The Evil Begins
I could feel a weird sensation in my head as I slept. I was having another nightmare in which I saw a dark and tall figure saying to me, "Join me Spike."
Again, like any other night that this dream ocurred... I woke up in a cold sweat screaming. The weird thing was, the figure was not menacing to me, and instead had a kind of calming effect to it. It was still nightime and my sensless and horrifying screams obviously woke up who I saw as my mom, Twilight Sparkle. She immediately rushed to where I was and said to me in a concerned/scared voice, "Spike, what's wrong! Are you okay?"
Like all the other times that this happened before I said as if on command, "Nothing Twilight, just another bad dream. I can handle it, I'm a big dragon now.... now go back to bed."
The purple unicorn nodded back to me and trotted back to her bed. I elicited a sigh of relief as I sat down on the ground and thought about what the figure was saying to me in my dreams. "Join me Spike." I said to myself. "What the hell did it mean by that?"
Regardless of what it meant, I could not sleep anymore and decided to take a walk outside of the library. The door opened silently for me as I slowly closed it. I then felt a weird presence coming from the Everfree Forest, like something was beckoning me to come into the area only known for darkness. Against my better judgement, my "dragon senses" got the best of me and I ventured into the forest. After what seemed like many hours of walking, I came across what looked to be ruins of a castle from long ago. I stared in awe at the large, eroded structure and continued to walk towards it. Once I reached one of the massive walls I sat down and said to myself, "How could something like this be here, it's so magnificent... and this place is so dark."
-Unknown to me though, was that I would be getting an unexpected visit from someone that I never knew, but in a sense did.-
mysterious and deep voice than came somewhere from the side of me and said, "Yes it is pretty magnificent isn't it Spike?"
My blood ran cold as my name was called out by the voice and I said in a scared tone, "How do you know my name?"
A sound of walking was heard until it stopped right next to me and the hooded figure kneeled down on one knee and removed the hood upon his head and said, "I wouldn't be a good big brother if I didn't remember my only and little brother's name would I?"
I looked up at the tall dragon that eerily walked on two legs like me and was the same purple and green color and said, "I have an older brother?"
He stared at me with a look of shock and said, "Yes Spike, sorry if I scared you. I forgot that you never knew me because you were taken before you even hatched... my name is Damien and I'm your older brother Spike."
I was both shocked and overjoyed at this revelation as I asked, "So you were the one calling me and asking me to join you in my dreams?"
He answered, "Yes, sorry if I gave you a scare but I wanted to let you know that we are the only one's left in our family... do you want to know what really happened to our parents Spike?"
"Yes I would Damien, but not right now. I have to get back to Ponyville before Twilight flips out that I'm gone, do you want to come with me?" I asked.
Damien gave a malicious inward smirk to himself and said, "Sure Spike, let's go."
Inwardly though Damien was thinking to himself, "My little brother Spike is going to flip out when I tell him what happened to our parents, He will finally understand... and I will take my little brother back from the grasp of these ponies. He will be my apprentice, and will become evil in due time."
We both walked side by side like we had always known eachother through the Everfree Forest. Oddly, I felt at home with my brother Damien. It was a feeling that I had never had when I was around any of the ponies... was this a sense of belonging? My brother noticed me deep in thought due to my puzzled look and asked me, "Spike, is everything okay with you?"
"Yeah, everything is okay Damien. I'm just taking all of this in slowly. Finding out that I had an older brother came as a shocker, especially since I got approached by you in the dead of the night. In fact, how do I even know that you are my real brother, and not some imposter?" I asked with a puzzled look.
Damien sighed and lifted up his arm revealing a strange mark written in the dragon tongue and said," look under your arm and you will see that I really am your brother."
I lifted my arm up, and sure enough, I had the same mark that he did and I finally knew that this man standing before me was my own flesh and blood, sending a warm rush of happiness into my body. Ponyville then came into view as I stated, " Well, looks like we are almost here. You know what Damien?" I asked after my statement of location.
"What Spike?" he asked with a brotherly grin.
"Let's not go back to the library. I want to give Twilight a scare." I said with a grin.
Damien let out a hearty, yet quiet laugh and asked, "So I take it that this Twilight has been your caretaker all these years?"
I responded, "That's correct, I viewed her as my mom for quite some time... and she is quite the egghead."
"Well, that's nice to hear, but she wil never be able to replace our real mother who you could not meet because of the fact that she is gone... and I will tell you that story later." Damien said with a hint of sorrow in his voice.
I looked up at my big brother and to the horizon. Celestia's sun was just beginning to peak over the horizon and I knew Twilight would be getting up shortly. What she would wake up to though would be a shock to her and every other pony because I would not be there. Instead, I would be with my brother Damien.
I looked at Damien before the sun finally peaked and said, "Hey, do you think that you could be my guardian someday?"
He looked at me with a sense of pride at my statement and responded, "Of course Spike. We're the only real family that we both have left. We are the draconic brothers."
Hey. E. Shadows here... and that was the first chapter of the story "The Evil Within". We now know that Spike has a brother who is seemingly evil and obviously has plans for his little brother.... but what? Next chapter: "Two draconic brothers in ponyville! The sun finally rose into the sky, a single ray coming through the window of Twilight's bedroom. She slowly awoke as the warmth and glimmer of the sun hit her face. Her eyes fluttered open as she got up and out of her bed, ready to start a new day. What she did not know was that she was about to wake up to a shocking discovery.
"Spike, it's time to wake up!" She exclaimed throughout the library that doubled as a house.
Her call went unanswered as the annoyed purple mare again called out, "Spike... Come on, I thought we got over this waking up buisness years ago!"
Again her statement went unanswered which caused Twilight to rush into my room, and what she found almost made her faint from fear. She realized that I wasn't there and was no where to be found which made her go into a frantic state of mind.
She stated in an erratic voice, "Oh my gosh, he's not here! Where can he be!"
Twilight then rushed out of the library and went to go get somepony to help her find her missing dragon, aka me. Little did she know that I was outside of the library hanging out with Damien, my recently discovered older brother, and laughing at Twilight's dilema which we witnessed through the window.
I then turned to Damien and stated, "I told you she would overreact! I'm in for it now when she finds me."
Damien chuckled at my statement and said, "Don't worry Spike, getting into trouble is fun. Makes your more of a badass if you ask me."
"How can getting in trouble be fun Damien?" I asked with a confused look on my face.
"I really don't have a clue brother, honestly it may just be because these ponies are fun to screw around with." He answered.
"I can drink to that!" I exclaimed.
At this statement Damien couldn't help but laugh as he exclaimed, "Looks like you inherited our old man's sense of humor!"
I then felt that familiar warm feeling wash over me for the second time, the first being when I found out Damien was my older brother, and sighed thinking to myself, "Even though I did not know my real parents, I feel so sad. I got used to thinking that these ponies were my family, but after meeting Damien... I now know that I was apart of something way better, but this was taken from me."
I gave Damien a saddened look as I said, "Damien, I'm so glad you found me. I'm so glad that I actually have a real family. Twilight and her friends were good for some time, and don't get me wrong, they still are.... but knowing and being with the last member of my "real" family somehow makes me feel complete."
Tears then started to stream down my eyes and I cried which has not happened in Celestia knows how long. Damien saw me cry and gave me a hug only a brother could give and he stated, "It's okay little brother, I'm here... and I promise that as long as I'm on this Earth and breathing, I will work to mold you into an image mom and dad would have wanted."
I sighed and got up along with Damien and started to go and follow Twilight. I smiled and said, "This way, I can introduce you to Twilight and all of her good friends!"
Damien smiled at me but was inwardly hatching an infernal plot as he thought,"Spike, you really are naive. You are perfect for becoming my apprentice because your mind is so moldable, vulnerable, and easily changed. You and I will avenge what happened to our parents. I will do whatever it takes to change you into one who does not care and is evil like me. I will only do this when the time is right though, for now my facade stands."
I walked side by side with Damien in a similar fashion as back in the Everfree forest. We were following Twilight as well as getting really funny looks from various ponies around the town. It was rather comical because both I and Damien looked exactly the same except for the fact that he was taller, muscular, and looked menacing.
We both heard a pony say, "Is that Spike... I thought he was missing. Looks like he is with another dragon that ls exactly like him..."
I then exclaime back at the pony who made the remark and said, "I"m flattered that you think I look like my older brother!"
The same pony then said, "Wait a second, that is Spike... older brother...? What?"
I laughed along with Damien at the confused pony and continued to stroll down he road. Finally we stopped as we noticed Twilight in the distance along with five of her closest friends which included Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity. I looked up at Damien who said, "Should we continue?"
I gave a slight nod as we continued to walk towards Twilight and her group of friends. The closer we got, the more of the conversation we picked up and it went like this.
Twilight said frantically, "Have any of you ponies seen Spike anywhere?"
"Nope." They all stated one by one.
Twilight then responded with, "Oh my gosh, I need to find him. What if he's hurt or worse!"
Applejack trotted up to Twilight and said in a comforting tone, "Don't worry, we will help you find him."
"Yeah! I wouldn't be loyal if I didn't help you find Spike! exclaimed Rainbow Dash.
Both I and Damien were hiding in a bush close to them now as I whispered to him,"Scare time?"
"Go for it little bro." He responded with.
I gave him a thumbs up and jumped out of the bushes exclaiming, "I'm Spike The Dragon, and I'm in the mother fucking house!"
The mares all screamed as I laughed and said, "Well, I got you ponies... got to tell you though, it was worth it."
Twilight then gave me her death glare and said to me in an angry voice, "Who do you think you are Spike. The fact that you were gone almost gave me a heart attack!"
Pinkie Pie then jumped in front of her and asked, "Where were you Spike."
I simply said, "I was in the Everfree forest last night if you really want to know so bad."
Rarity looked at me with shock and stated, "Darling why were you in that dastardly place, you could of gotten hurt."
I sighed and decided to introduce my brother saying, "I could of gotten hurt, but it would of been worth it for what i found..."
"What exactly did you find?" asked Twilight.
I signaled to the bush and a rathe large and muscular dragon that looked exactly like me walked out and stated, "Hello ponies, my name is Damien and I'm Spike's older and only brother."
Chapter 2 took me some time to get out... but it was worth it." Looks like we got more of a glimpse of Damien's plan for Spike. Next chapter will come out within he next week. Chapter 3: "An unexpected meeting... The Mane Six meet Damien."

An Unexpected Meeting: Damien Meets the Mane Six!
I stared at the six ponies in front of me while pointing to my brother Damien. I was smiling for the first time in ages as I stated, "Well, this is my brother Damien."
Damien smiled and stated in his deep voice, "Hello, as Spike said... I'm Damien."
Twilight then said in a unsure voice, "Spike, how the heck can you have a brother. I thought that you didn't have a family."
"Oh Twilight that's what I thought too until I met him in the Everfree yesterday... we are in fact brother's, and I get along with him so well." I answered.
Damien laughed and stated, "Yeah we do get along Ms. Sparkle and I can see you have doubts that I'm his brother."
"Well, it just doesn't seem too believable." answered Twilight in response to Damien's statement.
I nodded to Damien and he nodded back as we both lifted our right arms, revealing the draconic marking on our sides that proved our brotherhood. The mares just looked in shock at the two of us together because they always thought of me as an orphan child.
"Well, I'm going to go and hang out with Damien some more... you ponies should really lighten up. You ponies worry too much about me." I said with a smirk.
I then turned on my heels and started to walk the other way followed by Damien.
Twilight then exclaimed at me before I got too far away, "Spike, where do you think you're going! We have work to do and I don't like to keep Celestia waiting!"
I turned my head to look at the purple pony and my rage that has been dormant for so long finally spilled over as I irrationally said with angry look on my face, "Let the bitch wait... I got better things to do."
Pinkie Pie then started to laugh uncontrollaly at the now shocked Twilight Sparkle and exclaimed, "You just got burned Twilight hahaha!"
Rainbow Dash also heard my statement and got a little angry because of how I referred to Celestia as a "bitch". She yelled at me and said, "Spike, you don't talk about the princess in that way!"
I decided to add further fuel to the metaphorical fire I created and replied, "Why not... I have my rights."
I guess that pushed her over the edge as she came flying after me and Damien said to me, "Dude, we need to get the fuck out of here."
I nodded and exclaimd, "Oh shit, you're right! Run!"
I don't know how, but we managed to escape Rainbow Dash's wrath by hiding behind a building with an overhang. My brother and I then both looked at eachother and started to laugh. I gave him a high five as Damien said, "Spike, that was bad ass."
I smirked and replied, "Yeah it was, wasn't it. It honestly felt so good to do that."
Damien smiled but inside was saying, "Wow, he is progressing faster than I thought... soon he will know the truth."
We then continued to walk around town discussing various topics from dragon history to my endeavors with the ponies and to say the least it was kind of fun. I don't know how Twilight and her friends would be reacting right now to my behavior this morning though.
"What has come over Spike?" asked a confused Twilight Sparkle to her five friends.
"I can tell you one thing, when I see him again... him and his brother are going to get a beat down!" exclaimed Rainbow Dash.
"Spike really seems different... more sinister." Fluttershy answered in a quiet voice.
"I can tell you one thing Twi, ai' think that it has something to do with that brother of his." Applejack said to her friend.
"Well, whatever it is we need to find out." stated Twilight as they all trotted away.
I was daydreaming... I had to have been because as I sat next to my brother I saw our parents standing before us, telling us how proud they were of us two. I actually started to cry, as painful and hot tears slid down my scaly face, staining the ground. Damien took notice to this and asked in a brotherly tone, "Spike, what's the matter?"
"I had to be daydreaming because I saw Mom and Dad sitting in front of us, telling us how proud they were." I stated with a hurt look.
"Spike, I think it is time that I tell you what happened to our parents... it may come as a shock to you, but it is neccessary to tell you now. Promise me one thing though." stated Damien in a serious tone.
"What Damien?" I asked.
"When you hear this story, try and keep your cool until the time is right." he answered.
I nodded my head and Damien then took his clawed hand and touced my draconic mark and touched his. They started to slightly glow and I felt like I was falling into an endless abyss. I then landed face first onto a rocky surface, and as I looked up Damien was standing right next to me and helped me up.
"What just happened and where are we?" I questioned.
"Well, you just experienced a phenomenon in which I shared my memories with you, this is one of those memories that we are in. Why tell you the story when you can see it for yourself." stated Damien in a cold tone.
I nodded my head and followed Damien up a rocky path that led to the top of a rather large mountain. Once we reached the top of the mountain I gasped at what I saw. What I saw was a war... and it was between ponies and dragons.
"When did this happen?" I asked in a shocked voice.
Damien laughed maniacally and said, "Those evil ponies did this about 18 years ago before you were born... apparently they wanted to assert their dominance over all the inhabitants of Equestria."
"That still doesn't answer what happened to mom and dad though." I added.
"Oh, that's an easy one... the ponies that you had called friends for so long... they killed our parents.They took you while you were an egg too, luckily I escaped before anything happened to me." Damien stated in an extremely angry and malicious voice.
I couldn't hold back the emotions that were pooling inside of me. The ponies that I had once thought as friends... they did this. I literally lost it and roared like a true dragon but then I thought of something that didn't add up.
"Damien, if it happened 18 years ago... then wouldn't the ponies know about what happened?" I asked questioningly.
"Good question Spike. Apparently the princesses didn't want anypony to remember about this atrocity committed against our kind and performed a mind-wipe spell. This spell was so powerful that it wiped all the minds of the citizens of Equestria including the dragons... but I managed to evade this spell. I want revenge against these ponies, and I want you to help me."
Damien said in an evil voice.
"Wait a second, I know that you said the ponies killed our parents... and wiped the minds of all except you, but where's the proof Damien? It seems all you have been telling me is implied things that you think I should know, how do I know you aren't lying about everything?" I asked with a look of realization on my face.
Damien looked surprised at what I said but shook his head and said, "So you want to see our parents getting slaughtered? So be it."
He snapped his fingers which seemed to alter the surrounding area. We were then both standing in the site of a literal war. Dragon and ponies were literally going at it. Blood was staining the land and Damien pointed to two dragons that looked oddly like us.
"Too prove my point on them being killed, watch as our only two parents that we have ever known get slaughtered like dogs." my brother stated with malice.
I looked to them and saw the, fighting valiatly against the onslaught of Equestria soldiers attacking them, it made me proud to know I was their son. A bright flash of light was then seen as Celestia in all her glory came out into the battle field, confronting them.
We both heard her booming voice state, "Dragons, you have fought valiantly. Surrender know and give us what we came for and you will be spared."
A blast of fire was blown at her which she narrowly dodged and one of our parents, most likely our father, exclaimd, "Never, we would rather die than surrender to your tranny!"
"So be it..." Celestia concluded as her horn glowed and the power of the sun was unleashed upon them both.
They seemed to have accepted their fates as they were both obliterated in the blast.... executed like they meant nothing.
Now I knew Damien wasn't just making up fallacies and everything he said was actually true.
"You were right Damien, They were killed by that monster.... I can't believe what I have just witnessed. I wish to leave now."
Damien nodded and the surrounding landscape started to shift and change.
The memory then started to fade away as we both exited the recreated memory. Damien then said, "Do not reveal anything of what you just saw or anything about our plans until we meet the princesses... keep the exact composure that you have on now until otherwise.... but I have a feeling that the one known as Twilight will be able to see through it... she has known you for far too long. I have a feelng she will be suspicious of the bullshit you are feeding them... the same with the others except for Pinkie Pie... that mare is an idiot."
I gave a slight nod and got up off the ground, somehow it seemed that she and the others would see through my facade because they knew me way more than Damien thought he did. It seemed that a simple facade wouldn't be enough to fool Twilight or her friends... I had to do something different, I needed to get help from an outside source.
"Hey Damien, if I wanted to make a seperate personality that could feel the analytical Twilight Sparkle, how would I go about doing it?" I asked with interest.
"I don't have all the answers my friend, that is something you have to figure out by yourself... you have time though, these plans take time to come into fruitation." Damien responded.
I gained trust for my brother that day as I felt satisfied with what I had learned. Turning, we both began to start walking until a familiar voice was heard which said, "I see them! Spike and Damien are straight ahead of us!"
Thinking to myself, "Hopefully I can pull this off and keep Twilight and the others from being suspicious of me until I can actually gain a new personality somehow."
The sound of hoovesteps coming towards the both of us made Damien whisper to me, "Keep it together or everything will fall apart right here and now."
I nodded and waited for the girls to confront us, this was going to be very hard to pull off, but I had to do it for the sake of my brother.
I give a big thank you to all my fans who have favorited and liked this story. You are truly my inspiration for continuing this fic. This chapter is where the story starts to transistion into more of a grimdark story... but their will be no senseless killings that will occur. Honestly, this story will continue to be geniune and will chronicle Spike's decent to the dark side. Next chapter: "Spike joins Damien"
Spike Joins Damien!
I looked over to the source of the noise and shook my head saying, "They just don't give up do they Damien?"
He looked over at the ponies walking towards us and answered, "It seems so Spike. Just remember, keep your cool until the time is right."
Instead of walking in the opposite direction of the ponies coming towards us we simply stayed right where we were until I heard the same voice that had spotted us saying, "Spike... You and your brother are going to get yours for what you said about the princess!"
I smiled at this and walked towards them saying, "Rainbow Dash... You still havn't learned to let things go have you?"
I could see how my statement made her a little flustered as she responded in an angry voice, "I am the element of loyalty, and I will never let thing go that test my loyalty towards anything... especially the princesses!"
All I could do was shake my head and sigh. My brain then seemed to become a little clouded with the darkness I had just aquired, after learning the fate of my parents, and stated in a maniacal voice while pointing to Damien, "Okay my dear, if you put it that way then I am loyal to my brother... the man who saved me and opened my eyes."
The mares stared at me dumbfounded at what I had just said. It seemed that my actions blatantly went against everything "the old me" stood for and what the princesses wanted me to think. I could see the horrified looks that they all had in their large eyes and I laughed. This laugh wasn't normal though and was maniacal in nature.
Twilight then had tears welling up in her eyes as she chocked out these few words, "Spike... what are you doing?"
I was about to say something else until Damien coughed and put out a clawed hand to his throat. He then swiped it across which meant "Not yet" to me.
I nodded to him and stopped talking. Damien smiled at how I controlled myself, not revealing our plans too early.
He then nodded as I changed my demeanor quickly and stated, "What the heck, what happened?"
Pinkie Pie then hopped on over to us and stopped in front of me saying, "You weren't acting like yourself silly, but apparently everything changed back to normal."
I nodded, trying to play stupid, and apparently it worked on the ones I have been calling "friends" for years.
I then looked at all the elements and said in a apologetic tone, "I'm truly sorry for all of this, whatever I did, please forgive me."
Everypony looked at me then a happy Rarity said, "We forgive you darling, who can stay mad at you?"
Smiling, I walked over to the ponies and gave them all a hug. I had to fake the facade and apparently I was doing a pretty damn good job at it. We then all started walking back to what we were doing before the fiasco as I fell back next to Damien.
He gave me a thumbs up and said, "Spike, you are doing better than expected. You kept that facade up like a champ and even played stupid. You fooled the element of honesty for Celestia's sake."
Shrugging I replied, "I learned from the best... and I will try to get a meeting with the princesses for us to start our plans."
Damien laughed and said, "You give me too much credit Spike, and that would be excellent... imagine the looks on their faces when they find out you and I are evil hahaha!"
I laughed along with him as we continued walking down the cobblestone path towards the library in which I had lived in for many years. From there on out I had officially joined my brother Damien's side... but nopony knew it yet.
-Sorry about the short chapter. But, this chapter is a prelude to a much larger chapter which would obviously be chapter five. This chapter was created for the sole purpose of officially showing Spike joining Damien's side aka joining the dark side. Until then.... Next Chapter: The Plans are Revealed... Spike Shocks All!
