Gold.
Often referred to as the most valuable and rare substance.
I had a valuable substance once.
It was called; Friendship.
I had several sources of this, but only two were the richest with it.
Me and them formed a good club back when we were trying to find our talents.
We called ourselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders club.
We were together almost all the time.
Nearly inseparable.
But that changed, I suppose it had to eventually.
Sweetie Belles sister lost her passion for sewing and went to the army as a final attempt to keep her home.
Apparently she was killed in battle.
We did not find this out until the holidays.
It probably did not help her when she got her sisters gift for her.
The gift was a gun with exactly five clips of ammo already set up.
After the holidays, she went downhill fast.
Pushing us away, closing herself away from the world outside of bars and her house.
She became an alcoholic, and a violent drunk at that, she also started doing drugs.
It broke everyone's heart to watch what she was going through.
Even though I eventually stopped going by to see her, Scootaloo did not.
She stayed by her side the whole time.
Several times I saw Scootaloo with bruises and black eyes, after Sweetie Belle got back from getting drunk at one of the few bars in town she was still able to go to.
One day I heard from Scootaloo that Belle had almost overdosed on heroin.
I rushed to her side, but she kept pushing me away.
Saying things like ‘You left me.’, ‘Your no friend of mine.’, and ‘Why don't you go and hang yourself with that stupid bow you wear.’.
I was starting to get secluded.
But when Belle delivered my letter of acceptance into the same college we were all going to.
I forgot all about the past and the reason why I became secluded.
And my sources of “gold” were restored.
Upon graduation however, our paths led in different directions.
We knew that we could not follow each other anymore without holding them back.
So we went our separate ways. Promising to stay in touch with each other.
But because of my job, I did not have an address not a phone number for them to contact me by.
One day after my talent was revealed to be dancing and I became known as the Twirling Bloom, I reached out to Belle.
It turned out that she became known as the Sweetheart Bell.
The same singer who sung the songs that I taught my dance classes to.
And that Scootaloo found herself a wife and had a kid.
I told Belle that the Cutie Mark Crusaders were still going back in our hometown, but they were no club.
They turned it into a gang.
And they wanted the original Cutie Mark Crusaders to be the leaders of the gang.
We agreed to do it.
So we sent people to Scootaloo, to get her to come back.
We have no idea how it happened, but Scootaloo's house and family were caught in a fire.
She became known as Scootaloo the burner after she had burned entire towns to the ground, and started to kill our Cutie Mark Crusaders members one by one.
She was captured when she tried to kill us.
This was when she was convicted of the murder of an entire state worth of victims and was sentenced to death.
The chosen method was by fire.
The same thing that scared her most was the thing that was going to kill my friend.
Both me and Belle were there when her sentence was carried out.
“My pain has finally come to an end.”
As I listened to her last words before she was pushed into the fire, I thought back to the good old times.
When the three of us would get ice-cream together.
Times when we did nothing but laugh and have fun.
Times when everything seemed perfect.
Afterwards I did what Belle did when she lost her sister.
I guess it worked out for me in a good way.
Now as I slip the rope around my neck, all I can think about is what ifs.
What if I had gone to her and asked her face to face.
If only.
If only I could take this all back. I would do it 100 times over.
But that was impossible.
Much like Belle, Scootaloo was my support.
“I'll see you real soon, Scootaloo. I'll see you all real soon.”
I say as I stare down at a picture of my friends and family and my tenth birthday.
It's sorta sad how I decided to end it all on the same day as the picture, only 20 years later.
“I hope Belle will be fine without me. Just so long as my manager does not tell her, she should be fine. Goodbye Sweetie Belle. You were more than my friend.”
I spoke my final words before kicking my stool away from under me.
With the addition of the extra weight I gained completely ruining my body, by drinking, smoking, getting pregnant, it caused my neck to snap as I fell.
But not enough to kill me instantly.
I always wondered what it felt like to be hung in a sexual way.
But my life was over. Even if I did chicken out, I would not be able to do anything.
Mainly because I tied my bow around my hands to prevent any complications.
As my vision fades away, I can not help but to wonder, is this how Scootaloo felt?
As I hung there slowly drifting off into darkness while slowly turning in place; I think to myself; Going out the way that I am most scared of.
Scootaloo would be proud that I am finally facing my fear, sort of. And that I was doing it for her. She would have been proud my accomplishments.
