star needed to go by unicorn speed, by using a spell that big would take up all her energy. Her mom told her that when she was still in school, every year one unicorn out of a thousand will succeed perfecting this spell, she was one of them, mom used the transportation spell once, Night Star got sick during class last year, triggering an instinct all mothers had, her mom teleported herself across PonyVille at such a great speed she caused a dent to appear in the school yard, with no exhaustion, mom broke the door down, a sense of rage on moms face, Mrs. Cheerlie did not bother notifying her that he had gotten sick causing her moms mane to explode into flames almost setting the school on fire, every student screamed in the classroom, thankfully she had the money to replace the door, telling Star Dust it was a magic outburst, a unicorn filled with anger, their mane will ignite like fire, having lasting effects on the area the unicorn was standing in, Star being a preteen is close to reaching that stage. ''Celestia help me,'' Star said before a purple ora consumed Star Dust, feeling her body heat up in the mist of the flash, ended up in the backyard of the house, running through the back door, through the living room and out the front, in the yard Night Star wrestled in grass with the red cult Hawk Cactus told her about. ''Night Star!'' ''I can explain this.'' Night Star said pinning down the cult with both hooves. All of a sudden a scream echoed from the back of the house, ''Derpy!'' coming to a halt in front of them, Carrot Top had come back without her sister Carrots body bled from huge wounds on her body. ''Carrot Top what happen!'' ''Midnight i.... I lost her in the EverFree!'' Chapter 3 NightStar''You lost Midnight in the EverFree!'' yelled NightStar still pinning down the young pegasus. ''It was an accident.... I was taking Midnight back to the house when these (things) came out and attacked us!'' ''What things came out and attacked you? Where is our the sister!'' said Night Stars sister. ''Get off me!'' said the pony under him, NightStar almost forgot he caught the thief, during him and Derpys little goose chase, while they were in PonyVille, Derpy was buying ingredients with her already heavy saddlebag for her muffins, this red cult with a green mane and blue eyes snatched it, they ran after him, abandoning that Derpy had to go get Star Dust from PonyVille. ''Every pony calm down, Carrot Top where was the last place you were with Midnight?'' questioned Derpy? ''The castle of the two sisters,'' Carrot said. ''There! Why did you take her there?'' asked Derpy. ''Excuse me, what do we do with this guy?'' Night Star said. Star Dust walked to him gazing down at the guy he had wrestled. ''Who is he?'' she asked. ''He's the guy who stole my saddlebag,'' Derpy said... Star levitated Derpys saddlebag out of the ponies hooves, giving it back to Derpy. ''Why did you steal this from our foalsitter?'' ''If you get your brother off me I'll tell you.'' the cult replied Night star let him go only to be pinned against a tree by his sisters magic. ''Foalsitter, I thought she was your mom.'' the cult said. ''What the, eh, she's not my mom.'' NightStar said Thunder tilted his head in confusion. ''What did you think just because she's a Pegasus you'd just assume she was my mom, not every Pegasus have kids off the same species.'' Night said. ''You still didn't answer my question, who are you, why did you steal from our foalsitter.'' Star Dust said getting up to the Pegasus face. ''My name is ThunderCloud. I stole the bag cause last time I stole from some pony I was almost caught, please don't tell the guards, I only stole it for my little sister.'' pleaded Thunder Cloud. ''You, have a sister?'' Star Dust asked releasing him back on his four hooves. ''I have a twin sister, her name is EarthCloud,'' Thunder said shaking grass off his shoulder. ''If I do not get back, she'll start crying,'' he said. ''I'm, sorry,'' Star said Thunder Cloud handed the whi, slowly walked backward. ''Thunder.'' StarDust said trotting inside the house, Night Star kept an eye on the red Pegasus, his sister came back outside levitating the box of muffins Derpy made, putting the muffins in front of him. ''You're giving him my muffins?'' said Derpy helping Carrot Top into the house to fix her severe wounds. ''He just stole from us, Star you cant be....'' Star Dust looked him with a sense of guilt, frankly, Night Star wanted to tell on him for being a thief, until seeing his sisters look that she was handling this and not him he dare not bother to speak in situations that involve another pony. ''Take it,'' Star said. Thunder Cloud picked up the box in his teeth looking at Star before slowly taking off into the afternoon sky. ''Carrot Top you sure the bridge in the EverFree is where the castle of the two sisters are,'' Star said giving the saddlebag to Derpy. ''Moms on her way home. With carrot Top injured, we cant go looking for Midnight right now, we need mom and dads help.'' NightStar plopped onto his hammock in his room, trying to collect his thoughts. Star Dust isn't a pony to show any signs of guilt this pony, this red Pegasus of an impostor, something was off about him though, his eyes had no pupils, pure green, wings like his bigger than his body taking exactly three seconds to get off the ground. ''What is he?'' NightStar, said rolling over in his hammock. ''NightStar, open the door.'' Star Dust called he flew off his hammock descending to the floor his sister Star Dust walked into his room levitating herself onto Night Stars hammock. ''Whoa what are you doing, this is my room.'' Night Star said flying up to his hanging bed. ''I'm sleeping here tonight,'' she said moving his blankets around in a neat fashion. ''Hey this is my bed,'' he said crossing his hooves, Star put a hoof to his muzzle. ''NightStar, don't start with me, I know we have grown apart the last few years, I'm doing this because a pony reminded me that your still my twin, be happy I'm your other half, oh and don't leave me in PonyVille like that..'' she said, Night Star mumbled, This image sharing a bed reminded him of the crib he shared with her back when they were foals. ''We got caught up chasing the guy, you better not snore.'' he said a pillow divided his side of the bed he knew this wouldn't work, still he enjoyed his sister's presence as much as she did, ''Other half?'' he thought to pull the covers over him, now he has two things to worry Midnight getting lost in the EverFree and figure out what happens with Star Dust and Thunder Cloud. ''Still, you did not come to get me, I would have caught the guy faster than you.'' ''Whth what Star?'' argued Night star. ''Magic duh, I'm a unicorn.'' Star Dust said snickering on her side of the hammock. ''I hate it when your right.'' Night Star said shuffling his pillow.'' I thought you were fine being by yourself.'' ''I am, I mean, I was until I was told I needed you more than you needed me.'' Star Dust said. ''Who told you?'' ask NightStar ''A shopkeeper named Hawk Cactus.'' ''Right, well good night try not to touch me okay.'' ''He was a nice pony Night Star, if you met him you'd like him like I did,'' Star said. ''I saw Cinnamon Sprinkle today,'' she said Night Star jolted turning to the lamp hanged next to his bed. ''Cinnamon Sprinkle, as in Cinnamon Sprinkle, tease Midnight, I beat the crap out of Cinnamon Sprinkle.'' ''Yep you almost broke his arm, he said to tell Midnight he's sorry, he complimented that you were a strong fighter.'' Star Dust said. ''Nah uh, I ain't forgiving that jerk.'' Night Star said aggressively. ''Night Star please, Cinnamon tried to not make himself a target, can you blame him for that,'' she said. ''Star two words, Yes, and YES, six years of that crap and you're telling me he said he's sorry.'' Crossing his hooves Night Star threw the blanket back on himself. ''Good night NightStar.'' Chapter 4 NightWingOn a mountain said of a cave deep in the EverFree forest a young dragon pony rested in his grandparent's nest, his grandmother flew into the wide cave holding gems in her claws. ''Get up NightWing.'' his grandmother said nudging her grandson awake, her wings caused an updraft, sleeping beside Night wing was a small ball of fluffy black fur named Blackberry rolled out the nest tumbling down he awoke to smell berries NightWings grandmother had squeaking in excitement. ''NightWing get up.'' Blackberry climbed back up the huge nest the hybrid stayed asleep. ''Blackberry go wake up your brother please,'' she said scattering the berries and gems on the cave floor, Blackberry was pleased to see she was not going to feed him by claw, with two hooves picked up the sleeping hybrids tail biting on it as hard as he could to wake him up. ''OW! Blackberry why'd you do that!'' he said pulling his tail away. His grandfather never allowed ponies into his clan, Blackberry was an acceptance, it is not clear how long Blackberry has been alive but he's been with him since his dad left and never return, not knowing what happen to his mother. ''Grandma five more minutes, I don't wanna go to school,'' he said laying back in his comfortable position. ''Its spring break, go outside and have fun,'' she said, the dragon pony slithered out the giant nest, he looked on the cave floor at what his grandmother for him. ''Go your cousins left for the dragon lands.'' his grandmother said. Blackberry came to his side looking over the edge. "If you stay here you'll get fat eating those gems.'' ''I won't be fat, I'll be puffy, like Blackberry,'' he said stretching his wings Blackberry jumped on his back as his way of getting around without walking. ''Bye grandma.'' ''Be back by moonrise,'' she called from the cave as he flew down to the forest below him. His cousins were extremely bigger than him, if he were to transform into a dragon he'd take up a small portion of his grandparents nest, other dragons would see him as a hatch-ling, each year his cousins left for the dragon lands to visit their own cousins they had, it was now him and the empty EveryFree forest at his disposal. The EverFree was divided between two other creatures living with us the vampires and the changelings, his clan never had any confrontations with them because their hive never went beyond their own territory, the vampires, however, have crossed paths multiple times, causing fights, Night Wing started thinking, if he was a vampire, it'd be a great opportunity to sneak into another creatures territory. Speaking of opportunity Night Wing had a chance to practice his fire breath, the key thing of being a dragon, his aim was almost on point. ''Let's try this again,'' he said taking in air Blackberry jumped off him running behind a rock. Taking a deep breath the hot flame scorched a tree trunk, Night Wing was on point only he had a couple of flukes that was to be fixed. ''Not ready,'' he said. His friend came from behind the rock, going to sniff the tree Night Wing failed to burn to a crisp. ''I tried, okay, my fire breath is not strong enough.'' The moon was well starting to rise, no doubt that he'd better make his time here worth it before his grandma called him back. All things he could do, with no interruptions Blackberry, ran ahead to look for something to chase. without his cousins the forest was shushed for the moment, nocturnal animals rose from the years of being kept silent. The object was a piece of blue mane, but wait? colorful mane? that belonged to a pony, what are ponies doing this far in the EverFree? grandpa said that ponies stay on a trail away from our territory, this pony, however, was obviously alone. Blackberry lead him to the pony infested trail, the hooves stopped at an old bridge leading to the old castle where ponies use to stay, no pony was in sight though, but a scuffle of hoof prints with blood indicated that something happen here, a set of large hoof prints going right and small hoof prints going, the other way? ''Where is this pony going?'' he thought. The small set of hoof prints dashed off in the other direction, could this be a foal separated from its mother? the mother must have been attacked by something for it to have blood drawn. Blackberry pointed his muzzle to the ground, shuffling his way into the bushes as he sniffed out for more of the blue mane he found. ''This pony must be walking the wrong way it's heading back to the den.'' The ponies mane showed up even more, on bushes and on stumps, parts of trees were scratched by something, the marks resembled nothing, not a dragon nor a creature of the EverFree. Uncertain he sniffed the blue mane out of curiosity, a more lavender scent filled his nose, this was the scent Blackberry was so fixed on,''This pony is a she?'' he said. No male pony he had ever seen had that type of smell way different than the opposite gender, not saying they smell bad, they too had a certain scent that was meant to attract their female counterpart, not a good way to get lost smelling like a flower. Blackberry squeaked for him to come over, the black fuzzball was spinning in place at a log two small hoof prints were at the front part of the log,''Awfully small for a pony.'' ''Blackberry?'' he said. Blackberry hesitated to move, he skittered into the log a small peep sounded from the inside, his brother came to him with more of the ponies blue mane. ''Hello?'' Night said. Walking to look inside, two green eyes, looking like emeralds, to be honest, blue mane, lavender scent and small wings, a filly. ''Please, don't eat me.'' said the filly trembling in the log. ''Eat you? why would I eat you?'' he said kneeling down to face the scared filly. ''I don't eat ponies I'm a half dragon.'' Night Wing said showing his hooves. ''Are you--?'' she spoke crawling a little closer. ''Are you a hybrid?'' she asked. 'How did you know?'' he replied. ''My dad once studied dragons.'' the filly said. ''You can come out now.'' Night Wing said. The filly shook her head crawling back to the darkness of the log.''Whats the matter?'' ''I was chased by something, is it gonna come back and attack me again, have you seen my foal sitter?'' ''I see nothing out here and a foal-sitter, like some pony who watches you? I was on the dirt path a minute ago. There was blood on the ground, your foal sitter was indeed attacked and fled the forest.'' he said. ''She left me here! how am I gonna get back home,'' she said rocking back and forth. ''I can show you the way back.'' NightWing said. The filly paused thinking if he was lying, she crawled out the log, her fur was almost a complete black like a camouflage, but her bright blue mane was giving it away. She stood up to his chest awfully short but he digressed this filly was lost and wanted to go back home, although he wanted to learn more about the other half of his species to finally become a whole he couldn't just ask her right out the blue. ''No don't show me the way back, please take me there yourself,'' she said. Blackberry sniffed her legs poking at her tail.''Is he your brother?'' ''Yes well, sort of, I named him Blackberry'' Night Wing replied. ''How did you find him?'' the filly asked. ''I found him being chased by a manta cor.'' he answered.''My grandpa let me keep him, he's not my pet, I treat him like a brother. Named him Blackberry because his coat is black, and his eyes are like the inside if a blackberry.'' ''Do you have a name?'' the filly asked staring at him, with her emerald eyes. ''Night Wing.'' replied. ''My name is Midnight, Midnight Blaze,'' she said. ''Cute name, now, uh let us get you back home okay.'' Nigh Wing said. ''Your brother is like a pony who has a sugar rush.'' Midnight said playing around with Blackberry. ''First time he ever saw some pony who looked like him.'' Night Wing said his brother ran into some bushes and came back out with his mouth smothered in berries. ''Blackberry what berries did you eat?'' he said, turning to look at his brother. Midnight had eaten the same thing. The color was purple. ''What, I got hungry,'' she said grabbing more berries off Blackberries fur. ''Midnight those are dragon berries,'' he said. With a shutter, Midnight spat out berries off in the grass. ''Is it going to kill me!'' ''Midnight dragons berries are eaten by dragons, not careless fillies who get lost in the most dangerous place in Equestria. The berries you ate will not kill you, it'll simply, change you into a dragon.'' ''A dragon!.'' Midnight choked. ''Not a dragon, a dragon pony like me.'' he said waving his tail. "I was born this way, the effect will wear off soon.'' he said. Midnight did turn into a dragon pony, with the tail, the horns, her wings grew, another dragon pony was great, but not when a pony is turned into one by accident. ''Midnight's fur still smells like lavender. Smells nice but it's hurting my nose.'' he thought, Midnight steadied herself on the claws that sprung from her hooves. ''Ow how do you walk with these on,'' she asked sitting down to avoid the pain. ''It feels like some pony took a nail gun and shoot nails in my hooves.'' ''These claws were with me since birth, the pain only lasts a few seconds,'' he said. Blackberry got in front of him squeaking loudly pushing him back. Night Wing pushed his brother aside walking around him. ''You can teach me how to fly.'' He sniffed the air twice, scuffled up the ground, and scurried to fight the unknown danger ruffling up the bushes he heard several squeaks and a hard yelp. Flying out to them a dark blue cult dragged Blackberry who bit its wing refusing to let go. ''Get it off of me!'' the cult said. ''Night Star.'' piped up Midnight. ''You found me.'' ''Get this pony off me!.'' he screamed shaking the black ball of fluff. ''He's my brother, Blackberry get off the blue Pegasus,'' he ordered. Blackberry understood letting the cults wing go his mouth filled with dark blue feathers. ''Midnight, ow, thank Celestia we found you. Star Dust, I found her!'' Night Star called. a flash of purple spark the air another pony light blue with a dark blue and black striped mane much like the other could they were a year older. ''Their twins?'' he thought the Pegasus known as Night Star pulled Midnight aside. Night Wing noticed this Pegasus had a set of overly large wings bigger than its body. Chapter 5 EarthCloud and ThunderCloudThunder flew over the sleeping town of PonyVille in his hooves was tired carrying the box of muffins the unicorn names StarDust out of kindness not to tell the guards. His sister was right where he left her hidden under a single mares one story house. Everyday the mare would leave her house unlocked letting the twins slip inside, to not give themselves away they slept in the living room and ate whatever scraps was available on the table either way the twins slept under the porch, It seems that tonight the mare did not show up, Earth Cloud was well inside with the living room one window and one lamp on. ''Thunder your back.'' cried his sister Thunder put the box on the coffee table. ''Did you bring back anything?'' Earth cloud smelled the box opening its lid with her muzzle. ''Muffins.'' she said taking a bite out of a muffin in the box. ''A unicorn gave that too me.'' Thunder said. EarthCloud ate away the muffins Thunder wasn't in the mood to eat. ''A unicorn, *Gasp* was it a guard?'' EarthCloud asked unfolding her wings. ''Not a guard, Earth cloud, she was a unicorn. Thunder replied looking out the window. ''She, gave me the box because i told her about you, she too had a twin brother tackled me after i stool their foalsitters saddlebag. ''Gave you it? what is she's a spy like the last one.'' EarthCloud said hiding under the table. ''She's not like the other ones EarthCloud, she had a pure heart i can tell, she and her brother did. I sensed something was wrong. A sibling was missing that's why she let me go.'' Thunder recalled. ''Twins like us cool can we meet them.'' earth cloud asked sitting on her favorite chair in the living room. ''Not sure, the brother looked defensive to me.'' Thunder said, ''That Pegasus tackled me good a little slow but he definitely been fighting in the past tackling me in one roll using all his weight to stop me from running.'' What the ponies of PonyVille didn't know he and his sister, were not from this dimension. Coming from a planet known as Panora. Their planet was being attacked by a mysterious darkness their parents send them into Equestria for protection but the portal closed locking them in. Their existence unknown to PonyVille, Thunder and Earth Cloud were captured by a band of poachers who planned to sell them. In their original form they had four hooves in the front. The males resembled a dragon fly while the female resembled a butterfly nighttime was the worst for them with no pupils for eyes, glowing like a firefly, long antennas curving at the end. The glowing was a crystallized form a good price for any pony who got their hooves on them. No pony was to be trusted. EarthCloud fluttered her big butterfly wings in the moon light, crystallized sparkles few behind her. ''Which house is it Thunder?'' ''A weird two story house. Earth Cloud can we go back.''coaxed Thunder. ''Weird two story house.'' she said. ''There it is.'' ''Earth Cloud no pony spies on another pony sleeping.'' Thunder warned. ''He wakes up i'm screwed.'' ''Thunder its not spying if you make noise. Just a little peak won't hurt.'' his sister said ignorantly she peaked into one of the rooms her glowing light reflected on the window. ''Is that him?'' she said, i took a look the room was tightly cleaned. ''Dark blue mane, light blue horn.'' Thunder thrust EarthCloud to the other window. ''That's the sister do not look in there, uh you want the brother over there.'' he said his cheeks felt hot looking in the window of the pony who was generous to give him food to feed his sister. ''Hi there.'' EarthCloud said waving her hoof from the outside. Thunder heard a slight shout pulling his sister away from the window to have a look for himself. Inside this room was was a horrible mess, in the air was a hammock, on the floor was the dark blue Pegasus who attacked him that afternoon shaking with his blanket half way on his body. ''Is he afraid of us?'' questioned his sister the cult tripped on his blanket getting to the window. Opening it ThunderCloud stopped glowing to give the pegasus a recognizable face. ''Remember me.'' ''You.'' he said. EarthCloud got in between him and the angry cult his face telling he was still mad his sister let me get away. ''Thunder Cloud.'' ''You tackled my brother now say sorry.'' she said. with a blank face the cult glared his eyes to Thunder not even blinking''He really wants to fight me i told my older i was screwed.'' Earth Cloud shoved her butterfly wings and herself in the window pulling him out his own room. The Pegasus fell a little way down but flapped his large wings backwards and forwards to fly upright. ''Sorry for tackling you.'' he snorted. EarthCloud grabbed the cults face she eyed his curiously. ''Your just like Thunder told me you'd look like, your sister was very nice to my brother by the way." she said flying in a motion less circle. Yeah she's nice, on the inside, uh i hadn't got a chance to introduce myself, uh my name is Night Star my sister is asleep, you do not want and i repeat do not wake her up.'' Night Star said blocking Star Dust's window. ''This room is a mess so you even clean your room Night star.'' said her brother walking over a moldy sandwich. ''My room never looked this messy.'' he scoffed. ''Aye my room, my rules.'' NightStar said moving things around for a suitable sitting space the smell in the room was mile Earth Cloud sat beside her brother as Night Star left the room a clock ticked away on a night stand. ''I'm back, and i brought food.'' he said giving EarthCloud a tray of unknown sweets, colorful wrapped up candy, none that Thunder had brought last winter. ''Go on pick one.'' he said unwrapping a green wrapped candy, EarthCloud moved her hoof over to a blue piece of the candy because the candy was blue on the inside it matched her mane. Her brother grabbed a piece a candy with purple wrapping. ''These candies arent like the ones we eat back home.'' Thunder said chewing his candy, his coat flickered yellow. ''Whoa whats with the uh, glowing?'' asked Night Star reaching for another piece. ''We change color depending on how we feel.'' she demonstrating by smiling EarthClouds coat changed to a bright yellow. ''That was happiness.'' ''Candy on our planet makes us change color.'' added Thunder. ''Oh you two are, aliens?'' he said Thunder flashed red.'' I say something wrong.'' ''We'd prefer if you call us galactic beings alien is a wrong word of choice.'' EarthCloud corrected. ''My bad so why are you two here?'' Night Star asked. ''We come from another universe called Panora. Our dimension was in danger for protection out parents sent us through a portal. It never opened after that.'' Earth Cloud said lowering her ears. ''A band of poachers captured us. You see this glowing form Night Star, were crystallized at night we fled to PonyVille to hide from them. Our hiding spot a one story house owned by a yellow and orange mare.'' ThunderCloud explained to him. ''Orange and yellow~ Carrot Top! your hiding under my foalsitters house!.'' he said Earth Cloud put down her piece of candy glowing white and black. All these rules for a big house with fewer ponies back home such rules were way stricken, if one broke into another ponies home the pony who did it would spend a day in the scorching sun with no water any pony who chooses to help will suffer the same punishments. EarthCloud beamed bright yellow happy he stalled for her. ''Be very quiet, my younger sister brought a dragon home don't make a sound.'' he said sadly she and Thunder hovered in the air making Night Star look foolish. ''Never mind.'' The interior of his room was divided by three other rooms, a tree grew on the inside reaching up to a wide glass dome that circled the entirety of the rooms. ''I knew it. EarthCloud i knew something was wrong. A little sister? StarDust didn't snitch on be just because i had a twin, it was because she feared for her sisters life.'' Thunder whispered to her hovering down their living room. "Wow your house is ~ big.'' ThunderCloud said hovering over the furniture. ''Bigger than your foalsitters.'' ''Don't judge her guys, her job doesn't pay her enough to let her get a bigger house.'' Night Star said raising an eyebrow. ''Where is she now.'' said Thunder. ''In the guess room sleep, she was attacked by something in the EverFree she described as a big black thing with red eyes.'' Night Star said Earth cloud casts white, her brother knew exactly what the the Pegasus was describing. ''Thunder the portal~.'' ''No it was closed shut!'' he said flashing red, white, white, black. (We need to leave now! the portal may be open but it means the end of this dimension.) ''Portal?'' NightStar asked EarthCloud not time to chat Thunder dashed back up the stairs. ''Night Star, it was nice for letting us into your home, i'm afraid me and my brother need to go, its an emergency.'' she said nudging his cheek leaving a trail of light green sparkles leading up the stairs.. Singing a low tune he watched his hive come to life the buzzing of wings and the constant chatter of his sisters his mom walked away down the halls because singing is their way of communicating through long distances sung a song to wake the whole hive at once. For changelings its eat, build, kill, defend, a lot for a single changeling having a gruesome queen like Chrysalis Shades aunt his moms cousin they don't talk much since her hive was destroyed, on the other hoof his hive was very much capable of doing all these things except for singing, on hottest of days Shades family sits on top of their diamond-shaped hive basking in the sun with leather skin to protect them from the harsh sun rays. ''Would you like to see why they're afraid of me, do you what I am that makes them afraid of me?'' she said flying right side up away from the sunny clearing, She reached out a pale white hoof. ''You're a vampire?'' he said, trotting in the dark forest to see her better she had spiky purple mane two sets of white fangs under the mare's muzzle. ''Your not that scary,'' he said. ''Really? Shade said recalling a time his sisters let a nasty snake into the hive, having two personalities her gentle sweeter side on the outside and the vicious queen she was meant to be on the inside. ''You are from the vampire forest right.'' ''Yes, the prey in my territory moved to the dragon forest because half of the population left, I came here and got myself stuck, I need to get back before my dad realizes I was gone for too long,'' she said. Attached to her right leg was something green her horn glowed a sudden red levitated out a bottle with a yellow liquid inside pouring it on her burned hoof. ''Can I at least get your name before you go all recon out eh forest.'' ''Star Struck and your name?'' ''Shade, uh what is that stuff?'' ''Something I mixed together in case I got hurt, you have healers in your hive do you?'' Star Struck asked levitating the bottle into her leaf-shaped pocket. ''Eggshell right, you want it to go get it yourself,'' he said mocking the vampire in the tree. ''Hello, if I go in the sun I burn to ashes, simple vampire logic, if I go in their with you, your mother won't kill me.'' With the calmest of faces Shade, mom threw back a smile. ''How lovely, how many do you need?'' she said. Six brood maids dragged a bag full of empty egg shells oozing with the liquid of last months hatching. ''Take as many as you want, we eat these sometimes but we can use some pony else to get rid of them for us,'' she said with a nasty grin. ''Thank you, mam,'' she said Shades jaw dropped, his mom, however, twitched her eyes in an unsettling manner. ''Come back if you want more,'' she said. ''Bye Star Struck,'' he said Star flicked an ear-turning an ear as his sisters escorted her back to the evergreens. ''Shade.'' his mother jerked her head three times skittering her hooves over to him, Shade coward to the floor. ''Yes mom.'' ''Shade darling, my first son, You know I love you with all my heart, do you think it was a good idea to bring her here.'' ''No....mom.'' ''if she came without you, I would have KILLED HER, do you think I will let any of your sisters do that!.'' yelled Shades mom. ''No mom.'' Coming over a hill SunBlaze dodged her way through the chaotic city, it wasn't until she could see a large black shadow loom its way over the city that had caused ponies to panic in a frenzy of moving hooves, she didn't have time to count the fatalities that broke out but she soon found her mentor standing on another hill out side the city walls. "I'm here." SunBlaze said placing the purple rounded basket she has been levitating on the ground, all while ignoring the screams as they escalated louder in her ears. "I went back like you told me too. I have the twins and your daughter, Fallen..... Empress MoonStar..... what will happen to her? Is there any way of saving her at all? " Sun Blaze asked. Fallen looked down at his apprentice who looked up at him with her large yellow eyes that hid a orange glow. "Don't worry about it." He said holding a calm face expression. "What about everypony else? We can't just leave them here their defenseless." "I know we cant, but we can at least give them a chance to hide." FallenStar said his horn began to flash purple he shot two volts ''I want Midnight to have this, it was her mothers when she was a filly,'' Fallen said with a warm smile. ''The portal is on the other side of the of the forest of illusion, we'll take a shortcut.'' Fallen said trotting up a hill, the two raced off beyond the empire and as they ran they could do nothing to help the ponies watching their world fall apart, couples holding hoofs, parents sheltering filly's and colts who cried from the threat that can not be stopped. Fallen Star used a teleportation spell to send them halfway across their world, where the portal was activated by four creatures from neighboring universes, the sorrow look all of them had made Sun Blaze's stomach feel empty. Fallen pushed Sun Blaze onto the stone pad, the five lit the portal up just as the darkness appeared, the moon no longer a crystal blue but a tainted red, the portal struck a bright green, Equestria with an orange black haired stallion was on the other side. Sun Blaze said, she went to the portal about to enter when she paused to look at all five creatures including her mentor who taught her magic since she was a teen, this was the last time she will ever see all five guardians in one place ever again. ''Farrell my student raise my daughter well for me.'' ''I will.'' Sun Blaze sobbed. ''Take good care of my twins will you Sun Blaze.'' said the stallion standing to the right of Fallen Star. Chapter 1 Midnight Equestria, one of many universes inhabited by ponies in this world, only the power of friendship and magic conquers all, but where does all this power come from? This power comes from a little town smacked dab in the middle of Equestria called PonyVille, where ponies of every kind live in peace, from the earth ponies healing the ground to the Pegasus controlling the sky in perfect harmony. But there is one place that is not in perfect harmony, on the far edge of town a two-story house was in chaos from the yelling of three siblings, twins to be exact the sister a unicorn, the brother a Pegasus, and their little sister, every day their morning starts with the parents leaving to their jobs since they could not afford a proper foalsitter asking two of their closest friends, Carrot Top and Derpy Hooves to take care of them while they worked. ''Carrot Top Night Stars throwing food at me again!'' Star Dust complained. ''He's getting food all over me.'' ''It's just a little piece.'' ''Food that is getting all over my coat, little is not the size your ego is in,'' said Star Dust. ''What's an ego?'' ''Your brain! Night Star I told you this weeks ago.'' ''Are you calling my brain small!'' ''Small enough that I need a magnifying glass to look at it better,'' Star said pushing her plate away from her obnoxious food throwing brother. ''Midnight, are you done in the bathroom yet?'' called Carrot Top.''Your foods getting cold.'' Getting up in the morning was slow for Midnight, her size was smaller than the average filly, smaller than her siblings, getting up and down tall places was a bit of a challenge when you stand at only four inches tall. ''Coming.'' Midnight said climbing off the stool she stood on, a regular Pegasus would fly off down two sets of stairs but everything to her was a giant jungle gym, with large objects to climb over and under. ''I can't believe we got kicked out of school. Said Night Star. ''We didn't get kicked out we got expelled.'' corrected Star Dust. ''If you hadn't picked a fight with that student we wouldn't be missing the new semester.'' ''He picked a fight with me first, I was nearly defending myself and defending our little sister.'' ''You don't haft to defend me, I could have handled it on my own,''said Midnight, this was the eighth time Her siblings had gotten into a fight for her sake. In school she was repeatedly teased by her lack of small wings, she was not disabled just that her school recommended she go take flying lessons but mom denied all of them, for she believed letting the child learn how to fly on their own was the best way to build a ponies self-confidence. ''By calling you names cause you have small wings, I'm glad they didn't call you blank flank.'' Night Star said he picked up his fork flicking food across the table. ''Night Star manners please.'' Carrot Top said, a knock came from the front door, Carrot Top stopped washing the dishes to go open it, a loud dizzy voice came inside with the flapping of wings, Derpy Hooves slid on the floor in her post office uniform, her hat laid tilted on her head. ''Hi, Derpy,'' said Night Star, unlike Midnight Derpy was the one who taught Night Star how to fly in the best effort way possible. ''Sorry if my routes took so long, I had to go back home to bring you guys the muffins I made,'' Derpy said bringing in a wrapped up box with orange ribbon. ''Doctor Hooves left the first batch in the oven, so I made a fresh new batch for all of you.'' "That's nice of you Derpy, um I don't think they need so many sweets in the morning.'' ''Carrot Top sweets are fun to eat in the morning,'' Derpy said. ''Not every pony can eat that many sweets as you can,'' Carrot said pulling off Derpys saddle bag. ''Unless your like Pinkie Pie.'' ''Pinkie can be the best eater at cakes, but I'm the best eater at muffins,'' Derpy replied. ''Whats the letter for mom for?'' asked Star Dust picking up the envelope for mom off the floor. "Theirs no name on here, who send the letter?'' ''I'm not an expert on letters, all I know is that the letter came from one of her friends on the other side of PonyVille.'' Being expelled wasn't all that bad for them, spring break was tomorrow meaning more time for mom to look for another school to put them in, Midnight never liked Mrs. Cheerliee's school anyway, too small for thirty-nine students, she, Star Dust, and Night star were just extra weight that was not needed. ''Their mom said that we should take you guys out to PonyVille with me today, said you needed fresh air.'' Derpy Said. ''Carrot is taking Midnight to the EveryFree forest for the first time, and I got you and Star Dust.'' Derpy said taking off her uniform.''We're going to the park.'' ''What! She gets to go to the EverFree forest and I haft to go to PonyVille, with him.'' Star said stamping a hoof on the wooden floor.''I'm staying here.'' ''No your not mom's orders,'' said Night Star, mocking his sister the way she does whenever he procrastinate about something. ''I'm older than him by a second, I can watch myself for one day.'' ''If you stay here I'm telling mom what happen to her earrings you lost last summer.'' Night Star said staring at Star Dust intensively, this is another one of their (twin) moments, where one twin threatens the other, a perfect balance in who's right and who's wrong, all one pony has to do is say something to the other to break the balance that was going between them. Star Dust grunted in defeat, Carrot Top grabbed her own saddlebag she brought to the house. The EverFree looked scarier in real life then what it did in the books, the sun was gone except the moon, a forever eternal night casting its forever shadow. Everything here either moved or flew away, the sounds made Midnight flinch. ''Here we are, the end of the trail, I could take you to the castle of the two sisters but Twilight has it blocked off.'' she said trotting off onward onto the trail, ''she and her friends are restoring the history there, maybe even turning it into a museum.'' Midnight closed out Carrot Tops talking to look at the darkened forest, Midnight remembered Mrs. Cheerliee telling the class about the dangers of the EverFree, well now she knows why, the trees here were larger, more ancient like than present, a forest stuck in time. There is a good side to this place, dad once told her the EverFree is enchanted, if you look hard enough, you'll find something no pony has ever seen. ''There it is the castle of the two sisters, isn't it amazing,'' Carrot said. Way off over the bridge an old castle in ruins blended with the rest of the forest. ''Carrot Top do you ever see things here.'' Midnight said anxiously.''Like, things that do not exist.'' ''Lots of things don't exist, I've seen plenty of those in PonyVille.'' ''Do you tell any pony?'' Midnight replied. ''No, no ponies gonna believe that I saw a big flash in the EverFree.'' Carrot Top sighed.'' They'd all think I'm crazy.'' ''What was the flash tell me Carrot Top please.'' Midnight said. ''Okay, i was 18 years old, I just graduated high school, had a house, nice area, one night I woke up looking out my window, a bright red flash shot into the sky, the ground shook, I was being shaken like a rattle, I ran for the front door to go look outside, no pony was up, next morning I knew they weren't going to believe about the flash, sure they would have felt the ground shake, though, they didn't feel the earth shake like I did, now I keep it a secret, I'm no ordinary carrot farmer, I met Derpy a year later and she told me about the flash too and then we met your mother etc.'' ''Sounds cool, did you tell mom about the flash too?'' ''No, she never saw it.'' Carrot Top said. She reached into her saddlebag taking out the box of muffins Derpy made, handing one to Midnight while staring at the old castle. Chapter 2 StarDustCenter of PonyVille was the least place Star wanted to be in, she could have been sitting back at the house on dads lounging chair reading, no, she was supposedly forced into going to the center of PonyVille with her brother, of all ponies he could do more damage than Derpy. ''Sun blaze told me to pick up a few things for her, once I'm done it's off to the park,'' Derpy said. ''Yes, I get to try out new tricks I've been coming up with.'' Night Star said. ''How are tricks so important, you just fly in random circles.'' Star Dust said in annoyance.'' Derpy can I please go to a library.'' ''Your jealous because you can't fly, tricks are the (art) of flying, it helps with your reputation in school and in PonyVille,'' he said gliding side to side, Star hated that he was a mixture of dumb and smart, he had no reputation in school or in PonyVille with his bad temperament issues, with the causing outbreaks of fights. ''Star come on it'll be fun, theirs lots of fun things to do at the park,'' Derpy said. ''There's nothing fun about the park, its birds, trees, flowers, and ponies doing nothing.'' stammered Star Dust. Derpy sighed. ''You get in trouble I'm not telling your mother it was my fault, meet back here before sunset please,''Derpy said flying off with her brother. ''Now for a little me time.'' PonyVille was filled with places that were more interesting than the park, that was her younger self's favorite thing to do, shes twelve years old now, twin stuff was an old thing she use to say when she was younger, playing with Night Star as foals the park was a magic wonder land as a kid, Star Dust followed her brother everywhere he went, always getting them in trouble for the silliest of things, getting her stuck in holes looking for buried treasure, or putting her up in a tree to look for sky pirates, a story dad told them at bedtime, she'd use her magic to get herself down, mom would be at the bottom so angry at them, the punishments were the casual timeouts, Night Star used to turn timeouts into (fun) outs playing who can stay quiet and not laugh the longest, they both would lose every round the pony who did not laugh the most got to eat the cake mom hid in the fridge for them, good memories. Enlisting her things to do trotting through PonyVille she caught sight of Mrs Cheerlie walking her class down to the town square, recognizing the student that Night Star picked a fight with a brown cult with green hair named Cinnamon Sprinkle, his leg wrapped in bandages in a cast after the damage Night Star did he didn't know that this unicorn had a crush on her since kindergarten, Star Dust did not have feelings for this pony since Star was a year older than him. As the class walked by some of the students pointed whispering about how she and her brother will never graduate, Mrs. Cheerliee never made eye contact. ''Hey, StarDust.'' Cinnamon Sprinkle said waving to her, the earth pony hobbled his three legs towards StarDust, she regretted not leaving the park with Derpy and night Star. ''Your brother is a really strong fighter,'' Cinnamon said ruffling his green mane. ''He has anger issues. You should catch up with your class.'' Star said. ''I know, hey tell Midnight I'm sorry,'' Cinnamon said hobbling off to catch up with his moving class. ''Cinnamon Sprinkle.'' StarDust called. ''I'll get my mom to send an apology letter, okay.'' ''Thanks,'' Cinnamon replied. Though StarDust didn't have any attraction to Cinnamon Sprinkle, she certainly had no attraction to any pony at all reaching her preteen years. ''Night Star would not understand, I've been into fights too,'' she said levitating the fruit in the air the stallion working at the fruit cart leaned over eyeing her to see if she'd put it back or steal it. '' You having problems too aye.'' ''Yeah, my brother thinks he can fight every pony that gets on his nerves, I'm a fighter too but it's not the way he sees it. I've gotten into fights Night Star would never win, I use the power of words to fight back, he uses the power of his hooves instead, Are we even the same anymore.'' Star said looking at the fruit she held one side showed her reflection the another showed a smudged spot a pot that was meant to represent her brother. ''You going to buy that?'' asked the shopkeeper. ''No sir.'' StarDust replied. ''Nah you can keep it, I have twins foals of my own back home, I grew up in a family full of twins, my twin sings and travels Equestria, his visits are once a year.'' ''Thank you, sir, may I ask what your name is?'' ''Hawk Cactus, aye don't let a little miss hap between you and your brother keep you apart, next time you get into an argument look him in the eye tell him this. I'm just like you, I breathe the same air as you, I was born the same time as you even if I was born by a second, we share the same DNA, we are one in the same." ''Think my brother will listen to this,'' Star asked. ''He's your twin, he'll listen.'' the shopkeeper said. StarDust ate the fruit Hawk Cactus gave her trotting out of town square into down town PonyVille, the richer side as mom called it, unicorns from Canterlot come to PonyVille, not for the nice friendly ponies and neighbors, they moved here to make a profit off the place, bringing with them expensive items mom can never afford, including the houses more of a neighborhood of mansions, yards were decorated all nice and pretty with flowers, the bushes shaped into animals, her mother knew a few earth ponies who were rich, not that she wished her family were rich, no common pony comes down here. The neighborhood had a quiet absence of ponies. Star Dust did not find her brother nor Derpy back at the exact same spot Derpy told them to meet them at in the time square. ''Where are they?'' Star Dust questioned. The ponies here were enjoying a calm afternoon relaxing taking a break from morning rush hour, she canters to Hawk Cactus's fruit stand Cactus laid leaned back in his chair. ''Hawk Cactus, did you so happen to see a grey Pegasus with a dark blue cult flying around?'' she asked. Cactus looked down at her from his fruit stand. ''Grey Pegasus with walled eyes.'' ''Yes her have you seen her?'' StarDust answered. ''I so did happen to see them, they came running by chasing some mysterious red cult down the street,'' Hawk said pointing in the direction leading back to the house. Galloping down the street she tried out the teleportation spell her dad taught her, she wasn't sure it will fully work, furthermore she needed to catch up to them faster, in this case, the distance between them and the house they'd already be there at Pegasus speed, Star needed to go by unicorn speed, by using a spell that big would take up all her energy. Her mom told her that when she was still in school, every year one unicorn out of a thousand will succeed perfecting this spell, she was one of them, mom used the transportation spell once, Night Star got sick during class last year, triggering an instinct all mothers had, her mom teleported herself across PonyVille at such a great speed she caused a dent to appear in the school yard, with no exhaustion, mom broke the door down, a sense of rage on moms face, Mrs. Cheerlie did not bother notifying her that he had gotten sick causing her moms mane to explode into flames almost setting the school on fire, every student screamed in the classroom, thankfully she had the money to replace the door, telling Star Dust it was a magic outburst, a unicorn filled with anger, their mane will ignite like fire, having lasting effects on the area the unicorn was standing in, Star being a preteen is close to reaching that stage. ''Celestia help me,'' Star said before a purple ora consumed Star Dust, feeling her body heat up in the mist of the flash, ended up in the backyard of the house, running through the back door, through the living room and out the front, in the yard Night Star wrestled in grass with the red cult Hawk Cactus told her about. ''Night Star!'' ''I can explain this.'' Night Star said pinning down the cult with both hooves. All of a sudden a scream echoed from the back of the house, ''Derpy!'' coming to a halt in front of them, Carrot Top had come back without her sister Carrots body bled from huge wounds on her body. ''Carrot Top what happen!'' ''Midnight i.... I lost her in the EverFree!''
Chapter 3 NightStar''You lost Midnight in the EverFree!'' yelled NightStar still pinning down the young pegasus. ''It was an accident.... I was taking Midnight back to the house when these (things) came out and attacked us!'' ''What things came out and attacked you? Where is our the sister!'' said Night Stars sister. ''Get off me!'' said the pony under him, NightStar almost forgot he caught the thief, during him and Derpys little goose chase, while they were in PonyVille, Derpy was buying ingredients with her already heavy saddlebag for her muffins, this red cult with a green mane and blue eyes snatched it, they ran after him, abandoning that Derpy had to go get Star Dust from PonyVille. ''Every pony calm down, Carrot Top where was the last place you were with Midnight?'' questioned Derpy? ''The castle of the two sisters,'' Carrot said. ''There! Why did you take her there?'' asked Derpy. ''Excuse me, what do we do with this guy?'' Night Star said. Star Dust walked to him gazing down at the guy he had wrestled. ''Who is he?'' she asked. ''He's the guy who stole my saddlebag,'' Derpy said... Star levitated Derpys saddlebag out of the ponies hooves, giving it back to Derpy. ''Why did you steal this from our foalsitter?'' ''If you get your brother off me I'll tell you.'' the cult replied Night star let him go only to be pinned against a tree by his sisters magic. ''Foalsitter, I thought she was your mom.'' the cult said. ''What the, eh, she's not my mom.'' NightStar said Thunder tilted his head in confusion. ''What did you think just because she's a Pegasus you'd just assume she was my mom, not every Pegasus have kids off the same species.'' Night said. ''You still didn't answer my question, who are you, why did you steal from our foalsitter.'' Star Dust said getting up to the Pegasus face. ''My name is ThunderCloud. I stole the bag cause last time I stole from some pony I was almost caught, please don't tell the guards, I only stole it for my little sister.'' pleaded Thunder Cloud. ''You, have a sister?'' Star Dust asked releasing him back on his four hooves. ''I have a twin sister, her name is EarthCloud,'' Thunder said shaking grass off his shoulder. ''If I do not get back, she'll start crying,'' he said. ''I'm, sorry,'' Star said Thunder Cloud handed the whi, slowly walked backward. ''Thunder.'' StarDust said trotting inside the house, Night Star kept an eye on the red Pegasus, his sister came back outside levitating the box of muffins Derpy made, putting the muffins in front of him. ''You're giving him my muffins?'' said Derpy helping Carrot Top into the house to fix her severe wounds. ''He just stole from us, Star you cant be....'' Star Dust looked him with a sense of guilt, frankly, Night Star wanted to tell on him for being a thief, until seeing his sisters look that she was handling this and not him he dare not bother to speak in situations that involve another pony. ''Take it,'' Star said. Thunder Cloud picked up the box in his teeth looking at Star before slowly taking off into the afternoon sky. ''Carrot Top you sure the bridge in the EverFree is where the castle of the two sisters are,'' Star said giving the saddlebag to Derpy. ''Moms on her way home. With carrot Top injured, we cant go looking for Midnight right now, we need mom and dads help.'' NightStar plopped onto his hammock in his room, trying to collect his thoughts. Star Dust isn't a pony to show any signs of guilt this pony, this red Pegasus of an impostor, something was off about him though, his eyes had no pupils, pure green, wings like his bigger than his body taking exactly three seconds to get off the ground. ''What is he?'' NightStar, said rolling over in his hammock. ''NightStar, open the door.'' Star Dust called he flew off his hammock descending to the floor his sister Star Dust walked into his room levitating herself onto Night Stars hammock. ''Whoa what are you doing, this is my room.'' Night Star said flying up to his hanging bed. ''I'm sleeping here tonight,'' she said moving his blankets around in a neat fashion. ''Hey this is my bed,'' he said crossing his hooves, Star put a hoof to his muzzle. ''NightStar, don't start with me, I know we have grown apart the last few years, I'm doing this because a pony reminded me that your still my twin, be happy I'm your other half, oh and don't leave me in PonyVille like that..'' she said, Night Star mumbled, This image sharing a bed reminded him of the crib he shared with her back when they were foals. ''We got caught up chasing the guy, you better not snore.'' he said a pillow divided his side of the bed he knew this wouldn't work, still he enjoyed his sister's presence as much as she did, ''Other half?'' he thought to pull the covers over him, now he has two things to worry Midnight getting lost in the EverFree and figure out what happens with Star Dust and Thunder Cloud. ''Still, you did not come to get me, I would have caught the guy faster than you.'' ''Whth what Star?'' argued Night star. ''Magic duh, I'm a unicorn.'' Star Dust said snickering on her side of the hammock. ''I hate it when your right.'' Night Star said shuffling his pillow.'' I thought you were fine being by yourself.'' ''I am, I mean, I was until I was told I needed you more than you needed me.'' Star Dust said. ''Who told you?'' ask NightStar ''A shopkeeper named Hawk Cactus.'' ''Right, well good night try not to touch me okay.'' ''He was a nice pony Night Star, if you met him you'd like him like I did,'' Star said. ''I saw Cinnamon Sprinkle today,'' she said Night Star jolted turning to the lamp hanged next to his bed. ''Cinnamon Sprinkle, as in Cinnamon Sprinkle, tease Midnight, I beat the crap out of Cinnamon Sprinkle.'' ''Yep you almost broke his arm, he said to tell Midnight he's sorry, he complimented that you were a strong fighter.'' Star Dust said. ''Nah uh, I ain't forgiving that jerk.'' Night Star said aggressively. ''Night Star please, Cinnamon tried to not make himself a target, can you blame him for that,'' she said. ''Star two words, Yes, and YES, six years of that crap and you're telling me he said he's sorry.'' Crossing his hooves Night Star threw the blanket back on himself. ''Good night NightStar.'' Star replied. ''I ain't forgiving that jerk.'' played in the back of his head ''Too harsh?'' he thought. ''Nah i still ain't forgiving him.''
Chapter 4 NightWingOn a mountain said of a cave deep in the EverFree forest a young dragon pony rested in his grandparent's nest, his grandmother flew into the wide cave holding gems in her claws. ''Get up NightWing.'' his grandmother said nudging her grandson awake, her wings caused an updraft, sleeping beside Night wing was a small ball of fluffy black fur named Blackberry rolled out the nest tumbling down he awoke to smell berries NightWings grandmother had squeaking in excitement. ''NightWing get up.'' Blackberry climbed back up the huge nest the hybrid stayed asleep. ''Blackberry go wake up your brother please,'' she said scattering the berries and gems on the cave floor, Blackberry was pleased to see she was not going to feed him by claw, with two hooves picked up the sleeping hybrids tail biting on it as hard as he could to wake him up. ''OW! Blackberry why'd you do that!'' he said pulling his tail away. His grandfather never allowed ponies into his clan, Blackberry was an acceptance, it is not clear how long Blackberry has been alive but he's been with him since his dad left and never return, not knowing what happen to his mother. ''Grandma five more minutes, I don't wanna go to school,'' he said laying back in his comfortable position. ''Its spring break, go outside and have fun,'' she said, the dragon pony slithered out the giant nest, he looked on the cave floor at what his grandmother for him. ''Gems and berries again.'' he thought, it was the same thing he ate for years, because hes half pony his grandma liked making him feel that being different is a good thing, it really wasn't, though Night Wings family of cousins, uncles, and aunts had no value in him, "Going outside, grandma I hate spring break, the other dragons make fun of me.'' he said dragging his tail. ''They'll make fun of you, they will learn in the future.'' ''I am in the future, it's the 20th century.'' Night Wing said eating a purple gem. ''Go your cousins left for the dragon lands.'' his grandmother said. Blackberry came to his side looking over the edge. "If you stay here you'll get fat eating those gems.'' ''I won't be fat, I'll be puffy, like Blackberry,'' he said stretching his wings Blackberry jumped on his back as his way of getting around without walking. ''Bye grandma.'' ''Be back by moonrise,'' she called from the cave as he flew down to the forest below him. His cousins were extremely bigger than him, if he were to transform into a dragon he'd take up a small portion of his grandparents nest, other dragons would see him as a hatch-ling, each year his cousins left for the dragon lands to visit their own cousins they had, it was now him and the empty EveryFree forest at his disposal. The EverFree was divided between two other creatures living with us the vampires and the changelings, his clan never had any confrontations with them because their hive never went beyond their own territory, the vampires, however, have crossed paths multiple times, causing fights, Night Wing started thinking, if he was a vampire, it'd be a great opportunity to sneak into another creatures territory. Speaking of opportunity Night Wing had a chance to practice his fire breath, the key thing of being a dragon, his aim was almost on point. ''Let's try this again,'' he said taking in air Blackberry jumped off him running behind a rock. Taking a deep breath the hot flame scorched a tree trunk, Night Wing was on point only he had a couple of flukes that was to be fixed. ''Not ready,'' he said. His friend came from behind the rock, going to sniff the tree Night Wing failed to burn to a crisp. ''I tried, okay, my fire breath is not strong enough.'' The moon was well starting to rise, no doubt that he'd better make his time here worth it before his grandma called him back. All things he could do, with no interruptions Blackberry, ran ahead to look for something to chase. without his cousins the forest was shushed for the moment, nocturnal animals rose from the years of being kept silent. Blackberry came scurrying back this time he had something blue in his mouth. ''Blackberry what is that?'' NightWing asked. The object was a piece of blue mane, but wait? colorful mane? that belonged to a pony, what are ponies doing this far in the EverFree? grandpa said that ponies stay on a trail away from our territory, this pony, however, was obviously alone. Blackberry lead him to the pony infested trail, the hooves stopped at an old bridge leading to the old castle where ponies use to stay, no pony was in sight though, but a scuffle of hoof prints with blood indicated that something happen here, a set of large hoof prints going right and small hoof prints going, the other way? ''Where is this pony going?'' he thought. The small set of hoof prints dashed off in the other direction, could this be a foal separated from its mother? the mother must have been attacked by something for it to have blood drawn. Blackberry pointed his muzzle to the ground, shuffling his way into the bushes as he sniffed out for more of the blue mane he found. ''This pony must be walking the wrong way it's heading back to the den.'' The ponies mane showed up even more, on bushes and on stumps, parts of trees were scratched by something, the marks resembled nothing, not a dragon nor a creature of the EverFree. Uncertain he sniffed the blue mane out of curiosity, a more lavender scent filled his nose, this was the scent Blackberry was so fixed on,''This pony is a she?'' he said. No male pony he had ever seen had that type of smell way different than the opposite gender, not saying they smell bad, they too had a certain scent that was meant to attract their female counterpart, not a good way to get lost smelling like a flower. Blackberry squeaked for him to come over, the black fuzzball was spinning in place at a log two small hoof prints were at the front part of the log,''Awfully small for a pony.'' ''Blackberry?'' he said. Blackberry hesitated to move, he skittered into the log a small peep sounded from the inside, his brother came to him with more of the ponies blue mane. ''Hello?'' Night said. Walking to look inside, two green eyes, looking like emeralds, to be honest, blue mane, lavender scent and small wings, a filly. ''Please, don't eat me.'' said the filly trembling in the log. ''Eat you? why would I eat you?'' he said kneeling down to face the scared filly. ''I don't eat ponies I'm a half dragon.'' Night Wing said showing his hooves. ''Are you--?'' she spoke crawling a little closer. ''Are you a hybrid?'' she asked. 'How did you know?'' he replied. ''My dad once studied dragons.'' the filly said. ''You can come out now.'' Night Wing said. The filly shook her head crawling back to the darkness of the log.''Whats the matter?'' ''I was chased by something, is it gonna come back and attack me again, have you seen my foal sitter?'' ''I see nothing out here and a foal-sitter, like some pony who watches you? I was on the dirt path a minute ago. There was blood on the ground, your foal sitter was indeed attacked and fled the forest.'' he said. ''She left me here! how am I gonna get back home,'' she said rocking back and forth. ''I can show you the way back.'' NightWing said. The filly paused thinking if he was lying, she crawled out the log, her fur was almost a complete black like a camouflage, but her bright blue mane was giving it away. She stood up to his chest awfully short but he digressed this filly was lost and wanted to go back home, although he wanted to learn more about the other half of his species to finally become a whole he couldn't just ask her right out the blue. ''No don't show me the way back, please take me there yourself,'' she said. Blackberry sniffed her legs poking at her tail.''Is he your brother?'' ''Yes well, sort of, I named him Blackberry'' Night Wing replied. ''How did you find him?'' the filly asked. ''I found him being chased by a manta cor.'' he answered.''My grandpa let me keep him, he's not my pet, I treat him like a brother. Named him Blackberry because his coat is black, and his eyes are like the inside if a blackberry.'' ''Do you have a name?'' the filly asked staring at him, with her emerald eyes. ''Night Wing.'' replied. ''My name is Midnight, Midnight Blaze,'' she said. ''Cute name, now, uh let us get you back home okay.'' Nigh Wing said. ''Your brother is like a pony who has a sugar rush.'' Midnight said playing around with Blackberry. ''First time he ever saw some pony who looked like him.'' Night Wing said his brother ran into some bushes and came back out with his mouth smothered in berries. ''Blackberry what berries did you eat?'' he said, turning to look at his brother. Midnight had eaten the same thing. The color was purple. ''What, I got hungry,'' she said grabbing more berries off Blackberries fur. ''Midnight those are dragon berries,'' he said. With a shutter, Midnight spat out berries off in the grass. ''Is it going to kill me!'' ''Midnight dragons berries are eaten by dragons, not careless fillies who get lost in the most dangerous place in Equestria. The berries you ate will not kill you, it'll simply, change you into a dragon.'' ''A dragon!.'' Midnight choked. ''Not a dragon, a dragon pony like me.'' he said waving his tail. "I was born this way, the effect will wear off soon.'' he said. Midnight did turn into a dragon pony, with the tail, the horns, her wings grew, another dragon pony was great, but not when a pony is turned into one by accident. ''Midnight's fur still smells like lavender. Smells nice but it's hurting my nose.'' he thought, Midnight steadied herself on the claws that sprung from her hooves. ''Ow how do you walk with these on,'' she asked sitting down to avoid the pain. ''It feels like some pony took a nail gun and shoot nails in my hooves.'' ''These claws were with me since birth, the pain only lasts a few seconds,'' he said. Midnight soon adjusted to her new look, to see if they were going in the right direction, Night Wing flew above the canopy to looking over the evergreens.''Midnight can you come up here an~.'' Midnight stood at the bottom not budging to fly up with him kneeling down for a break. ''Can you fly?'' he asked descending back to earth. ''I don't know how too fly,'' she said. Midnight flapped her wings unevenly on the grass getting two inches of air falling on her flank, Night Wing was shocked to see that a young filly like her would not learn how to fly at a young age. ''Night Wing my mom and dad are unicorns.'' ''Well, don't you have any siblings to teach you?'' Night Wing stuttered folding in his wings. ''A brother or~ or sister?'' ''My brother NightStar, my foal sitter was the one who taught him.'' she said.''I have no one to teach me.'' Night Wing rubbed his head, Blackberry swallowed more of his dragon berries, jumping up circling around him squeaking, ''Blackberry what are you trying to ~.'' Blackberry trotted towards Midnight.''What you want too~.'' he ran to a bush grabbing leaves flapping them up and down like wings. ''You want to fly?'' he asked. Blackberry shook his head, flapping his fake wings pointing to Midnight. ''You want me to teach her how to fly, oh no I ain't-a teacher,'' he said turning away. Blackberry got in front of him squeaking loudly pushing him back. Night Wing pushed his brother aside walking around him. ''You can teach me how to fly.'' Midnight said standing with two hooves touching his chest.''Please.'' In addition to this Night Wing stared at both of them with sour looks. ''Fine, I'll teach you how to fly, I need to get you back home to your parent's fir~.'' Night Wing froze something was in the bushes watching them.''Midnight gets behind me.'' ''Why.'' Midnight replied. ''If you say you were attacked. You're certain to be followed,'' he said digging his claws into the dirt Blackberry, however, did not go into a defensive stance instead frizzed up. He sniffed the air twice, scuffled up the ground, and scurried to fight the unknown danger ruffling up the bushes he heard several squeaks and a hard yelp. Flying out to them a dark blue cult dragged Blackberry who bit its wing refusing to let go. ''Get it off of me!'' the cult said. ''Night Star.'' piped up Midnight. ''You found me.'' ''Get this pony off me!.'' he screamed shaking the black ball of fluff. ''He's my brother, Blackberry get off the blue Pegasus,'' he ordered. Blackberry understood letting the cults wing go his mouth filled with dark blue feathers. ''Midnight, ow, thank Celestia we found you. Star Dust, I found her!'' Night Star called. a flash of purple spark the air another pony light blue with a dark blue and black striped mane much like the other could they were a year older. ''Their twins?'' he thought the Pegasus known as Night Star pulled Midnight aside. Night Wing noticed this Pegasus had a set of overly large wings bigger than its body. ''I see why he can't teach her how to fly.'' ''Who is this?'' the unicorn asked. ''Star Dust, Night Star this Night Wing you can thank him and his brother for finding me, NightWing these are my older siblings,'' she said. ''Midnight why! do you look like a dragon?'' Asked Night Star ''I may or may not have eaten dragon berries.'' ''He found you, what is he in particular?'' said her sister. ''I'm a dragon pony.'' Night Wing spoke startling the unicorn sister.''Half dragon half pony.'' ''Yeah cool, Midnight we need to go mom is worried about you.'' Star Dust said Midnight glanced at Night Wing silently ''Go home.'' he thought to himself Blackberry squeaked for her not to go. ''We better go home too Blackberry.'' Night said Blackberry shook his head trotting to Midnight hugging her leg. ''Ugh no Blackberry she's going home and we need to go home.'' ''Star can they come with us,'' Midnight asked. her sister Star glanced at his brother wondering if she should trust them. ''Fine, he and his, little pet can come too, mom needs to see who found her,'' Star said whisperer to her brother trotting back the way they came. ''He's not his pet he's his half-brother.'' Midnight said with a huff. ''she's defending me?'' his brother scampered off to catch Night Star biting his tail. ''Midnight get it off me!'' yelled Night Star. ''His name is Blackberry!.'' Midnight answered. ''Your mom, she is okay with dragons right.'' Night said nervously. ''She has a dislike for them. She won't get mad if one found me.''Midnight responded. ''That wasn't very reassuring. I am so grounded.''
Chapter 5 EarthCloud and ThunderCloudThunder flew over the sleeping town of PonyVille in his hooves was tired carrying the box of muffins the unicorn names StarDust out of kindness not to tell the guards. His sister was right where he left her hidden under a single mares one story house. Everyday the mare would leave her house unlocked letting the twins slip inside, to not give themselves away they slept in the living room and ate whatever scraps was available on the table either way the twins slept under the porch, It seems that tonight the mare did not show up, Earth Cloud was well inside with the living room one window and one lamp on. ''Thunder your back.'' cried his sister Thunder put the box on the coffee table. ''Did you bring back anything?'' Earth cloud smelled the box opening its lid with her muzzle. ''Muffins.'' she said taking a bite out of a muffin in the box. ''A unicorn gave that too me.'' Thunder said. EarthCloud ate away the muffins Thunder wasn't in the mood to eat. ''A unicorn, *Gasp* was it a guard?'' EarthCloud asked unfolding her wings. ''Not a guard, Earth cloud, she was a unicorn. Thunder replied looking out the window. ''She, gave me the box because i told her about you, she too had a twin brother tackled me after i stool their foalsitters saddlebag. ''Gave you it? what is she's a spy like the last one.'' EarthCloud said hiding under the table. ''She's not like the other ones EarthCloud, she had a pure heart i can tell, she and her brother did. I sensed something was wrong. A sibling was missing that's why she let me go.'' Thunder recalled. ''Twins like us cool can we meet them.'' earth cloud asked sitting on her favorite chair in the living room. ''Not sure, the brother looked defensive to me.'' Thunder said, ''That Pegasus tackled me good a little slow but he definitely been fighting in the past tackling me in one roll using all his weight to stop me from running.'' ''What does he look like~not that i'm interested in him.'' ''Dark blue, light blue and black striped mane, turquoise eyes.'' Thunder sighed ''Be my guest he, tackled me in the grass.'' ''Okay bye.'' without thinking EarthCloud squeezed out the window. ''EarthCloud get back here.'' Thunder grunted ''What is she thinking she's gonna get us caught. he said frantically flying out. What the ponies of PonyVille didn't know he and his sister, were not from this dimension. Coming from a planet known as Panora. Their planet was being attacked by a mysterious darkness their parents send them into Equestria for protection but the portal closed locking them in. Their existence unknown to PonyVille, Thunder and Earth Cloud were captured by a band of poachers who planned to sell them. In their original form they had four hooves in the front. The males resembled a dragon fly while the female resembled a butterfly nighttime was the worst for them with no pupils for eyes, glowing like a firefly, long antennas curving at the end. The glowing was a crystallized form a good price for any pony who got their hooves on them. No pony was to be trusted. EarthCloud fluttered her big butterfly wings in the moon light, crystallized sparkles few behind her. ''Which house is it Thunder?'' ''A weird two story house. Earth Cloud can we go back.''coaxed Thunder. ''Weird two story house.'' she said. ''There it is.'' ''Earth Cloud no pony spies on another pony sleeping.'' Thunder warned. ''He wakes up i'm screwed.'' ''Thunder its not spying if you make noise. Just a little peak won't hurt.'' his sister said ignorantly she peaked into one of the rooms her glowing light reflected on the window. ''Is that him?'' she said, i took a look the room was tightly cleaned. ''Dark blue mane, light blue horn.'' Thunder thrust EarthCloud to the other window. ''That's the sister do not look in there, uh you want the brother over there.'' he said his cheeks felt hot looking in the window of the pony who was generous to give him food to feed his sister. ''Hi there.'' EarthCloud said waving her hoof from the outside. Thunder heard a slight shout pulling his sister away from the window to have a look for himself. Inside this room was was a horrible mess, in the air was a hammock, on the floor was the dark blue Pegasus who attacked him that afternoon shaking with his blanket half way on his body. ''Is he afraid of us?'' questioned his sister the cult tripped on his blanket getting to the window. Opening it ThunderCloud stopped glowing to give the pegasus a recognizable face. ''Remember me.'' ''You.'' he said. EarthCloud got in between him and the angry cult his face telling he was still mad his sister let me get away. ''Thunder Cloud.'' ''You tackled my brother now say sorry.'' she said. with a blank face the cult glared his eyes to Thunder not even blinking''He really wants to fight me i told my older i was screwed.'' Earth Cloud shoved her butterfly wings and herself in the window pulling him out his own room. The Pegasus fell a little way down but flapped his large wings backwards and forwards to fly upright. ''Sorry for tackling you.'' he snorted. EarthCloud grabbed the cults face she eyed his curiously. ''Your just like Thunder told me you'd look like, your sister was very nice to my brother by the way." she said flying in a motion less circle. Yeah she's nice, on the inside, uh i hadn't got a chance to introduce myself, uh my name is Night Star my sister is asleep, you do not want and i repeat do not wake her up.'' Night Star said blocking Star Dust's window. ''This room is a mess so you even clean your room Night star.'' said her brother walking over a moldy sandwich. ''My room never looked this messy.'' he scoffed. ''Aye my room, my rules.'' NightStar said moving things around for a suitable sitting space the smell in the room was mile Earth Cloud sat beside her brother as Night Star left the room a clock ticked away on a night stand. ''I'm back, and i brought food.'' he said giving EarthCloud a tray of unknown sweets, colorful wrapped up candy, none that Thunder had brought last winter. ''Go on pick one.'' he said unwrapping a green wrapped candy, EarthCloud moved her hoof over to a blue piece of the candy because the candy was blue on the inside it matched her mane. Her brother grabbed a piece a candy with purple wrapping. ''These candies arent like the ones we eat back home.'' Thunder said chewing his candy, his coat flickered yellow. ''Whoa whats with the uh, glowing?'' asked Night Star reaching for another piece. ''We change color depending on how we feel.'' she demonstrating by smiling EarthClouds coat changed to a bright yellow. ''That was happiness.'' ''Candy on our planet makes us change color.'' added Thunder. ''Oh you two are, aliens?'' he said Thunder flashed red.'' I say something wrong.'' ''We'd prefer if you call us galactic beings alien is a wrong word of choice.'' EarthCloud corrected. ''My bad so why are you two here?'' Night Star asked. ''We come from another universe called Panora. Our dimension was in danger for protection out parents sent us through a portal. It never opened after that.'' Earth Cloud said lowering her ears. ''A band of poachers captured us. You see this glowing form Night Star, were crystallized at night we fled to PonyVille to hide from them. Our hiding spot a one story house owned by a yellow and orange mare.'' ThunderCloud explained to him. ''Orange and yellow~ Carrot Top! your hiding under my foalsitters house!.'' he said Earth Cloud put down her piece of candy glowing white and black. All these rules for a big house with fewer ponies back home such rules were way stricken, if one broke into another ponies home the pony who did it would spend a day in the scorching sun with no water any pony who chooses to help will suffer the same punishments. ''Any more rules we need to follow before we leave Earth Cloud can we please go back.'' pleaded Thunder. ''Wait hold on, uh you haven't seen the rest of the house yet.'' said NightStar. EarthCloud beamed bright yellow happy he stalled for her. ''Be very quiet, my younger sister brought a dragon home don't make a sound.'' he said sadly she and Thunder hovered in the air making Night Star look foolish. ''Never mind.'' The interior of his room was divided by three other rooms, a tree grew on the inside reaching up to a wide glass dome that circled the entirety of the rooms. ''I knew it. EarthCloud i knew something was wrong. A little sister? StarDust didn't snitch on be just because i had a twin, it was because she feared for her sisters life.'' Thunder whispered to her hovering down their living room. "Wow your house is ~ big.'' ThunderCloud said hovering over the furniture. ''Bigger than your foalsitters.'' ''Don't judge her guys, her job doesn't pay her enough to let her get a bigger house.'' Night Star said raising an eyebrow. ''Where is she now.'' said Thunder. ''In the guess room sleep, she was attacked by something in the EverFree she described as a big black thing with red eyes.'' Night Star said Earth cloud casts white, her brother knew exactly what the the Pegasus was describing. ''Thunder the portal~.'' ''No it was closed shut!'' he said flashing red, white, white, black. (We need to leave now! the portal may be open but it means the end of this dimension.) ''Portal?'' NightStar asked EarthCloud not time to chat Thunder dashed back up the stairs. ''Night Star, it was nice for letting us into your home, i'm afraid me and my brother need to go, its an emergency.'' she said nudging his cheek leaving a trail of light green sparkles leading up the stairs..

Shade never understood his position in the hive his sisters had one, he wasn't strong to be a drone, he wasn't sneaky like a spy, was not the fighting type like a warrior, babysitting his sisters in the nursery like a brood maid was out of the question, he cant dig or hunt as good. His place in his hive was nothing being the only brother saying only is like he's the last of his kind. ''Mom how come we don't feed on love like the other changelings? Shade asked his mom stepped lightly over his sleeping sisters still in larva or egg stage. ''Shade we are not savages like they are,'' she said cleaning her claws. ''Then why do we look different?'' Shade questioned. His mother picked up one of the broods struggling to fall asleep. ''Because. When I left my hive I learned I didn't need love to survive till I met your father without him we wouldn't look this way. With love this hive would not look this big, that is why I chose to live here and raise all of you not have rude attitudes.'' his mother said laying his sleeping sister back in the pods full of other larvae. Singing a low tune he watched his hive come to life the buzzing of wings and the constant chatter of his sisters his mom walked away down the halls because singing is their way of communicating through long distances sung a song to wake the whole hive at once. ''Mom I'm going outside for some fresh air.'' Shade said his mom nodded her head changing her song to a working melody. For changelings its eat, build, kill, defend, a lot for a single changeling having a gruesome queen like Chrysalis Shades aunt his moms cousin they don't talk much since her hive was destroyed, on the other hoof his hive was very much capable of doing all these things except for singing, on hottest of days Shades family sits on top of their diamond-shaped hive basking in the sun with leather skin to protect them from the harsh sun rays. Shades mom marked a small patch of territory just for him so he did not get in the way of his sisters working it didn't stretch that far as it was close to the dragon forest. As he looked at his surroundings shade walked into the lush evergreens ''Huh its a lot more quieter than last time he said gazing into the trees seeing no fluttering wings of birds, no crickets, frogs not one single locus broke the silence it wasn't the shadow blights dad spoke of something had scared away all the life in this on area shades ears heard birds but they all came from behind his hive staring at him like he was crazy to go in there. ''That's weird something must have spooked them.'' ''I spooked them more like I scared them.'' Shades spine shuttered at the voice who spoke turning his attention to the dark figure hanging upside down from the tree telling it was a mare he could not see her whole body only her dark pink colored eyes. ''This is weird, um hi I don't know who you are or why you scared well everything away.'' Shade said. Raising an eyebrow. ''I didn't mean to scare them on purpose they were afraid of me.'' the mare said. ''Afraid of you how?'' Shade asked. ''Would you like to see why they're afraid of me, do you what I am that makes them afraid of me?'' she said flying right side up away from the sunny clearing, She reached out a pale white hoof. ''You're a vampire?'' he said, trotting in the dark forest to see her better she had spiky purple mane two sets of white fangs under the mare's muzzle. ''Your not that scary,'' he said. ''Really? Most ponies are,'' she said spreading her wings. ''You kidding me my mom is way scarier when she's angry.'' Shade said recalling a time his sisters let a nasty snake into the hive, having two personalities her gentle sweeter side on the outside and the vicious queen she was meant to be on the inside. ''Mom? You call your queen mom?'' the mare asked. ''Queen is a strong word to call some pony who gave birth two you and your whole family.'' Shade said with a grin. ''You are from the vampire forest right.'' ''Yes, the prey in my territory moved to the dragon forest because half of the population left, I came here and got myself stuck, I need to get back before my dad realizes I was gone for too long,'' she said. Attached to her right leg was something green her horn glowed a sudden red levitated out a bottle with a yellow liquid inside pouring it on her burned hoof. ''Can I at least get your name before you go all recon out eh forest.'' ''Star Struck and your name?'' ''Shade, uh what is that stuff?'' ''Something I mixed together in case I got hurt, you have healers in your hive do you?'' Star Struck asked levitating the bottle into her leaf-shaped pocket. ''Some ponies gotta help you if your hurt.'' ''My hive? No mom never said we needed one.'' ''Then you are doomed. One of your family members get sick what do you do?'' she said Shade grew silent. ''Uh huh that's what I thought, no healer you die,'' Star said going to her tree to hang back upside down, Shade never new healers were so important did his family really need one? ''I guess we do need one.'' Shade said sheepishly backing up. ''You're leaving me here without saying goodbye, I need help you know,'' she asked. ''Help with what, you look like you got everything under controlled what you need my help for?'' ''Because I need something from your hive,'' Star asked messaging her burnt hoof. ''if its honey your in the wrong hive.'' Shade said stubbornly. ''Wasn't asking for that, I was asking for a changeling eggshell.'' Star Struck said lifting a wing. ''Eggshell right, you want it to go get it yourself,'' he said mocking the vampire in the tree. ''Hello, if I go in the sun I burn to ashes, simple vampire logic, if I go in their with you, your mother won't kill me.'' ''Uh simple changeling logic is that my mom none of the less thousand of my sisters will not let me bring some vampire into the hive, is that logical for you yet,'' he said his horn flickered in annoyance. ''Listen here Shade,'' Star said flying off her branch to stand to him her facial expression had a cold stare. ''It's logical your lying to me,'' Star said Shade held back a laugh, using his transformation spell he changed into an exact replica of Star Struck. ''It's logical your lying to me,'' he said mocking her every move. ''You little~'' Shade waved his well her tail in Star Struck's face. ''Good try but hypnotizing doesn't work on me sweetheart you'll hurt your tiny head.'' Shade said he began singing a solid tune drawing one of his sister to his location. ''Whats up Shade,'' said one she glanced at Star Struck almost bringing a hiss till shade covered her muzzle. ''what is a vampire doing here!'' ''She wants something from the hive, I told her she needs to speak with mom first,'' he said. ''I only want~'' star was silenced by a hiss from shades older sister. ''Mom won't believe me when I show her this.'' his sister said Shade grabbed a large leaf from the evergreen holding it over Star head. ''Ready to meet my mom.'' Shade said. ''As long as I get what I need, I'm sure I'm ready.'' The hive was called to the side entrance drones, spies, hunters flocked and buzzed around Star Struck as she stood before his mother drones at every angle is she even began to attack. ''shade. What is this?'' she asked firmly keeping a calm look. ''Mom this is~.'' ''Star Struck, daughter to the chief of vampires, Shade I thought we talked about bringing our enemies into the hive.'' his mom said approaching Star, the drones followed her every move waiting for her to give the signal. ''Speak.'' ''I do not here to attack you hive Mrs. Venus Shard, I am here to collect something for my mentor,'' Star said firmly. ''Very clever, you want something, name it,'' she said twitching an antenna snapping her mandibles. ''Eggshells, my mentor said changeling eggshells are a special remedy for the sick,'' Star said. With the calmest of faces Shade, mom threw back a smile. ''How lovely, how many do you need?'' she said. Shade could not believe what he was seeing, his mom being nice to some pony not of their kind, was he dreaming this? Did she hypnotize his mom? ''Girls, the waste basket please.'' she called. Six brood maids dragged a bag full of empty egg shells oozing with the liquid of last months hatching. ''Take as many as you want, we eat these sometimes but we can use some pony else to get rid of them for us,'' she said with a nasty grin. Star Struck plucked out five eggshells pouring the green slime in another bottle on her left leg. ''Thank you, mam,'' she said Shades jaw dropped, his mom, however, twitched her eyes in an unsettling manner. ''Come back if you want more,'' she said. Girls make sure shades friend gets back safely without burning.'' she said shade knew her mom was keeping her bad side in check the sudden jerking of the head made his sisters mover back. ''Bye Star Struck,'' he said Star flicked an ear-turning an ear as his sisters escorted her back to the evergreens. ''Shade.'' his mother jerked her head three times skittering her hooves over to him, Shade coward to the floor. ''Yes mom.'' ''Shade darling, my first son, You know I love you with all my heart, do you think it was a good idea to bring her here.'' ''No....mom.'' ''if she came without you, I would have KILLED HER, do you think I will let any of your sisters do that!.'' yelled Shades mom. ''No mom.'' Shade said the hive silenced at the power she put into her voice. ''Dad would~'' ''HE'S DEAD!'' she screamed Shade lowered his antennas, the drones came out of hiding. ''Dads dead, you said he was somewhere else,'' they said. ''I lied, I lied to keep all of you from finding out,'' she said breaking down into tears. ''He left to go save Equestria from a threat, I am so sorry.'' Shades chest ached to turn away running outside to avoid the massive crying his sisters began singing.
