A Sparkle-less Christmas

Twilight Sparkle sat at the bedside of a hospital bed, gazing at the pony who lie there. Her mother lay in the bed, the color seemingly dissipated from her coat and mane. Mrs. Sparkle has been diagnosed with a rare disease which slowly saps the life from the victim. It was a horrible way to die, and there was no known cure so Twilight has decided to spend the the rest of her mothers life with her. As Twilight sits, staring at her dying mother, her face reminds Twilight of past memories. When she was small and her mother helped her walk. Her mother was the one who brought Twilight to love books. Mrs. Sparkle was an avid reader, owning hundreds of books and reading Twilight to bed when she was a filly. The memories of her and her mother made Twilight well up with tears, a drop landing on the blanket thats covered over her mother. She gently touched the dying ponies mane. No matter what her mothers mane always smelled of petrichor, but not now, her mother smelled of sterility and hospital. Twilight slowly stopped crying and sat there, her body demanding sleep but her mind wanted to stay up, to be with her mother during her dying breath. Finally her body could not take it and shut down, leaving Twilight sitting on a chair, asleep, her head leaned up and her body became limp, leaving Mrs. Sparkle to herself, to slowly die, in which she did, ever so slowly yet, in her sleep so it was painless. The clock struck midnight and Twilight awoke
