Sunset parked her car on the edge of the road, turning the key and pulling it out. She sat back in her seat and looked towards the house to the right of her. Sunset gave a sigh as she opened her car door and climbed out, pushing it back shut once she was fully outside. As she walked around her car and towards the house, she thought about why she was even there.
Over the past couple weeks, Sunset and the rest of her friends had made peace with the Dazzlings, setting aside any grudges or revenge schemes. Since then, Sunset decided to get to know them better, and what better way then to spend time with them individually. The first one on her list was Adagio, since getting the leader done first seemed like a logical solution. At first she wasn't the greatest company, but it didn't take long for the two of them to become good friends. Sunset even got to introduce Adagio to the Shadowbolts on one of their outings, which turned out a lot better than what Sunset had expected. Next was Sonata, and she wasn't difficult at all. Their usual outings were either going to get tacos or ice cream, with a occasional trip to somewhere else in the process. With both of them done, Sunset gets to move on to the last siren, the one she wasn't exactly looking forward to, Aria Blaze. Ever since the friendship between the two groups started, Sunset was never able to read Aria. Sunset knew that Adagio liked to go shopping, and Sonata liked food, but she could never figure out what made Aria happy. The only time she ever saw the purple siren smile or laugh was back when they were still evil, or if someone got hurt or just embarrassed themselves. Sunset asked the other two what Aria liked to do, but they themselves were still kinda skeptical. So with no knowledge of what she likes and no real plan of attack, Sunset was nervous about taking her anywhere.
Sunset approached the door to the house, and after about a minute or two of preparing herself, she knocked. A warm smile appeared on her face when Sonata answered the door, just as happy to see Sunset as she was to see her.
"Hi Sunset!" the blue girl said as she waved happily.
"Hey Sonata, how have you been?" Sunset replied, walking into the house as Sonata let her in.
"Oh I've been doing great," she responded, closing the door behind her. "I take it your here to get Ari?"
"Yeah," Sunset answered her, uncertainty in her voice. "Sonata, are you sure you don't know of anything that can make here, you know, less grumpy?"
Sonata brought her hand up to her chin and thought about it, but shook her head when nothing came to mind. "Ever since we lost our magic, she hasn't really been happy."
"Great...thanks though," Sunset said to her, which made Sonata smile again.
"Your welcome, happy to help," she said as the two walked further into the house. When they entered the living room part of the house, they encountered Adagio, who was getting her things together for her to leave.
"Hey Adagio," Sunset said to her, sporting her warm smile again.
Adagio turned towards the voice, and a smile of her own appeared when she saw the sunny girl. "Hey Sunset."
Sunset looked over her packed bag, a questioning look making its way onto her face. "Going somewhere tonight?"
Adagio nodded her head and flipped some of her hair before responding. "Yes, I've been invited to go over to Sour Sweet's house tonight."
Sonata joined up beside Sunset, bringing her hands up in a excited fashion. "Your going over there again, that's great!"
Both Adagio and Sunset turned to look at her, confused as to why the excitement. "Why?" Adagio asked.
"Come one Dagi, let's be real here for a second, you totally like her," Sonata stated, which made Sunset give the now slightly blushing Adagio a smirk.
"Well now, what's this I here?" Sunset asked the Dazzling leader.
"Nothing, I don't like her, despite what that idiot says," Adagio retorted, picking up her bag to check it again.
"Admit it Dagi, you've liked her for awhile now," Sonata said to her leader.
"No, no I do not," Adagio retorted again.
"Oh Adagio, there's nothing wrong with having a crush on someone, just admit your feelings," Sunset said to her, half actually trying to help her and half joking with her.
"Your not helping," Adagio said through gritted teeth.
Aria walked down from her room upstairs to see what the commotion was about. She trudged into the living room holding her black coffee mug, sipping it as she snuck up to the group. "What's going on here?"
Sonata gave a yelp and jumped in her spot at the sudden sound of Aria's voice. Once she calmed down, she turned to the purple siren and held a hand to her chest. "Jeez Ari, do you have to sneak up on us like that?"
Aria rolled her eyes and patted Sonata on the head like a kid. "Yes, yes I do."
Now seeing that Aria was with them, Sunset was reminded of why she was even present in the house. She walked up to Aria and cleared her throat, making the siren turn to her. "So, ready to go somewhere today?"
"Was that today?" Aria asked her, which Sunset nodded to. "Oh, give me a second," she said before drinking the last of her coffee, then tossing the mug to Sonata. "Now we can go."
Sunset just shrugged off what happened and followed her out towards the door.
"Have fun today!" Sonata shouted as the two of them walked out, before turning back to Adagio. "So, Dagi."
"I swear to god Sonata if you say one more thing about me and Sour Sweet, I will rip your voice box out."
Sonata just stood there with her mouth open, before using both of her hands to point upstairs. "I'll just be in my room." She quickly dashed upstairs as Adagio rolled her eyes.
Sunset and Aria climbed into the vehicle, and Sunset turned to her to ask a question, "So, where would you like to go?"
Aria just shrugged and looked at her phone. "Doesn't matter to me."
This did not help Sunset, who was now just looking forward at the road, thinking of what to do. "How about a trip to the mall?"
"Sure, whatever," Aria replied, making Sunset internally sigh.
The car ride was silent, with Aria messing with her phone while Sunset kept trying to think of something to talk about. Once at the mall, she climbed out of her car, and was immediately struck with the thought of why the hell did we come here. Aria felt somewhat the same, but didn't say anything. They both awkwardly walked towards the entrance, and once inside, they just stood at the door.
"So...anywhere you would want to go first?" Sunset asked, hoping for at least some type of plan on what to do.
Aria just shrugged, "I don't really care what we do."
"Ok," was the only thing Sunset could say, since her frustration was slowly but surely kicking in. The two of them walked away from the door and towards the first store. Neither one of them were interested in it, so they moved on. They past several stores, none of them being anything up their alleys. Sunset spent the walk trying to think of something Aria would enjoy, while Aria just thought about why she was even there. After about a hour of walking around and not finding anything to do, Sunset sat down on a bench facing the indoor fountain. Aria plopped down next to her and pulled out her phone again. As Sunset rested her head in her hands, she noticed someone by the fountain. She recognized the girl as one of CHS's biggest bullies, one of them that took her place when she got reformed. Sunset gave a scowl towards her direction, before getting a idea, one her friends wouldn't be particularly proud of. She looked behind her at the rock art that was put up for mall decoration, before grabbing a rock and nudging Aria. The purple siren looked away from her phone to see what see wanted, and noticed the rock in her hand.
"Watch this," Sunset said to her, before chucking the rock as hard as she could towards the girl. The rock hit her right on her ass, making the girl yelp before she lost her balance and fell into the fountain. Both Aria and Sunset started busting up laughing at her as the bully climbed out of the fountain completely soaked. Other people in the mall joined in on the laughter, while some of the others made sure she was alright.
"Oh my god that was funny," Aria said, still laughing at the girls misfortune.
"I know right," Sunset said as her laughter began to subside.
"I thought you didn't do stuff like that anymore?" Aria asked, as her laughter subsided as well.
"She deserved it," Sunset responded. Even though Sunset was reformed, and that she tried to do the right thing most of the time, she still found herself walking that thin line on what is good and evil. Sometimes her old mindset would return, usually for pranks, but nothing to evil.
After the crowd had moved on from the stunt, so did the two girls. With Aria now in a happier mood, Sunset tried having a conversation. Aria asked if she ever did anything else like that, and Sunset responded by telling her about some of the pranks she did to people in school. Aria was surprised at how far she said some of them went, and how the outcome turned out horrible for the other person every time. As the conversation continued, Aria actually started taking a liking to chatting with Sunset. Even though she strove to be a good person, she still had that bad side about her deep down inside. She wasn't ditzy like Sonata, or a prideful psycho like Adagio, she was just normal, and Aria actually liked that. The two walked down the mall walkway chatting happily with each other, until Sunset noticed another bully from CHS getting ice cream. After all the talk about pranks, and what she did back there, Sunset couldn't resist pulling another stunt.
She pulled Aria around the corner and told her about her plan. Aria gave a devious smile as she agreed to it. They grabbed a jump rope from one of the outside boxes outside a store, and laid it across the ground. Sunset held on to one side of it, while Aria held onto the other. They hid in there spots, waiting for the guy to walk towards them. Sure enough, he made his way in there direction, joyfully eating his ice cream. He didn't notice the jump rope laid across the ground, and when he approached it, the two girls lifted it up. His one foot tripped on it, sending him falling forward, face planting onto the hard ground, spilling his ice cream. Sunset and Aria emerged from their hiding places, busting laughing as they returned the jump rope. The two of them walked onward into the mall, laughing at their success.
With the day coming to a end, Sunset dropped Aria off at her house. The two of them walked up to the door, with Aria turning to Sunset.
"Today was fun, we'll have to do it again sometime," she said with a genuine smile.
Sunset returned the smile with her own. "Definitely, maybe next weekend?"
"Sure, sound great," Aria replied as she opened the door. "I'll see you then."
Sunset nodded her head, and turned back towards her car once the door was shut. Once inside her vehicle, Sunset leaned back in her chair, feeling nothing but success about today.
Over the next two months, Sunset got the privilege to spend more time with Aria. The two of them had created a close friendship, a friendship that was even closer than the one Sunset had with Twilight. Despite spending time with the other two sirens, Sunset usually only visited them to see Aria. At first no one really thought anything about it, but as time went on, people started speculating that there was something more than just friendship being brewed. No one was more on board with that idea than Sonata, since she was the first one to start speculating that there might be a potential relationship blossoming.
One evening, Sonata walked into Aria's room, just in time to see her finish preparing to leave. "Going out with Sunset again?" she asked.
Aria turned from her mirror to look at her, before turning back around to finish her hair. "Yeah."
Sonata walked over beside her and looked into the mirror with her. "You two spend a lot of time together."
"So," Aria said as she put the finishing touches down.
"Have you ever thought about why you like spending time with her?"
"She's fun to be around, unlike you," Aria said as she stepped away from the mirror.
Sonata followed her over, standing behind her. "Any other reason as to why?"
Aria turned around and crossed her arms. "Sonata, what's this about?"
"I'm just trying to see if there's any other reason as to why you like being around her so much."
"I already told you, she's fun to be around, what other reason would there be."
Sonata crossed her own arms and gave a smirk, a smirk she obviously learned from Adagio. "Maybe because you like her."
Aria stepped back slightly at her comment, but regained her form and re-crossed her arms. "Why would you think that?"
Sonata gave a short, cute laugh. "Because silly, you two are together all the time, you think someone would do that just because they're fun to be around."
"Yes."
"Not my point, I'm just trying to say that maybe you like her. I mean, look at you, you haven't dressed like that since the Battle of the Bands, and your just going to get dinner."
Aria looked over at the mirror, the sudden realization that she did dress fancier than usual hitting her. "Sonata, I...it's not like that."
Sonata leaned forward with her smirk. "Was that a pause in there, you are unsure about it aren't you."
'Jeez you've been around Adagio to much.' Aria thought to herself. "It's not like that Sonata, now leave my room."
"Come one Aria, just-"
"I said leave my room!" Aria yelled at her, making Sonata quickly leave.
The blue girl dashed downstairs, just in time to hear a knock on the door. She rushed over to open it, finding Sunset standing on the other side. She quickly let her in with a smile, shutting the door behind her.
"You look really pretty tonight," Sonata complimented her.
"Thank you," Sunset replied to her.
As the two walked into the house, Sonata couldn't help but ask. "Sunset, how do you view Aria?"
Sunset looked up at the ceiling and thought about her answer. "Um...she's a good friend."
"Anything else?"
"She's...different."
"And?"
Sunset stopped and turned to Sonata, crossing her arms. "Sonata, what's this about?"
Sonata tried her best to not let out a squee as she watched Sunset act like Aria. "Have you ever thought about her as more than a friend?"
Sunset raised a eyebrow at this. "What?"
"I think you like her."
Sunset gave a slight blush as she was taken back by comment. "W-Why would you think that?"
Sonata rolled her eyes and put her arm around Sunset. "Come one Sunny, you two spend all your time together. You can't tell me that you don't like her."
"I...uh...well...no I don't," Sunset responded.
"I couldn't help but notice some pauses in there Sunshine, just admit you like her."
'Jeez you've been around Adagio to much.' Sunset thought to herself. "Sonata really, it's not like that."
Adagio walked down from her room caring her bag, when she noticed the two of them standing in the living room. "Um, what are you two doing?"
Sonata pulled her arm back and walked over to Adagio. "I'm just trying to convince Sunset that she actually likes Aria."
Adagio looked past Sonata at Sunset, who was rubbing her arm in a shy fashion. "Yeah, whatever."
Sonata looked down at the bag in Adagio's hand and smirked. "Going to visit Sour Sweet again?"
"Yeah," Adagio responded.
"Looks like Sunset isn't the only one that likes someone," she said, putting her arm around Adagio. "Just admit Dagi, you like her, don't you?"
'Jeez you've been around me to much.' Adagio thought in her head. She shoved off Sonata's arm and walked out of the house, leaving Sonata and Sunset standing in the living room.
Sunset looked toward the stairs as she heard Aria walking down them. Two of them smiled to each other as their eyes met. Aria joined beside Sunset, and with their greetings out of the way, they walked towards the door.
"Have fun you two!" Sonata said to them as they walked out. After a few seconds of silence, she looked around the room to see what to do. She then felt her phone go off in her pocket. She pulled it out and answered it. "Hello? Oh hey Lemon!"
Sunset and Aria arrived at the restaurant, getting out of the car and into the place of destination. Once they were seated, they ordered their drinks and looked at the menu. The first few minutes were silent, just both of them looking for what they wanted.
Eventually Sunset broke the silence. "You look really pretty tonight."
Aria looked up from her menu and gave a small smile. "Thanks, so do you."
Once the waitress had brought back their drinks, they ordered their food. With the menus no longer being there to look at, they had to face each other. Neither of them knew what to say, since Sonata had gone and made the night awkward.
"So...how was school this week?" Aria asked, just trying to start something.
"A bit boring, nothing exciting happens anymore."
"Do you need for us to come back and have another battle of the bands," Aria joked with her.
Sunset gave a laugh before responding to her. "I don't think we need that much excitement, although, I am great full for that event."
Aria took a sip of her drink before questioning her. "Why?"
"Without that ever happening, I would've never of gotten the chance to become friends with you."
The two of them smiled at each other for a few minutes, before they realized what they were doing and looked away, a light blush on both of their faces. Their conversation continued, talking about school and different things, until their food came. They both happily ate, taking glances at each other from time to time, and if they caught each other, they would quickly look away. Once they were done, Sunset paid for it, and they walked out to the car to leave. Sunset drove Aria home, parking in front of the house. The two of them walked up to the door, and Aria noticed no lights were on in the house.
"Sonata must've gone somewhere," she stated to Sunset.
"Yeah, I guess...tonight was fun."
Aria turned to Sunset and gave her a smile. "Yeah, it was."
The two of them smiled at each other, before Sunset started to turn away. "I guess I'll see you next week."
Aria nodded her head, but as Sunset started to walk away, she grabbed her arm. She spun Sunset back around to face her, and before Sunset could say anything, Aria kissed her. Sunset's eyes went wide, but she soon started kissing back, putting her arms around the purple siren. The two of them kissed for a few moments, before Aria pulled away, a blush covering her cheeks. She was about to say something, when Sunset put her finger on Aria's lips. She gave a warm smile before replacing her finger with her lips. Aria wrapped her arms around the sunny girl, and licked her lips for entrance. Sunset let her in, and their tongues rubbed against each other. Sunset let out a small moan as their tongues danced together. Eventually they parted, a spit line connecting their mouths.
"You know, no ones home right now, wanna stay the night?" Aria asked her.
"A whole night with you, to do whatever we want, and no one will interfere, absolutely," Sunset responded, as the two of them walked into the house for a night of passionate love making.
