There were two alicorn princesses in Equestria. The older one raised the sun, and the younger one raised the moon. Everyone knew that. However, ten years ago, the older one became a tyrant and turned into Day Breaker. She was cruel and burned anyone who went in her way. Not only did she leave the sun up in the sky, she made the weather really hot causing ponies to have no water, food, and homes. She didn't care for the ponies and made Equestria a desert. Her younger sister begged her to stop, but she didn't listen. To save Equestria, the younger alicorn had to use a dark spell to banish her sister to the sun. It had hurt losing her sister, but it hurt someone else. Sunset Shimmer.

A shadowy figure sneaked past the guards in the empty hallways of the Canterlot Castle and made its way toward the forbidden part of the library. A red aura surrounded its horn as it picked the doors lock. A quiet click made the figure smirk. It opened the door and entered the room. For the past two hours, the figure read.

"Finally! I found it," the figure whispered. Its horn lit up even brighter and revealed itself as an orange mare with a red and yellow mane. She quickly memorized what was on the page and put the book back on the shelf. She quietly walked out of the room and closed the door shut.

"What were you doing Sunset Shimmer?" a calm and clear voice asked. Sunset quickly turned around. It was princess Luna and she did not look happy.

"None of your business, Luna," Sunset growled.

The alicorn sighed in disappointment, "I have told you a million times, you can't go in there. It is the forbidden section for a reason. If you keep doing this, I won't have any choice but to take your punishments more seriously. I don't want to do anything more than grounding you."

"Why do you care? You didn't seem to care when you trapped mom in the sun," Sunset hissed. Luna's eyes widened and frowned. She was about to say something until her bat guards came to her side and grabbed their weapons. Sunset rolled her eyes and charged up her horn.

"Stand down!" Luna ordered. The bat ponies nodded and put back their weapons, but still stood by her side. "You know that's what I had to do to save Equestria. I understand your upset, but-"

"Upset? UPSET!? I'm not just upset! You took away the one pony who cared about me! She took me in and helped me! She was like a mother to me! But now she's gone, because of you! I bet you were just jealous of her power! Equestria would be better with her and without you!" Sunset yelled. Tears were streaming down her face and glared at Luna with hate in her eyes. Luna froze and felt as if she had been stabbed. Sunset's horn glowed and sent a fire ball towards Luna. Luna recovered quickly and blocked it. The bat guards attacked Sunset all at once. They fought for a few minutes before Luna had enough.

"STOP THIS INSTANT!" Luna commanded in her canterlot voice. Everyone got surrounded in a blue aura and froze as Luna continued, "Sunset, I'm very disappointed in you. You are to stay in your room until I can think of a proper punishment for your actions. Guards, return to your stations." Sunset grumbled and went to her room, and the guards left. Once everyone was gone, Luna sighed and a small tear went down her face.

"Whatever, I got what I need anyways," Sunset muttered. She sat down on her bed and sighed.

"You okay?" a friendly voice asked. Sunset turned to face her assistant Philomena, a phoenix.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Sunset responded with a smile. Her smile soon turned into a evil grin, which turned Philomena's smile into a worried frown. "Guess what Philo! I did it! I found a way to get mom back!" Philomena's eyes widened in shock.

"Really? How?" She asked.

"Well, you know how I've been sneaking into the forbidden section of the library?" Philomena nodded. "I read one of those old books and was able to find the perfect spell to free mom from her prison! I'm finally going to see mom again after ten years!" Sunset horn glowed and showed Philomena the spell. Philomena looked over the spell and gasped.

"Sunset, this spell requires the use of dark magic! This is dangerous!"

"It's worth the risk!" Sunset argued.

"Is it really? I mean, I miss her a lot too, but she went crazy! She turned Equestria into a desert and ponies were suffering. She only cared about herself, who knows-" Philomena reasoned, until she was cut off by Sunset.

"She didn't only care about herself! She cared about ME! And, she just changed ways of ruling. Equestria was just adjusting to that. Things were going to get better! A kingdom where only the strongest live! it's perfect! Nobody would slow us down and cause trouble!"

"Yeah, but everyone has strengths AND weaknesses. Besides, just because someone is weak now doesn't mean they will cause trouble or never get stronger in the future! YOU should know that from experience." Philomena said. The last statement caught Sunset off guard.

A orange filly shivered as a gust of wind blew past her. She curled up into a ball in her box on the street hoping to get warmer. Another cold and lonely day was about to come to an end. She had finished begging for food and money and was only able to get one bit. Through out the whole day, ponies were either ignoring her or looking at her with disgust.

"Well, what do have here? Looks like a useless piece of garbage," A cruel voice rang out. Sunset groaned. The worst part of her day was when the colts of rich families bullied her. Sunset braced herself for the worst, but then an unfamiliar voice spoke.

"What are you doing?" Sunset opened her eyes to see princess Celestia scaring of the bullies. Sunset opened her mouth in shock. Celestia came over to her with a a soft smile. At first Sunset was scared, but she quickly learned that she had nothing to worry about. She was taken in by Celestia that day.

Sunset was crying and Philomena rushed over to comfort her. "Your right, maybe it is wrong, but mom helped me that day. Now it's my turn to help her. I'm sorry, but I need to do this." Philomena looked at her and gave her a small smile.

"Not alone," Philomena declared, "I'm your assistant and no matter what you choose, I will stand by you. After all, you did hatch me." Sunset looked at Philomena in surprise. She opened her mouth but no words came out. Sunset studied the look on Philomena's face and smiled.

"Alright then, here's the plan."
