Broken Horn, Fixed Heart
A Life Put Back Together (Edited)
Previous ChapterTwo months have passed since your pleasurable night with your lover, Tempest Shadow. In those months, you had planned on taking her to an event called the Grand Galloping Gala. At the same time, you’ve been working overtime at your job to save up for something special for the night of the party. Princess Celestia being the generous pony she was, had given you two tickets so you could bring Tempest with you.
The working hours at the restaurant were tough, with all the rude customers who still shunned you for not being like them, but to you, it ironically felt more like a compliment than an insult. Frankly, you despise these snooty rich ponies, as they show no respect or any manners at all.
One time while you were out on another date with Tempest, this rich married couple, Jet Set and Upper Crust scoffed because they thought that your relationship was unsanitary and wouldn’t last long. Even though Tempest was usually as sweet as possible, she was still a very powerful fighter and threatened the married couple to leave the two of you alone or she’d send them to the hospital in body bags. And of course, her threats were successful.
As for her follower and former henchman, Grubber, she knew he had always admired her and followed her every command. However she was able to make it up to him by taking him out to this bakery that made the most delicious cakes in all of Canterlot.
Even though Tempest didn’t feel the same way about Grubber, she still chose to let him stay by her side like a true friend would, and even humored him with an occasional peck on the forehead. You felt relieved that Grubber was at least semi-happy, but you still felt bad that he never had a chance. On the bright side however, he warmed up to you completely and you two had become best pals.
Soon, the Grand Galloping Gala had finally arrived and you even picked out a special present for Tempest that you knew she would love. Right now, you and Tempest were at the entrance to the castle. You wore a tuxedo, while Tempest wore a beautiful, dark purple dress she had purchased from Canterlot Carousel. She had also changed the style of her mane so that it hung over the side of her face, covering her scar,
You both walked inside the castle and up the stairs, greeting the princesses and their husbands. Walking up to the guards, you reached into your pocket and presented the tickets to them. Immediately, the guards moved aside and allowed you and Tempest access into the party.
Climbing up the flight of stairs, the two of you found yourselves in quite an impressive party. This was your first time being at the gala, just as it was for Tempest. Looking around, you saw that the nobles were drinking wine and chatting about business and such. Not that neither of you cared about it.
“Ventus, this place is amazing!” Tempest exclaimed.
“No kidding. I can’t believe they host this fancy party only once a year,” you replied.
“So, what do you want to do?" she asks
“Well, I was thinking we could have a dance. Believe it or not, the food is fancy, but lacks taste.”
Tempest giggled. “Please, lead the way, Ventus.” Gently took your marefriend by the hand, you led her straight to the ballroom where a group of ponies were already playing the music for the waltz. You turned and gave Tempest your full attention as you held her left hand with your right hand. You then wrapped your left arm around her waist and twirled around in the middle of the ballroom dance floor with the others.
The whole time you two danced, you never stopped looking into her eyes, nor did you stop smiling at her. She smiled back at you and had a noticeable blush on her beautiful face. It made you chuckle and leaned in to kiss her on the lips before whispering in her ear.
“You’re so light on your hooves, Tempest,” you complimented, making her giggle.
“Why thank you, Ventus. You’re not so bad, yourself,” she whispered back. After you finished dancing, the two of you decided to look at the moon from the balcony.
“Tonight, my heart is bursting! I am the happiest man alive.”
“And I’m the luckiest mare alive.”
“The construction of Canterlot is finally finished. What are you going to do now?” you asked putting on hand on her shoulder.
“Honestly, I’ve been considering going back to my home village. I admit I’m still a little upset. Now that the Storm King is dead and the Staff of Sacanas has been sealed away, there’s no way to restore my horn.”
You couldn’t stand seeing your marefriend like this. Lifting her chin you pressed your lips against hers, making her smile again.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself, Tempest. You’re still the lovely unicorn I fell in love with and nothing will make me feel any differently. Besides, Twilight was right, even though it’s broken, you’re horn still very powerful.”
You saw this as good a time as any. “Tempest, can I ask you something?”
“Sure, Ventus. What do you need?” she asked raising an eyebrow.
“The past few months that we’ve spent together have truly been the best of my life. When you guided me through this rich city, I felt like I was saved by a guardian angel. Even though we've had a rough start at some time in our lives, you helped me to keep moving forward just as I helped you open up your heart.”
“Aww, thanks Ventus. That’s very sweet of you.”
“You’re welcome, Tempest. And that is why I feel like I can finally ask you the one question that’s been plaguing my mind for quite some time now.” You stopped dancing and got down on one knee before pulling out a little box out of your pocket and presented it to Tempest.
Being the perceptive unicorn she was, Tempest knew exactly what you were planning, but didn’t say a word, as she didn’t want to spoil the surprise. You opened up the box and presented her a beautiful golden ring with a diamond on the tip that sparkled so brightly that anyone who looked at it too close would end up blind.
“After I lost my twin, I became a broken man, but you put the pieces of my life back together. Before I asked you to be my mare, but tonight I ask you to be my wife. Tempest Shadow, will you marry me?” you ask her, wholeheartedly.
Tempest gasped and leaned down, giving you a big hug and a long kiss. You hugged her back and let her hold the kiss until she broke free for air and looked at you with a smile on her beautiful face.
“Oh, Ventus! Of course I’ll marry you! Nothing could possibly make me happier than to be your wife!” she exclaimed with happy tears falling down her cheeks. When she accepted your proposal, your heart felt like it was sky-rocketing to the moon. After wiping her tears, Tempest gives you her left hand and you put the ring on her ring finger. You both stand up and look at each other again, holding your hands and leaned in close to each other.
“I have a little surprise for you too,” Tempest whispered in your ear before releasing you from the hug. As she put a hand onto her stomach, you quickly got the message, but you allowed Tempest to say it anyway. “I’m pregnant.”
You mentally felt yourself jumping with joy when she said that and you hugged her gently so you wouldn’t hurt the unborn foal inside her. “I’ve always wanted to be a father!”
Tempest smiled as she returned the embrace. “Wish granted. I love you Ventus.”
“I love you too Tempest, with all my heart.”
It was at this point that Tempest was ready to admit something else. “Actually, Tempest Shadow isn’t my real name,” she admitted as her cheeks turn red.
You raised an eyebrow. “Really, then what is it?” you asked.
“It’s... Fizzlepop Berrytwist...” she whispered into your ear.
“That’s a cute name. But, you know, whether you’re called by Tempest or Fizzlepop, I still love all the same.” you said.
