Princess Of Magic
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryIt has probably been around two weeks since I crowned myself Princess of Magic. Knowing magic and the possibility of infinite universes there was probably a different title I could've given myself, however I've always liked magic, it's always been a part of my personality and is even my element of harmony for Celestia's sake. What else was I supposed to choose. But I've gone long enough with this simple matter, you came here for a story.
As stated it's been about two weeks since I became the Princess of Magic and I've been studying, well, magic. There's plenty I already knew but with an immortal lifespan there's plenty I can learn. I’ve been studying many strange subjects related to magic, mostly unfinished scholar papers, however this castle itself is a treasure trove of mysteries in its own right.
The castle itself is continuously generating new areas to explore within itself, something that has never happened to any object in Equestrian history. And yet, despite it continuously generating all these new areas, it was alive, not just a bunch of crystals modeled to look like a tree, no, this was a living tree. I had to know how it was doing this, fortunately the tree would also generate books, not just about itself, but about other parts of Equestria, almost seemingly as if it was an actual pony, except writing books at about one thousandth of the time it would take a normal pony to do so, so the research materials were basically endless. A lucky thing too. So while I've been researching it's unknown properties I've had Spike explore the rooms, and he's sure helped. Rooms filled with magically imbued objects, in fact a couple of times I've thought these rooms to have items stolen from other ponies around the world so I asked the Royal Guard to report to me any pony that said any object of magical nature of that's been imbued with magic has gone missing but no one has reported anything, however if my said teleporting theory were to turn out true that would mean it would need an absurd, no an unlimited amount of magic, but it would also need an unlimited amount of magic if all of these objects were just being generated (note to self, if this ends up to be true then find a way to tap into said magical power).
Regardless of all my theories I've yet to actually find out what is causing all this to happen, I'm waiting to go to Celestia until I can say for sure that none of these are being stolen. I'll probably be waiting at least two more weeks, but at least that will give me time to research it.
The castle’s seemingly infinite amount of magic, on top of all the magical occurrences in Equestria that are being reported exclusively to me is somewhat overwhelming. I never would've known the amount of magical occurrences that happen in Equestria if I wasn't Princess of Magic. Before becoming the Princess of Magic I would have estimated the amount of magical occurrences to be twenty, maybe fifty, but no, it's somewhere in the hundreds per week! Luckily most of these occurrences are just one pony (usually an Earth pony or Pegasus) not understanding a certain type of magic or Discord messing around, so I've been able to disregard them, however others were actually worth looking into. Tales ranging from seemingly simple things to items that could alter, or completely change, the course of history as we know it.
But today I'm going to go out to our weekly picnic. My friends and I host a weekly picnic so we can catch up and talk about anything we want. I'm haven't revealed anything to them about the castle and just like with Celestia I'll probably be waiting two weeks or so to tell them, that's if none of the objects are being stolen. Regardless I have to get prepared for the picnic.
A Week Later
Yes, I skipped over the picnic, it’s not important to the story, here’s what is important, a week later I got a letter from Princess Celestia, a letter saying that artifacts and spells were being stolen from the Royal Archives, while none of the items were showing up in the castle, and I’d know considering I cataloged everything in the Royal Archives a few months ago, they were being stolen by somepony, or something.
So at this moment I teleported into the Royal Throne Room and spotted two ponies (minus the guards and Celestia) in there.
“I’m very sorry for this disturbance but could you please leave the room” I told them, instructing them to leave the room. “So, what’s exactly going on in the Royal Archives” I asked Celestia “And yes, I’m sorry for disturbing court but if objects are being stolen out of the Royal Archives this gets classified under a national emergency, unless I’m wrong.”
“Well, true, but couldn’t you have waited until I finished? In any case, yes, items are being stolen, but maybe you should see for yourself” Celestia said as she got up from her chair and starting motioning for me to follow her.
“So, I’ve deduced that, from the nature of your letter, none of the chaos items are being taken so it couldn’t be Discord. Am I right?” I asked as we were walking to the archives.
“Yes, but as I’m sure you’ve deduced as well, the only way anyone could’ve gotten into the Royal Archives is if any of us accompanied them in, which none of us did.”
“Well then the only other possibilities is one of you went into the Royal Archives and the pony sneaked in behind you or they were powerful enough to create a full clone of any of us, even then it wouldn’t have worked.”
I could go off on writing a whole paragraph on how the archives work but I've decided to simplify it, only us alicorns and Discord, can access it due to our magical signatures and a DNA lock, plus a thousand other security measures. Even if someone decided to time travel to the past before I upgraded the security system they would not be able to get in.
So, as you can see, the fact that somepony was able to get in is something that I was not able to figure out at the time, let alone how they got out considering the entire room completely drained your magic as soon as you went in.
"Well, somepony got in regardless."
"Ugh, I'll take a look" I said as we reached the Royal Archives.
I took my horn and slide it into the provided slot, backed out, and watched as the door opened...
