Hardened Soldier to Loving Father
I stare at the two snoozing foals wondering how exactly they got here, and how exactly did I get here? Many questions run through my unstable mind, but quickly shake my head to rid all of the madness going on in my head. I take some deep breaths to relax myself and not jump the gun. Once I finish my breathing exercises I quietly walk up to the foals. I take a knee and grab the note that has my name written on it. Seeing the note with my name on it was really off putting for me, but I’ll let is slide by for now. I let my helmet retract itself back so I can read the letter better and since the air is breathable here I can at least get a breather. I open the note and being to read it mentally.
To the one named Nathan Jr. Reyes,
Hello Mr. Reyes, it is a pleasure to be writing to you. I am who they call Faust, the mother of this world and also the mother of two princesses that reside here in this world called Equis.
You must be wondering how you got here and why there are two new-borns with you at the moment, well to put it bluntly, I brought you here with the help of magic.
“Magic?” I whispered questioningly. “That’s impossible. Magic isn’t real.” I said. Then I continue reading the note again.
If your thinking about magic being unreal or impossible then you’re dead wrong. Anyways back to the main topic at hand, like I was saying before, you were brought here to help these foals. I want you to raise them like if they were your own flesh and blood. I brought these two to you because they were left alone with no one to raise them. So please Mr. Reyes, find it in your heart to raise these two, if not then find someone who will. But if you do choose to raise them yourself, then I know I chose the right pony to care for these foals.
Now since I explained everything to you about how you got here and your objective to do, I have a few more things to tell you. Now don’t be frightened about your appearance, it was necessary to change your physical appearance because my ponies would be frightened to see an unfamiliar creature walking amoung them. It would be easier for you to adjust to living here in Equis. Also one last thing, you’ll get a lot of looks from the mares. Don’t mind them though just ignore them if they try to get to clingy with you. Oh! One more thing, please remove your helmet when you enter a civilized area. Don’t want to scare off the locals and have a bad first impression now would you? Anyways that’s all.
Oh wait actually two more things, give this note to either of my daughters. Their names are Celestia and Luna, they are the co-rulers of this world. And last thing, once your done reading this note, break the seal that’s located at the back of this paper.

I turn the paper over and spot the seal that Faust was talking about. I go to break it, but hesitate a moment but end up going for it anyways. I break it, but nothing happens. A couple of minutes go by and still nothing happens. I sigh as I open a pocket in my armor and carefully fold the note and gently put it inside so I wouldn’t wrinkle it.
Once I put the note carefully away I put my focus on the two foals. Not even wanting to look at myself because I seriously don’t want to know what this Faust person changed me into. As long as I have my armor and weapons I’m fine. I let out a sigh once I think about the shit I’m going to have to go through in taking care of these kids. And the thing is, I don’t even know how to take of these kids! I don’t even have the currency here to buy them food for them or myself!
Talking about money, my ears twitch to the sound of coins shifting and clancking together. I look over the basket the foals sleep in and see a white sack. I reach over and pick the bag up but quickly regret as I cringe at the loud sound of coins clinking and clanking together in the bag. The sound makes the foals snort and fuss in frustration at the loud sound. They being to awaken as their eyes flutter open, and gently rub their eyes with their tiny hands.
I close my eyes, praying to God that they won’t start crying out loud. Couple seconds pass, no crying. I open my eyes and see the two pair of eyes looking back at mine. Their eyes stare curiously up at mine as they cursiously trace their eyes over my whole body. Their eyes then meet back with mine and out of no where, they smile.
A smile that makes my heart melt with overwhelming warmness. A whole warmth feeling spreads around my body making my tensed body, that I didn’t even know was tense, relax itself from the warmth. I slowly reach out to the foals with one finger. They both grab on to each one and giggly cutely. Hearing that made my heart jump. The warmth that I was feeling slowly increased.
Looking into the pools of jade blue eyes makes my icy blue ones water with happiness. Assuming my eyes are still the same color. I unwrap the twin foals to get a better look at them. They both have stark white manes and their coats are as dark as night. No surprise there that they have the same everything, except gender wise.
I let my metal gloves retract themselves so I can pick up the little girl and inspect her all over. I search for any injuries or things off about her, but nothing seems to be wrong with her. As I was inspecting her she giggles as she reaches her hands out to me. I smile at her actions and lean my face close to hers. She grabs onto my muzzle which I didn’t know I had because I didn’t want to check over my body. Well now I know what Faust changed me into. The little kid pulls at a strand of hair that hangs down forcefully, making me cringe in pain a little. She giggles at the face I’m making and let’s go of my mane.
I put her back in the basket, and I go to grab the little colt. I do the same as I did to the little girl.
’Man.....,’ I thought ‘I need to give them names.’
After I finish looking over the little guy I put him down next to his sister. I look down at them with a thoughtful look as both of them like look up at me with sparkling curious eyes. They start to babble out in their baby talk as they giggle and reach their tiny hands up at me. I smile warmly at this, but quickly shake my head, as I avert back to thinking about the names for these two.
After thinking hard about the names, I nod my head and give them their names. The little girls name is Amelia and the little boys name is Jonathan. They’ll both have my last name because why not. Even though their not my own kids they at least gotta have a last name and I’ll be taking care of them for now on.
I get the two twins nice and comfy in the basket and prepare to set off. With the twins in the basket and now secured in one of my arms I walk up to the nearest wall, I pull my hand back and clench into a fist, as I do that my metal glove forms around my hand and I launch my fist in the wall. The impact blasts the whole wall open and I quickly jump through so I don’t get the twins in danger of getting hit by the stone chunks.
I thought the twins would be scared of the loud noise I made, but instead they were giggling and clapping their little hands together. This made me smile brightly under my helmet. I then focus at the hand at task as I need to get out of this forest and find the nearest town to get to.
I pull out my sidearm, and I activate HUD on my helmets visor to thermal vision to scope and ememies that could be hiding.
I sigh as I let my pistol cool down from being shot so many times at these big ass weird looking cats called Manticores. I don’t know how I know what they’re called, but I know it has to do something with me breaking the seal on the back of the paper that Faust wrote for me. I think it gave me all the history about this world and how everything works. That’s actually helpful for because now I won’t need to learn everything about this world. I would have been a bitch to learn everything about this world.
Anyways, like I was saying, I’ve killed these Manticores and they won’t stop coming. It’s like every thirty minutes I get attacked by one. One plasma shot to the dome gets the job done, but fuck bro! They just keep coming, and plus those damn timberwovles are just as annoying. Especially when they come in packs, oh god, they piss me off. They keep on trying to get to the twins, but the twins don’t care. They just laugh and giggle as I spin and jump around with them in my arm trying to kill all the animals in this forest.
After all that, I spot an opening to this never ending wooded forest. I jog the rest of the way out, not wanting to spend another second in that damned forest, which I forgot to say is that it’s called Everfree Forest. The world that I now live is called Equis and the country that I’m in is called Equestria, and the species that reside in this country are called ‘Ponies’. There are more species that live here but I don’t feel like naming them all.
Once I get out of the forest I take a deep breath and give out a relaxing sigh. I put my pistol on my right leg where it attaches itself on a magnet located on my thigh. After walking out I spot a stone bridge that goes over a small river and a small cottage with all kinds of birds and bird houses around it. I scan the cottage with my thermal vision, but see nothing inside but animals.
‘Hmm, no one home,’ I thought.
I let my helmet retract itself and I take a look at twins and see them fast asleep once again. I’m guessing the laughing and giggling tired them out. They’re sleeping so peacefully, makes my heart flutter with warmness. Something that I haven’t felt in many many years since I joined the military.
Flashback
The military was a very cold, dark, and strict place. The camp I went was fine the first day, but then once other days starting passing by the instructors in the camp push us to our limits. We were even experimented on to be enhanced super soldiers. A scientist that went Dr. Sites enjected us with a yellow bright serum that enhanced our hearing, touch, smell, taste, eyesite, and body.
With this experiments going on killed some of the men and women I trained with. It was either that or the serum. Mostly all the them died from the serum because it wasn’t compatible with their DNA. Out of all the people that joined the military me and five others survived through all the hell we were put through. Once we survived all that we were experimented on once more, and that was to meld a stronger flexible metal alloy onto our bones. Out of all the experiments the doctor did on us, the one with the metal was the worst pain I have ever felt.
All of us knew what we were getting into, so none of his held any ill intentions towards the doc or any of the instructors. We knew they were just doing their jobs to makes us in refined super soldiers. Thought still, the military changed me ever since I joined.
Flashback Ends
I shake my head to rid of the memory. ‘I can’t avert back to my old myself again. I have to keep the twins safe and raise them well.
Once that’s all gone I go back to my main objective, and that’s to head into the town I see up ahead. I can see the towns people roaming around the town going about their daily business. I notice that the majority of the towns people are females.
“Hmm?” I hummed thoughtfully.
I start off to the town in lite jog to now disturb the twin from their sleep. As I was about to reach the entrance to the town, my ears twitch. I quickly jump back out of the way as something crashed down in front of me. Dust flys up into the air, obscuring my visions. I take out my pistol and change the mode to ‘Saftey Mode’. Reason is because if these are civis attacking they I don’t want to end up killing them.
My ears twitch again as my sixth sense starts to warn me. I swiftly duck under a blade that was at my head and quickly deflect an arrow that’s been shot towards me.
I jump out of the dust cloud I’m in, and swipe my hand towards the cloud making it disappear. With that, it reveals my attackers.
They’re all female ponies. It’s odd really because I thought I at least would seen some males with them. They seemed to be dressed in gold armor and dark purple armor. The ones in gold has a sun on their chest piece and the ones in the dark armor has a crescent moon.
They must be the Solar and Lunar guards and judging from the look of their armor, I think they’re the elites.’
I let my armor surround the twins to protect them. I leave some open holes in the armor so they’re able to breath. I put them down next to me and ready myself.
“What the hell? How the heck did he do that with his armor?” One of the Solar guards asked with curiosity.
“Doesn’t matter how. Let’s just beat this guy and take him to HQ have him go to the interrogation room.” One of the Lunar Guards said with coldness dripping off her voices. Her voice carries a thick German type accent
“Alright girls, be wary of this guy. He seems different and carries unknown weapons. Keep your distance and disarm him.” A Lunar guard says with what sounds like a British accent.
“Aw fuck yeah! Let’s kick some ass girls.” A Solar guard yells out with a raspy voice tomboyish voice.
They all rush me at one time with their weapons pointed towards me. I sigh at this, ‘I really don’t want to hurt these girls.’
I let serum in my body take over my body. My icy blue eyes turn into slitted sickly yellow ones. Instinct takes over my body as I put away my pistol and await the volley of attacks headed my way.
