Long ago, in the land of Equestria, there lived three Alicorn sisters who ruled over the land. The eldest sister named Celestia, a pinkish-white mare with a pink flowing mane, rose the sun over Equestria every morning. The middle sister named Terra, a pale blue mare with a brown flowing mane, took care of Equestria's four basic elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. The youngest sister named Luna, a deep blue mare with a lighter blue flowing mane rose the moon over Equestria every night. For many years, these three sisters lived in peace and harmony as Celestia rose the sun, Terra protected the land, and Luna rose the moon. Until one day, Terra began to notice that her two sisters were getting more attention than her, and they seemed to yeild more power than she did. Feeling weak and insignificant, Terra confronted her two sisters on the subject. They assured her that she was very much appreciated and powerful, but she didn't believe them. Terra began to grow jealous and power-hungry for her sisters' powers. So jealous and power-hungry that she'd do anything in her ability to get what she wanted, even if it meant sacrificing her daily routine of keeping all of the primary Equestrian elements in balance. She began to create problems for the Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi everywhere. She made the air up in the skies blow as strong as a tornado, blowing all of the clouds away, which resulted in forcing the Pegasi to live on land; and without clouds to produce rain, the rivers and falls began to dissappear, which caused the land to dry up and crack. This caused droughts, which led to fires all around the land. Terra caused chaos and unrest to all of her subjects , and planned on keeping it that way until she got the respect she desired. These acts caught the attention of a foe the sisters were attempting to destroy. The Draconequus and spirit of chaos himself, Discord. Instead of seeing Terra as an opponent for wreaking chaos, he took a strong liking and attraction to the wrathful alicorn and offered her to join him. The two of them could rule together to create and throw Equestria into eternal chaos and disharmony. As good as the offer sounded to her, she declined. She wanted to do it all on her own, but she decided to befriend him. As time went by, Terra wedded the finest Unicorn in all of Equestria with a great talent of singing and whom she had been in love with for a long time, Tenor. Much to Discord's dismay, this happened in secrecy. However, Tenor later on abandoned Terra after discovering she was behind the reason the land was in utter turmoil. His punishment for leaving her was death. She later bore her and Tenor's foal in secrecy too. It was at that time when Celestia and Luna decided to defeat their sister from her wrathful actions against their subjects. Without Tenor, and having trust in Discord, Terra pleaded that her foal be left in his care while she went to fight with Celestia and Luna. Discord relunctantly accepted. Terra battled it out with her sisters and tried stealing their powers, but failed. She soon found herself on the brink of defeat. Instead of surrendering, she had a plan. She, absolutely furious with them, told them that this wasn't the end and she'd return to battle them again; and when she would, she'd put Equestria into an apocalypse and wipe out all of its inhabitants, including them. Terra left her sisters and retreated to where Discord and her foal were. She decided to use her foal to hide in and make her part of her plan by using her to go against Celestia and Luna on the chosen day she'd return. So she placed a slow aging spell on the Unicorn foal so she'd be old enough on the day, as well as a silence spell for anypony who tried to report her suspicious aging to Celestia and Luna. She then asked Discord to look after her; he accepted, but to only one condition: the foal would become his apprentice for the time being. She agreed to it after a while. And then with all the magic she had, she placed herself into the foal, and disappeared without a trace. After the princesses restored the primary elements of Equestria, after what Terra had done, and brought everything in balance again, Discord rose Terra's foal in secret from the other princesses for a few years. He was still able to bring chaos to the land until Celestia and Luna used the newly discovered Elements Of Harmony to defeat him, and turn him into stone. The filly was left alone with nopony to care for her, until her crying was heard by some kind pony folk who discovered her and took her in as one of their own. Although she could never grow past being a foal, they accepted her and raised her until they grew old and passed on. As many years passed, she was sent from pony family to pony family, and they all wondered why she never grew past her foal state. They also wondered why they found their mouths silenced whenever they tried reporting her "condition" to the princesses. It was not until after 250 years was when this foal finally aged until she reached the size of an older filly. After another 250 years, the filly aged again. And once again in the same time, and again. Finally, she was a full-grown Unicorn mare, but she had no memory of her very long past, or her family whom she desperately wanted to find who they were. All she knew was that her past was full of questions, and maybe her future would hold the answers...

The moon shone luminously upon Equestria that warm night. The sky was dark azure in color, and only very few stars were showing. Everypony seemed to be asleep, all except for the princesses. Princess Celestia layed in her usual spot near the royal fireplace, responding to a letter from her faithful student, Twilight Sparkle. Princess Luna on the other hand, was busy raising the moon as if it was her first time.
"Having difficulties, dear sister?" Celestia teased the younger princess.

Luna glared at the older princess. "Need I remind you that I have not done this for a thousand years, sister." she retorted. Celestia then chuckled softly, dipping her quill into the pot of black ink, and returning to her letter.

"Twilight appears to be learning quite a lot from her friends. I can not keep up." The morning princess vocalized.

Luna smirked, although appearing to have lost most of her energy. The smaller Alicorn sauntered towards her sister. "Oh? Well, have thou told Miss Sparkle about the 'new recruit' yet?"

Hearing the night princess's remark, it dawned on Celestia. The pink Alicorn quickly discarded the unfinished reply to her student, lifted her quill, and began writing a new letter. "I'll tell her about it now. I surely hope this won't be a bad time to inform Twilight..." Celestia said as she looked out at the dark, starry sky.

Luna smiled, and giggled. "Why sister, there is no other perfect time than this!"

Meanwhile at the library in Ponyville, Twilight immediately awoke at the sound of Spike's belch. "A letter from the princess?" the Unicorn jumped out of her bed and ran towards Spike, who was half alseep. "This late at night?" the baby dragon complained. "Why?"

Twilight, then turned on all of the lights and began reading the scroll. It read:

Dearest Twilight Sparkle,
I have noticed you have been progressing very well with your studies on the magic of friendship, so I have given you a new task. You are being asked to mentor a very gifted Unicorn by the name of Marina. I have previously mentored her as I have with you, and I recommend you teach her more about the magic of friendship. Who knows? You two might learn a lot from each other. She will be traveling from Canterlot all the way to Ponyville to see you in a few days from today. Good luck, my faithful student.

Sincerly,
Princess Celestia
Ruler of Equestria

A wide grin creeped across Twilight's face. "Spike, do you know what this means?"

Spike turned over. "Sleep?"

"No! It means..." Twilight pranced around giddily. "I'm going to be a teacher!"

"Huh?" Spike scratched his head in confusion.

"I'm going to teach a pony about friendship! Can you believe it? Me! The student becomes the teacher..."

Spike yawned and made himself comfortable in his bed. Twilight excitedly paced across the library. "This is going to be so great! I can't wait to meet her! What's her name again? Oh, Marina, that's right! I wonder what she'll be like.. A filly probably. No problem! Just like Apple Bloom, Sweetiebelle, and Scootaloo, I'm sure we'll be great friends! That is what I'm teaching her about anyway.. And I'll have to introduce her to everypony else. I'm sure she'd love them! Oh but when she comes, she'll have no place to stay! Hmm... No worries! She can stay here! I'll make her a room! Spike, how does that sound? Uh, Spike?"

She glanced over to notice that Spike had fallen asleep. She giggled and shook her head. "I guess I'll start first thing in the morning." She turned out all of the lights, and went back to sleep. Filled with happy thoughts in her head.
