When a homeless pony wanders up to Sweet Apple Acres in hopes of scoring a meal and night's shelter he doesn't expect anything more than that, but as his relationship to the Apple family develops, and Applejack in particular, his old ties and harsh memories clash with new emotions, causing serious introspection. At the same time, a group of foreigners search for him, seeking payment of debts owed.
