It was a cool night and spring was coming fast, a young filly sat on a hill just outside of ponyville, there was silence and an undisturbed lack of motion, the small grey Pegasus was motionless, her eyes shut and her ears cocked slightly backward, not a sound was heard, not a animal stirred, she opened her eyes and looked forward with disappointment then looked down in front of her, there was a small pocket book, inside there where many songs, only one she sang. The filly looked up at the wonders of the night and began singing in an ancient tongue that very few have even heard of. Her voice was sweet and slightly raspy, and her eyes where a light turquoise, her wings where bandaged and her feathers gently rounded to a dagger consistency. Her mane was black with splashes of a creamy blue, her ears where cut. And her coat was dusty. All around her the mushrooms lit up and the mist began to clear. The sun began to rise sleepily over the horizon. The young filly stopped and slammed the book shut in a panic then putting it in her mouth she began galloping home, houses began to fill with noise and ponies began to open doors and sleepily look around, the filly ran faster trying to get ahead of the time, grunting with the effort to get home before the orphanage master woke up, she was a horrible mare with the shortest of tempers and the worst of punishments. That’s why your wings are bandaged, NIGHTINGALE ROSANE SHADE!! The shout filled the air and the filly slowed and slumped down and sighed, she got found out.
A few years later.
“You can’t be serious” said the weather pony “you honestly believe in that stupid old ponies tale” she continued. “Yes and it’s not a ponies tale, its real” you answer gruffly “one day I will prove to you that they exist” sure and when you do ill change my name to john”. You sigh and return to your small cubical , the space was small but easy to move in , on your wall are pictures of the stars and the moon, you keep them as if they meant something , “nightshade get back to work”, a paper ball hits you in the ear, reluctantly you spin around to the weather chart and begin scheduling an area close to the sweet apple acres area, the apple family have requested a slight storm on one of the fields, it was an odd request but they payed a generous amount of bits and said something about a zap apple. Sighing you look in one of your drawers for a quill, scrounging around in the messy compartment for anything useable, “purple glasses, sketch book. Muffin bag, book of star-songs....” you voice trailing off as you blow the dust off the cover, a slight memory breaks your mental silence and you toss the book into your saddle bag. Picking up a pencil instead you begin plotting cloud settings and water pickup locations. Oh the days as a weather pony the wind in your mane and the freedom of the air. And if it were not for that storm you would have been able to fly. Now you just sit at a desk and coordinate the weather ponies, you would do anything to be able to fly again and to be able to feel the freedom of the open air and to feel the soft clouds against your hooves, and to see your friends up in Cloudsdale. but those days are never to come again as your wings are damaged with a third degree bur n from a lightning strike to the centre of your back. RING RING! A bell sounded signalling the changing of shifts pegasi fluttered in and others walked out. You pick up your bag and walk out the door the sun hurting your eyes after spending the day indoors you slowly walk towards your house across the street, humming an old song to yourself.

WHERE IN THE NAME OF LUNA AM I?!?
You woke up feeling light headed and slightly hung-over , around you there where stars moving about and you are sitting on a large glowing marble structure, "that’s ok I must be dreaming" you mumble to yourself " ... wait if this is a dream then why do I feel this headache and I’m sitting ...up," realisation finally hits you in the face, panic sets in quick, there where stars moving about and your sitting on a large glowing marble structure that’s ok I must be dreaming ... wait if this is a dream then why do I feel this headache and I’m sitting ...up, realization finally hits you in the face, panic sets in quickly and your pupils shrink in fear, gleaming white alicorns are everywhere and the ground is warm and the sky is different oh dear ooohh dear, you look over your seat and see canterlot below and pegasi gathering and moving clouds, then you realise where you really are. You’re on a star.
“Hello miss are you okay?” a muffled voice lingers in the air around you. You roll your head and stir in your half consciousness. When a strong ethanol smell hits your nose you jolt back to full movement and begin panicking once more, an alicorn tackles you and says in a voice quieter than flutter shy “hush you’re going to be okay” you immediately shut up and listen. After a long explanation. You feel calmer and more aware; they seem to like calling you “calm one”. In the distance you see a midnight blue alicorn speaking to a group of white alicorns, you begin to wonder if the stars are actually listening or if this is a prank done by the weather teams, the blue alicorn turns her gaze to you and give a sharp soul penetrating look, gingerly waving back you feel slightly more nervous . She begins approaching you, the white alicorns begin to clear away. It is revealed to you that this figure is in fact, princess Luna and these people are the star casters, a secret organisation that controls the astronomical patterns that create the beautiful display and! only Luna can lead the teams that move the stars with a pinpoint accuracy and a strict code of design so that no-one not even Celestia will notice. Once again your train of thought gets derailed andLuna now stands over you , as she manifests a scroll that seems to flow with arcane energy, you begin to feel drowsy and people catch your head quickly and you pass out.
The next morning
You get up out of the bed feeling even more so hung-over and blurry visioned next to your bed is two painkillers and a cup of water , a notice is stuck on your fishbowl , your mysterious blue ghost knife stirring about nervously and you drop a worm into its bowl then read the note : “return cloud study book to library”. You face-hoof and pick up your beret and glasses and stroll out the door slowly headed for the tree that serves as the home of twilight sparkle.

The door swung open and creaked to a stop, spike as usual would be expecting rarity to calmly pace through the door, this however was not the case, the socially awkward grey Pegasus walked shyly through the oak finish doorway, and spike sighed and continued to sweep the hard wooden floor. Twilight yelled from the second floor to say she’ll be down in a minute, the gray mare began looking around the library and inspecting a wooden statuette of an alicorn, spike sneezed and sent fire over to the Pegasus causing her to knock over the statue, and she proceeded to sweep up the rubble.
“Oh hey nightshade!” the gray Pegasus jumped in fear, nearly knocking off a nearby vase, only quickly responding this time catching the vase in her tale, twighlight sighed at the destroyed statue the , slightly clumsy mare offered a new statue , twighlight simply nodded and the two different ponies both loved books and one had never really experienced the magic of friendship , and twighlight was no help , nightshade never really liked overly extensive and long winded conversations as she , even though older than twighlight, never really liked social interaction it tended to get to her and people often teased her about not being able to fly. Spike sat in the corner dreaming about rarity, the two ponies got into a short conversation about dream meanings and the possibility of hundreds of alicorns twighlight knew about alicornic population possibility but she unlike nightshade, never really believed in anything unless it had a scientific explanation behind it, the only exception being the inexplicable twitches that seemed to predict the future, that belong only to pinkie pie. After a few minutes nightshade removed the book from her saddle bag and began to walk out the door , only for twighlight to stop her in mid pace , “oh one more thing!” twighlight exclaimed “this came in for you”. Twighlight pulled a scroll from upstairs and passed it over to you. It was not the usual royal scroll it was on deep shimmering blue paper and was sealed with a moon and a purple ribbon. Passing it off as another retired weather pony function invitation she calmly put it away and continue to walk out the door.
