Sorry! I'm just rather excited for this. I mean, I've always been a student and never really a teacher except for Rainbow of course aaaand I'm rambling, l-let me start over. Ahem...Hello there readers! My name as you know is Twilight Sparkle. My friend Rarity presented me and our other friends with this chance to communicate with all of you. I'm not entirely sure how this device works, but I've been promised it will be explained to me in exchange for my explanations and teachings that I can offer to all of you. I've been told to keep each of these segments to one to three topics at the maximum even though there is so much I would love to talk about. Perhaps the biggest one I want to discuss is the one closest to me. MAGIC Magic is...Such an amazing thing. It can do many fantastic things and of course it does have it's limits...But that is dabbling in forbidden and dangerous territory. Ignoring the dangers, and things you really should not attempt, Magic IS limitless. The only true limit to Magic is the Pool within each Magian and the skill of each Magian. There are a few key factors here to discuss. Mana, Pools, and Skill. Mana is all around us. It is a living breathing force of nature that influences almost everything in many different ways. It is not only touched by Magians, but by all races in their own way. The difference with Magians and other races is that Magians can SEE Mana and even pull it within themselves in order to cast spells or to do simple things such as telekinesis. And that brings us to the next point. Pools. Within each Magian is a pool. Imagine a bowl that you can fill with water. You pour a bit of water out of it at a time and slowly add more when its needed. That is basically the idea of how Magians and Mana work. Each Magian has a different sized pool which allows them to hold varying amounts of Mana. Certain spells require a larger amount of mana to cast and therefore Magians with the ability to hold more mana often have the ability to cast more complicated spells. This gives some Magians a bit of an unfair advantage over others, but there are some that rise above their lack of Perfect Genetics And this is where Skill comes in. I was born with a spoon in my mouth, the ability to hold a massive amount of Mana, a thirst to master all avenues of Magic and the Princess herself to teach me all I could ever want to learn. So I am not a great example, despite my skill at magic, I have advantages that others don't. But there are spells that even I cannot gather enough Mana for. And so skill in casting becomes a necessity. Innovation in magic has allowed for the ability to cast spells in parts, something my father actually discovered in his younger days. While my father's family line is full of Magians with Large Pools, his Pool is surprisingly small, almost like a childs and it has been for his entire life. But my Father is still a force to be reckoned with in the world of Magic due to his discoveries. The process is simple in theory. With an understanding of what is required in Advanced Spell-casting, one breaks up the spell into connectable parts that match up with how much Mana one can hold. You don't want to cast a part that requires ALL the Mana you can hold. All Magians hold on to at least a shred of Mana at all times. Draining yourself completely is almost the same as bleeding out... So the idea is to hold ALMOST as much Mana as possible and use about half of that for the first part of the spell, hold it firm, and regather Mana for the next part. For my father, most spells are broken into about twenty to thirty parts, but he casts them almost as quickly as I can simply gather Mana and lift a book. He freely shared this technique and ever since it has been taught in Schools across Terra. Sorry, I'm just really proud of him. In this manner it is possible for any Magian to become skilled enough to cast any type of spell with any amount of Mana. You all might remember a lesson Scootaloo and her friends learned about The Great Pool, and my discussion with Rainbow Dash about how Magians live longer lives. Those who are greatly intuned with the Mana of the world, as Magians are, are in contact with The Great Pool. You might recall I referred to these Pools as Bowls that hold water, which is why we refer to them as Pools. The Great Pool holds ALL the Mana in the known world. Yes? How is Mana all around us if its all held in the Great Pool? Excellent Question! Here, let me stand up. Now...where do you think I am standing? Right in front of you, right? Well, you are right, and wrong. I am standing in The Great Pool. Terra, our home, this world, IS The Great Pool. Or at least a part of it. Think back to the Bowl. Take that Bowl and place a bit of plastic over top. We are standing on top of that bit of Plastic and the Water below us is Mana. Now we poke a few holes in the plastic and heat up the water. It steams and some rises out of those holes and reaches us. We put ourselves and the bowl in a little bubble and soon the air is full of this steam that cycles around from the clouds, back into the ground and water in a never ending cycle. And so, we are standing within The Great Pool, at the very least, its top layer. Oh there's so much more I want to discuss, but I think that's all the time I am allowed. Let's see...The first question is from PosionMaster1243 and it says Twilight, do you think with enough mana, you could go to a different dimension where you could meet a different version of yourself. Like a version of that is a Mother, a Changeling, a Vampire, and so on That's a rather wonderful question, especially given our previous topic. I personally think it would be possible, but a single Magian alone wouldn't be able to accomplish such a feat. Though there are several Magians working on exploring unknown corners of Magic and of our dimension and others. There are infinite possibilities out there. For every decision each person has made, their other selves did something else in those other realms. I now know that Vampires exist, so there is a very high chance that somewhere out there I exist as a Vampire. As for being a Mother...who Knows, maybe another version of myself was more social during her time in Celamont. As for Changeling, I honestly don't know much about them. I've only heard stories, but I have come to understand many stories hold more truth than the truth I have been told. The stories say they are grotesque creatures that latch on to someone like a parasite and feed off of them. But the stories I heard about vampires said they were evil, hideous, soulless creatures of the Night. Rarity, Vinyl, and Sweetie Belle are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. So maybe I have misunderstood Changelings as well. And maybe there is a Changeling version of me out there. Though I don't know how it would be possible. Can Changelings be created? Or are they simply born? I need to do some research... Now I can't help but wonder what other versions of me are like and I feel I have to delve deeper into this. Though there is a beautiful mix in both that has to be understood and is difficult to explain on a basic level that everyone can understand. Timberwolves have amazin' night vision and ah was reactin' on instinct an crushed my flashlight th' moment one of em lunged fer me. But you still fought them off rather valiantly! After she came to my rescue and was starting to bleed everywhere I panicked and did my best to stitch her wounds closed. It started to rain soon after and we had to rush to find shelter. In the dark and lost as we were there was no chance of stumbling upon our camp until morning. So ah asked fer help. We were surrounded by trees for miles, so ah jus' asked if'n any of em could keep us warm fer th' night. Turns out one of em was mostly hollow an let me clean it out for us to huddle up in. Applejack kept me safe and warm. She gave me her Jacket and held me in her arms for the entirety of the storm and the night...Even when I awoke she was right there, wide awake and keeping an eye out for any more danger It was th' right thing t' do. Those are actually called Harpies and they live in the beast lands. Skyborn are humans gifted with flight. Harpies are 'bird people'. Wow Belle, when did ya'll get so smart? Basically turns a Skyborns Wings to nothin' and tears em apart from the inside out. I don't really know all the fancy science stuff behind it, but Twilight's magic and that potion keep it held back. Than regular blood from others... is that true? Does Applejacks blood give you more power than others? Also how exactly does that work? And another question for you darling: I understand how you don't want to be a fighter and how uncouth it is for such a fashion forward woman like yourself, but don't you think training with Vinyl might be a good idea? Especially if you had Applejack there with you? It could be a good way for you to learn more and become much stronger, plus the two of you could train together and find a cohesion between the two of you. And while I understand that a lady doesn't fight, and being saved is always nice, I can't imagine how you would feel darling if something were to happen to Applejack and you couldn't do anything to stop it... no offense, Applejack. You are very capable in your own rights, but I feel the two of you together would be an unstoppable duo, and you should encourage Rarity to be as strong and beautiful as she can be! Well, Applety, um...blood... From what ah know 'bout it, it ain't so much t' fuss over. Well, yes but there are a few points to be made Darling. First and foremost, you are correct. The blood of a loved one does provide a vampire with more strength than that of blood forcefully taken. On another note, Fresh blood is far more invigorating than donated and packaged blood. I've heard word that there's work being done on Synthetic blood as well to ease the load on donors. As for how does it all work. Well, Applejack is a rather powerful Gaian, her family line borne of Terra herself. When a vampire feeds they gain a bit of who and what that person is. You'll recall that after the little incident between Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo in the hospital that she took off rather quickly. This is because she fed from a very quick Skyborn and was gifted a bit of her speed in the process. In that same sense, I am gifted Applejacks almost godlike strength for a short time. This of course is amplified by our relation to one another and once more because the blood is given freely. So every time ya'll git a nibble o' me ya'll become as strong as me huh? Ah knew it made ya stronger, jus' didn't know it made ya THAT strong. Power isn't everything Darling... Is this 'bout that change thing again? Yes...And it is the reason I do not want to be a Fighter. Just because I am a lady doesn't mean I do not have to get my hands dirty. Everyone should know how to protect themselves in some manner. But it is different with me...What if I were to lose control? What if I slipped back into that madness? And sure, training with Vinyl is my best option...having Applejack by my side helps quite a bit, but that only worries me more. If I finish this training and still lose control...Well, I'd just be an even more powerful monster than I am now. And before you can get a chance to argue Darling, I want you to understand...I still plan on going through with all of this. For the sheer fact that it must be done. Whether I like it or not, I've been picked to defend our home and I will not stand idly by while my friends and loved ones risk everything. That's th' Rarity ah know an love. So I'll be answering this question What makes Gilda different than a Skyborn Gilda is a Griffanion. Sort of an in-between of Beastkin and Human. Skyborn like me can fly, manipulate weather and even conduct electricity. The last one is a bit of a neat trick that not everyone can pull off, super important for Weather duty though. But Griffanion's are different. They can transform like Beastkin, not entirely though. Spike can go full on giant fire breathing lizard mode, while G can only shift a pair of wings and claws. Griffanion's can walk on clouds like Skyborn, but they can't control weather like us. Griffanion's are also gluttons for war and combat. Most of them dedicate their entire lives to fighting. Hell there are more Griffanion's in the Flight Academy than Skyborn, I dunno how many more, but at least double. Course, not every Skyborn goes into the Academy Gilda isn't any different than the rest of them. Sure, she gave me the push I needed, but I can bet she was just trying to groom another perfect soldier. Okay Rainbow, I think you have more than answered the question. Is Magic and Science the same thing? Well, I can't speak for other worlds, I haven't had the chance to really explore any beyond what little I have learned from all of you and this device. And while Science and Magic are not exactly the same thing, we can't have either without the other. Furthering our understanding of Science helps us to better understand the world around us, which helps us to better understand Magic. Advances in Magic also help boost advances in Science. Combining the two leads us to many wonderful things. A good example would be Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash. A combination of powerful magic and advanced science makes it possible for them to survive a life threatening disease. The two together are what have made this Beta Cure possible. While I am here there's a few other questions I would like to take care of, namely Twilight, how is the research into other dimensions coming along? Sadly not so well. There are scientists already hard at work uncovering the secrets of other realities and their research is off limits to me. And before anyone asks, no, I will not pull the 'I am Celestia's Prized Pupil' card to obtain that research from them. It wouldn't be fair to all the work they have put in to it. When they are ready to share their findings, they will, and I'll look into things on my end as well. And yes, I used that card to get Rainbows mothers notes, but that is research no one else is looking into, research of a woman who lost herself and research that was left to gather dust. It was not stolen from someone, but brought back to light in order to improve upon it. There is also a question here for Fluttershy which...oddly enough she left me a note about moments before the question arrived. I have a question for Fluttershy, sorry if this seems a bit out there. Twilight: MagicSorry! Sorry! I'm just rather excited for this. I mean, I've always been a student and never really a teacher except for Rainbow of course aaaand I'm rambling, l-let me start over. Ahem...Hello there readers! My name as you know is Twilight Sparkle. My friend Rarity presented me and our other friends with this chance to communicate with all of you. I'm not entirely sure how this device works, but I've been promised it will be explained to me in exchange for my explanations and teachings that I can offer to all of you. I've been told to keep each of these segments to one to three topics at the maximum even though there is so much I would love to talk about. Perhaps the biggest one I want to discuss is the one closest to me. MAGIC Magic is...Such an amazing thing. It can do many fantastic things and of course it does have it's limits...But that is dabbling in forbidden and dangerous territory. Ignoring the dangers, and things you really should not attempt, Magic IS limitless. The only true limit to Magic is the Pool within each Magian and the skill of each Magian. There are a few key factors here to discuss. Mana, Pools, and Skill. Mana is all around us. It is a living breathing force of nature that influences almost everything in many different ways. It is not only touched by Magians, but by all races in their own way. The difference with Magians and other races is that Magians can SEE Mana and even pull it within themselves in order to cast spells or to do simple things such as telekinesis. And that brings us to the next point. Pools. Within each Magian is a pool. Imagine a bowl that you can fill with water. You pour a bit of water out of it at a time and slowly add more when its needed. That is basically the idea of how Magians and Mana work. Each Magian has a different sized pool which allows them to hold varying amounts of Mana. Certain spells require a larger amount of mana to cast and therefore Magians with the ability to hold more mana often have the ability to cast more complicated spells. This gives some Magians a bit of an unfair advantage over others, but there are some that rise above their lack of Perfect Genetics And this is where Skill comes in. I was born with a spoon in my mouth, the ability to hold a massive amount of Mana, a thirst to master all avenues of Magic and the Princess herself to teach me all I could ever want to learn. So I am not a great example, despite my skill at magic, I have advantages that others don't. But there are spells that even I cannot gather enough Mana for. And so skill in casting becomes a necessity. Innovation in magic has allowed for the ability to cast spells in parts, something my father actually discovered in his younger days. While my father's family line is full of Magians with Large Pools, his Pool is surprisingly small, almost like a childs and it has been for his entire life. But my Father is still a force to be reckoned with in the world of Magic due to his discoveries. The process is simple in theory. With an understanding of what is required in Advanced Spell-casting, one breaks up the spell into connectable parts that match up with how much Mana one can hold. You don't want to cast a part that requires ALL the Mana you can hold. All Magians hold on to at least a shred of Mana at all times. Draining yourself completely is almost the same as bleeding out... So the idea is to hold ALMOST as much Mana as possible and use about half of that for the first part of the spell, hold it firm, and regather Mana for the next part. For my father, most spells are broken into about twenty to thirty parts, but he casts them almost as quickly as I can simply gather Mana and lift a book. He freely shared this technique and ever since it has been taught in Schools across Terra. Sorry, I'm just really proud of him. In this manner it is possible for any Magian to become skilled enough to cast any type of spell with any amount of Mana. You all might remember a lesson Scootaloo and her friends learned about The Great Pool, and my discussion with Rainbow Dash about how Magians live longer lives. Those who are greatly intuned with the Mana of the world, as Magians are, are in contact with The Great Pool. You might recall I referred to these Pools as Bowls that hold water, which is why we refer to them as Pools. The Great Pool holds ALL the Mana in the known world. Yes? How is Mana all around us if its all held in the Great Pool? Excellent Question! Here, let me stand up. Now...where do you think I am standing? Right in front of you, right? Well, you are right, and wrong. I am standing in The Great Pool. Terra, our home, this world, IS The Great Pool. Or at least a part of it. Think back to the Bowl. Take that Bowl and place a bit of plastic over top. We are standing on top of that bit of Plastic and the Water below us is Mana. Now we poke a few holes in the plastic and heat up the water. It steams and some rises out of those holes and reaches us. We put ourselves and the bowl in a little bubble and soon the air is full of this steam that cycles around from the clouds, back into the ground and water in a never ending cycle. And so, we are standing within The Great Pool, at the very least, its top layer. Oh there's so much more I want to discuss, but I think that's all the time I am allowed. Let's see...The first question is from PosionMaster1243 and it says Twilight, do you think with enough mana, you could go to a different dimension where you could meet a different version of yourself. Like a version of that is a Mother, a Changeling, a Vampire, and so on That's a rather wonderful question, especially given our previous topic. I personally think it would be possible, but a single Magian alone wouldn't be able to accomplish such a feat. Though there are several Magians working on exploring unknown corners of Magic and of our dimension and others. There are infinite possibilities out there. For every decision each person has made, their other selves did something else in those other realms. I now know that Vampires exist, so there is a very high chance that somewhere out there I exist as a Vampire. As for being a Mother...who Knows, maybe another version of myself was more social during her time in Celamont. As for Changeling, I honestly don't know much about them. I've only heard stories, but I have come to understand many stories hold more truth than the truth I have been told. The stories say they are grotesque creatures that latch on to someone like a parasite and feed off of them. But the stories I heard about vampires said they were evil, hideous, soulless creatures of the Night. Rarity, Vinyl, and Sweetie Belle are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. So maybe I have misunderstood Changelings as well. And maybe there is a Changeling version of me out there. Though I don't know how it would be possible. Can Changelings be created? Or are they simply born? I need to do some research... Now I can't help but wonder what other versions of me are like and I feel I have to delve deeper into this. As for the whole couple thing, well, we were out with 'Shy an Dash on this campin' trip an Rarity over here tried to go find civilization so she could use a real bathroom. How could you all expect me to go in the woods like some animal?! Anyway, she didn't really get too far when she stumbled across some Timberwolves. Was weird for em t' be out there in the first place, musta been blown 'bout by a storm or somethin'. They weren't too happy t' see Rares, lemme tell ya. Anyway, ah found her runnin' fer her life from those things an it was a brutal fight. Timberwolves have amazin' night vision and ah was reactin' on instinct an crushed my flashlight th' moment one of em lunged fer me. But you still fought them off rather valiantly! Even without being able to see them! Hey wait, you can see in th' dark, can't ya Rares? Well I mean, o-only if I am well kept Darling. N-Not that you needed my help anyway! Heh, they weren't so tough. Ah did get a couple nicks here an there though. They nearly tore off your hand Applejack... Ah recovered jus' fine. Yes, well. After she came to my rescue and was starting to bleed everywhere I panicked and did my best to stitch her wounds closed. It started to rain soon after and we had to rush to find shelter. In the dark and lost as we were there was no chance of stumbling upon our camp until morning. So ah asked fer help. We were surrounded by trees for miles, so ah jus' asked if'n any of em could keep us warm fer th' night. Turns out one of em was mostly hollow an let me clean it out for us to huddle up in. Applejack kept me safe and warm. She gave me her Jacket and held me in her arms for the entirety of the storm and the night...Even when I awoke she was right there, wide awake and keeping an eye out for any more danger It was th' right thing t' do. Fragile little lady like yerself woulda probably melted if we stayed in th' rain any longer Hardy har har Darling, don't ruin the moment. As for the other part of your question...I've never been a fan of what I am. Innocent people are dead because of this...this monster that I am. Now hold on! Does Applejacks blood give you more power than others? Also how exactly does that work? And another question for you darling: I understand how you don't want to be a fighter and how uncouth it is for such a fashion forward woman like yourself, but don't you think training with Vinyl might be a good idea? Especially if you had Applejack there with you? It could be a good way for you to learn more and become much stronger, plus the two of you could train together and find a cohesion between the two of you. And while I understand that a lady doesn't fight, and being saved is always nice, I can't imagine how you would feel darling if something were to happen to Applejack and you couldn't do anything to stop it... no offense, Applejack. Well, Applety, um...blood... From what ah know 'bout it, it ain't so much t' fuss over. Well, yes but there are a few points to be made Darling. First and foremost, you are correct. The blood of a loved one does provide a vampire with more strength than that of blood forcefully taken. On another note, Fresh blood is far more invigorating than donated and packaged blood. I've heard word that there's work being done on Synthetic blood as well to ease the load on donors. As for how does it all work. Well, Applejack is a rather powerful Gaian, her family line borne of Terra herself. When a vampire feeds they gain a bit of who and what that person is. You'll recall that after the little incident between Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo in the hospital that she took off rather quickly. This is because she fed from a very quick Skyborn and was gifted a bit of her speed in the process. In that same sense, I am gifted Applejacks almost godlike strength for a short time. This of course is amplified by our relation to one another and once more because the blood is given freely. So every time ya'll git a nibble o' me ya'll become as strong as me huh? Ah knew it made ya stronger, jus' didn't know it made ya THAT strong. Power isn't everything Darling... Is this 'bout that change thing again? Yes...And it is the reason I do not want to be a Fighter. Just because I am a lady doesn't mean I do not have to get my hands dirty. Everyone should know how to protect themselves in some manner. But it is different with me...What if I were to lose control? What if I slipped back into that madness? And sure, training with Vinyl is my best option...having Applejack by my side helps quite a bit, but that only worries me more. If I finish this training and still lose control...Well, I'd just be an even more powerful monster than I am now. And before you can get a chance to argue Darling, I want you to understand...I still plan on going through with all of this. For the sheer fact that it must be done. Whether I like it or not, I've been picked to defend our home and I will not stand idly by while my friends and loved ones risk everything. That's th' Rarity ah know an love. Comment Questions 6 - Rainbow/Twilight/FluttershyI refuse to let that military fuck in this room. So I'll be answering this question What makes Gilda different than a Skyborn Gilda is a Griffanion. Sort of an in-between of Beastkin and Human. Skyborn like me can fly, manipulate weather and even conduct electricity. The last one is a bit of a neat trick that not everyone can pull off, super important for Weather duty though. But Griffanion's are different. They can transform like Beastkin, not entirely though. Spike can go full on giant fire breathing lizard mode, while G can only shift a pair of wings and claws. Griffanion's can walk on clouds like Skyborn, but they can't control weather like us. Griffanion's are also gluttons for war and combat. Most of them dedicate their entire lives to fighting. Hell there are more Griffanion's in the Flight Academy than Skyborn, I dunno how many more, but at least double. Course, not every Skyborn goes into the Academy Gilda isn't any different than the rest of them. Sure, she gave me the push I needed, but I can bet she was just trying to groom another perfect soldier. Okay Rainbow, I think you have more than answered the question. You don't know em like I do Twi. Well I won't fault you that, but lets not badmouth an entire species to another dimension, please? Fine, they have questions for you anyway. Is Magic and Science the same thing? Well, I can't speak for other worlds, I haven't had the chance to really explore any beyond what little I have learned from all of you and this device. And while Science and Magic are not exactly the same thing, we can't have either without the other. Furthering our understanding of Science helps us to better understand the world around us, which helps us to better understand Magic. Advances in Magic also help boost advances in Science. Combining the two leads us to many wonderful things. A good example would be Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash. A combination of powerful magic and advanced science makes it possible for them to survive a life threatening disease. The two together are what have made this Beta Cure possible. While I am here there's a few other questions I would like to take care of, namely Twilight, how is the research into other dimensions coming along? Sadly not so well. There are scientists already hard at work uncovering the secrets of other realities and their research is off limits to me. And before anyone asks, no, I will not pull the 'I am Celestia's Prized Pupil' card to obtain that research from them. It wouldn't be fair to all the work they have put in to it. When they are ready to share their findings, they will, and I'll look into things on my end as well. And yes, I used that card to get Rainbows mothers notes, but that is research no one else is looking into, research of a woman who lost herself and research that was left to gather dust. It was not stolen from someone, but brought back to light in order to improve upon it.
