Chapters Ponies vs Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories
The Elements of Harmony were all reunited in the castle of friendship by Kona’s request. All of them confused by the “gift” they were receiving from their friend.
“So, why are you giving us another Magical Vision?” Twilight asked the question all of them had in their minds.
“Twilight this isn’t a normal Magical Vision, these were modified to run games, since Equestria doesn’t have much in the entertainment department I thought of this little idea. These aren’t perfect mind you; there will probably be some glitches and some minor problems, but it should work properly under normal circumstances.” Konata explained.
“So we get to try a game before anypony else?” Rainbow asked, Konata nodded bringing an excited smile to the prismatic mare, “Awesome!”
“Excuse me, sugarcube. But how do we use tis’ thing?” Applejack asked while looking at the new device in front of her.
“It’s quite simple actually; the red button in the center turns it on and off.” Konata pushed the button on her own personal version, and with a click the device turned on, projecting a screen in front of Konata followed by an ominous chime, then some words appeared. “This is the main menu; there isn’t much to do here besides managing your game data. Speaking of which, all your data is saved on this little card.” She presented a little rectangular thing with three holes in one end. “This is the data card; you can save your progress on the game with this. You just have to plug it on the hole that is on the bottom of the front of your game station.”
“Do we have data cards too?” Twilight asked with curiosity.
“Of course, your cards are on the little compartment on the back of the game station alongside the controller.”
They looked at said compartment and took the cards from inside. They noticed something interesting though.
“Oh! Why do these have our cutiemarks Koni?” Pinkie asked while point waving at the card in her hoof.
“To differentiate them, so those don’t get mixed, every game station has your own cutiemarks on the bottom for the same reason.”
Rarity cleared her throat, “and what may I ask is this game about, darling?”
“Oh, good question Rarity, now how do I explain this…” Konata thought for a moment. “It’s a card game, where you use creatures to reduce your opponents points to zero to win, that’s basically the main goal, what kind of critters do you use depends on your personal tastes. That said, getting a bunch to form your collection can be quite the hassle.”
“Umm… there are no scary situations on this, is there?” Fluttershy asked cautiously.
“I don’t think anything on this game could be considered scary, unless you get scared by some of the creature’s designs which aren’t really all that bad.”
“Oh… ok.”
“Well, may we get the game in question to start the testing?” Twilight asked.
“Sure,” Konata then gave each one another card; this was flat compared to the other one. On one side was a logo with the title.
“Yugioh forbidden memories?” Twilight read the title.
“Yup, it’s one of my favorites, sure it has simplified rules compared to its modern version, but it’s a fun game to start with.”
“I see. I assume this card goes over the card shaped slot on the front?”
“Indeed, but it goes with the logo upwards. After all, the code for the device to read is on the back of the card.”
They turned the cards and saw all the complicated lines of magical code.
“Interesting, I’ve seen this coding method before, is this by any chance Miss Ingrid magical coding?”
“Yes Twilight, she helped me to make this whole idea a reality.”
“Wait, are you saying that rabbit Twilight made this for us?” Konata nodded, “Woah, I didn’t expect that.”
“Rainbow, why do you call Miss Ingrid that way?”
“Well Twi, you two are like the same thing, you two are eggheads and do a great bunch of boring stuff with books all the time.”
“Well, excuse us for like learning new things, and besides you do read books too.”
“Hey! I just read cool books!”
“Sure you do,” Kona said nonchalantly getting a look from Rainbow. “Just saying.”
“Koni! Can we start with the party!?”
“Yeah, I think we better get to the point. First, put the card on the designed slot, with the logo upwards of course, push it until you hear a click sound and push the red button, in case you turned the game station on before placing the card just wait a little it will load by itself.” She then saw some of the girls fidgeting in their seats.
“But you don’t have to test it right now, I can see some of you have work to do, and I can’t distract you from your obligations after all.” Konata looked at AJ and Rarity, “Especially you two.” She said while pointing at them with a comprehensive smile.
“Are ya sure sugarcube? Ya went over a lot of trouble ta get these for us.”
“Yes I ‘am, this is more a gift than anything, and if this pass testing it can also become the new trend in Equestria, but I’m not in a rush for that to happen.”
“So this is like an investment, am I right darling?”
“Right on the money like always Rarity,” Konata praised. “Like I said these should work properly as long as no weird stuff get into them, and if any problem arises just let me know and we can work it out.”
“So, we don’t have a schedule for this testing session?”
“No Twilight, all of you are free to test the game station at your own rhythm and besides I don’t have a lot of time left today, I have to go talk to Ini in 30 minutes.”
“But Kooooooooni.”
“Shut up Pinkie and go to work.”
“But I wanna plaaaaaay.”
“Pinkie, go to work or I’m cutting this week’s special treats delivery.”
Pinkie gasped, “Touché, Koni.” She said with mid closed eyes.
“Psst, Twi.” Rainbow whispered to Twilight, “Since when does Kona know how to manage Pinkie?”
“I have no idea Rainbow, but those two are very close, it wouldn’t surprise me if she knows more about Pinkie that she lets out.” Twilight whispered back.
“Well, with everything said, this meeting is over girls. I wasn’t able to explain everything but the basics are in the manual. There’s also a strategy guide with some detailed information but I didn’t include it because it would ruin the immersion. Anyways I’ll see you in a couple of days, bye bye.” Konata waved good bye before exiting the castle with Pinkie behind her.
“Pinkie?” the mares in the room asked at once.
“I’m going to make her company in her way to the portal and then I’ll go to work!” she shouted energetically put a card in her mane and bounced out the door.
“I’ll see myself out too girls, I have an order to finish today, the mare in question should be coming in a few hours and I’m almost done with it.”
“It’s ok Rarity, everypony has things to do today, I myself need to sort out some old parchments. Here’s an idea girls, lets test this game in tonight’s multi call, and we can use our regular Magical Visions while we play. How does that sound?” Twilight suggested.
“I have no issues with that, darling.”
“Sounds cool enough.”
“That’s ok, at least that way it won’t be scary…”
“Ah’ll be mighty thankful fer that Twi, it was hard enough ta learn how ta use the normal thing.”
“It is decided then, somepony let Pinkie know about the plan, it will be at eight o’clock, be sure to be punctual everypony.” Twilight said, her friends nodded and everypony went to their own occupations for the day.
What nopony knew was that this game would be quite the journey. Oh boy.
Author's Note
It's weird how this came to me has an idea. But hey hunches are always nice, right?
Also since the name selection screen would be kind of the thing, if anyone wants to suggest a 6 letter or less name for Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow and Applejack I would consider it. Rarity and Pinkie are out because their names are 6 characters long which is the maximun for the game.
Another idea for this is that I will try to reproduce the gameplay in the actual game, it will be tricky and annoying but that probably will give some more life to this.

Chapter 2: Getting Started.
That night, five of the six elements laid comfortably on their beds, with a day of work done they wanted to relax some and also finally test the gift given to them by Konata.
That was the plan, but Rainbow didn’t make to the established hour.
“It’s 8:03 already! Where is she!?” an exasperated Twilight asked.
“Calm down, Twilight. I’m sure she is just a little late, besides nopony can be that punctual all the time.” Rarity pointed out.
Twilight let out a tired sigh. “I know, I guess I’m kind of antsy because I don’t know how this will go.”
“Don’t worry Twilight! Koni gave this to us so we can experience more fun things, it’ll be alright!”
Then their Magical Visions received a new signal.
“Sorry for the delay guys.” Rainbow said.
“Finally, what were you doing Rainbow?” Twilight asked.
“Had to put some food on here.” She said while rubbing her barrel.
Some of them rolled their eyes.
“Alright, shall we start?” Twilight asked her friends.
“Yeah, let’s kick some flank!” Rainbow replied.
“Ooooh! This will be so much fun!” Pinkie added.
The others opted for just nodding.
“Ok, let me get the manual and…” she levitated the manual in front of her, “there we go, first like Konata said this morning let’s place the card with the game on its corresponding slot on the front with the logo facing upwards, push it until you hear a click sound.”
The mares took their cards and push them on the slot were its supposed to go, soon enough a round of clicks were heard.
“Good start, now we need to press the red button to turn it on.”
They did as said and pressed the red button, as the screen projected in front of them, they heard an ominous sound with the logo of the game station followed by a black screen with Ingrid’s face on the middle and the words “this version of the game is brought to you by Álfheimr’s university of magical artifacts and research.”
“Rabbit Twilight sure likes to rub her ego into other's faces,” Rainbow said nonchalantly.
AJ rolled her eyes, “Ya just mad at her because ya got caught looking at the other’s sheets in that test thingy ya took.”
“Hey! She targeted me from the start!” Rainbow countered.
“That doesn’t sound like something Miss Ingrid would do, she is a great teacher and you just probably weren’t able to keep up.”
“Of course book worms will defend each other.”
“Girls please, this was a rather tiring day, let’s not sour it anymore with pointless arguments.” Rarity suggested, but it sounded more like an order.
The discussing mares stopped and groaned internally, “Fine…” the two said at once.
“Perfect, now can we proceed?”
Twilight sighed again, “Next thing we need to do is, get our controllers that are on the back of the game station.”
They looked at the back of the game station where a little compartment was located opened the little door and took what appeared to be a bent pad.
“What?” they said in confusion.
“Emm, according to the manual this pad is the controller, unfold it to see the controls.”
And that they did, upon unfolding they noticed the pads had their coat color and as detail had their cutie marks on the top right corner.
As for the controls, on left where four arrows pointing left, down, right and up. On the middle were two little buttons one labeled select and the other start. On the right were four more buttons which contained the symbols x, ○, ∆ and □. And finally on the upper part four buttons two on the left with L1, L2 and R1, R2 on the right.
“Ok, now what?”
“Everypony, press start.”
They pressed start, and a new logo appeared.
“Konami? What is that?” Rainbow asked.
“Probably the company that originally made this game?” Twilight replied.
After the logo passed, “Konami Computer Entertainment Japan” appeared on the screen. After that, a pink light illuminated a spiraling purple portal with rays of light zooming towards the screen. Then a card materialized on the middle, and spun towards the screen changing the scenery to a weird eye on a wall with fire under it. Then some strange letters appeared before the words “Yu-Gi-Oh!” attached over them. Moving up some, the words made space for “Forbidden Memories” to appear under it. After some moment the fire rose to cover the screen and the image changed to a gray wall with hieroglyphics, the logo of the game on the middle and the words “Push Start Button” pulsing below.
Music: Main Menu
“Alright, now-“
“Just push start.” Rainbow deadpanned.
“I wasn’t-“
“You were going to say; ‘now you have to push start girls’ and you can’t deny it.” Rainbow pointed out and Twilight pouted.
They pressed start and five new options appeared, “New Game, Load, 2P Duel, Trade and Option.”
“Can I continue to explain the basics Rainbow, is that ok with you? Or we need another clever remark?”
“Just do it fast, you take forever to explain things.”
Twilight groaned, “Very well, since all these options are self-explanatory I can skip their meaning. Now for the controls, the arrows are self explanatory too, the x button is for confirming our selection, ○ is for cancelling, ∆ is only used to check the cards descriptions and □ does the same as x but here says to not use it because it’s glitchy on gameplay and could possibly crash the game. And-”
“Let’s start already.” Rainbow said and pressed x to select “New Game” the others followed suit and Twilight sighed but went along.
Music: Input Name Menu
The words “Input your NAME!” appeared on a text box on the bottom.
“Hmm, it seems we have just 6 spaces for our names.”
“Well, Ah’ve mah name decided.” Applejack said while typing A.J on the menu.
“Me too! me too!” Pinkie shouted repeatedly, and then an ear ripping ringing sound was heard, it was Pinkie writing her name in a second, how did she managed to accomplish that when the game has a fixed speed for the cursor? We shall never know.
“I have to admit this game knows how to treat a lady by letting her use her name.” Rarity said while typing her own name.
“I think I’ll go with R.D then-“
“Not so fast Dashie, I dare you to use “Dashie” as your name in-game!”
“What!? No way I’m doing that, Pinkie.”
“What’s the matter? Are you a chicken?” Pinkie then did some chicken noises.
“You think I’m afraid!? Then you’re wrong! Check this out!” Rainbow sounded defiant, but she cringed at every letter while she wrote “Dashie” in the menu.
Fluttershy, who finally poke out her head from below the covers. Oh right, Fluttershy cowered in fear at the loud ominous sounds of the intro and the Main Menu theme.
Anyways she slowly typed her name, “Shy…”
“Emm, Fluttershy. Did you typed an ellipsis in your name just now?”
“Umm… yes. Was that wrong?”
“No, just saying.”
“Oh… It’s ok.”
And Twilight after going on and on about her name, she decided to go for “Twily.”
“Ok everypony let’s confirm our names.”
Everypony selected the “Yes” option on the confirmation window.
Dash felt her pride slowly creeping away from her as she did this.
After confirmation the message “Your duelist code has been recorded” appeared. Then “You cannot DUEL or TRADE with the same DUELIST CODE.”
“Ok, that makes sense.” Twilight said.
After that the screen faded to black and they heard some steps, moments later a figure appeared.
“Somepony seems to be looking for something.”
The screen faded to a close up of the figure.
“This is it…” appeared on-screen.
“Eww, this gentlecolt needs a spa treatment at once!” Rarity seemed disgusted at the face of this person.
“So, who’s the creep?”
“I don’t know Rainbow, probably an explorer?”
“I’ve found it at last…” appeared after another x press.
“Umm… at least he seems happy about it.”
“Tis’ fella doesn’t give me a good vibe.”
“The forbidden treasure of the ancient sorcerers.” Was next to appear.
“Wait, forbidden treasure? So he’s stealing it!” Twilight remarked.
“Told ya, Ah’ know a rotten apple when Ah’ see it.”
The view changed to a sliding image of some strange symbols and drawings with the message “Hahahahaha!” on the text box.
“Hahahahaha,” Pinkie laughed along, before pausing and looking at the strange stares her friends were giving her. “What? It was fun for him. Look he thinks so too.” Pinkie said pointing at the new laughing text on-screen.
The others face hoofed, except for Fluttershy who was hiding again.
“That pony is up to no good Pinkie.” Twilight pointed out.
Then the scene faded and loud music was heard showing the game’s logo again, confirming the start of the game.

“And if he’s not?”
“We’ll know soon enough I think.”

So the journey has begun, the duels will start from the next chapter.
Also like I said, I'll be emulating the duels in the actual game. So each one of the mane 6 has a different deck.
Now if you want to suggest a theme for each deck I'll take it into consideration, just to make it more fun.

Chapter 3: The mane 6 vs Simon Muran (A.K.A. The insensitive Brute)
BGM Simon Muran.
The black fade out, brought the mares to the front of a palace it was night time. Then a robed figure appeared its face was totally covered so they weren’t able to say what it was.
“My dear princess!” the text in the box said.
“Oh, so we are royalty on this game? That’s a pleasant surprise if I say so myself,” Rarity said happily, maybe she was exaggerating the whole being a princess thing, but who knows.
“Argh! Great, now I have princess added to my name in game, I swear if somepony calls me princess Dashie I’m going to kick them to tartarus!”
“There’s something interesting with this scene, according to a note on manual, originally the character was a male but they change it for us. I’m surprised they went that far to not making us feel uncomfortable.”
“Well, Ah’m still sure has hay that being called a princess will take some time to get used to.”
“Are you going to the city to play cards again!?” the mysterious character said.
“Well duh, what else am I supposed to be doing?” Rainbow replied to the fictional character.
“Rainbow dear, a princess should always present herself with grace and looking her best even for such activity!”
“You are of royal blood! Walking the city streets dressed as a commoner. Have you no shame!? Quite frankly, I’m embarrassed!” the robed character said.
The room fell into silence only the music could be heard.
Then Rainbow burst into laughter, “Hahahahaha! S-so m-much for looking your best there, Rares!” She managed to say in between breaths.
The others facehoofed except for Rarity.
Rarity’s eye twitched involuntarily, “How dare you, speak your princess that way! I’ll make sure you get fired from whatever job you may have, you insensitive brute!”
“Woah Rarity, calm down.” Applejack tried to calm her friend.
“Calm down? Calm down!? This hideous looking person here insulted my wardrobe Applejack! Don’t tell me to calm down!”
“It’s just a game Rarity; tis’ fella is not even real.”
“Hmmph!” Rarity said as looking away indignantly.
Then Twilight noticed something, “Oh, new options.”
The options “Run away” and “Keep listening,” were on screen.
Rarity took no time for selecting “Run away” same with Rainbow.
“No way I’m sitting there with that dude, he looks so lame.”
“I must agree with Rainbow here, such disrespect for a lady is unforgivable.”
“Ah’ don’t really care about what he says, but Ah’ want to see more of the game.” AJ selected Run away too.
“Umm… I’m sorry sir but you weren’t very nice, so I must go” Fluttershy said before selecting Run away.
Pinkie was just making noises by pressing up and down constantly.
Twilight wanted to say something but thought otherwise just to not set Rarity off. So she selected Run away too.
“Pinkie stop doing that and choose please.”
“Okie dokie lokie!” She said as she selected Run away.
“Wait! My princess!” the character said with a shocked expression before changing to its stoic one, “Drat! She’s gone…”
Rarity felt that retribution has been accomplished.
BGM First Environment of Duels.
Twilight then explained that they had to return to the pharaoh’s palace to start their first game.
Rarity didn’t wanted anything to do with the “insensitive brute” but gave up soon after, she still wasn’t happy.
BGM Simon Muran.
“Princess (name of the character here). You’ve returned…” the character said.
Rainbow started seeing red, the words “Princess Dashie” were on screen. “Twilight… tell me we have the chance to kick this dude’s flank.” She said darkly.
“Yikes, Dashie is red from her frowny frown.”
“Alright… to answer your question Rainbow, yes we have the option to confront him. He’s actually the first enemy according to the manual but it doesn’t say his name anywhere, that’s weird.”
“It is well into the night… Please return to the palace.” The no name character said.
“Buck you, I do what I want.” Rainbow said still red of anger and embarrassment.
“Dear Princess… If you still wish to play cards… then try your hand against me. If you lose, you must return to your room. I’m sure you’ll find me a worthy opponent.” The blue faced character said then the options “Duel” and “Pass” appeared.
“Worthy opponent my flank! You’re going down whoever the hay you are!”
“Uuuuuhh, this is getting intense! I can’t wait!” Pinkie said excitedly.
All of them selected “Duel”
“Ho ho ho. My dear princess… I taught you the game. You don’t really think you’re going to win, do you? Prepare yourself!” the character with the big had said.
The screen faded to black before coming back.
BGM Build Deck.
They were brought to a screen that looked like a list with the word chest at the upper left corner, the word order to its side followed by various symbols and a white diamond with the number 40 on the upper right with a flashing arrow pointing right.
“This is the deck building screen; here you choose your cards to play. The deck always has to have 40 cards; the cards are divided in 3 types, monsters those are yellow cards, spells are green cards and trap cards are dark pink. Monsters have two stats that define their effectiveness in combat, Attack represented by a sword or ATK, and Defense represented by a shield or DEF those two are followed by a number the higher this number the better.” Twilight explained.
“Hmm, it makes sense.” She took a breath before continuing, “I suggest we take turns in doing this girls, I’ll go first to test it.”
“No way! I want to go first!”
“Rainbow you don’t even know how to play, let me try it, then you can go after ok?”
“Fine…” Rainbow said crossing her hooves and pouting, “I hope you lose.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence Rainbow.”
Twilight’s duel.
Twilight left the deck building screen, it faded to black. Then a board appeared from the shadows, their life points went up to 8000 and Twilight’s hand was drawn.
BGM Egyptian Duel.
“Ok, let’s see what I got.” She took a look at her hand/hoof considering her options. “Oh, I got a spell, now how do I know what this does?” she checked the manual, “alright ∆ to see the card’s information.”
“Dark Energy: Equip spell card, Dark forces increase the power of Fiend and other monsters of the Dark!”
“So that means I can play it with a fiend type monster to give it more power?”
“Come on Twilight, make your move already!”
“Easy Rainbow let me get a hold of these controls first.”
She then read to her friends what every button does and some other minor aspects of a duel like the position of the cards and the meaning of that.
“Alright, I’ll go with this.” She selected Meda Bat (A800/D400) from her hoof, she decided to put it face-up, when the Guardian Star selection appeared she wasn’t sure of what to choose.
“The manual mentions these, they have different interactions with others but it doesn’t explain what they accomplish.”
“Just do your move!”
Twilight groaned, “Fine!” she chose Moon and left her end her turn with her monster on Attack position.
The Cpu put a Uranus star monster face down in defense and end it’s turn.
Twilight drew a new card. “Oh, this one is pretty strong.” Without considering it too much Twilight chose the new monster Lady of Faith (A1100/D800) and place it face up with the Sun guardian star.
“Alright time to go on the offensive.” Choosing not to risk it, she attacked with Lady of Faith, destroying the defending monster which was Ancient Jar (A400/D200).
Then she attacked with Meda Bat directly.
Cpu LP = 7200
“His cards don’t appear to be too strong,” she then ended her turn.
The Cpu once again set defensive monster but with the Moon star.
Twilight was enjoying her first duel, she figured her opponent had no opportunity against her superior cards but she didn’t let her guard down.
Selecting the new monster on her hand Hurricail (A900/D200) she place it face up with the Neptune star.
This time however she attacked with Meda Bat at the defending monster (Dark Plant A300/D400), and then attacked with her other two monsters before ending her turn.
Cpu Lp = 5200
The Cpu set down a Jupiter star monster.
Twilight picked Penguin Knight with Uranus star and put it on the field.
She destroyed the defending monster (Griggle A350/D300) and attacked directly.

Cpu Lp = 2300
Her opponent set another Jupiter star monster and passed.
She selected The Wandering Doomed (A800/D600) put it on the field with the Moon star and attacked the face down (Leghul A300/D350) then ended her opponent with the rest of her army.
BGM You win!
“That was interesting,” she said as the little fanfare sounded, she got a POW S-Rank, 5 starchips and the card Mystic Lamp (A400/D300).
“You won. T’would seem that I taught you well… You’ve grown strong. You’ve won fair and square. As promised, you may go. I’ve nothing more to say…” the mysterious man said and the screen faded to black sending Twilight to the world map.
“Tis’ fella at least knows how ta accept a defeat, Rainbow should learn from him.” AJ said with a smirk.
“He’s just a loser, and he will lose again against me, oh yeah!” Rainbow boasted.
“Alright girls you can go all together, he does not seem to be much of a treat for monsters with more than 500 points in stats.”
And that they did Rainbow finished swiftly with Patrol Robo (A1100/D900), Kaminarikozou (A700/D600), Yashinoki (A800/D600), Change Slime (A400/D300) and The Drdek (A700/D800). Her victory earned her and S-Pow 5 stars and the card Time Wizard (A500/D400).
Applejack won with Penguin Soldier (A750/D500), Lucky Trinket (A600/D800), Akakieisu (A1000/D800), Masked Clown (A500/D700) and Phantom Ghost (A600/D800). She got a S-Pow 5 stars and Mechanical Spider (A400/D500)
Rarity still sore from the encounter with the “Insensitive Brute” won with Dharma Cannon (A900/D500), Sectarian of Secrets (A700/D500), Doron (A900/D500), Meotoko (A700/D600) and Happy Lover (A800/D500) but not before complaining about how her monsters weren’t ladylike enough for her. Besides her S-Pow/5 stars spoils, karma didn’t want to go with her nonsense and gave her the card Fungi of the Musk (A400/D300)

Fluttershy played so quietly that none of the others saw what happened, but apparently she received damage because her Lp were 7900. She was a little embarrassed but she got a Time Wizard and the obvious S-Pow/5 stars.
When Pinkie started her duel she kept on moving the cursor left and right making a very irritating sound, when the others told her to stop she started playing and she was the fastest when it comes to turn count. Her monsters were Hibikime (A1450/D1000), Unknown Warrior of Fiend (A1000/D500), Skelengel (A900/D500) and Cyber-Stein (A700/D500). She got the S/5 and a Change Slime alongside the slack jawed expressions of AJ, Rainbow and Twilight.
They couldn’t believe Pinkie had such a strong monster on her deck.
“That’s not fair! How come I didn’t get an awesome monster like that?” Rainbow complained.
“The starter decks are randomized apparently, that still doesn’t explain how Pinkie’s deck turned out so strong.”
“I don’t know, I just wanted to have fun and that I did!”
“Anyways, this took quite some time to test, I think we better end it here and continue tomorrow, do you agree?” Twilight asked, and they seemed to accept it.
Except for Rainbow, “Do we have to? I’m not tired yet! I need to get better cards.”
Twilight deadpanned, “Rainbow, I can see your eyes fighting to be closed, I know you’re excited I’ am too, but our health comes first, besides there’s work to do tomorrow.”
“Fine…” Rainbow accepted begrudgingly.
“Ok, everypony plug in your Data Cards and go to the card shop to save our progress.” Twilight said but she already saved while the others had their duels.
The mares did as they were told and saved their games.
“We will continue tomorrow at the same hour, have a good night of sleep girls.” Twilight said to them with a warm smile.
A collective wave of cute ‘yawns’ was heard, and everypony said good bye before turning off their Magical Visions and going to bed to recharge energy for the next day.
Everypony except one…
“They’ll never know,” the raspy voice said with a chuckle, “I’ll be the best, you’ll see!”

Well, there we go first duelist down, also poor Fluttershy she got a bad hoof.
And jeez Pinkie got a starter deck in steroids.
But overall the best deck in my opinion is Twilight's, you didn't see here but there are a couple of cards that makes her deck the stronger of the six.
The worst go to Rainbow and Applejack, they don't have anything significant.
Now let's just see how they handle the rest of the cast.

Chapter 4: Dueling the Villagers (A.K.A Fluttershy hears the voice)
The next day the girls prepared for a new gaming session, they liked the game so far but weren’t totally invested into it, well maybe some of them were.
Rainbow was more confident this time for some reason; the others just thought she was in a particularly good mood today so they shrug it off.
After getting some snacks to go without interruptions, they turned the game on, skipped the intro and loaded their save files.
“What do we have in today’s agenda Twilight?” Rarity asked.
“Well I did some more reading, and apparently we need to go to the area named Duel Grounds, there are four opponents on this area and one of them is a one time duel only. If we leave the Duel Grounds without dueling this person, we wouldn’t be able to add it to our list of duelists in the Free Duel menu because we missed our chance to battle him.” Twilight explained.
“So the plan is kick everypony’s butt in the Duel Grounds? Sounds rather easy if you ask me.” Rainbow said with smugness.
Applejack had a hunch that something wasn’t right, “and what do ya mean by that sugarcube? For all we know these fellas could be way stronger than us. Or do ya know something we don’t?” she asked skeptically.
“Nope, nothing at all.” Rainbow waved a hoof dismissively.
“Fer some reason Ah’ don’t believe ya.” Applejack gave Rainbow a suspicious stare.
“Come everypony let’s have fun! Don’t go all grumpy now!” Pinkie said.
“Alright, but Ah’m watching ya Rainbow.”
“It’s normal to watch someone better AJ, I get it.” Rainbow said smugly.
Twilight rolled her eyes and they went to play after that.
Their journey started well enough, in the Dueling Grounds they found a friend of their character, it was a girl who mentioned somepony named Jono and then challenged them to a duel. Everypony accepted and Rainbow cocky smile grew even more.
That’s when Twilight noticed something strange, “Rainbow why do you have 11 cards in your card chest?”
“W-well emm, you know the dude from last night gave them to me! I was surprised too.” She tried to lie but she was terrible at this.
“Interesting, because you know, in the manual says that you can only get ‘one’ and only ‘one’ card at a time for winning a duel.”
“That’s wrong then!”
“Oh really?” Twilight said playfully. “Girls how many cards do you have on your card chest?”
All of them answered 1; Rainbow knew her charade wasn’t working anymore so she gave up.
“Ok, ok I played some more last night. I just couldn’t help myself I needed a better deck…” She said sourly, “After seeing that strong monster in Pinkie’s deck I didn’t wanted to be less. I’m sorry for going forward without telling you guys.”
“Oh… it’s ok Rainbow, don’t be too harsh with yourself if you had fun playing then I’m happy for you.” Fluttershy said.
“She’s right darling, it’s just a game after all. Besides is not like you went too far ahead, you just got some more cards am I right?”
Rainbow nodded, “Yeah I got an awesome monster! But that’s not all, I figured something else too!”
“Oh? What did you found Rainbow?” Twilight asked with curiosity.
“I know what those star thingies you chose in the monsters do.”
“The guardian stars? Interesting, what are those for?”
“Yeah, look. Each of those has an advantage and a disadvantage, like if I have a sun monster and I attack with it to a moon monster, mine gets 500 points in that attack, if it were a mercury monster then that one gets 500 points. I figured that out after seeing that dude Simon beating some of my uncool monsters and getting the points.”
“I see, that will definitely help us get over stronger monsters. But who’s Simon?”
“That’s the name of the guy at the palace; his name appeared in Free Duel.”
“Alright, anything else you discovered Rainbow?”
“No, that’s all.”
“Well Ah’ve that say that ya did the right thing there Rainbow, good job.”
“Ok, enough mushy stuff, let’s get to the butt kicking!” Rainbow said with renewed spirits.
“You heard Dashie, let’s party!” Pinkie said throwing a hoof upwards for emphasis, the others did the same and the duels started.
BGM Egyptian Duel.
The duel against the girl went on rather quickly, her cards weren’t any better compared to Simon’s, during the duel Twilight made a list with the Guardian Stars and their interactions with one another, she then showed it to the girls so they could write it down too.
After their fast victory the girl looked rather down for losing but she was still smiling and even invited them to a festival for when they finished their business in there.
Going on, their next opponent was an old looking man with moustache and bland clothes that made Rarity hiss at him in disgust. He was talking about the festival being celebrated in town, but he’d rather play games instead and soon enough he asked for a duel.
After accepting the challenge, they noticed the duel wasn’t any harder than the one before and scored another quick victory, the rewards weren’t anything noteworthy just more monsters they already had.
“Wow, these guys suck even more than Simon.”
“I don’t share your choice of words Rainbow dear, but I’ve to agree, these don’t seem to be any more talented than our rude acquaintance in the palace.” Rarity said while getting more comfortable on her spot.
“We are still at the very start of the game, it’s probably normal for them to be so weak so we can adapt better to the game mechanics.”
They weren’t totally wrong with that statement and their new knowledge about the Guardian Stars did help them. But not everything is like it looks.
The next villager appeared it looked like a young boy, he asked them if they found any rare cards, Rainbow smiled at this. Then he said he himself got a good card and if they want it they had to beat him but the same applied to them if they lose.
As all of them got into the build deck menu, Fluttershy got cravings for something sweet so she went to fetch herself some cookies from downstairs; she forgot to bring them with her before the session started.
“I hope is a not a problem if I just watch for a bit.”
“Go ahead Fluttershy, we can wait.”
“Oh no Twilight, I couldn’t do that. Please continue without me for now, have fun.” Fluttershy said while slowly eating a cookie.
Twilight nodded with smile, “alright then, let’s continue.”
“I don’t think the guys that are left are any better, Flutters will catch up quickly.” Rainbow said confidently.
Oh boy they were in for a rude awakening on this one.
The duels began, and at first it didn’t seem all that different, their opponent responded with a defense monster like the previous two. But upon attacking they noticed the monster was way stronger than the ones from the other duelists.
Rainbow, Twilight and Pinkie got surprised when their monsters got defeated by a moon star attacker, Dragon Zombie (1600/0).
“Woah. That must be the rare card he was talking about; well it’ll be mine when I beat him up.” Rainbow stated.
“Emm, Rainbow? That thing has 1600 attack points, we don’t have anything even close to that and our sun monsters are too weak to overcome it with Star advantage.”
“Talk for yourself Twi, because when I get my Celtic Guardian (1400/1200) I’ll beat that rotten thing.”
Then Pinkie’s tail twitched, “Twitchy tail! Twitchy tail! Something is going to fall.”
The mares inspected their surroundings but nothing seemed out of place and nothing fell down during the five minutes wait they took.
“Weird…” Rainbow said getting a nod from her friends.
Since nothing happened they decided to continue playing, the three previous mares defended having nothing outcome the putrid dragon, Rarity was able to out it with her The Judgement Hand (1400/700) when coincidently she selected its sun star. Applejack wasn’t doing better than the rest but her opponent didn’t used Dragon Zombie against her yet.
That was when the cpu did something they didn’t expect, it lifted some cards and used them together, the cards combined forming a new monster even stronger than Dragon Zombie.
“What in tarnation?”
“What the hay? How did he do that?”
‘There’s also a strategy guide with some detailed information’ Twilight recalled that from when Konata gave them the game, “So this was what Konata meant by detailed information…”
They got pushed and pushed eventually losing due to not being able to do anything against that. In Rarity’s duel that didn’t happen, with some difficulty she was able to beat her opponent which didn’t use the combination technique against her. Applejack drew Dark Hole in a crucial moment wiping her opponent’s side even if she was defenseless she was able to overcome the next monsters earning her the victory.
“Uff, that a close one, Ah’ reckon tis’ young looking fella was a tough one.”
“That’s not fair, and he didn’t even use that thing against Rarity!” Rainbow complained with pouty face.
“A true gentlecolt knows when to let the lady win Rainbow dear.”
“So that was what was going to fall, oh well it was fun anyways and now we know a new thing! I can’t wait to see what kind of new party members we can get with this!” Pinkie wasn’t even bothered by losing.
“That’s true; we need to test this technique out. But let’s wait until Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy finish their duels.”
Even if Fluttershy was a bit scared she had no mayor problems against the young boy, he didn’t use Dragon Zombie nor did he combine any cards, this annoyed Dash even more and she was going to have her revenge on that guy.
While Fluttershy duel was going on Rarity and AJ went against the fourth villager a very old and bald man with lots of wrinkles, he didn’t look like he was too interested in dueling but to their surprise he challenged them. Unlike last time, Rarity did not last much, she didn’t draw The Judgement Hand and her opponent was ruthless. AJ lasted longer and almost got him (Cpu was at 1200 Lp), but Dragon Zombie appeared on the verge of her victory killing any hopes she had.
Now Fluttershy was the only one who didn’t lose yet, and her previous victory earned her the card Ancient Sorcerer (1000/1300). She was afraid; the fourth opponent had some monster with over 1000 points if she didn’t drew anything over that it was pretty much over.
The duel started and no monster with over 1000 points was in her hoof just a bunch of 700s and 800s alongside Unknown Warrior of Fiend (1000/500) and Sogen. She was about to give up but something happened, it was a weird experience but something in her mind told her that this wasn’t over.
BGM Judai’s Theme.
The others had raised eye brows at Fluttershy’s play, she set sogen without reading what the card actually does and passed, her opponent attacked her with Torike (1200/600) looking at her hand they didn’t see an out to it and Fluttershy didn’t even draw her stronger monster Shining Friendship (1300/1000) or any Saturn monster.
But with a strange determined expression very rarely seem on Fluttershy she summon Unknown Warrior and activated Sogen making her monster go up to 1500/1000. Even weirder was the fact that her opponent wasn’t able to outdo her, not matter the monster she was able to beat it with her boosted warrior, Dragon Zombie didn’t even appear. Finally she managed to beat the fourth opponent without having to learn the card combination technique and received Flame Ghost (1000/800) and B/3 stars.
After the duel was over the others had their jaws on the floor except for Pinkie who had a giant smile on her face.
“Did Fluttershy just surpass us?” Rainbow asked in disbelief.
“You were great Fluttershy! You went like ‘here, show me what you got!’ and then you pulled a combo!”
“I suppose you knew what Sogen does and you planned that right?” Twilight inquired.
“Umm… no, I don’t know what went into me I just had the feeling that everything would be alright if I played that card, I don’t know how to explain it.” Fluttershy replied.
“It’s ok darling, you outdid yourself in that performance. You have to be proud of yourself.”
“Rarity is right sugarcube. That was a great play, Ah’ couldn’t have done it better.”
“Now I think we better get some cards girls, let’s do 5 duels against Simon in Free mode and let’s try again shall we?” Twilight suggested.
“Wait what? Why are we on the main menu again?”
“When you lose in campaing mode you get thrown into the main menu losing all unsaved progress, Rainbow.”
“That blows…”
“Well in a certain way you’re right, but we didn’t gain any good cards from our matches, so we didn’t lose anything valuable. So, shall we give it another try?”
They looked at their clocks and nodded in agreement.
“Perfect, now let’s see if we can get a hold on that combination technique.”
The unexpected victory from Fluttershy encouraged them to check their spells to get any possible advantages that their decks could possibly have.
Fluttershy herself was a bit confused, ‘what was that voice? Why did it help me, and why I felt so safe after hearing it?’ were her thoughts.
Even with that in mind, she sighed and decided to wait for her friends so they could continue together in their little adventure.

Chapter 5: Pay back and being oblivious about Heishin at the festival.
Fluttershy cheered while her friends started their little farming, it wasn’t the most exciting thing but it didn’t go off without progress made by them. Twilight wanted to know how to do the combination technique, until Pinkie say “just press up, silly.” The mares face hoofed by the simple yet weird way to start this method of invocation.
The duels passed by fast, and many unsuccessful combinations were made, that didn’t mean they didn’t figure out some of them.
Rainbow had a hard time with them since her deck wasn’t very diverse in types to do a lot of combinations. Not that any of them knew that types and certain traits were the key for most of the combinations in the game.
After the farming was done and some of them got semi decent rewards (Rainbow got Griffore 1200/1500), they went back to the Duel Grounds for a little payback, except for Pinkie she was just at it for the fun.
Inside the Duel Grounds they started their matches, and easily defeated the first two persons, Rarity got a second The Judgment Hand from the second guy. Their duels against the young boy varied in difficulty, with Twilight and Pinkie being the fastest at defeating him, especially Twilight with her discovery of B.Dragon Jungle King’s (2100/1800) combination. Applejack and Rarity defeated him without too much trouble but they took longer, and AJ got Armored Zombie (1500/0) from her match. And finally Rainbow had the hardest time again because her deck had no variety in types.
Keeping their high spirits, they went against the final enemy; somehow their duels were even easier than the last one for some reason, even Rainbow who just got freaking Bean Soldier (1400/1300) as her only combination in that duel. Something they noticed was that as long as they had the control over the duel, their opponents would not do any combination plays.
Anyways after winning against the toughest opponents so far, and after Rainbow did a little victory dance saying “Who’s boss? I’ am!” They made sure that there wasn’t anyone else to duel against, after confirmation they chose to go outside so they could save their progress and maybe do some more free duels against the new opponents.
One selection after, the girl from before came into view and suggested for them to go and check out the festival in town plaza and probably meet Jono in there. With no options in the matter they went with her.
The change in scenery now showed some kind of monument fountain thing, “Wow… there’re lots of people around.” The girl said but only she could be seen in screen.
“Yeah… you have such a big crowd over there,” Rainbow said sarcastically.
“Ooooh… maybe they’re hiding behind the monument to the creepy gods?” Pinkie Pie said, nopony was sure if she mean it that way but who knows.
“Ok… Let’s keep on with the story shall we?” a creeped out Twilight suggested.
Continuing the conversation, they got told about the mages doing some kind of ritual march around the center piece of the monument, they didn’t thought much about it, but the girl said that is was awesome but spooky at the same time.
They all looked at Fluttershy, she shook her head. With a collective shrug they focused back on the screen to see the girl mentioning somepony named Heishin.
“I think Rarity could get along with this Heishin dude. Seems like her kind of company when she’s in Canterlot.”
“I know better than to go along with bitter gossip darling, maybe this pony is actually a decent individual and they’re just taking it the wrong way.”
“Rainbow, Rarity, don’t start a scene please. But I have to agree with Rarity, it’s not fair to judge somepony just by what others say about them.” Twilight added.
“Ah’d like ta be a little wary about nasty rumors though. She seems honest.”
“Let’s wait until we meet Heishin before jumping to conclusions girls, we don’t want previous mistakes are made again do we?”
Twilight heard a collective “Fine” as answer to her question.
Next they saw the girl talking about how it was more wholesome in her infancy and how the attitude of the mages went to worse making her question what happened in her world to become like that.
This made the ponies feel some sympathy for her, as they experienced some bad things over the years. After that, the girl asked if they wanted to go somewhere else, at which even without an option they nodded.
After a screen change, the girl said something about Jono dueling.
The screen changed again from black to an image of a blonde person and one cloaked with its back towards the screen and the blonde one saying “I… I lost…”
Rainbow laughed at him, earning disapproving looks from her friends.
The cloaked figure started his dialogue, and talked down the one in front of him.
“That person is not really nice…” Fluttershy said disapprovingly.
“Yeah, he’s so full of himself.”
“Like ya are one ta talk Rainbow.”
Rainbow deadpanned.
Twilight rolled her eyes.
Pinkie was eating a quesadilla and so on and so on.
Soon after the girl made them know that the blonde person was indeed Jono, and the now annoying cloaked person was still boasting his ego all over them. That was when Teana has she was called by Jono suggested to duel this person in order to shut him up.
The competitive ponies were more than ready to accept this challenge, the more level headed opted for passing this chance to go and save.
The ones who chose to duel, were disappointed because one masked person came and called the smug person to a meeting with Heishin. He set an encounter in the Duel Grounds and said to remember his name which was Seto.
The ones who didn’t want to duel him, got insulted and made fun of, until Jono defended them but in the process he set the duel anyways.
“So, no matter what, we end up dueling Seto anyways? Why do they give you the choice then?” Rainbow asked in confusion.
“Probably to have another motivation, because accepting is standing up for your friend. Refusing gets you insults and your friend defends you, seems a realistic situation.” Twilight explained.
“He could’ve done it without getting us in that nonsensical confrontation, it’s like I don’t appreciate the help of a friend but if I had the choice I would prefer to stay as far as possible from such unrefined individuals.” Rarity said.
“Ah’ don’t know Rarity, he seems quite fancy.”
“Oh please Applejack, don’t be fooled by cheap garments like those.”
AJ wanted to add something to that statement but decided against it.
“Well girls, since we got a duel awaiting us, we should prepare for it. Let’s do some free duels and call it a night, how does that sounds?” Twilight suggested.
“Sure thing, with our new skills we can totally get some awesome cards.”
“Umm… maybe just for a little while, I need to get up early to feed my animals.” Fluttershy said with a yawn.
With that they went to the game menus to farm for some cards before going to sleep.

Chapter 6: beating the servant and comfronting the master.
Author's Note
Would the ponies be able to beat this formidable foe that destroyed their home in a children's card game? Or will the forces of evil beat our heroines? Again, in a children's card game.

Ok, finally after Celestia knows how long this thing has been updated, it's not like it was a priority and the other stories had made better with worse content so I wasn't in a hurry to do this one.
Then again, boredom stroke and I had the time so why not?
Anyways enjoy the thing with that oh so suspenseful ending.
Chapter 6: beating the servant and comfronting the master.
Three days have passed, and the mane six got really invested in the game, not at the point of ignoring other important events on their daily lives, but they got an enjoyable activity to do during the night.
Their farming for cards went a little overboard though; they agreed to do duels until they got a thousand starchips, which are approximately two hundred duels with S ranks or more with lower ranks.
They did this to use a list that Konata send them, the list contained the codes and prices for the cards in game but not the stats. But starchips weren’t the only thing they got with this high amount of duels, they got way better cards in the process and more combinations were learned.
After all the duels were done they all searched for card names that picked their attention, since Twilight decided to go for a water based deck, she bought Aqua Dragon (2250/1900) and it was an excellent choice, because it was a water sea-serpent type dragon which left her with over two hundred starchips but she decided to save those for later.
Applejack was interested in the warrior type monsters, and bought Swordstalker (2000/1600), Swamp Battleguard (1800/1500), and with the rest she picked up something called Millennium Shield. She thought this one wouldn’t be any good just because its cost on the list was of only two hundred starchips, but upon checking its stats any doubt was thrown off the window, it had a plain 0 in attack, but it’s defense was a whooping 3000 making her the owner of the best defense between the six.
Rarity decided she needed some elegancy in her deck, and since she saw a couple of interesting cards during those two hundred duels, she bought Mystical Sand (2100/1700), Dark Elf (2000/800) and Queen of Autumn Leaves (1800/1500), she only had 37 starchips left, but it was worth for stylizing her plays some.
Pinkie got interested in the expensive Bickuribox (2300/2000) somehow she knew what the name meant, but it was a fitting monster for Pinkie, a crazy over the top jack-in-the-box bird clown with a scythe.
Rainbow went for the mountain creatures, for this she bought the field spell Mountain and two monsters, Punished Eagle (2100/1800) and Parrot Dragon (2000/1300).
Finally Fluttershy didn’t went for any monsters, the name Bright Castle picked her interest and when she saw the cute fairy tale book artwork she paid the 800 starchips, this turned out to be way better than expected since this was the second best equip spell in the game, being able to be equipped to any monster without restrictions.
Be noted that none of them knew what the others got with their starchips or their card drops except for Rainbow getting the rare Dark Hole drop that one time, most of the grinding was done outside of their daily sessions.
Konata came to visit them that morning to check if everything was ok with the devices and how much progress they’ve made.
“Hmm, your progress has been rather slow, but then again you went out of your way to get better cards and be better prepared, that requires dedication, I’m glad that you liked the game to this extend, but please don’t overdo it.” Konata glanced at Rainbow for a moment before focusing checking if everything was ok with devices.
“Hey! I noticed that!” Rainbow said undignified.
“Girls, she did play overtime already didn’t she?” Konata asked and the others nodded unanimously.
Rainbow pouted not having any counter argument for that.
“Well, I don’t see anything off on the hardware itself, it’s obvious you have been taking care of it really well, specially Twilight, this sheet is cute…” Konata had to contain herself from laughing out loud.
Twilight was a little embarrassed, “I just had to make sure nothing went into it!”
“Sure you do. Anyways I’ll give you something to help a little, not too much because the game would be too easy otherwise.”
Rainbow rapidly zoomed in, “What are you going to give us?”
“I’ll give you two more copies of any card you used starchips on, so you have the maximum quantity of that card, but only one card.”
Konata accessed to a special save file and used the trade option to give the mane 6 the cards they told her.
Twilight, Pinkie and Fluttershy just used starchips on only one card so that card got tripled.
Rainbow chose Punished Eagle, Applejack chose Swordstalker she considered Millennium Shield for a moment but she wanted more attack power and Rarity chose Mystical Sand.
“Alright everything done,” but something was bothering her after checking the cards, more specifically Fluttershy’s cards, so Konata went to talk to her about it, “Fluttershy I need to talk to you about something, can you come with me for a moment?”
“Umm… I didn’t do something bad didn’t I?” Fluttershy meekly asked.
“Don’t worry is nothing bad, just curious about something.”
“Oh… ok.”
The two left the throne room to talk somewhere else.
“That was odd,” Rainbow said.
“Maybe something was off about Fluttershy’s deck, like some super secret drop technique that gave her a bunch powerful cards and stuff, so Koni saw that and decided to ask herself?” Pinkie said the first thing she had in mind.
“That’s very unlikely Pinkie, I don’t think there’s a way to get very strong cards with the opponents we have unlocked so far outside of starchips, and that would require a lot of duels and all of us did the same amount of duels, I don’t Fluttershy would go overboard to get an edge on us you know how she is. Maybe is something unrelated to the game,” Twilight explained while covering her game station with that cute starry purple sheet she had and teleport it back to her room.
“Yes it’s probably something unrelated; perhaps she seeks advice for a pet?”
“I don’t think she wants to adopt a pet Rarity, I’ve visited their home a couple of times and they have animals everywhere it’s like a zoo there.” Rainbow said from her own experience there.
After a short while Fluttershy returned but she was alone.
“Huh? Where’s Konata, Fluttershy? Did she leave?” Twilight asked wondering what happened, since it was strange for her to leave without saying good bye.
“She got called by Miss Ini to check something it seemed very important, she said she’s sorry for not saying good bye, and wishes us the best of luck with the game.” Fluttershy said.
“ ‘Ah understand if it was an emergency but she could’ve said good bye at least.”
“Girls please, we have to be understanding, things aren’t as quiet in Álfheimr compared to Equestria, they could’ve been in a very busy day today and still she managed to slip out for a bit to check on us.” Twilight said to everypony.
The rest couldn’t disagree with that.
“So, same time tonight?” Rainbow asked.
“Of course, we have to make progress after all, and I think this card boost will let us get farther this time.”
“Yeah! Let’s do it for Koni!” Pinkie shouted and threw a hoof to the sky.
“Yeah!” everypony else said at the same time.
That night the girls prepared for this new play session, everything was set up and everypony loaded their save files.
“Ok! Time to kick that smug flank Seto guy,” Rainbow stated.
“There is no need to be rude Rainbow dear, but I agree that a punishment is at hoof for that individual,” Rarity added.
“Let’s start with this party!” Pinkie just said whatever.
“Alright girls, let’s go to the Duel Grounds that’s the place where the duel was set up.” Twilight said to the rest.
The mares entered the Duel Grounds and found Jono there.
“Geez… who does that mage think he is anyway!? I gotta admit, though… that guy was real tough…” Jono said to them.
“Pfft, yeah right, with my new monsters there’s no way that dude can do anything,” Rainbow bragged.
“ In mah honest opinion ‘Ah have nothing ta worry about, ‘Ah got three monsters from mah starchips and all are very tough too,” AJ said with confidence.
“Pleeease Applejack, such brutes will never surpass the elegancy of a true lady.”
“No offense here Rarity, but ‘Ah don’t see how ‘elegancy’ will do anything on this game.”
“Elegancy is everything darling.”
“Please don’t start again you two,” Twilight told to those two.
“Can we go on?” Rainbow said boringly.
Twilight let out a sigh, “sure…”
Upon advancing the dialog, they saw Jono suggesting a duel before Seto appears and gave them the choice of “Duel” or “Pass.”
“Well, it makes sense he probably wants us to test our abilities with him, so he can be more confident when we duel Seto,” Twilight gave her thoughts.
After thinking it a bit all of them chose to duel, some just out of curiosity and Rainbow Dash because she wanted bragging rights.
“Alright, let’s do it! I may have lost the last game… But I ain’t lost my touch!” Jono said before the duel began.
Adding their new cards the mane 6 started their duel against Jono.
But… it didn’t last long, they breezed through him with no issues what so ever.
“Wow, no wonder he lost, his cards suck.” Rainbow pointed out.
The others rolled their eyes.
“You whipped me! Y’know… you are good!” Jono said after losing.
“I like this guy, he knows when something is awesome.” Rainbow kept on bragging.
“Do me a favor and beat that mage, willya?” was the next line of dialog.
“Umm… I’ll try my best, if that’s ok with you,” Fluttershy spoke for the first time.
“There he is, he’s back.” Jono said before the scene showed Seto entering with two masked persons behind him. “Look at that… He’s got his own groupies… Do me a favor and whip the guy.”
“ ‘Ah can see this Jono fella being good friends with ya Rainbow.” AJ said jokingly.
“Oh, shut up.” Was Rainbow’s response.
“I do not know how good you are… But I hope you will entertain me. I will have you know that I enjoy a good game… Do not disappoint me!” were Seto’s words before the duel.
“It is weird that I see Trixie on him?” Pinkie asked with confusion.
“Now that you mention it… I can see the resemblance between them,” Twilight said after thinking it a little.
“Can we just kick his butt already? I want to see more stuff,” Rainbow said impatiently.
“Sure, let’s demonstrate this show off that we have what it takes to beat him,” after Twilight said this the duels started.
BGM Priest Seto.
The music for this duel was different that the ones they heard before, it had a certain feel of pride in it.
But besides that, the duel wasn’t anything special for any of them.
“All that build up, for this? This guy likes to brag without being even good.” Rainbow said after defeating him.
“You’re right Rainbow, sure he had some good monsters, but he wasn’t even superior to the villagers in any way.” Twilight added her opinion.
“He just wanted to be a meanie pants, and nopony is a meanie pants with my friends!” Pinkie chirped out.
“Mister Jono was obviously exaggerating the size of the problem, but then again such unrefined individuals had no chance of winning against the sheer beauty of my ladies.” Rarity said with an elegant pose.
“It could be that, or the fact that you had a 3000 attack beast in ta field Rares, ‘Ah don’t think ta guy had anything close to that.”
“Who are you calling beast Applejack? My card was beautiful and applied her right to be more effective than some crude looking creature.”
“Rares ya have ugly creatures in yer deck too.”
“Because I have no other options, a true lady knows how to appreciate everypony.”
Applejack groaned, “Oh, forget it.”
“Uuuuh… Fluttershy?” Rainbow called her friend.
“Yes, Rainbow?”
“Where did you got those cards?”
“Umm… I won them, why?”
“What’s happening?” Twilight asked.
“Look at Fluttershy’s field.”
They looked and saw Crimsom Sunbird (2300/1800) Air Eater (2100/1600) Amphibious Bugroth (1850/1300) and Rock Spirit (1650/1900).
“Aren’t those just combinations?” Applejack guessed.
“No, those aren’t, the card count doesn’t add up, that’s nine cards in total, if those were combinations even at a minimum of two cards it would’ve been at least twelve cards.” Twilight explained.
“And Flutters said she won them,” Rainbow added.
“Did you do anything special to get them Fluttershy?”
“I don’t think so… I just played normally,” Fluttershy really couldn’t think of anything special you could have done to get these cards, “Konata also asked me the same thing this morning.”
The rest eyed Pinkie after that.
“What?” she asked.
“Let’s just continue…” Twilight said with no interest in keeping the topic up, because it would be pointless.
And continue they did, after the duel Seto seemed shocked for losing. Just to immediately change back to being smug after figuring something out, and bid them farewell.
Jono started mocking the guy which gave him awesome point according to Rainbow. Teana praised them for being in her own words “too good!” and basically nothing else really happened. Jono asked if they wanted another duel but since they already beat him and it would be easier to spam duels with him in Free Duel, they declined and went to the card shop to save their progress.
“What do we do now? The guys in the Duel Grounds aren’t any good anymore and we have Free Duel for rematches.” Rainbow asked.
“According to the manual we are supposed to go to the Palace,” Twilight said with manual at hoof.
They did even if Rarity still had a grudge against Simon she put it aside for now and went with it.
But that didn’t last long when Simon scold them and send them to their room.
“Wait wait wait, why is this dude giving orders now? Aren’t we supposed to be the Princesses of this place?” Rainbow had a point on this.
“Yeah, ‘tis seems kind of fishy,” Applejack said with mid closed eyes.
Rarity had half of her face covered by a pillow and a very noticeable frown. She didn’t like being treated like that.
“Sometimes I wonder if the princess does this just to annoy me…” was Simon’s next line.
Their unimpressed stares said everything, but the next dialog changed that.
“Lord Simon! We have trouble! The H-high mage Heishin and his men… They wield a strange power… They’re invading the palace!!!” a guard told Simon.
“What!?” Simon said in apparent disbelief according to the music that started playing.
BGM Heishin’s Invasion!
“Told ya Twi, ‘Ah knew that Heishin fella was bad news all along.”
“Not the time Applejack,” Twilight said.
The dialog continued, “I think it’s sorcery, my lord! I’m afraid there’s naught we can do to fend them off…”
“Where’s the High Mage now?” Simon asked the guard.
“In the Palace Hall, my lord!” the guard answered.
The scene changed to Simon looking for Heishin, and the mares then saw the amount of destruction made to the palace.
Fluttershy buried her face in her pillow, with barely one of her eyes looking at the screen, since the other one was covered by her mane.
“Wha… What the…” Simon said in total shock, which was mirrored by the mares.
Then a familiar face appeared.
“Hey is that happy person from the start of the game! Maybe he’s here to help catch those party poopers!” Pinkie said excitedly.
Her friends got the opposite feeling, and this was confirmed when Simon called this person Heishin.
After a heated argument, Heishin pulled out a rod with which he was able to wield the power of darkness, making the whole place shake.
“Well, that escalated quickly,” Rainbow said.
After that a servant suggested to escape from the palace for their safety. But soon after, they got caught by another familiar face.
BGM Seto’s Betrayal.
“Oh, what a surprise Rainbow Dash’s clone was a bad guy too, ‘Ah have no words.” Applejack commented.
“Hey!”
“Girls please focus, there has to be a way to turn the tables on this situation.” Twilight said while paying close attention to the dialog.
Seto’s followers took the servant away, at which Seto proceeded to ask them for the location of the “Millennium Item” that only royal blood knew about, or else they will kill the King and Queen, then the game gave them the choice to Refuse or Tell.
“Buck him, I’m telling anything to him.” Rainbow blatantly expressed her refusal.
“But Rainbow, they’re going to kill the King and Queen don’t you have any sympathy for them?” Twilight rose a valid point.
“ ‘Ahm with Twilight here, how can ya abandon yer parents like that?”
“I know the feeling Applejack and it’s not an enjoyable one, but think about it for a moment, these ruffians invade my Palace and hold my servants and parents as hostages. Besides that, it has been shown to us that this person is not trustworthy, what makes you think they’ll keep their word?”
“Rarity has a point here, and beyond all that if we tell him, they win and we lose.I still refuse to tell him, because I believe I can save them before they do anything. Yeah, the situation sucks but if we give up then their effort would be in vain, and I not letting that get to waste girls, no way!”
“Well, I have no argument for that, so…” Twilight said and everypony nodded in unison and chose refuse.
After that Simon appeared carrying the “Millennium Item” which was a golden pyramid with an eye in the middle.
He told them to take it and run.
They also got told that this item was the key to unleash a great power that could cause the end of the world if it were to fall in bad hooves. Seto tried to bribe them into giving the item to him to have chance of escaping but at this points the mares didn’t believe him at all.
Then the choices of Run and Stay appeared.
“I’m going to stay; I mean we beat that loser Seto before so we should be able to do it again if we need to, right?” Rainbow said.
But even after choosing to stay various times, Simon told them to run.
“Come on! Why do they give you the choice if it does nothing!?”
“I know what you mean Rainbow, but there’s nothing we can do about it, we can just proceed with the story.”
“Twilight is right, but it still feels bad, ‘Ah mean he wasn’t the best character in this but seeing him in that state is depressing.”
They chose to run, because they had no other options left.
BGM Heishin’s Invasion.
But they didn’t got too far before Heishin appeared in their faces.
“You didn’t think you’d escape me, did you?” Heishin told them.
“It crossed mah mind for a second, ya don’t see pretty smart.” Applejack said.
“Admit your defeat and over the Millennium Item,” Heishin ordered them.
“Yeah, no. Screw that noise you freak.” Rainbow responded with hostility.
Then Simon told them that the only option would be to beat Heishin in a duel.
Theywere given the option to Duel or Pass.
“I don’t think we pass in this situation, there’s just too much at risk,” Twilight said after processing everything that happened until this point.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s kick his butt like we did with his loser servant.”
“I don’t appreciate such fool language but I agree that my palace need to be cleaned from this filth at once.”
“Umm… he looks scary.”
“Oh don’t worry Fluttershy, what’s the worse that can happen? It’s not like he’s a super boss or anything.”
“Now ya just had ta go and say it Pinkie, ain’t cha?”
“A wasted effort pony, you lack the power to defeat me,” was the last thing Heishin said to them before going to deck preparation screen.
The tension was present in the air, but they would not give up now, they believe they could surpass this big obstacle, could it be foolish ego or they could actually have a plan to make this possible?

Chapter 7: Five loses, Fluttershy's accomplishment and going to the present time.
The mares were nervous; the whole chain of events was stressful for them, well except for Pinkie she was just playing along for the fun of it.
“Twi, why don’t you make the honors? You’re the leader and all that.” Rainbow said.
Twilight was nervous, the confidence she had before banished, Heishin was a threatening being even for her, and something made her think this wasn’t a normal game.
“I-I would love to, but I want to let you have this one Rainbow. I mean, you can totally beat him right?” Twilight fired back.
“Sure thing! I can wipe the floor with this dude, it’s just that I want somepony else to feel victory for once. I’m awesome like that.” Rainbow’s voice cracked slightly a few times.
“This is getting ridiculous, being afraid of a game like some scared filly, you should be ashamed,” Rarity spoke up.
“Why don’t ya do it then Rares? Shows us the way to be as brave as ya,” Applejack suggested.
“Umm… why don’t we just go at the same time?” Fluttershy asked.
“Yeah everypony, let’s do it! We’ll be just fineeeee,” Pinkie reassured.
The others looked at each other for a moment before sighing in defeat and getting some of their confidence back, and went to the duel. It can’t be that bad right?
BGM Heishin
The game field started as dark type field from the start, and the music that played on this duel gave them a chilling sensation.
Twilight started with an average hoof; with no hesitation she combined Mystical Sand (2100/1700) in hopes of it to be enough. Any hope got shattered as soon as Heishin used one of his cards and attacked revealing his monster which was Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth (3500/3000) the duel just went downhill from there, she combined more cards but none of them were strong enough. She at least managed to scratch Heishin’s life points with an attack to Heishin’s second monster Cosmo Queen (2900/2450. 3400/2950 due to dark field) with Summoned Skull’s combination (2500/1200. 3000/1700 with dark field) and its guardian star advantage, but the duel was already lost.
She had no words for what just happened; her mane was all over the place.
In Applejack’s duel it began basically the same with the same combined monster from her part, but it was destroyed by Meteor B. Dragon (3500/2000). She wasn’t able to do anything either, even when she attacked the monster that Heishin weirdly put in defense position, it was still too powerful it being Wall Shadow (1600/3000). She lost soon after against the dragon and Zoa (2600/1900. 3100/2400 with dark field).
“What intarnation?” she said in disbelief.
Rarity’s duel was different, she started setting Raigeki on the field, but it got quickly destroyed by Heishin’s Harpie’s Feather Duster, then Rarity summoned a monster without combining and attacked, this was destroyed by Heishin’s first monster Gaia the Dragon Champion (2600/2100). This was when Rarity combined Twin Headed Thunder Dragon (2800/2100) using three cards from her hoof and defeated Gaia. Rarity was able to control the duel for a while even got Heishin down to 1250 life points.
“Ha! Serves you right, you ruffian.” She said.
But her early celebration was cut short by Zera the Mant (2800/2300. 3300/2800 with dark field) and went downhill from there. After that she wasn’t able to outmatch Heishin’s monster and lost.
Her shocked expression said everything, if it weren’t for that dark field Rarity would’ve won but she didn’t knew that, she was petrified with shock.
Rainbow’s duel was massacre, her deck was clearly the worst between them, and with this in consideration Heishin didn’t even need to use his strongest monsters and to rub salt in the wound, he defeated her by using Tremendous Fire (Deal 1000 damage to the opponent).
“No way…” she said in a quiet tone before going up in volume “What the hay was that!?”
Pinkie got quickly wiped out by Heishin, but it was like she knew she couldn’t win and made it out as quickly as possible.
“Oh, well! You win this time mister meanie! But I’ll be back better, stronger and pinkier!” She said while kneeling in her bed in a way that ponies shouldn’t be able to.
“That’s not a word Pinkie,” Twilight corrected from her messy area.
The others noticed Twilight’s messy mane.
“Woah, are you alright there Twilight?” Rainbow asked after hitting a night lamp with a pillow she angrily threw, fortunately the lamp didn’t fall.
“Yes, I’m ok. I just wasn’t expecting something like this to happen, it doesn’t make any sense!” Twilight was trying her hardest to make sense of this.
Pinkie was looking at something and had a smile that was growing every second.
“Ya don’t look ok sugarcube, maybe ya should-“ then something was ringing Applejack’s ear, it was the victory tune. “Is that?”
Everypony hear it too.
Then a quiet “yay” was heard, everypony turned to see the only one who was that quiet, Fluttershy. Upon looking at her screen they saw the victory screen with a C rank two strachips and Nekogal #2 (1900/2000) has rewards.
Pinkie suddenly appeared in Fluttershy’s room and hugged her, “you did it! You beat the big meanie!”
“What!?” the others shouted.
“How? What did you do!? I don’t get it!” Twilight was even more confused now.
“That’s easy silly, Fluttershy just took advantage of the dark scary field to power up her thingies and used equip cards to beat the big moth thing, and the boney dragon thing, and all that weird things the big meanie had.” Pinkie explained.
“I’m so beating this guy the next time,” Rainbow said dryly.
“Well, at least we can see what happens next,” Twilight composed a bit and was curious to see what happens next.
To their surprise Heishin just challenges Fluttershy again.
This time they actually saw how the duel went, and yet again Heishin attacked with Black Skull Dragon (3200/2500) but Fluttershy had one Bright Castle in her hoof, and took control of the duel by combining Twin Headed Thunder Dragon and equipping it with Bright Castle, and won the duel again from that point. This time the reward was Monstruous Bird (2000/1900).
“Whoa, this guy gives some tough stuff, but it still is weaker than any of what he has, that’s so unfair!” Rainbow complained.
But then Heishin challenged her again.
“This Heishin fella doesn’t want ta give up,” Applejack pointed out.
Twilight being calm but with a messy mane, thought about it for a moment, then an idea came to her, “I think this is a plot device.”
“A what?” Rainbow asked.
“A plot device, it’s something you use to make the story go forward, in this case it seems that the creators of the game threw this person against us because they wanted us to lose. This worked for most of us, but Fluttershy managed to get strong enough to beat him, and it seems there was no other route coded into the story to follow in case of victory, so they opted for the simplest way, a loop. The duel will be executed until the player loses, then the story should go as planned.”
“In equestrian please, not all of us are egghead level,” Rainbow said even more confused after Twilight’s explanation.
Twilight groaned, “If you win, you get stuck. If you lose, you advance.”
Meanwhile Fluttershy won another couple of times, but eventually lost due to a bad hoof. She didn’t go down without getting something useful thought; she managed to get Serpent Night Dragon (2350/2400) Gaia the Fierce Knight (2300/2100) and Rose Spectre of Dunn (2000/1800) before losing.
“So we aren’t forced to beat this guy to continue?”
“No, Rainbow we don’t have to beat him to continue,” Twilight kind of tired already.
Seeing that no game over popped up after losing, they went ahead with the story.
Heishin said they were a waste of time and he will tear the Millennium Item from their lifeless bodies.
“I’m so going to kick this dude’s butt the next time, he’s annoying,” Rainbow said the others agreed.
But before Heishin could do anything Simon stopped him and told them to shatter the item so Heishin wouldn’t get it.
“That doesn’t make any sense, what’s stopping them from assembling the thing again?” Rainbow asked.
“Well duh, it’s because magic Dashie!” Pinkie answered.
Continuing forward with the story, the saw Simon again but this time in a maze-like area and he wasn’t injured anymore.
Told them that their souls were trapped in the puzzle, and that it was the only way he had to save them and the puzzle from falling in Heishin’s hands. Then they have to wait for the next person able to put the puzzle together and that person would help them get back to their world.
“What Simon said makes sense in this context; he probably used a spell to get us inside the puzzle and teleport the pieces to a safe place somepony else is able to assemble it again and cancel the spell, or that’s my theory at least.” Twilight told her thoughts to the rest.
Something curious happened in the next part, another character called them by their names, not the in-game names they chose but their actual names. In Rarity’s case it was the same name though.
The character in question was Jono again but he looked different in fact everything looked different, more modernized.
He mentioned a tournament being held that day and they were between the contestants, the tournament was being hosted by somepony named Kaiba which was a familiar face once again when he appeared on screen.
“Hey is that loser Seto, he teleported too?” Rainbow was quite tired of this person.
“Well, he introduced himself as a mage, so I suppose?” Twilight was just guessing.
“ ‘Ah don’t think so, Jono is here as well and he ain’t no mage, it’s probably somepony that lookslike them.”
In their little discussion they didn’t paid attention to the dialog in the game, not that it matters since it only said details of the tournament that hold no significance whatsoever.
Then they found Teana, in a shop. She told them that she was working mid-time in the shop during the tournament, after that the same option that were on the card shop appeared.
“Oh, this is our checkpoint,” Twilight let out a tired sigh, “finally, this was very stressful. I suggest stopping here for tonight and continuing tomorrow.”
“I agree dear, this wasn’t the most enjoyable session, a well deserved rest is in order.”
“I’ll see if any of the new guys gives something useful, I want that rematch with this cheater Heishin and I’ll beat him when that happens.” Rainbow told them.
“It’s ok, but like Konata said to us this morning don’t overdo it Rainbow, she would feel bad if gets to know you’re doing that, so please be careful.” Fluttershy was a little worried.
“OK, ok. I’ll just be playing a little more.”
“Alright, let’s save the game girls and get it done for tonight,” Twilight said.
Everypony saved and to bed for the night, they needed the rest after this “experience.” Rainbow went a played for another hour instead.
