See it and weep

Magic class mayhem

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

4:00 night.

The Pegasus flew fast. The TARDIS signal was cut off so now all they had to go on was the time ponies. They would have to follow them to it. The blue filly had enough life energy to sustain millions of angels for years. Her they would devour. They flew until they came upon a yard of other statues. There the six weeping angels waited. Waited for their next meal.

Sunday morning

"Okay class. Let's hear some suggestions for what can learn today." Twilight sparkle told her class. Sunday magic class was always fun. It also gave her a chance to keep an eye on Colgate. That filly was an ace in magic, in some things even as good as herself. The class consisted of five students. Four today because Dinky was out. She would have to ask Colgate where she was later. She looked about to see all the fillies with their hoofs raised.

"Okay Berry pinch! What would you like to learn?" Twilight asked, curious to see what the pink filly had to offer.

"I want to learn love magic like princess Cadence!" Berry pinch smiled up with a big grin.

"I told you girls. I'm planning to ask princess cadence if she can come down and teach us herself. That’s her special talent so she understands it more than me. Any other suggestions?"

Berry pinch and Bloo kept their hooves down.

"How about you Firelock?" she looked down at the orange filly with the red mane. Probably spitfire fans by the looks of her mane do. Sure enough the filly’s suggestion agreed with the fact.

"Can you teach us how to grow wings?"

"Sorry. No can do. That spell takes up a lot of magic and it could be dangerous." All the fillies whined for a moment before the question for any suggestions rose again. Twilight found that the only one left was Colgate.

"Yes Colgate? What would you like to learn?" If this was as hard as the others, she would have to teach more about levitation. Again.

"Is a stone destruction spell too hard?" the filly asked timidly, apparently worried Twilight would say no. Surprised, Twilight shook her head.

"No, a stone destruction spell would be perfect. SPIKE! Bring the practice statues over here!" she shouted, waiting until he came out, dragging along four massive stone blocks. The burden was lifted as each filly levitated their blocks to position, as they have many times when casting destructive spells. After going over the basics of the spell, they tried it out.

"Ready, aim, fire!" Twilight said. Once the last word was out of her mouth, red, blue, green, and pink magic shot at the bricks. Brick dust shot up around them clouding their vision. Once the smoke cleared, Twilight was stunned. The only brick to be completely destroyed was none other than Colgate’s. The brick was nothing but dust.

"How...how did you...what?" Twilight stuttered. It had taken her two weeks before she perfected it. It took Colgate two minutes. This filly sure did have a special gift.

"Good job Colgate! Very good. Now does any pony have anything else they want to learn or is that it for today?" The class decided to be dismissed for now. As usual they would come in the evening again, but with their parents, and practice what they had learned.

She decided she would have a talk with Clockworks about Colgate getting a higher level of education in canterlot. She personally new five different ones that were looking for new students. Just before she went looking for him, she spotted spike sneaking towards the door.

"Spike! Take a letter." Upon hearing this, the dragon sighed.

“A simple please would be nice every once in a while." He complained, shut up by a look Twilight gave him.

"Please take a letter to Princess Luna. I have news concerning a pony that she could take as her own personal student."

Colgate trotted through town, searching for any weeping angels. After telling uncle Clockworks about her new destruction spell, he asked her to go find any weeping angels and try to destroy them. That was six hours ago and she hadn't found any.

She headed over to carousel boutique, the only place she hadn't looked. Of course with her luck, no pony was home and there weren’t any statues around as far as the eye could see. Looking up in the sky she guessed it was about a quarter past six. She should go get uncle clockworks so they can make it to the afternoon magic class.

She trotted along, passing carriages and shopping ponies. The shops and street soon disappeared as Colgate made it into the Everfree forest, headed for the TARDIS cave. Some ponies had started calling it the cave of souls because if you stood near it you could sometimes hear whispering. Colgate knew that was just her uncle’s way to keep foolish fillies away from the TARDIS. She was almost halfway there when she heard a strange noise coming from behind her. She spun around, horn glowing, ready to demolish any creatures that tried to eat her. Looking around a moving shadow caught her eye. Using all her strength, she locked on to whatever it was, levitating it over to her. Now the creature was a few feet from her. She looked up.

"Colgate! Put me down! Can't a guy eat a banana in peace!?!" her uncle clockworks shouted above her. Not wanting to upset him more than already, she did what he asked. He came down with a loud 'oomph!'

"I was just strolling through the forest, eating a banana, when I'm surrounded by blue and I can't feel the ground! “He dramatized, making it sound like the world just ended.

"I’m sorry uncle. I was just coming to find you actually. It's about time for evening magic class and Miss Twilight needs to speak with you. She said its real important." and with that the two turned around and headed for the library, chatting and laughing like life was normal.

"Hello Clockworks, Colgate. Nice that you could come." Twilight greeted the two, letting them in. Twilight trotted behind them nervously. She had a very important matter to discuss with mister clockworks. They trotted to the room where magic practice takes place. Clockworks sat down at a table, while Colgate went and sat next to the other students.

"Okay girls, you’re free to practice your magic. Remember the rules." Twilight told them as their horns all started glowing; practicing any magic skills they wanted. Twilight watched Colgate. The blue filly went over to the stone bricks from earlier that day and blew each one up in order. After a while parents and fillies left. One hours in, all where gone except clockworks and Colgate. By then the filly was resting, building up energy to practice more. Twilight went and sat by clockworks.

"Colgate told me you had an important matter to speak to me of?"Inquired Clockworks. Twilight saw that this was her chance to tell him.

"Clockworks, you have a very talented niece. She has surpasses what I can teach her, so I asked a friend of mine if they would take her on as their student. She said she would but it's up to you. You would have to move to Canterlot if you did agree, but it would give your niece a chance to excel in her talent. So it's up to you.”  Twilight said, barely holding back her anticipation. Clockwork took a minute to think before replying.

"Well, first I need to know a few things. Who is the teacher, where are the classes held and what dates?" He inquired. Twilight couldn't wait to see the surprised look on his face.

"You will be surprised to know that prins..."

"DOCTOR!!!" Twilight was cut off from her sentence by a screaming Colgate.

"I'm coming!" Clockworks yelled, already galloping away. The dumbfounded Twilight followed, only thinking of one thing to say.

"You’re a Doctor?"

As soon as Clockworks heard Colgate, he was off. Colgate never called him Doctor except when they were alone or she was seriously scared. He rounded the corner to find Colgate trapped by a weeping Pegasus against the wall.

"Quick! Teleport to me!" he shouted, keeping his eyes on the statue.

"I can't! Somehow they closed off my magic!" Colgate cried, obviously not having fun anymore.

"What's wrong? It's just a statue." Twilight trotted over, her horn lighting up. It stayed on for just a second before flickering until glow finally died.

"What the? What happened to my magic?" Twilight said, again dumbfounded. Just then the lights flickered.

"Their sapping the energy! NO!" the Doctor looked over to find that during the flicker the Pegasus had taken Colgate. Both she and the statue where gone.

"Where’d they go?" Twilight asked, obviously unaware of eminent death.

The lights began to flicker again.

"I have the feeling......that were not alone." for a moment all that could be heard was the two ponies breathing and the faint snoring of the baby dragon upstairs.

Suddenly the Doctor whipped himself, and Twilight around, coming face to face with a weeping Pegasus. Twilight screamed.

"Sorry I put you in this predicament miss Twilight. I don't really have any controls over these things." then, to the surprise of Twilight he stepped up to the statue, and looked it right in the eye.

"You know who I am. You also know what I can accomplish. But now you took my niece. My family. Nobody. Hurts. My. Family. By time I finish with you, you’ll wish you’d taken my advice all those years ago to run. Now Twilight." he turned to her, his voice and eyes calm.

"I need you to do something for me. It won't be completely safe but it's our only hope to find Colgate. On the count of three, blink." He turned back towards the Pegasus.

"One,"

"But, but!"

"Two." He looked at Twilight one last time.

"Trust me Miss Twilight. I'm a Doctor. Three." Right then they blinked. In that split second, the stone Pegasus and the ponies disappeared from the library.

Just moments later a groggy baby dragon came down the stairs.

"Twi? Are you there?"He looked around and shrugged it off, going back up to get some more sleep.
