Escape

Previous Chapter

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, go!” Twilight used all her energy, throwing it into one spell. She decided that the easiest way to make it to the cell was by teleporting herself there. That would give her a chance to escape when Luna raised the moon. She strained and purple magic enclosed around her. She closed her eyes and felt herself being moved into the cell. Then she opened them.

“No! But I was sure I got the calculations right!” She looked around, bewildered. She was in the cell next to the one she needed to get to.

“Wait! I still have about five seconds left!” she closed her eyes again and used her magic. She could feel it drifting away but she did it. When she opened her eyes she was on the floor next to a small cot. In the cot was none other than Clockwork.

“What the hay are you doing in here!?! This cell was supposed to be empty! Now the statues are going to guess that I came in here for you. This will be the first place they look!” She ranted on and on, finally stopping when she noticed that Clockwork was still asleep.

“CLOCKWORK!!! WAKE UP!” She yelled at him. She then proceeded to get on the cot and jump on the confused, dazed stallion.

“What the…” The Doctor woke up to find a purple unicorn standing on him. She wasn't heavy, but she was very annoying.

“Cant an old man get any sleep around here?” he complained. Twilight looked angrily at him.

“The hay, you’re as old as me! Now shut up and get up. We need to hide me!” the Doctor closed his eyes, just to be bucked off his cot by the mare.

“Get up! It’s been four days since we got here. I just had enough energy to get into this cell once. Now find me a place to hide! Do you have any idea what’s going on? Do you have amnesia?” she got up right in his face and shouted at him.

“BECAUSE YOUR NIECE IS ABOUT TO TURN INTO A STATUE, IM GONNA GET KICKED OUT OF THIS CELL, AND ALL OF EQUESTRIA IS GONNA FALL BECAUSE YOU WONT GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT!!!!!!” she stopped and caught her breath, the Doctor sat up and flopped his ears. He shook himself and trotted in circles for a moment.

“I’m sorry Clockwork but I’m under a lot of stress.” She sighed tiredly, lying down on the cot. The Doctor continued to trot around until he stopped next to the cot and looked at Twilight.

“I’d prefer if you just call me the Doctor. Clockwork was a …. Placeholder name you could say. And just so you know I am much older than 22 unlike you. I’ve seen things you couldn’t even begin to describe. Now about Colgate, she should be fine until the princess comes. That is what you’re doing, isn’t it?” he looked at her curiously.

“How did you know? The secret passageway was just in the legend books. I only believed it when I saw it for the first time.”

“When you’ve seen as much as me, you start believing legends. Especially when you are one.” He started walking around again, feeling a bit guilty to talk about his past.

“Clockwork, can I ask some questions about you? We will be here for a while anyways. So?” she looked expectant. The Doctor sighed. He might as well. He needed to gain her trust any ways.

“Okay. Ask away.” He reluctantly agreed. Of course it’s not like he had to tell her about the time war or anything.

“Okay. What are you a Doctor of? And you said that Clockwork was a placeholder name, but wouldn’t the Doctor be one also? And exactly how old are you?” it took a moment but the Doctor finally got up the courage to tell her. Hopefully she would be as acceptant as Colgate.

“I am a Doctor of everything you can think of. Well, except medicine. Not to good at that ironically. And you’re right. The Doctor is a place holder name as well, but I prefer to be called that. If I did say my real name, there’s a good chance this planet would rip in half. As for the age, it’s a bit personal. If I remember right it was around…1350??? Give or take a few decades.

And before you give me the ‘you’re a crazy pony’ look, I have to say that I am by all means not crazy. I may be a little mad but not crazy.” All Twilight did was look on in silence. There was a moment before Twilight began more questions.

“sooo…  I know you have the clock shop in Ponyville, but where do you and Colgate actually live? And why doesn’t Colgate have regular Doctor appointments? Also, where did you come from? Before Ponyville I mean.”

“I’ll give the answers to you straight. We live in the Everfree forest in a cave, she doesn’t have appointments because she doesn’t need them, and we came from earth.” She looked at him, not believing his replies. Instead of commenting on them she decided to just ask more serious questions.

“What are those things that attacked us?” he looked about and started talking.

“Good luck Twilight. Don’t get eaten and remember my advice about the weeping angels. Get here as soon as possible. Go now!” the Doctor said his last farewells as Twilight shrunk down and scurried through the mouse hole. She had exactly twenty seconds to get far enough away from the dungeon to access magic. If she didn’t, then she would start to grow. She would die, stuck down there. She felt so weird being small. She ran into the tunnel and kept on running. It was dark and damp. It was about twenty feet long. In her small state, that was almost a mile.

“No. no. no. no!” she felt her magic slipping away and ran faster. She slowly grew. She looked around in despair as she ran. The dark tunnels provided no means of a faster passage anywhere. Now she could feel the sides of the tunnel, brushing against her horn and sides. She kept growing. It burned so much. It felt like she was suffocating from no space to move. Soon she couldn’t even crawl. She was stuck. She knew this would happen. Now equestria would fall and it wasn’t the Doctor’s fault. It was hers. She cried until she couldn’t even do that because of cramped space. Soon she would be crushed. She closed her eyes and waited. It never came. She opened her eyes to find that she had been teleported by some strange magic into the princess’s castle. Celestia stood in front of her.

“Princess! Oh thank you!” Twilight ran to her, flinging her hoofs around her mentors neck in a big hug.

“Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student. Can you please explain what you were doing in a mouse hole under my castle?”

Colgate opened her eyes to find herself in the hospital. Uncle Clockwork stood by the window. In it she could see his eyes. She would have nightmares about those eyes for years. Those where the eyes of someone who had lost. Had lost so much that they would kill for what they had left. Those eyes had killed for her. She could feel it. But those eyes were also filed with despair and regret, sadness and wonder. Eyes of so many emotions you couldn’t begin to imagine.

“Uncle. It’s okay. I’m fine.” She said to him, hoping to calm him down. In truth she was anything but fine. One of her hearts wasn’t beating and she burned everywhere. Uncle turned towards her, those eyes burning so bright and deadly, she coward down and looked away.

“NO YOU’RE NOT OKAY! DON’T YOU SEE!! THEY COULD HAVE KILLED YOU! IF I HADNT GOTTEN THERE WHEN I DID YOU COULD HAVE DIED!! AND I WOULD BE ALONE! I don’t know what I would do if I lost you.” He laid his head against the window and sobbed. The fire in his eyes was gone. All that remained was one word. Alone.

“What did you do to the colt uncle? Did you…” she trailed off, afraid of what he would say. He didn’t say anything. That was the last time she would ever see or hear from stone. She looked up at her uncle again. He trotted to her bedside, his eyes now dried.

“Okay Colgate. You just need to keep your eyes closed a little longer.” He whispered. “It’s okay darling, its okay. Everything’s going to be fine.” He smiled down at her.

“But uncle. What did you do to him? What about his family?” she looked into his eyes. But her uncle’s eyes weren’t there. Instead they were stone. Cold stone eyes on a face with its mouth agape with razor sharp teeth.

“I killed him.” Said a deep voice. That wasn’t her uncle. Then it was.

“Now Colgate! Open your eyes!” and she did.

When she did, there was her uncle again, tears running down his face. Only this time they weren’t in a hospital room. Finding out she could move, Colgate leaped into her uncle’s arms.

“I love you Doctor.” She used her uncle’s favorite name. She loved him so much, even if it did mean loving a killer. When she let go and looked around, she was amazed. All the weeping angels where gone. Twilight stood next to the Doctor, and next to her stood the two princesses.

“Princess Celestia! Princess Luna! You’re here!” Colgate gasped in awe.

“Yes child. Twilight sparkle has told me about you. Would you wish to be my new student?” princess Luna asked.

Colgate looked at her uncle pleadingly, who nodded.

“YES!!! I would love to!” she jumped up and down. But then she looked down.” But I won’t be able to stay. Me and uncle are going on a trip.” Colgate explained

“I won’t be here for a couple days…” she looked up at the princess to find her smiling.

“Thou can take a trip. I just need you to do one thing for me. Make a list of all the adventures you have, and make sure that all of your fun is doubled." Luna looked down surprised when she found her new student hugging her.

“I’ll do my best.” The filly exclaimed she jumped up and down. Twilight smiled, glad to see the filly happy.

“Okay Colgate. We have all our supplies and things. Who’s ready to go on an adventure?” the Doctor looked over at the excited filly. They had come back to Ponyville and said goodbye to the Doo’s before leaving and returned Ponet to his original time. Then they had checked up on the princesses and their new six additions to their statue garden. Then they had gone to the TARDIS and left. They were now flying through the time vortex, the doors of the TARDIS opened.

“Are you ready? Once you look in there’s no going back.” He received a nod.

“I’m ready.” Colgate said. The Doctor led her over to the door and she looked into the time vortex for the first time. After a minute she looked back up at him, her eyes wide.

“All of time and space. Let’s go explore!” she ran over to the TARDIS console and they took off, ready for adventure.
