When Twilight goes too far and kicks Spike out, he left Ponyville and stumbled across some sort of crystal inside a deep cavern. Little does he know that it harbors a deep, corrupting power inside it.

When a meeting between two species goes wrong, Twilight does the unthinkable and banishes Spike from her castle. Upon wandering around most of Equestria with Starlight and Trixie, he discovered something deep within the caves. Little does he know that the Pony of Shadows had sealed himself away in one of the crystal gems. After it takes hold of him, Spike then uses it the gem to help take revenge on Twilight for throwing him out of her life along with the entire land of Equestria, leaving it up to her to stop him.
