Chapters Rainbow Dash vs. Reverse Flash
Author's Note
Because the Arrow/Flash/Legends/Supergirl episode gives NO explanation as to how he survived being erased as a time remnant other than "traveling through time is confusing", he's just back because the show can't get enough of him, and they're not likely to expand on it coz he's not the main villain of any of the current seasons, he'll just likely be the rare recurring villain like the Trickster.
Also, despite all the references they do to other shows, I very much doubt they have MLP in the Arrowverse because Cisco never ONCE mentioned it, despite the opportunity to mention Rainbow Dash due to the whole speed element.
Metahuman in Equestria
Eobard Thawne, also known as Reverse Flash, stared at the monstrosity that appeared before him.
It was Black Flash, the speedster formerly known as Zoom, turned into an undead creature similar to a Time Wraith, hunting him because he was a time aberration. When his ancestor, Eddie, had shot himself, Eobard had been erased from existence, but the Speed Force kept his past time travels intact by turning his past self into a time remnant up until the point of Eddie's death, thus preserving the timeline and preventing any paradoxes.
When he was pulled from the timeline by Barry, though his then-future actions remained intact, Eobard was able to exist beyond the point when he was erased, sparing him from his nonexistence. Hence, his being a time aberration. He had tried to use the Spear of Destiny to make his existence natural again so Black Flash would no longer hunt him, but he had failed.
Eobard tried to run, but Black Flash was faster, phasing his hand into his heart, ironically one of his own favorite ways of killing his victims. With a scream of defeat, Eobard disintegrated into orange particles.
He found himself in an ancient castle. He rubbed his head. Was he in hell? Would he even go to hell in a state of nonexistence?
Then he noticed his hand felt weird on his head. He looked at his hands and gasped.
They were hooves. Two yellow hooves. He stood up and wobbled around, falling on all fours. For some reason he couldn't stand on two legs the way he used to.
He also felt a strange sensation, as though he had three limbs he hadn't had before. The first thing he noticed, likely due to being on all fours like an animal, was that he had a tail. It was the same shade of brown as his hair. He moved it around, finding it hard to get used to.
He then examined himself and realized with a jolt that he had a pair of feathered wings. He flapped them, and they were able to move pretty fast.
He also noticed that the Reverse Flash logo, a black circle with a red lightning bolt, had appeared on his hip.
Somehow, his "death" had transformed him into some sort of a pegasus, like in Greek mythology. He did seem smaller and cuter than horses generally were.
Whatever he was, he hoped Black Flash wouldn't follow him here.
He tried flapping his wings and flying at top speed. He flew fast, but slammed into a pillar.
After a few crashes, he finally flew out the window, flying straight and leaving a red streak of lightning behind him.
Until he crashed in an area that looked like a rocky wasteland.
"Ow, watch it!" said a female voice.
"Excuse me, I can't get used to these..."
He stared. The creature in front of him looked like a horse, but she was dark gray with fangs, a greasy teal mane and tail, insectoid wings, a long jagged horn on her forehead, and... were those holes in her hooves? For some reason he thought of Swiss cheese.
"What the hell are you?"
"I am Chrysalis, former queen of the changelings, and you have interrupted my plans for revenge!" said the creature.
"Revenge?" said Eobard. "On who?"
"Starlight Glimmer," said Chrysalis. "She took my kingdom and my entire army away from me! I will torture her and kill her in the most brutal ways!"
"What kind of metahuman is she?"
"Metahuman? What is a metahuman? She is a unicorn!"
There are unicorns now? Eobard got the feeling he wasn't on Earth 1 anymore.
"Where in the world am I?"
"You're not from around here, are you? This is Equestria!"
"Equestria. So... everyone in this world is some kind of horse?"
"It's mostly those akursid ponies."
So I'm a pony now? A pegasus pony from the looks of things.
"But there are also changelings, and dragons, and griffons, and... wait, why am I explaining all this to you? You're one of them!"
"I wasn't always a pony! I come from a place called Earth 1. Back there I was a human, or a metahuman because I'm a speedster." Normally he wouldn't give so much details, but he was a little weirded out by all this, despite all he'd seen and caused.
"Oh, you come from that human world that Princess Twilight crossed into."
"Twilight Princess? I've never seen her, but... yes, I come from the human world!"
Of course, Chrysalis was thinking of a different world entirely.
"And there, I'm the... second fastest man alive. Soon to be the fastest." And since his plan with the Spear of Destiny failed, he'd probably stay here, hoping this Equestria was out of Black Flash's reach. "So, I guess I'm the fastest pony alive now."
"No, you're not."
"What?"
"There's a pony faster than you. She's also a pegasus. She can fly faster than the speed of sound and create a Sonic Rainboom!"
"I don't know what that is, but... who is this speedster?"
"One of Starlight's friends. Her name is Rainbow Dash. You can't miss her. She's a blue pony with a rainbow mane and tail. Really cocky and arrogant." Rainbow Dash did have a bit of an ego, but Chrysalis was exaggerating. "If you want to be the fastest pony alive, you'll have to defeat her."
"We'll just see which one of us is faster! So, she's basically this world's Flash, right?"
"Who?"
"Never mind. So, if my rival is your enemy's friend, then, we should team up to take them out!"
"I am a little short on minions. Very well. Help me get my revenge, and be my faithful assistant, satisfying your desire to be the fastest pony alive. But if you betray me, I WILL kill you."
"Good luck with that. You're not as fast as me! Besides, I don't think I can even die!"
"You'd be surprised how fast I can fly as a dragon."
"I'm still faster. Either I'm on top or we rule Equestria together!"
"Like Celestia and Luna. Hmm. Fine. But first you need to get used to those wings."
Rainbow Dash vs. Reverse Flash
A few weeks later, the Mane 6, Spike, and Starlight were having a big party at Twilight's castle. Of course, Pinkie Pie was the one who set it up.
"Hey Applejack," said Rainbow Dash, "back when we were trying to find out what happened to the Pillars of Equestria... that was the first time you've bitten my tail since... I don't know, a long time! When was the last time before that? I think it was when we were being sucked into that comic book right before we became the Power Ponies. That WAS you who bit my tail, right?"
"Yeah, it was," said Applejack.
"You used to do it all the time! I mean, not that it wasn't annoying sometimes, but I kinda miss it. Why don't you anymore?"
"I don't know why. I guess I just lost interest in bitin' tails. I tried it again that time for old time's sake, plus you just fell down. But, it just wasn't as fun as it used to be."
"Of course that didn't stop Pinkie from biting my tail twice before then."
"I think it's because the writers changed, and can't keep up with the style of the first two seasons!" said Pinkie Pie, breaking the fourth wall.
"Huh?" said Rainbow Dash and Applejack at once.
"Forget it," said Twilight Sparkle. "She's just being Pinkie Pie."
Suddenly, Pinkie's tail twitched, and a yellow blur with red electricity zoomed into the room. The Mane 6 and Spike were instantly tripped and fell flat on their faces, and Starlight vanished.
"What in Equestria just happened?" said Rarity.
"Starlight?" said Twilight as she got to her feet. "Starlight, where are you?"
Chrysalis waited patiently in her cave. She did not have to wait long. Not a minute after he had left, Eobard returned, carrying Starlight with him by biting her tail.
"I got her!" said Eobard.
"Excellent," said Chrysalis.
The instant Eobard set Starlight down, Chrysalis trapped her hooves in green slime, and then coated her horn with it as well so she could not use magic.
"I should have known you were behind this," said Starlight, trying to shoot a magic beam unsuccessfully. "Who's he?"
"I am Reverse Flash, and I will be the fastest pony in Equestria!" said Eobard.
"Good luck beating Rainbow Dash."
"Oh, she's next." Eobard zoomed out the door.
"Chrysalis, I'm telling you, you don't want to pursue a path of vengeance!" said Starlight. "When I did that, I almost destroyed all of Equestria!"
"Destroyed all of Equestria? If my plans end that way, I will be one satisfied changeling!" Chrysalis licked her lips, and Starlight felt even more uncertain that Chrysalis could ever be reformed.
"Who would want to take Starlight?" said Twilight.
"Isn't it obvious?" said Rainbow Dash. "Chrysalis would! She swore absolute revenge on her, and we just let her fly away!"
"But she's not that fast. Whoever it is would have to be as fast as you."
There was a blur of red electricity, and Eobard stood before them.
"Rainbow Dash!" he said. "I challenge you to a race to prove which of us is the faster pony!"
"You're the punk that took Starlight!" said Rainbow Dash. "If I win, you have to show me where you've hidden her!"
"We'll see about that!"
They took off, flying at incredible speed.
Eobard was fast. But Rainbow Dash kept up with him the entire way.
"Where exactly are we racing TO?" said Rainbow Dash.
"To the Crystal Empire, then to the south edge of Badlands!" said Eobard. He had since explored Equestria and learned much about it from Chrysalis.
"You got it!"
By the time they reached the Crystal Empire and turned around, Eobard was pulling ahead.
He reached the edge of the Badlands before her.
"I can't believe I lost," said Rainbow Dash.
"I told you I'm faster," said Eobard. "Now, I'd better go see how Chrysalis's revenge plan is going."
He flew back to Chrysalis's cave at top speed.
"Have you decided what to do with her yet?" said Eobard.
"I have three ideas in mind," said Chrysalis. "I'm trying to decide which one of them is the most vicious!"
Suddenly, Eobard felt a fierce tug on his tail, which threw him backwards into a wall. His attacker was none other than Rainbow Dash! She had bitten his tail and thrown him.
Oh no... how could I have let this happen? She followed me here! Even though I'm faster than her she was still able to keep up with me.
Rainbow Dash bucked Eobard in the face and knocked him out.
"You let Starlight go right now!" said Rainbow Dash.
"Or else what?" said Chrysalis.
Rainbow Dash flew circles around Chrysalis. Chrysalis started to get dizzy, and stumbled around. Rainbow kicked her away. Then she grabbed Starlight with her hooves and pulled her free of the slime, and then rushed her back to Twilight's castle, where Twilight destroyed the slime on her horn and what remained of it on her hooves.
"It's so good to have you back," said Twilight, giving Starlight a hug.
"I was afraid that pony had done something awful to you," said Fluttershy.
"It's not over yet," said Rainbow Dash. "Starlight, do you feel up to fighting Chrysalis?"
"Chrysalis?" said Twilight.
"She's working with Reverse Flash," said Starlight. "And fortunately you rescued me before she could hurt me."
Starlight teleported to Chrysalis's cave with the Mane 6. Unfortunately, there was no sign of Chrysalis or Eobard.
"They must have left," said Twilight.
Rainbow Dash vs. Reverse Flash
Chrysalis carried the unconscious Eobard to another cave by his tail. He woke up before they arrived.
"It's a good thing ponies' tails don't have pain receptors, or else that would've hurt!" he said once she relinquished his tail from her sharp fangs. "Were you planning on biting Starlight? That would be a good start for your revenge."
"I should just kill you right now," said Chrysalis. "You led Rainbow Dash to our lair and ruined my vengeance!"
"So why don't you? You need me. You know you can't recapture Starlight without me!"
"There are other ways I could go about it. But this would be the easier way. I'll give you one last chance. But we can't have Rainbow Dash getting in the way of our plans again. You've already proven you're faster than her. She must be dealt with ."
"The last thing I need is another speedster in my kingdom. She won't screw up your revenge plans again!" With a flash of red electricity, Eobard flew out the cave entrance.
"We probably haven't heard the last of this Reverse Flash," said Twilight back at the castle. "He'll be back, and we must be ready for his..."
Suddenly, there was a flash of red electricity, and Eobard was in the room.
"Rainbow Dash! I challenge you to a battle!"
"Bring it on!" said Rainbow Dash.
"Are you sure you can beat him?" said Twilight. "You said he won the race."
"If I'd done a Sonic Rainboom, I'd have won for... Yeargh!"
In another flash of red electricity, Eobard got behind Rainbow Dash, bit her tail, and flew away with her.
"Hey, a varmint like you don't deserve to bite her tail!" yelled Applejack angrily.
"Do I deserve to bite her tail?" said Fluttershy, who had done so when trying to rescue Rarity from the Diamond Dogs.
"Of course you do, sugarcube" said Applejack. "Don't ever think you don't. You're ten times the pony he'll ever be."
Fluttershy blushed affectionately.
Rainbow Dash pulled her tail free of Eobard's teeth and flew at him. He flew to the side, and then aimed a kick at her. Rainbow dodged by flying upward.
Eobard hadn't expected that. Usually speedsters ran horizontally, and if they ran vertically it was up a wall.
Before he could figure out where Rainbow Dash was, lightning suddenly struck him. He nearly fell out of the sky and looked around, his mane and tail frazzled.
"Gotchya!" said Rainbow Dash, who had just kicked a thundercloud directly above him. "And that's not all I can do!"
She flew circles around Eobard, creating a tornado.
"Oh, so you have weather powers like Clyde Mardon," said Eobard. "Well, I know how to deal with that!"
He flew circles inside the tornado in the reverse of the direction the wind was blowing, and before long the tornado dissipated.
"Wow, you are fast," said Rainbow Dash. "I've never seen a pony do that before."
"I'm not your average pony," said Eobard.
"Catch me if you can!" Rainbow Dash flew upward again.
Eobard flew after her.
Rainbow put both hooves in front of her, and Eobard did the same. They gained momentum as they flew higher and higher.
And then, there were two sonic booms. One was rainbow-colored, and one was gray. Rainbow and Eobard were flying faster than the speed of sound, Rainbow leaving a rainbow trail behind her.
Ah, so THAT'S a Sonic Rainboom , thought Eobard. But I'm catching up!
As they changed their flight pattern to fly downward toward the Badlands, Rainbow could feel Eobard on her tail. After all, he could go fast enough to manipulate time.
Eobard got closer and closer. Soon her tail was in reach. He opened his mouth to bite it and throw her to the ground.
...And then Rainbow whipped Eobard in the face with her tail. He lost a bit of balance, allowing Rainbow to slow down slightly and get behind him. She bit his tail, swung him around in circles, and threw him to the ground, sending him crashing into Chrysalis, who was watching at the cave entrance.
Both villains lay dazed inside a crater.
"I can't believe you bungled it again," said Chrysalis. "This ends now." Her horn glowed green menacingly.
They looked up and saw Rainbow Dash approaching them at lightning fast speed.
There was a rainbow mushroom cloud explosion. When the smoke cleared, Eobard and Chrysalis were gone.
Rainbow returned to Twilight's castle.
"They won't be bothering us anytime soon," said Rainbow Dash. "I Rain Nuked them!"
The ponies cheered.
"I knew you could beat them," said Twilight.
"Are they really gone?" said Fluttershy.
"I didn't see anything left of them," said Rainbow Dash. "But, we thought Chrysalis was gone when Princess Cadance and Shining Armor blasted her over the edge of Canterlot, so I wouldn't count her out just yet. But Reverse Flash is definitely toast, so she lost her only ally."
Chrysalis woke up and looked around. She must be on the south side of the Badlands. There was a Chrysalis-shaped dent in the rocks; Obviously, the Rain Nuke had sent her flying into it. Short of something like the Crystal Heart or the Elements of Harmony, there was nothing the immortal ex-queen couldn't withstand.
"I'll get her soon enough!" said Chrysalis. "But first, I need to resume coming up with a plan for revenge on Starlight!"
Eobard got to his feet and rubbed his head.
His feet. He was standing on two feet.
He looked at his hands. They were human hands, and he was wearing the Reverse Flash suit. He had no wings, and he had no tail.
He had been returned to metahuman form. It looked as though he could never truly die. His "death" had sent him back to Earth 1.
Well, maybe not Earth 1. He was really on Earth-X.
Author's Note
Of course if the show ever comes up with an alternative explanation as to how he survived, consider it an alternate universe. In any event I might Discontinuity Season 4 of The Flash, etc. (aside from how Barry gets out of the Speed Force) because he doesn't give any real reason why he survived this time, he just survived his death because he just did. If anything his "death" just teleported him to Earth-X as of canon, but I spiced it up in this fanfic.
