The Trip

Twilight was sitting on her blanket as she was relaxing outside since it was a beautiful day as the weather was perfect for her to relax outside, she had nothing else to do that day except for cleaning up the castle which she was going to have an easy time doing since she had her magic to do it. As Twilight sat on her blanket she saw something in the distance.

She didn't quite make it out at first but as it got closer she saw that it was a pony but she wondered who that pony was as she wasn't expecting any visitors to come and see her that day. Fluttershy sat down by Twilight and smiled sheepishly. Twilight was confused by what she had just seen as Fluttershy didn't really fly.

"You never fly Fluttershy I was surprised that you flew here, you usually stay on the ground and walk to places but now your flying, what changed your mind to make you fly? I don't get the sudden change of transportation." Twilight said as she tried to figure out why Fluttershy flew all of a sudden instead of walk as she rarely flew.

"I've done it a few times, it's not as scary as I thought it would be, besides I'm a Pegasus, that's what pegasus's do, I don't do it often though as I'm not used to it but that doesn't mean that I never do it." Fluttershy remarked softly. Twilight nodded.

"I guess that makes sense, I was just asking as I was shocked but I see your reasoning, anyway why did you come here, don't you want to be with your other friends? You should use more of your time seeing them." Twilight suggested with a smile. Fluttershy frowned and Twilight could immediately sense that something was bothering you.

"What's going on? Everything going alright at my castle? I've been away from their for a few hours so I wouldn't be aware of anything going wrong until I got back their or unless someone told me about something that went wrong. Did something happen or was it somewhere else, I know that expression well." Twilight stated. Fluttershy looked at Twilight.

"Starlight didn't have the nerve to tell you because she was afraid that you might not understand this so she told me to tell you that she is going to leave for vacation and that she would be back to learn more lessons from you after two weeks, please don't get mad at her she just needed a break. Don't get upset with me to!" Fluttershy said in a nervous voice.

"Well...when is she going to be back from this trip that she has been planning to take. I never heard about this until now. Why didn't she come straight to me and tell me instead of asking you to tell me that she went on vacation? It's not your responsibility it's hers." Twilight asked, Fluttershy shrugged.

"She was afraid you would say no to the trip if you told her so she told me to inform you instead of her, she didn't tell me when she is coming back so you would need to ask her that, she's at your castle packing her stuff up if you want to talk to her." Fluttershy said. Twilight thanked Fluttershy and flew to her castle.

When she got inside her castle she could see that Starlight Glimmer was getting ready to leave, Twilight scanned her stuff that she was bringing with her and then she spoke to get her student's attention.

"I heard that your leaving, you do know that you could have just told me yourself right? You didn't have to have another pony tell me because you would be to afraid to tell me directly, I wouldn't have objected to the trip even if your my student, your an adult you can do pretty much what you want but I do want a timeframe on when you will be back so we can continue your lessons." Twilight stated.

Starlight glimmer thought up a timeframe while she packed as she didn't really have that part thought through, she was coming back but she didn't have a definitive timeframe.

"That's the thing....I don't have a specific day, it could be ten days or it could be three weeks I really don't know but I want a extended vacation from the lessons and from helping ponies, I'm sorry for springing this on you but I was afraid you would stop me which it seems like your going to do right now." Starlight accused. Twilight shrugged as that wouldn't be right to do to her as it was her choice but she was upset that she had spring this on her.

"I'm not going to stop you and I'm not mad at you but I'm a bit annoyed that you didn't care to inform me a few days before your trip, you could have sent me a letter or even better yet you could have told me straight to my face." Twilight said with agitation in her voice.

"You would have objected to the trip and you would have tried to stop me if I did so I was nervous to tell you abo the trip as I really want to go on this trip that I have been planning." Starlight explanied which upset Twilight.

"No that's absolutely false, I would have thanked you for telling me and I would have told you that it was perfectly alright so your accusation is unsupportable. You are allowed to take vacations as long as you gave me a heads up but since you didn't and your going anyway then that fact doesn't matter this time but next time when you do another trip like this please tell me. When are you leaving by the way?" Twilight stated. Starlight shrugged as she finished packing.

"Sorry about that. Don't worry I'll tell you beforehand next time. I'm leaving today in the afternoon which is a few hours from now, I have to be at the train station before late afternoon, so that would be early afternoon, they then leave hour after that." Starlight remarked as she continued to pack.

"I don't mean to ask another question but where are you going for your vacation anyway? I'm not going to go there to stalk you or anything but I want to know as I'm curious as to where you chose to go to. what are you going to do on your vacation anyway?" Twilight said. Starlight continued to pack as she told Twilight.

"Manehattan....ill probably stay at a hotel and shop at different stores go see a play, maybe I'll even take a boat tour over there, I'll know what I want to do when I get down there but for now that's some of the stuff I'm going to do..." Starlight said shrugging.

"Have you even booked a hotel room yet? Which side are you staying a way? Lower Manehattan or Higher Manehattan?" Twilight asked.

"I booked a hotel in higher Manehattan. It was the cheapest one I could find to, hotels are really expensive over there. I planned my trip several days in advance, I'll be fine Twilight. After my trip is done I will come back here and we can do more lessons." Starlight said.

"Fine, I'll see you when you get back." Twilight said, Twilight patted Starlight on the back as Starlight waited around for the afternoon and then she carried her stuff downstairs and then she hugged Twilight and said farewell to her, Twilight said bye to her to and Starlight left for the train station, and waited for the train and then the train arrived and Starlight got on the train, she waited for the train to take off as other ponies boarded the train, the train then took off. Meanwhile Twilight went out to dinner with her friends as she decided to relaxed during the time that Starlight was away.

Twilight waited around for Starlight to come back Starlight had fun on her trip as she did so many activities on her Manehattan trip, Twilight told her friends that Starlight had left for her trip and they said that they would miss her during her trip and they said that they couldn't wait for her to get back.

Twilight hung out with her friends as they did numerous activities while Starlight was away, they continued to fix ponies friendship problem's as Starlight hung out in the city as she shopped at certain stores and went to numerous parks.

Starlight also went to the library there and spent numerous amounts of time at the library as she checked out some books and read them during her time in the city, she read them at some parks as well, she took a tour on an old boat and went to a museum about Equestria's history.

Twilight wondered if Starlight would tell her about her trip as she hoped that Starlight had a fun time during her break from the lessons, she did deserve the break as she was a very good student for Twilight.

Starlight exercised in a gym there as well as she needed to get into shape as she had gained some weight while she was at Ponyville, this trip was very good for her as she had wanted to do this trip for a while, she also got a makeover at a salon which took two hours to complete.

Starlight went swimming in a pool there as well as she improved her swimming, she did several laps each day that she was there, she started to enjoy swimming and she even had an instructor teach her for a few days she was in Manehattan.

Starlight went to see the opera to and also saw several artistic play's while she was in Manehattan, she went to see the tallest skyscraper their and also checked out some
of the graffiti artistic ponies did. She also ate at several fancy restaurants

Starlight Glimmer couldn't wait to tell Twilight about her trip and her time in Manehattan, she thought of the possibility of Twilight and her going to Manehattan together as it seemed like a good idea.

After a few more weeks of fun in the city Starlight went back to Ponyville, she went Twilight's castle and took a deep breath as she was nervous that Twilight was angry at her. She hesitated to go in but stepped inside anyway. She went to her room and put her stuff that she had bought away and walked around the castle as she tried to find Twilight.

She soon found Twilight in the castle's library, Starlight was nervous as to how Twilight would react but she was relieved when Twilight smiled at her, Starlight walked up to her and hugged her. Twilight hugged her as well. They then broke away from the hug and Twilight spoke.

"Welcome home Starlight, I'm glad your back, did you have fun in Manehattan? What did do when you were there?" Twilight asked, Starlight nodded as she spoke.

"Thanks Twilight I did have fun, I went shopping and and I had fun at several play's that I watched over there, I went swimming at a center several times there and I went to the library. I also ate at some diners and went to high class places to eat that I surprisingly afforded." Starlight said, she then told Twilight the rest of the stuff that she did as well.

"I'm glad you had fun Starlight. You can do it again whenever you want to as well just make sure to tell me a few days before you go next time okay?" Twilight said, Starlight nodded and then they talked for a bit more as they hung out for the rest of the day. Twilight was glad that Starlight had fun on her stay in Manehattan and Starlight was glad that she had fun herself. Twilight continued to train Starlight.
