//-------------------------------------------------------// Celestia's harem -by Raised_on_Shoegaze- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Make a choice //-------------------------------------------------------// Make a choice When Celestia’s father passed away and gave his crown to Celestia, he told her that her main duty was to make sure that the ponies living in Equestria lived happy and stress-free lives. Nearly three thousand years later Celestia still took her father’s words to heart and continually attempted to keep the citizens under her rule happy and stress free. Yet, as she lay on her bed, holding her head in her hooves and allowing tears to fall on her royal uniform. She couldn’t help but feel a little bit angry at how the citizens she devoted countless hours towards caring for were currently treating her. She turned to her side to cast a glare at the large brown bag beside her bed given to her just a couple hours before by one of her guards. Celestia had opened up the bag and was unsurprised to find it filled with letters and newspaper clippings. It was not unusual for her to receive large quantities of mail, and she often looked forward to reading about what her beloved ponies thought of her. Her enthusiasm quickly faded as she started reading the letters her citizens had written to her. As one of the two princesses of Equestria and the goddess of the sun, Celestia was highly sought after by mares and stallions seeking a mate. The problem was that since she was given her choice of so many ponies she had found it difficult to settle for just one. So she started forming romantic relationships with many different ponies, and for close to twelve years she kept her relationships a secret from the media and her many suitors. Despite pressure from her suitors she had never engaged in any public displays of affection, had never formally acknowledged any of her relationships to her subjects, and had refrained from both sexual intercourse and marriage. To be fair, she did have a reason to refrain from settling down with a single pony. For you see, the reason there are so few Alicorns in the land of Equestria is because once their offspring reaches the age of adulthood, the Alicorns who produced them start to age as if they were normal Earth ponies. Which essentially meant that if Celestia were to give birth to a son or a daughter, she would die approximately 70 years later. Celestia was fine with the promise of an eventual death, she had lived long enough and believed it was time for her to pass on. With Luna back on her half of the throne she didn’t have to worry about her beloved ponies falling into disorder after her passing. Celestia wanted to produce an heir, and she wanted to die. That was why she had started dating for the first time in her life twelve years earlier. She had never wanted to hurt any pony in her kingdom, she just wanted a suitable suitor to help her bring new life into the world. She wasn’t quite sure how her simple desire transformed into what it was now. “Why did they have to find out.” Celestia said with a whimper as she stared at the magazine clippings and newspaper articles inside the brown bag beside her bed. She silently cursed herself for her misfortune before letting loose a sigh. “Maybe this is a good thing.” Celestia said to herself as she raised of her forelegs to her face and started to wipe her tears away. “Maybe this is fate’s way of telling me that the time has come for me to choose which of my suitors has earned my hoof in marriage.” Celestia said to herself with a diminished smile upon her face as her horn lit up and a quill started to levitate towards her desk where a piece of paper, which she had intended to use to write a letter to her continually faithful student, was laid out flat. The quill then proceeded to write down a list of name which seemed to fill the entire page. After a few minutes of scribbling the quill fell lifelessly on the desk. The paper then started levitating towards the princess, stopping a few inches away from her face. Celestia read the names on the piece of paper and sighed. “How am I ever going to choose.” “The chicken and the rooster are natural mates right?” Scootaloo asked Sweetie Belle, who sat beside her in history class where her teacher was presently sitting at his desk watching his students conversing while they were supposed to be working on the worksheets he had just assigned, whilst mentally making a note that handing out a worksheet less than two minutes before the end of the school day was probably not his best idea. “Of course, a rooster is just a male chicken after all.” Sweetie Belle said with a smile on her face at the mention of the word rooster, as it made her think of the plans she had made for later that night with her secret marefriend. “Why do you ask?” “Well, I’m just asking because everybody calls me Scootaloo the chicken.” The orange filly said with a smile. “And Celestia is kind of like a rooster right?” Scootaloo said with a forming upon her face. Sweetie stared at her friend for a few seconds, obviously confused as to what her friend was saying to her.” “What do you mean?” Sweetie Belle asked, earning a blush from her friend who turned her head in a futile effort to hide her blush from her friend. “Sweetie Belle’s nice, but sometimes I think she just likes me because of my wealth.” Celesti said with a sigh. “And if I choose her as my mate, then I’d likely stir up some trouble with her sister.” Celestia said with a sigh as she crossed off Sweetie Belle and Rarity Belle off of her list. “It’s a shame.” Celestia said as a blush formed on her face. “I always did enjoy the way my hooves tickled when she kissed them. “That’s why she always turned me down!” Spike yelled as he stared at a photograph on the cover of the Canterlot newspaper, which featured Rarity enthusiastically licking Celestia’s hooves while the princess appeared to be stroking her mane and urging her to continue. “It wasn’t because she didn’t like me, it was because she was busy sucking on Celestia’s imaginary toes.” Spike said out loud before lifting his head. “But now that she knows Celestia was cheating on her, maybe I can finally have a chance with her.” Spike said to himself as a smile started to form on his face. “What do you think Twi? Is it worth a shot?” Spike asked his friend, who was currently sitting in front of him with a look of shock upon her face as her eyes remained fixated on the newspaper in front of her. “I can’t choose Twilight.” Celestia said to herself as a tear started to form in her recently dried eye. “She’s like the daughter I’ve always wanted to have, and I’m proud of everything she’s accomplished.” Celestia said to herself as she thought of her student, who had come to her castle twelve years earlier and confessed her feelings towards her and convinced Celestia to go on the first date she’d ever had in her long life. “But she’s a magician.” Celestia rationalized. “And she’ll live for 120 years after I die.” Celestia said to herself as she imagined the look of pain that would stain her students face as she watched her wither away in front of her eyes knowing that she would be powerless to stop her eventual passing. Deciding that she would not be able to put her faithful students through such a traumatic experience, she regretfully crossed her name off of the list. “What’s wrong with me?” Fluttershy asked herself as she stared into a piece of broken glass lying in front of the mirror she had smashed in a rare display of rage after having found out that her beloved Celestia had been dating another pony. “What does Rainbow Dash have that I don’t?” Fluttershy asked herself a second time as she continued to stare at her reflection in the broken glass, as if hoping that if she stared at it long enough she would eventually receive an answer. “I did everything for her.” Fluttershy said with a slight growl. “I kissed her whenever I could, I took care of her whenever she felt sick, I even spent an entire week making a wedding ring so I could propose to her!” Fluttershy shouted as her attention turned towards the beautiful diamond ring, just big enough to find on her beloved’s foreleg, lay on her kitchen counter. “And then Rainbow Dash came and confused her.” Fluttershy said as a look of realization overtook her facial features and a smile formed on her lips. “It’s all Rainbow Dash’s fault.” Fluttershy said with a smile as trotted towards her kitchen and picked up the wedding ring which would soon be resting on Celestia’s foreleg. “Celestia doesn’t really love Rainbow Dash, she’s just confused.” Fluttershy rationalized as she made her way towards her cutlery drawer. “She doesn’t really know what she wants, so she became confused.” Fluttershy said with a slightly crazed smile upon her face as she opened her cutlery drawer and pulled out the largest knife in her drawer. “And if there’s nothing around to make her confused.” Fluttershy said with a smile as she held the knife in her hooves and admired her reflection in the shiny metal. “Then she’ll realize that what she truly wants is me.” After crossing nearly three quarters of the names off of her list Celestia sighed and read the remaining names, hoping to find a reason to cross any more names off the list. After finding virtually no reason to cross off her remaining five potential suitors she let loose the biggest sigh she had ever made in her life and collapsed on her bed. “Why did I have to make this so hard?” Celestia asked herself as she thought about each of the names left uncrossed on her list. “I love them all.” Celestia said to herself. “But I can only choose one.” Celestia said once again as her horn started to light up and the list started levitating towards her, Celestia stared at the five names remaining on the list, and was mildly disappointed to find that all five names remained uncrossed. “Zecora and Pinkie wouldn’t mind sharing me.” Celestia said. “But only one of them can have my child.” Celestia said to herself before crossing both names off the list and taking a glance at the remaining three names. After staring at the list for approximately five more minutes she threw it against the wall of her bedroom in frustration. “This isn’t going to work.” Celestia said to herself before letting loose a sigh and sitting up in her bed. “I can rationalize all I want, but in the end...” Celestia paused and let loose a sigh. “There’s only one special mare on that list who I truly want to spend the rest of my life with.” Celestia said to herself with a smile as she contemplated who was truly worthy of her love. After less than a minute of thought the princess moved towards the balcony outside of her bedroom and prepared to take flight. To be concluded I guarantee you that no one will be able to guess who Celestia chooses.
