Chapter One- Spilled Blood
It had been a long day for Twilight Sparkle as the day was coming to its end. She had done all of her duties she could for the most. A letter to princess Luna on account of getting ready for Nightmare Night. She had big plans to make this year a hit, even Flutter Shy was in on it. For such a shy mare, it surprised Twilight greatly that she would be a part of the holiday this year. Especially with how easy she could be scared, she was scared of her own shadow even. None the less, Twilight was deep in thought as she walked home on the cold night.
"Oh how I miss my treehouse, it was always so cozy on these chilly nights. But at least the castle is cozy as well, just not to what I'd really like. Oh how I miss waking up to somepony knocking at my door with a probl- actually, I'm pretty happy I don't get woken up like that anymore." The magenta coated alicorn muttered to herself as she shivered in the wind. She was happy with her castle and her friends, but the treehouse would always have a place in her heart. After all, it was where she started. Without it, who knows what would have happened? She may never have met her friends for all she knew.
In the very back of her mind, she was feeling quite reminiscent about the whole experience. She was a smart mare back then, but she had no idea how much she needed friendship or how much fun she could have with her friends. Let alone all the good she could do, it was a wonderfully warm feeling deep down and she cherished it. Oh if only she knew the night's future events as something crept up behind her, silent as the night itself. Twilight had no idea of the danger that followed her.
The castle wasn't too far now, just past the last house and then up the path. "I cannot wait to lay down and get some sleep, I have so much I have to do tomorrow if we're going to pull this off. I have to first check with Rarity and make sure that she can have the costumes ready." She paused for a moment and looked behind her. Seeing nothing, she continued her train of thought aloud. "Then I'll need to see what I will owe Applejack for the party and then with Pinkie to pl-Wait no, I should check with Pinkie first to double check with what we need." Twilight finished her train of thought as she passed the last house on the stretch. She was ready for the morning that would never come to her as the being from the dark emerged from the shadows and picked up the pace.
Twilight's ear twitched slightly as she barely heard a pair of hooves behind her. She sighed and tried to play along, Pinkie and Rainbow Dash loved to pull pranks around this time of year. With that in mind, she started to hum a gentle tune, as if fully unaware. "Nice try Pinkie, but I'm not going to fall for that." Twilight thought to herself as she put her hoof on the doorknob of the door to her castle. Home free, almost.
"Oh how wrong you were Twilight, oh just how wrong you were." A voice whispered into her ear before she felt a strong leg wrap around her throat and pull her back. The being let out a loud hiss as it dragged Twilight back in a victorious fashion. Luckily, Twilight was able to place a back hoof into whoever was dragging her and push them away. Quickly, Twilight turned around to see who it was, not that she had the chance before a cold hoof collided with her side and knocked the wind out of her. She stumbled slightly and coughed as she tried to get some air into her. She succeeded for a moment before another hoof collided with her side, much strong than the last. She stumbled once more, unsure of what to do before she tried to project a bubble around herself.
It must've been the nick of time because she heard a hoof collide with the bubble, luckily not breaking it. It was a strong shield spell. but not against physical attacks. It was the best Twilight could do right now as she tried to identity her attacker. She looked all around as she heaved heavily, only to find a pair of red eyes staring directly at her. She gulped as she stepped back from the eyes, feeling the danger radiate from them as heart skipped a beat. She knew she had a book about something like this, oh what was it? She couldn't remember and now sure wasn't the time as a red glow appeared above the pair of eyes. "Oh great, it's a unicorn." Twilight whispered to herself and prepared a spell. "Come on focus Twi-"
She was all to slow however as the attacking unicorn destroyed her bubble in a second and a bright flash of red that blinded Twilight. She stumbled backwards and covered her eyes. But it was far from over as she felt a body collide with hers and push her against the cold, hard unforgiving ground. She struggled and thrashed her hooves around before her attack pinned them down. As a last resort of panic, Twilight's horn began to glow as she accidentally teleported the two of them somewhere into the EverFree.
Her attacker hissed and slammed its hoof into her horn. Twilight yelped loudly and whimpered as the first of many tears slid down her face. She was beyond beaten now and she couldn't call for help if she wanted. But at least she could see her attacked with the moonlight shining perfectly down upon it. It, was a unicorn mare. Except, she looked as if she had been in a fire. Her body was charred by the looks of it, one ear was even in half with blood freshly dripping from it. Twilight silently shook in fear as more tears fell down her face. "W-what do you want!" Twilight screamed at the beast above her and cowered as the unnamed mare hissed. She was scared beyond her belief, her heart was racing as if it would pop out of her chest. And with no magic to use with her horn aching, she was useless.
"Shut your little mouth you pathetic excuse of a princess. Before I have to cram my hoof down your throat, got it?" The mare finally spoke, but in a commanding raspy voice. Twilight could smell smoke and perhaps even melted flesh. The unamed mare grinned as she exposed a pair of razor sharp fangs to Twilight. Her eyes widened as she screamed internally. There was no way this was happening. It had to be a dream, she couldn't die here. No, it couldn't be true. Twilight shook her head as her fear only increased.
The mare leaned down and sniffed at Twilight's neck, silently moaning as if she smelled delightful. Twilight could only imagine the sick thoughts, but she couldn't do much more otherwise. "Please don't do whatever yo-" Twilight couldn't even finish her sentence as the mare put a hoof over her mouth and dragged her fangs over Twilight's soft neck. She shook even more and cried, her tears falling into the forest floor as the mare antagonized her. The mare in question had quite literally beat Twilight and now, she wasn't sure what to expect other than for a myth to become reality.
"You're going to taste delicious and unless you want to die painfully, you're going to keep your mouth shut. Understand?" The mare asked and Twilight regretfully nodded her head as the mare gently kissed her lips. Twilight blushed in confusion, she had expected a bite, not a kiss. Sensing her confusion, the mare chuckled as she pulled away all too soon. "I'll pleasure my prey on occasion, but you- you are something special my dear. Something deserving of my embrace I think, even if you had little chance, you thought quickly." Her voice was oddly soft and not as raspy anymore.
Twilight sighed, still extremely confused as she looked up at her tormentor. "Thanks?" Twilight whispered, unsure if she should speak.
"Oh you're quite welcome, you made a nice hunt. I think I'll keep you around even. Now hold still, I meant it very well that you could die painfully." The mare's word burned into Twilight's mind and made her whimper. She wasn't a mare for pain, she was a mare for nuzzling perhaps. Silently she hoped the monstrous mare would change her mind and let her go. But she knew far better than to hope for something so foolish and her hopes were entirely crushed as she lost her focus. It was a sharp pain as the mare sank her retched fangs into Twilight's soft flesh. It racked throughout her body as she felt herself entirely still. Even her heart slowed down for a moment from its race.
Twilight let out a quiet whimper and flinched as she felt the mare lap at the wound she had created. It was an odd feeling to say the least. Not exactly painful and on a note, sort of pleasurable. At a moment, her mind went blank as she could only focus on the moon above her. This was it, she was sure this is where she would die. Alone and away from her friends. Afraid and cold, not to mention at the hooves of a mare who was far stronger than her in strength. Maybe if Twilight hadn't been so tired from getting things ready early, she could've handled the mare in a duel. But it was too late for that now as the mare continued to lap and suck at the bite. Moaning every so often as Twilight's blood filled her mouth and eventually was swallowed. Twilight was downright freezing as the mare swallowed her blood-something she really needed to live. Her body was becoming colder and occasionally, she would barely be able to keep her eyes open. "P-please..." Twilight tried to whisper, but nothing but out but a whimper from it.
She was getting weaker by the second and for the moment, she was just glad it wasn't painful. Or nearly as bad as it could have been. In her mind she also drew the idea she may have saved some lives by teleporting to the forest. This monster would likely kill her and be satisfied for now at least. And with that in her mind, Twilight felt her last grip on life slip away as her she took her final breath. All over Equestria, a coldness could be felt by everypony. Something was terribly wrong, an element was dead. The most vital part, the magic that bound the elements of harmony. And not one mare or stallion knew what had happened out there in the dark, cold and feared forest. A new era had just began for their perfect world and a new evil was coming, except it was accompanied by their greatest ally and for many, friend. But no more. And it all starts with the Princess of Friendship.
