Fullmoon's Story
Prologue
Load Full Story3:45 PM
“Fullmoon! Get down here and clean up this mess you made!” A manly voice shouted from downstairs.
“I don’t want to! I’m gonna stay up here, and there is no way you will get me down there Father!” A colt shouted back. His father grunted, trotting upstairs and knocking violently at his door.
“Fullmoon this is your last warning! GET DOWN HERE AND CLEAN UP THIS MESS!” His father shouted once more. Eventually a mare walked out of a door across the hall.
“Honey, what’s going on? You’ve been shouting for the past five minutes.” She asked, worried for the safety of her son and husband. A small filly emerged from behind her back leg.
“Mama, what’s going on with Fullmoon? Is he gonna be okay?” She tugged on the plaid dress the worried mother was wearing.
“Fullmoon will be fine, he’s just having one of those dang temper tantrums again. COME OUT HERE RIGHT NOW YOUNG MAN!” His father shouted even louder, getting to the point where his anger was getting the better of him.
“Honey calm down, maybe Moonlight can bring him out? She’s done it before, maybe she can do it again.” The mother looked at her daughter Moonlight, slightly edging her to Fullmoon's door.
“Me?! Why me!?” Moonlight screamed, “I’m just a little filly, how do you expect me to calm him down?”
“We’ve seen you do it before Moonlight, and you can do it again. We believe in you.” Her Mother and Father gave Moonlight a big hug, and slightly pushed her to the door. Moonlight gave a slight knock, only to get a huge scream.
“Leave me alone Dad! I’m not coming out.”
“Fullmoon it’s me, Moonlight! Please come out and clean up your mess, it’ll be over a lot quicker if you clean up everything right now than later.”
“I don’t want to clean Moonlight, it’s too boring.” Fullmoon groaned, leaning on his door.
“Then make it fun, make a game out of it or something. I can help you clean if you want me to.” She sighed, “Please come out.” Eventually Fullmoon caved in, and unlocked his door. Fullmoon was a nine year old pegasus with a dark red and bright red mane and tail, bright gray fur, and purple eyes. His sister on the other hand was ten years old with a completely purple mane and tail, red eyes, and gray fur.
“Come on, let’s clean that mess.” Moonlight embraced him in a hug and trotted downstairs with him. Their Mother spotted that her husband Dusk was about to yell at him again, but she stopped him just before he did.
“Let them go, he’s nine years old now Dusk. Fullmoon is gonna start with this stuff and is gonna stick with it for a while. We might aswell get used to it while we can.”
“I know Dawn, but I just can’t help it. I can’t exactly control my anger you know.”
“Ya know, it’s funny,” Dawn chuckled, “I bet Fullmoon got his anger from you.” She laughed, and Dusk laughed right along with her.
“Yeah I guess you’re right, they don’t stay young forever. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts.”
“Come on, let’s help Fullmoon clean up that mess shall we?” Dawn asked. Dusk nodded, and walked downstairs with his wife Dawn, with an arm around her the whole way.
4:15 PM
“I think that’s the last of it.” Fullmoon stated, staring at the clean room in front of him. “Thanks for helping, sorry I was like that earlier.” He apologized.
Dawn patted him on the back, “It’s alright Fullmoon, you don’t have to apologize for anything. You’re just growing up, and we understand that you’ll have these mood swings from time to time.”
“Thanks Mom. Is it alright if I head out and walk around the woods for a bit, calm myself down a bit more?” Fullmoon asked, staring at his mother.
“That’s alright dear, just be home before dark, you know how bad things get out in that forest at night.” Dawn kissed him on the cheek, and Fullmoon trotted out the door.
“I’ll be home before dark, you can trust me to keep that promise.” He said as he trotted off the porch and into the Everfree Forest.
6:50 PM
Fullmoon laid on a branch of a tree, staring at the sky as the sun started to set. “The sky always looks so beautiful when the sun sets.” He took a deep breath, and hopped down from the branch, “However I should be getting home right now, they’re gonna worry about me if I don’t get home in time.” He trotted through the dark green bushes and fallen leaves as the wind blew through the gaps of the leaves attached to the trees.
“PSST! Over here!” A voice whispered.
“W-What? W-Who’s there?” Fullmoon slowly looked behind him to see a small filly in the bushes watching him. “W-Who are you?!” He jumped, falling on his back.
“O-Oh… I-I’m so sorry sir, I just don’t usually see anypony around here often. My name is Azure Shadow, what’s yours?” She adjusted the brown hood she had on.
“Um.. I-I’m Fullmoon. You seem shorter than most ponies I see, is there something up with that?” Fullmoon tilted his head sideways.
“I was born this way, always smaller than everypony else. I never really made friends due to my height and the bandages wrapped around me, they make fun of me because I look like a mummy.” She blushed lightly.
“What’s under those bandages anyway?” He poked her torso, making her yelp loudly. “S-Sorry! I-I didn’t mean to…”
She sighed, “It’s fine, you couldn’t have known. Anyway, I don’t exactly want to tell you right now, especially since I literally just met you. I’m afraid you’ll make fun of me.”
“That’s fine, I can understand why you can’t trust me.”
“Uhh…” Azure stared at the bush,
“Are you okay Azure?” Fullmoon tilted his head once more. A dark figure lunged out of the bush and rushed at Fullmoon, it’s red eyes thirsting for blood.
“Look out!” Azure tackled him to the ground, biting his wing in the process. The dark figure missed, and ran off into the thick trees. “S-Sorry! I-I saw something in the bushes a-and I got nervous…” She stood up and helped Fullmoon.
‘“It’s okay, you were just trying to protect me, that’s all.” He stabilized himself, “Well, I gotta get home, it’s getting late and my parents are gonna be very mad at me if I don’t get home.” He flew up, only to fall onto the ground from a sting pulsing through his wing. “GAH!” He hit the ground with a loud thump.
“FULLMOON!” Azure rushed to him, beats of sweat running down her face as she saw a bite on his wing. “O-Oh no…” Azure helped him up once again, “F-Fullmoon… I-I am so sorry…” Azure backed away a little.
“Azure, you don’t have to be-.” Fullmoon was cut off by a howling in the distance. In the time that he was distracted, Azure Shadow disappeared from sight. “A-Azure? W-Where did you go?” He swiveled around the grassy area, looking for her. “N-No time, I gotta get home before it gets too late.” He tried to fly once more, but like last time, the bite on his wing sent a pulsing shock through him. Only, it felt worse than it did before. “Forgot, I guess I have to walk my way back. I hope I can see her again…” He began to trot back to his home, unknowing of what is to come.
9:25 PM
“I’m home everyone!” He shouted as he arrived in front of his house. He looked at the sky, “And just in the nick of time too.” He smiled, stepping onto his front porch.
“Hiya Fullmoon,” Moonlight trotted out of the front door and hugged him, “How was the-” She noticed the bite on his wing, “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?” She shrieked, alerting her parents as well.
“Moonlight what’s going on out here? You’re causing a racket.” Dusk complained, walking out of the front door with his wife Dawn. He noticed the bite on his wing.
“Oh Fullmoon, what happened?” Dawn asked, worried for her son. She trotted over to him, examining the wing.
“Mom it was an accident. I met a new friend today, and she bit me on accident after trying to protect me…” Many things flooded through his mind, but one thing always surfaced in the end. Am I truly gonna be alright?
“Well… If it was an accident, I won’t get mad at you for it. I recommend that we get that patched up before it gets infected, then we’ll get you ready for bed.” Dusk advised, walking back into the house. Fullmoon agreed, and followed him in. “Let me ask you a question son, what was she protecting you from?” He questioned him, doubting his story.
“S-She was protecting me from a wolf that was sneaking up behind me…” He was nervous, not knowing whether he’d believe the tale or not.
“Well okay, if you say so Fullmoon. I’ll believe you.” He stated, rubbing an alcohol soaked rag onto his bite, making him yelp. “Hold still now, you’ll just make it worse.” He took off the rag and wrapped it in a bandage, already soaked with dark red blood. “That should hold up temporarily, until we find something more permanent. Go on to bed now Fullmoon.” Dusk hugged his son before Fullmoon went up the stairs and into his room.
“Has my room always been a mess like this?” He asked himself, stumbling over toys and books. All of a sudden he started to feel weak, “U-Urgh… W-Why do I feel so tired all of a sudden…” He wobbled to his bed, laying down sloppily. “M-Maybe I just need some rest, that’s all…” He fell asleep rather quickly, now starting to run a fever.
“Are you sure Fullmoon will be alright Dusk? He hasn’t been bit much, and getting bitten by a pony is not common.” Dawn asked, worried for her son.
“He’ll be fine Honey, he just needs a bit of rest to take the pain away. Let’s just get to sleep.” Dusk kissed her on the cheek, and shut his eyes. Dawn followed suit, and before they knew it they were asleep.
11:55 PM
Fullmoon woke up in a dark, quiet, and gloomy field, without anypony around him. He stood up, and glanced around the area he was in, “W-Where am I? Mom? Dad? Where are you?” He felt fear slowly build up in him as he started to hear growls all around him, getting louder by the second. He tried desperately to gallop away from the still increasing growls, but with no progress. Eventually, eight wolves rushed out of the darkness and charged at Fullmoon. They pounced, and as he screamed, he woke up from his fear induced dream. “W-Wait… T-That was a dream?” He looked around his room, just noticing that he woke up on the floor and his room was a wreck. “W-What did I do?”
Not even a second later, the grandfather clock in the hallway rung as the hour hand struck twelve, sending a pulsing pain throughout Fullmoon’s entire body. He yelped as he fell to the floor, clutching his head. “W-What’s h-happening…!?” He managed to whisper. Fullmoon stumbled around his room, falling onto the ground once he tripped over. He eventually started to grow and sprout dark grey fur, along with his bones making a blood curdling cracking sound. His hooves morphed into paws and his teeth became fangs, as well as his mane and tail becoming more scruffy. After a painful transformation, his eyes shot wide open, now a sharp yellow color.
He howled loudly, waking up both his parents and his sister from their slumber.
“W-What was that sound?!” Moonlight shouted, on the verge of tears. She rushed to her mother and hugged her leg tightly.
“It’s gonna be okay Moonlight, let me and your father check. You can stay right behind us if you want to.” Dawn reassured her. Moonlight clenched her mother’s leg tightly, as Dawn and Dusk trotted up to Fullmoon’s Room.
“Son are you okay? We’re very worried about you Fullmoon.” His father asked, before putting an ear to the door. All he could hear was the growls and breathing of the monster that was on the other side of that door. “Something or Somepony is in there. Moonlight, stay here, me and your mother will check.” Moonlight nodded, and let go of Dawn’s leg.
“Just be careful please.” Moonlight pleaded before they walked in the room. It was dark, very dark. Slash marks lined the walls and the carpet, and a dark figure stood in the middle of the room. Dusk grabbed a flashlight off the shelf and shined it on the dark figure, revealing the wolf that stood before him. The wolf only retaliated with a quick swipe from its paw, knocking the flashlight out of his hooves. “Moonlight, run to your room… right… now!” Dusk demandingly shouted.
“B-But why?!” She replied, still worried.
“Moonlight do what your father says, and go!” Dawn shouted back. Moonlight eventually budged, and galloped into her room, locking the door from the inside.
“W-What’s going on!? W-Why did I have to hide here!? W-Where’s Fullmoon!?” She repeated to herself so she wouldn’t burst in tears. A loud roar startled Moonlight, making her rush to her bed and cover herself with the many blankets on her bed. She could hear breathing on the other side of her door, “M-Mom? D-Dad…? I-Is that you…?” She asked, but to no response. The breathing eventually faded away, and Moonlight removed the blankets. “I-Is it safe to go out…?” She asked herself with a startled voice, slowly trotting to her door.
A sudden howl could be heard in the distance as Moonlight cracked the door open, looking from side to side. She walked out of the door, her heart beating very quickly, “M-Mom…? D-Dad…? F-Fullmoon…?” She spotted a blood trail leading downstairs to the living room, “O-Oh no… T-That doesn’t mean what I think it means…” She rushed to the living room, only to see two corpses that once resembled her mother and father. They have been mutilated and bitten into, organs trailed everywhere she looked, and blood lined the walls as she swiveled around the room. “N-No… T-This can’t be real…” Moonlight shook the body of her father, only to get no response. She did the same to the body of her mother, but with the same result.
Moonlight screamed and cried loudly, making an echo throughout the huge house. “T-That wolf,” She stared at the scratch marks on the walls, feeling her anger overtake her. “Has a storm coming its way…” She screamed out to the sky in anger. Moonlight grabbed a gun and a gun strap, putting it on her back, along with a hunting knife. After gearing up, she headed off into the Everfree Forest, feeling ready for whatever comes at her next. “You better say your prayers wolf, because I’m coming for you!”
Meanwhile, Azure Shadow hid in the shadows, until a distant howl made her jump onto her hooves. She then realized what has just happened, “O-Oh no… What have I done…” All she could do right now was hide in the shadows until daylight, for a specific reason unknown.
Author's Note
Alright, prologue is done. Note that these won't be in a schedule. I will upload them when I have the time and when they are done. I am prone to having Writer's Block a lot so it might take a while though. Couple of things too.
1. I have been working on a prototype version of the story you are reading, if you want to see that, just say it in the comments and I will post the prototype as well.
2. There is absolutely NO set schedule for when these come out, I post them when they are ready and I know that I won't change any of it.
3. Another thing about the schedule, I've been going through rough times for a bit now and that hinders my ability to write, so if one chapter doesn't release for like a couple of months you'll know why.
And that's about it, thanks for listening to what I have to say, and I hope you have a great day/night/whatever time it is where you are.
Edit: Chapter 1 is almost ready to be posted, prepare yourselves :)
