Night time drew its colors as the sky turned dark. The clouds moved out of the way to let the big bright moon show itself as it took place in the night sky. The cool night breeze blew in Ponyville as if whispering to the trees to dance for the night. Ponies started to go into their houses for shelter. Some had their fireplace burning with warm fire to keep them warm. Some were spending the night with their family. Some snuggled under the wings of their special someponies. It was a perfect night to spend some quality time with their loved ones.

Woody Hooves, a brown pegasus colt, was putting his telescope in his saddlebag. It was a little big for himself to carry alone, but he wanted to bring it so he and his little sister Winter Star, a little filly with white coat and cyan colored mane, could see the stars more closely tonight. The two were very close to each other since they were siblings. They spent lots of time together with their parents and took care for each other when they weren't around.

"All packed up?" Woody's father asked the little colt as he came into his room. "Almost dad." Woody said. He checked in the bag to make sure he had everything he needed to go outside and look at the stars with his sister. He had a blanket to keep themselves warm, a flashlight and a lamp just in case they might need it, a container with some sandwiches their mother made for them, and most importantly a telescope stuffed on the bottom of the bag. "All set!" He said with a grunt as he tried to put the heavy saddlebag onto him. His father chuckled and helped him. "Just be sure to keep your little sister safe, alright buddy?" He said as they both went downstairs. "I will."

Winter Star was already at the door waiting for her bit brother. She didn't really like waiting when she was excited. She always wanted to look at the stars more closely and try to touch them. Her mother always said "Maybe there's a star with your name on it, just for you." It always made her dreams fill with hope that one day when she grows up she'd get to catch one and bring it home to show her family. "Here's a blanket to keep you warm, sweetie." Her mother said as she gave her a small dark blue colored blanket that had little white snowflakes on it. It was Winter's favorite blanket she liked to snuggle into when she sleeps. "Don't lose it and keep yourself warm all the time, ok? And stay close to your brother." She heard her mother say in worry. "Down't worry mowmmy! Big bwo is gownna keep me safe!" The little white filly giggled at her mother as she jumped up and down. She then saw Woody coming down the stairs with their father beside him. "Yay!! Can we go now, bwo??" Winter asked with happiness in her voice. "Yeah we can, little sis." Woody said with a smile.

They gave their parents a tight hug and went outside to go to the hill they always went to. It wasn't very far away from home. Woody and Winter played together there whenever they went to go outside. The hill had a large green grass field for them to play on. There were some trees planted around there, with colorful flowers blooming everywhere on the field. It was a perfect place to have some peace away from the city. There were other ponies who came to the hill for a picnic sometimes, and Woody always said hi to them whenever he met anypony there.

"Bwo? Why aw staws so shiny?" Winter asked with curiosity in her eyes. She was a bit young to fully understand hard words and sometimes asked random questions. So Woody always tried to use simple words for his sister to understand easily. He looked down at her and smiled. "Well, that's because they want to give hope to the ponies below. And to keep you safe at night." "Do dey keep me safe fwom the mownsters under my bed..?" Woody chuckled softly and pat her head gently. "Of course they do. And you have me to keep you safe too!" Winter giggled and gave him a tight hug with her little hooves, being little, on his leg. Woody hugged back tightly with his wing. "I'll always keep you safe, little sis."

They reached to the top of the hill. There weren't anypony around because it was too dark to be outside. They sat down under a tree they specifically liked as Woody took the telescope out from his saddlebag. While he was setting it up, Winter held her head up to the sky with big wide eyes. There weren't any clouds tonight so the sky was clear to see. The sky was filled with little shining stars, showing a glimpse of the galaxy they were in. "Whoooaa!" She said in wonder as the little filly was amazed of the sight she was seeing with her sparkling little eyes. Woody turned his head around to see her after finishing setting the telescope up. "It's amazing, isn't it?" Woody looked up and saw what she was looking. Stars were shining so brightly, they wouldn't even need a lamp. "Uh huh! Dey aw so bwight!" Winter giggled.

"Come here, sis." Woody said as he lifted his right wing up. Winter got up and ran to him, snuggling under his wing. She giggled as Woody hugged her with his wing. "Wanna see through the telescope? I'll hold you up." Woody gestured to the scope and asked if she would want to look through it. Winter gave a cute nod. She wanted to look through the telescope and see the stars more closely, but since she was little she couldn't reach it. Woody crouched down and let Winter get on his back so she could reach the scope to put her eye on it. The telescope gave her a more better view of the stars. She saw a few dots sparkling brightly in the dark void of blackness. They greeted Winter as they sparkled at her with glee. "Dere's so many staws!" She giggled loudly as she was amazed at the beauty of them. Woody chuckled and gave her hug, which made her giggle softly as she hugged back.

"Bwo!" Winter yelled. She was covered in her blanket as the two little ponies were eating sandwiches their mother made for them. "Hmm?" Woody responded with a grin as he looked at his sister point up to the sky. "Look!" Winter was pointing towards the sky as she gasped. Woody's eyes went wide when he held his head up high. One certain star was falling, creating a stream of white line behind it. "It's a shooting star!" Woody said as he smiled, amazed at the sight. It was rare to see shooting stars these days so every time Woody saw one, he made a wish on it. "Make a wish, sis! It'll come true if you wish on it!" Winter then closed her eyes tightly and wished on the falling star. She wished on it hard and really wished it would come true one day. When she opened her eyes, she couldn't believe what her eyes was seeing. Woody saw her eyes go wide and started to worry. "What is it?" He looked up and his eyes followed Winter's.

As the star they wished on started to fade away, another star fell with a trail of white line. Then another, and another. Soon, A whole group of stars made tails of light, decorating the night sky with white lines. The sky looked like it was raining stars. "Bwo! Is it waining?" Winter asked her brother. Woody just chuckled and gave a gentle pat on her head. "I think it's raining stars." Woody never had seen this happen before, and nor did Winter. But it was a beautiful sight that couldn't be explained by words. Winter was amazed at what the stars were showing her. Woody hugged her with his wing and whispered. "I love you, little sis." Winter snuggled under his wing with a giggle. "I wuv chu too, big bwo!" They stared in wonder at what the night had to offer them. Countless stars poured down towards them, brightening the darkness of the night even more. Ponies all around saw the shooting stars and made a wish on them. Some wished for money. Some wished for happiness. Some even wished for a marefriend. To them it was just wishing their wishes on a star. But to Woody and Winter it was a moment they'll never forget. A time to remember that they are just like the stars in the sky, shining brightly and making somepony happy like their family and friends. They stared up at the sky until they both fell asleep on top of the hill as the stars kept raining upon them, keeping the night bright as they watched over them.

Authors note: Ok I'll be honest. This was haaaard! I didn't know it would be hard to make expressions and write about stars. Welp! I did my best so meh >u< Anyway, I hope y'all liked it!
