Love is a strange thing

Never has Twilight had a particularly bad morning, but there has been the odd few where she just wanted shut her eyes and go back to bed never to wake up again. If she had to take a wild guess, today was certainly one of those mornings. Specially since she was abruptly woke from a dream she o'so wished was reality. Taking a glance over at her bedside table she looked at the old, brown coloured alarm clock that she got from her brother and sighed. It really did look out of place considering what her castle looked like. Following the arms of her clock she realised just how bad her 'morning' was. 11:38 am. With another loud audible sigh Twilight regretfully got out from under her comfortable and warm blankets and headed out her bedroom door down then big empty hallways towards her bathroom.

Opening the rather large door for a bathroom Twilight walked in and shut it behind her. Looking around the clearly used bathroom she sighed once again. "At least spike is awake.." Twilight mumbled to herself while traversing the puddles and towels on the floor and turning on the shower with her magic. A hot shower was what she needed and today she knew she wasn't going to function without one. opening the curtain twilight stepped in and shut it behind her. She was quickly engulfed with the hot steam the water was producing. With a happy sigh she sat down on her haunches and relaxed. showers always reminded her of something she read in a romance novel a while back. "Showers are the warmth that we need from the pony we don't have, but always wanted." She whispered aloud to herself followed quickly by yet another
long, drawn-out sigh. Deciding the shower was no longer the place Twilight wanted to be she grabbed the soap and shampoo, washing herself as fast as she could before the invading thoughts she had trouble keeping away came crawling back.

"Morning Twilight! I made breakfast for us." Came the little dragons voice from the kitchen. Curse these loud floors.

Stretching, Twilight took in a big breath and gave a small smile in return. "Mm.. good morning Spike." Twilight said as she sat down at the end of the absurdly long kitchen table. Seeing Spike bring over a big stack of pancakes made her stomach rumble like mad. Grabbing the syrup in her magic she quickly poured on a generous amount and dug in. You cant have pancakes without syrup, its law according to Pinkie. Grabbing his own plate Spike sat down next to Twilight and started to chomp on his own stack made with his own assorted gemstones mixed in.

"So, what's on the list today Twilight? Didn't you say something about helping Rainbow Dash with a new trick?" Choking on the pancakes she currently had stuffed in her mouth, Twilight started to cough them up all over the table in front of her.

"What? When did I say that?" She asked while grabbing her napkin to clean the now dirty table. She couldn't recall seeing Rainbow Dash yesterday, let alone her asking if she could have some help with a new trick. Twilight face was one of pure confusion.

Spike raised an eyebrow at Twilights expression. "You said something about that yesterday when you got home, rather late if I might add. I think it was around 10 by the time you walked through the doors."

Twilight was completely lost. Why couldn't she remember what happened last night? What did her and Rainbow do last night to make her memory go so south? She blushed at that thoughts, but quickly dismissed them. "No.. Nothing of the sort.."

With Twilight staring at what seemed like the plains of oblivion, Spike decided to just go and get the dished cleaned up. She had been acting weird all month, ever since her and Rainbow got called by the map on a mission to Prance. Something must have happened on that trip between the two of them, good or bad he couldn't really tell.

Snapping herself out of her little trance, Twilight looked around to find that she was alone. Looking at the clock on the stove she saw it read 12:08. "How long have I been sitting here for?" sitting up from her chair she sighed and walked out of the kitchen and across the hall into the chair room. That's what she liked to call it. Quietly walking in and around the table in the middle she glanced at all the chairs surrounding the table, but mostly at one in particular. The chair with Rainbow's cutie mark on it. Walking up to Rainbow's chair Twilight smiled. She knew what she was feeling was probably almost 100% one sided, but she just couldn't help but want to feel Rainbows touch. To feel something other than emptiness. To feel.. loved. Sighing for what seemed like the 100th time that day, Twilight quickly got sucked out from her thoughts as a rather loud knock on her door emanated loudly throughout the castle.

Walking out from the room she was currently in Twilight headed towards the door some pony was currently knocking on. Reaching the large double doors Twilight grabbed the nobs in her magic and turned them, opening the door and revealing none other than- "Twilight!" Rainbow yelled loudly at her purple friend, startling her more than just a bit. Upon seeing the shocked and scared expression on Twilights face Rainbow couldn't help but giggle.

Quickly snapping herself back to reality for what also felt like the 100th time, Twilight reached out and gave Rainbow a playful punch on the shoulder with her hoof. "Rainbow! What was that for!" Twilight yelled back in revenge. Giggling along with Rainbow, Twilight motioned for her prismatic friend to come in.

Seeing her friend move so she could get in, Rainbow walked in to the large main room of Twilights castle. Looking around the large room always fascinated her. "This room is never gunna get old Twi." Rainbow said using the shortened 'pet' name she came up with for Twilight while on there adventure to Prance. Ever since that trip her and Twilight have gotten pretty close. Hay, yesterday they sat upon a cloud over Pony Ville and cuddled for what seemed like hours. Though Rainbow wasn't sure Twilight remembered that, considering she was completely worn out from the flying session they had.

"Yeah its home I guess.." twilight said following Rainbow into the room. "So, what do I owe the pleasure of your presence miss Dash?" Twilight said in a professional Canterlot accent as she passed her friend and headed towards her room.

With a snort Rainbow smiled at her friends silliness and started to follow Twilight. "Well, You did say you would come with me to the west fields and watch me practice this new trick I've been working on."

Stopping where she was with wide eyes, Twilight felt a bump as Rainbow accidently rain into her. "Wha- uh, you alright Twi?" Rainbow asked inquisitively while looking over at her wing in anger.

"I'm fine, its just.. I honestly don't remember anything from yesterday at all." Twilight said while turning around only to blush a little at her friend who was currently fixing a couple of her feathers on her wing that were out of place.

"Yeah I kind of figured this would happen. You pushed yourself pretty hard yesterday to try and beat me." Rainbow said with a snicker while taking her attention away from her wing and walked up to whisper into Twilights ear. "I still won.." With her purple friend blushing beet red and looking at the ground, curling one of her forelegs around the other in a very cute manner Rainbow started to walk towards her friends room by herself. She loved when Twilight got flustered, it was truly adorkable. She knew Twilight had feelings for her, it was obvious as all hades and she didn't mind at all. In all honesty it wasn't one sided, it's just that Rainbow had only been in one other relationship and.. well.. it didn't go smoothly. It would have never worked out in the end, always fighting and screaming at each other over silly things. It was safe to say that she wasn't friends with that mare anymore. Ever since then she had always been afraid to be in a relationship, especially with someone as important as Twilight. So staying just friends with her was the only thing she could do, at least for now. It was selfish and she knew it.

Without realising it she found her way into Twilights room and decided to sit down on her bed. Soon after she sat down the mare herself walked in and shut the door. "So. Shall we go to the west field then?" Twilight asked questioningly. "I don't have any plans for today considering I woke up late." Grabbing her brush in her magic Twilight started fixing up her mane and tail for the fly she knew they were going to have. Flying always messed up her mane.

"Yeah! Sounds like a plan Twi." Rainbow said while standing up quickly. Her earlier thoughts escaping her, for she was exited to hang with Twilight and also show her the new trick she has been working on for some time now. Looking over to Twilight Rainbow gave a devilish smile and poked the now standing and saddlebag wearing pony. "You're it!" Rainbow yelled and bolted out the now open sky window.

With a sigh and a secret grin Twilight flew out after Rainbow. She knew she couldn't catch up to her and that was alright with her. As long as she was near the cyan pony, she felt safe. She felt.. love.

Author's Note

Alrighty. First chapter is complete and I feel good about this story. Now im not sure when ill get the other chapters out, but they WILL be out so dont fright if you like the story so far.

I had a insperation to write this type of story after finishing the second season of Stranger Things. Such a good show. However this story is not going to be the exact same, it will though incorporate some elements from the show. I have plans for this story and if they come out as I want them to it will be one heck of a ride.

This story will involve some rather steamy parts so.. you have been warned!

Thanks for reading and let me know any typo's so I can fix them. Its been quite the day and I'm tired so there's probably a few!
