"Please, Rarity tell me a story, pleeease!"
The little filly pleaded as she was carried on her older sisters back. The mare in question simply chuckled at her younger sisters antics, levitating the foal from her back in a light blue aura.settling Sweetie Belle onto her bed, she considered the young unicorns request.
"Alright, Sweetie, i'll tell you a story" Rarity said decisively, the filly gave an excited, "Yay!" in joy at the thought of getting something before bed.
Rarity thought of what kind of story to tell the excited filly.
"What do you want in the story?" , Rarity asked.
"Oh how about a cool legend i love those, please." Sweetie Belle gushed, thinking fondly of the numerous legends she had heard before.
"Alright let me think of something" Rarity scanned through her catalog of stories she had grown up with. Trying to decide on one. Suddenly she thought of a story that wouldn't scare the younger unicorn. Sadly the story wasn't really appropriate for a young lady like Sweetie Belle.
Then she remembered an old legend her father once told her when she was young and thought Sweetie would like to hear it as well.
"I think i have just the thing" , Rarity said with a fawned smile on her face.
"Tell me, tell me", Sweetie bounced on her bed wanting to hear the tail her sister was thinking of. She felt almost as if she were being taunted with a treat. Which the only way she would get it was to obey.
"Alright, alright." Rarity chuckled, "but I need you to lay down." When she received a blank stare she added, "so I know your listening." Sweetie nodded to eager to prove that she would listen to the legend so she could maybe pass it to her friends then onto another foal and so forth.
The alabaster unicorn paused to collect her thoughts and remember how the story went. Then after a moment she began her tail.

Long ago at the beginning of time, there was an ancient race that once ruled the earth, but there was something that was missing within them. A hole in their hearts that no amount of wealth, knowledge or power could ever fill.
So in their blind greed for power lands took up arms against their naibers and soon a Great War commenced.
The war was brutal and merciless, no one was safe from the pain of deaths iron grip.
So a ruler by the name of king Morpheus who ruled the eastern lands, watched in dispare as his own cities were burned to the ground.
One day a small town blacksmith told the king that he and 900 others were willing to build him a golden mechanical army, 300 times 300 soldiers. Who never hunger, and could not be stopped.
With no other choice, and the need for the war to finally end the king relented.
"Build me this army you so claim. If you are successful then i shall reward you. But if you fail, it will be the two of us who shall cause our own demise"
When the blacksmith asked what the king ment he said,
"For you giving the thought, and me for taking the action"
The blacksmith agreed and with that began to build the greatest army ever to exist. He and his group of men worked night and day, day and night until it was finished with the creation of a golden sword to command the army.
With sword in his grip the king commanded the army and sent them to defeat the ones who threaten his land. In his blind quest to save his home the king was unaware of the destruction that would be lead in the near future.
When the enemy martched into king Morphiuses capital. the earth beneath their feet shook and, they were met with the sight of great golden monsters that sloddered everything in their path.
The army saw no diffrence between soldier or civilian, to them everyone was an enimie, there was only one exception, and that was the king and his own people. They felt no pain and showed no mercy. The only one who could stop them was the king himself.
It came to the kings attention, through the very blacksmith who created the golden army, that the people of his enemies were being destroyed, but not just the ones who attacked but innocent people as well.
with gilt and regret heavy in his heart the king soon realized his greatest mistake. He did all he could to undo the damage that was caused, and watched as the world he tried to save crumbled and fell around him.
Withgreat sadness at the destruction of the world he despritly tried to save, king Morpheus locked the army deep beneath the earth, and hid the sword away so that no one would use its power to raise the army for dark intentions.
And so they lay, to this very day. Silent, waiting and indestructible. Until a new weilder is found.

"It isn't true, is it? The legend?", Sweetie asked laying on her back with the large blankets over her.
Rarity smiled and thought on the fillies question tucking the blanket around her sister.
"I like to think some legends have a bit of truth hidden in them, so it may be", and with that Rarity gently kissed her sister on the forehead and slipped out of the room. closing the door behind her with a soft click.
As Rarity walked down the hall of her cozy home she smiled as she thought back, fondly, of the many stories her father had told her over the years. yet, that particular one was her favorite. Though admittedly she did change a few things, but the story remained the same.
Stopping in front of what looked like a supply closet Rarity out of habit looked from one side to another to see if she was truly alone. As she expected no one was in sight. Using her magic she opened the door and quickly entered.
Inside the, deceivingly large, room. Were countless maps of both Equestria and the badlands that lined the walls. Several desks were filled with neatly stacked papers and notebooks.
In the middle of the wall farthest from the door was an old painting its age unknown to pony history. On it showed a strange bipedal creature standing before a golden wave of creatures and sillowetted by the bright glow of a golden brod sword raised above its head.
Walking over to one of the desks Rarity levitated out an old leather bound book and flipped through its pages hoping to help the seemstress. Though making dresses helped as a way to make some bits, it wasn't what she was looking for.
As she flipped through notebook after notebook one thing kept echoing in her mind, a single thought that drifted from her mouth.
"Where did you hide it, Morpheus?"
