The legend of Spyro: ponies in the dragon realm
Dun Tynne
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWalking through the dark woods, similar to that of the Everfree forest, but much more eerier the girls huddled close together as Allan and the dragons took the lead, the air smelled of decay as they wondered deeper into the woods, looking around, the girls could swear the trees took form into hideous faces, Fluttershy was lucky to have stayed behind to look after the kids otherwise she'd be close to, if not crying by now. Up ahead a faint glitter of silver caught Rarity's eye. "Ooohhh what's that up ahead?"
"Spider web. Big one too."
"How big?" Twilight asked, Allan pointed up and they saw webs upon webs that covered most of the tree tops, the sight alone was enough to let their imagination run wild. Heading deeper in the air seemed to have gotten thinner, almost to the point of hallucinations but they powered on through when they saw the siloute of the castle peaking from the top of a hill. Reaching the end of the forest the came to a stone bridge that connected to Dun Tynne...or what remained of it. The fortress was all but in ruins, it's walls were crumbling down, its towers no longer stood tall, spike cover vines gripped the fortress as though they were squeezing its last breath out of the fortress. Going in they all had to watch their step otherwise it would be a long fall into an opening in the floor, or a painful one. "Where do we even start looking?" Cynder asked.
"Honostly I don't know." Allan said, something no one wanted to hear."
"Ok...then let's split up." Twilight said, "Applejack, and Pinkie with me. Cadence, Rarity and Rainbow, then you and the dragons."
"Not bad, but I think it best if one of us goes with one of you." Spyro suggested.
"I have to agree Twily, in case we encounter this dragon here." Cadence said and the others nodded in agreement. It was settled, Spyro with Twilight and her group and Cynder went with Cadence and her team as Allan headed off alone, not that he minded. Twilight and her grouped followed a hall that seemed to lead deeper into the ruined fortress before coming into what seemed to be a gathering room, large open space with windows off to one side yet it lacked any signs of furniture but then again this place was ancient and had no need of such things. Following their path, they moved off and came into a hall with two doors, one straight ahead and one to the right, taking the one on the right it took them down stairs and they came to a large round room and on the floor had a V in the center of the floor. Looking at each other, Twilight used her magic and lifted the symbol but it didn't budge, instead they heard a faint click and it lifted up on its own, as it raised up they saw it held a skeleton in it, dressed in some of the finest quality clothing that would make Rarity jealous. Black and gold trench coat, a black vest, long black leather skirt with a V emblem with a red stone pants and boots, a gold medallion around its neck.
"Who was this? Applejack asked. "They seemed rather wealthy."
"I believe this was Viktor, Lord of this estate." Spyro said, walking closer to the skeleton, "yeah this has to be him...let's put him back down and see what's upstairs."
Twilight used her magic to place the remains of Viktor back to rest and headed up.
Up above, Cadence and her group were near the main entrance, where statues stood guard, a cloak hid their face, armored hands held their swords, ready to spring to life without warning, causiouly they moved slowly, not wanting to disturb them in case they do in fact have a spell on them. Coming to a set of stairs, they followed it down, spiralling until they came to what it seemed to be a resting place as they saw bunkers with skeletons, each wore a suit of armor, weapons in hands but as they went deeper they saw a number of cages hanging from the ceiling and skeletons on the floor. "Where are we...a resting place or a dungeon?" Rarity asked, looking back over to the resting skeletons.
"Both maybe, the cages hanging suggest this to be a torture chamber, where as the skeletons resting might have been warriors and this was once a tomb to rest in." Cynder said just by what they saw. They headed back up knowing they wouldn't find anything here but the dead. Head up they heard a spin chilling shriek they soon picked up the past and ran towards the sound of the shriek, racing through the dark halls until they came to an opening, exposed staircases, the far wall no longer existed, one of the stair cases was Twilight and her group, one of them must screamed that is until they saw wraiths circling Allan, but unlike the wendigos in Equestria these ones walked similar to Allan, carring various weapons, their eyes glowed an eerie green each would attack from different directions but they were all blocked and as they left an opening Allan took that chance driving his blade through the wraith and it gave that shrilling shriek before it vanished, B-but more kept coming.
"The eye is down in that room go now!" He shouted pointing to an open door that lead down to a room. Rainbow Dash swooped down but got blocked by one of the wraiths and was forced to back off before a purple beam of magic struck the wraith but the rainbow maned pegasus stood back and flew around the wraiths, creating a distraction as the wraiths swung at her and Allan attacked them. Twilight raced for the room but teleported away to avoid having her head lopped off these wraiths were much faster then expected, Applejack, Pinkie gave it a shot but they were despite to keep the door out of their reach, but with each attempt, the wraiths reaction was growing slower as the ponies and the two dragons joined the fight. Spyro blasted one off the edge and it vanished giving Cadence an opening, running down the stairs, using her magic to blast down the door and she moved down before coming to a rather empty room nearly as she saw the dragon eye floating in the middle of the room. Cautiously walking up to it, she tapped it with her hoof, thinking it would have given her more power but yet nothing happened taking the amulet she then headed up and found it was quiet, the wraiths were gone, her friends on edge...waiting for the next attack to come.
"Did...did we win...?" She asked. The question hung in the air as the tension started to die down.
"Yeah I think so" Cynder said but she said it too early as a jet of fire fell from the sky, Spyro reacted seconds later, forming a shield around the open area, protecting his mate and friends as the fire spread across the shield.
"I must thank you for finding the dragon eye form me, you may hand it over." A voice came from above, and once they looked up sure enough it was the fire dragon from the North, but something was off, in the center of his chest glowed a splinter of the dark crystal, not enough to grant him power over his foes but enough to heal a majority of his wounds.
"How did you survive my attack?" Spyro snarled.
"It wasn't easy I issure you...once you left, my body smoldering from the blue lightning I was barely breathing, the electricity made it painful to just breath, and once the guards were done prodding my with their spears, claws what have you and left. I crawled my way to my chambers...no doubt destroyed by one of you two gentlemen, as well as my gem...tore a single shard and stabbed myself with it, embedding it into my very flesh where it healed the majority of my wounds as you can see. Then I returned South were I had time to heal and continue my research into finding that very artifact your lovely friend is holding...so will you hand it over nicely or do we need to go another round?" Spyro growled at his foe giving his answer. "Very well but this time I will not be out numbered."
His gem glowed and it spread out across the strong hold, though it did nothing to those on top but down below in the chambers those who were once dead breathed new life as their bodies were reformed, flesh and blood flood through them once more, their eyes shined a dark purple, much like the crystal shard. Climbing out of their tombs, weapons in hands they walked up to the surface, there the group heard the sound off armored soldiers coming, the moaning sounds as the undead drew nearer before long they encircled the area with their master high in the sky laughing at his victory, though it might be a premature one.
