Monster in the storm
I saw a monster
Load Full StorySweetie Belle laughed as another snowball was thrown at her face, causing her to fall backwards onto a pile of snow. Getting back onto her hooves the little alabaster unicorn filly peeked over her little snow wall she had made to protect herself from the enemy. She could barely make out the two snow covered hats of the two humans that hid on the other side.
Smirking she light up her horn in a green aura and levitated two snowballs from the small pile she had next to her. Suddenly the two humans faces popped out from their cover and threw four snowballs at the filly, all whom missed their target. Sweetie smirked and returned fire hitting the two in the face.
"Alright, alright, we give up, we give up", one of the two humans said laughing as they exited their little fort.
"So I win?" Sweetie asked with a bit of suspicion laced in her voice. The humans pointed into their fort.
"We ran out of amo, kid." Sweetie smiled in triumph at her success.
"That makes four in a row", the female human said with a sigh. Sweetie nodded in agreement. "Sadly, Belle we can't play another game."
Sweetie sighed and looked up to face the sky, which was getting darker as the minutes drew closer to night. Nodding she and the two humans left to their respected homes, promising to play again the next day.
Swetie slowly walked through her small side of the woods that lead to her house. She enjoyed how the snow crunched against her hooves and the cool wind that blew against her white coat. She had always loved winter, especially when Christmas was just around the corner, meaning tomorrow and she couldn't wait.
As she walked she noticed that the wind was beginning to pick up and snow was being blown across her face.
Almost home, she thought to herself. After a few minutes she was caught in a full on blizzered. She tried to find where she was, but all Sweetie knew was that she was out of the forest part of her home. Looking around, she tried to find the lights to her home, but as she looked through the blinding snow she couldn't find any trace of light.
Maybe Mom and Dad turned them off? She thought. Then she realized how doubtful that was.
Suddenly it hit her, like a speeding train. She was lost, lost in a freezing blizzard. Sweetie Belle froze in her tracks and turned her head back to face the forest. Yet, all she saw was a large blinding wall of wind and snow. She couldn't take it, the fear of being lost, the fear of not being found, the fear of dying. She felt the first few tears fall down her numb cheeks and fell to her knees crying her eyes out.
As she cried she began to notice a strainge sound coming from somewhere around her. Raising her head Sweetie Belle looked around trying to find the noice. Then she heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind her. Turning around Sweetie Belle saw a tall sillowhett of a human standing a few feet in front of her. She noticed it wore a long dark brown cloak with a hood that covered its face.
"Hello? Sir, can you help me?" She called over the howling wind. The figure didn't answer, instead it turned around and began to walk in the other direction. Suddenly Sweetie noticed something, something she hadn't seen when she had first seen the man, as he turned Sweetie could see what looked to be a pair of horns poking from under the figures hood.
With no other choice and wanting to find her way home the filly followed the strainge being.
As Sweetie tried to follow the man she noticed no matter how fast she tried to run to catch up with the man he would always be several feet in front of her.
"Can... can y you slow d down?" She panted trying to fight the freezing cold that made her legs shiver. Suddenly she felt something large and warm rapped around her. Looking up Sweetie saw that the being had shed its cloak off and rapped it around her, she also saw that he was now carrying a lantern in one hand and his hood prevented her from seeing his face.
"T thank y y you", Sweetie Belle said her teeth still shook from the cold. The being didn't say anything only nodded and returned to walking.
Sweetie followed with a determination she only felt when she was going on an adventure with her friends. Except she was following a strange monster and she was completely alone, what could possibly go wrong?"
The being gave a bit of a snort of laughter, as if he thought something was funny.
"What's so funny?" Sweetie asked. The man simply shook its head as if he was telling her not to worry about it.
As the minutes dragged on Sweetie began to notice things she would see around her house. To her left she could barely make out the frozen lake her and her dad would skate on. To her right she could make out her dads red pick up truck that was now covered in snow. Looking to the strange being Sweetie saw that it had stopped in front of a wooden gate that lead up to her house where she could see the lights through the windows.
The figure gestured towards the the front door with the lantern. Sweetie Belle gave a greatful smile towards the being and ran through the open gate, then she paused and turned back to face the man.
"Why don't you come in, its really cold and my dad would like to meet you Mr." the being gave a small chuckle, but shook its head. Sweetie frowned and remembered his cloak he loaned to her. Levitating the thick heavy fabric she floated back to him. Reaching out with his one free hand the figure grabbed his cloak and in one swift motion swung it back onto his shoulders and around his body. Then he pulled out something from his cloak and flicked it to the young filly. Sweetie saw three glints of gold before catching it in her magic.
Looking down in her aura she saw that the man had given her a golden neckless with a small diamond hanging from it. The strange thing was, the neckless was something she had begged for Christmas, but her parents couldn't afford it. Looking back she was about to thank the man again but only saw an empty patch of snow where the cloaked figure stood. Looking around for him Sweetie couldn't see him. Sighing she turned and headed into her home where she could smell her adopted parents making cookies.
"Hey, kid, where were you?" Her father asked when he saw her walk into the kitchen.
"Well, I saw a monster in the storm", she said using her magic to steel one of the already made batches of cookies. The two adults gave confused looks towards their daughter, but figured it was just her imagination.
