Thirty Minute Pony Stories
Roll for Great Power(Prompt 52)
shake, roll
"That is a perfect 20! I will add this to my wisdom!" Trixie Lullamoon, as usual, was in a round of Moons and Monsters with some friends. Oh who am I kidding. They're her acquaintances.
"Man, you get all the best rolls!" Plastic Six was complaining as usual. "Stupid bard with stupid low stats..."
"Trixie does not wish to hear your complaints," she stated bluntly. She rolled again.
shake, roll
"19! This will go to charisma!"
Plastic Six cried. The third player, Table Top, high hoofed her. "As usual, you got the best character so far."
"Trixie knows that. She has 2 more rolls, however. Not that they'll be low."
shake, roll
Trixie gasped. "2!?" Plastic Six laughed his flank off, figuratively. The final player, Player Manual, tapped her on the shoulder. "I believe you should've put that 20 out of luck and into Cooking, ya dumb broad."
WHAM!
Player, as usual, proved he was anything but. He groaned as he sat back up. "Mares...nothing but tr-I mean joy," he retracted as Trixie raised her hoof.
"Trixie will forgive you this time," she said. "You said that every time," Player pointed out.
"Now then, Trixie will prove her worth!" She picked it up, and with all her strength...
shake, roll
It was a natural.
Loving.
1.
Trixie was on the verge of tears, while the others let out a hearty "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!"
"Yeah, you're so amazing, oh Great and Powerful Trixie!" Plastic was having a ball. Trixie's eyes then lit up, for she had an idea. "Trixie has a proposal, and Player, don't you dare speak what you are about to speak," she threatened. Player gulped. Trixie then returned to speaking. "Should I deal the final blow on the final enemy, I shall be known as the Great and Powerful Trixie from now on!"
Table Top sneered. "You are ON." After saying that, Shining Armor ran in.
"Sorry I'm late, carriage lost a wheel!" After panting, he set up his end of the table. "Everypony's sheet set up?"
"Trixie's is," Trixie declared. "Also, should I get the final blow on the final enemy, I shall be known as the Great and Powerful Trixie from now on!"
Shining Armor raised an eyebrow. "Interesting. Now let's begin..."
"The Almighty Mage-Proof Hydra reels in pain!" Shining Armor declared, melodramatically. "The end is at hoof for it!"
Trixie, frustrated, kept tapping the table in thought. How would she get the final blow? She was a mage, and the Hydra was mage-proof. "Could you stop already? It's annoying," Table Top snapped. "Trixie will stop when she gets an idea!" Trixie then stopped. "I use my Charisma to bribe the Hydra into removing its mage-proofiness, or whatever!"
Shining Armor gave the d20 to her. "The Hydra will only be fazed with a natural 20! Good luck!"
"Trixie won't need it," she declared, while shaking it.
shake, roll
Natural.
Loving.
20.
Shining Armor recovered from the shock. "The Hydra, astounded by your charms, agrees. Now is the time to strike!"
Trixie jumped for joy, and then, after composing herself, said, "Trixie casts Starfall."
Table Top, Plastic Six, Player Manual, and Shining Armor all looked in astonishment. "Hope you have that luck again," Plastic Six said. Trixie grabbed the required dice, and rolled.
shake, roll fourfold
- Just one away from success.
Shining Armor laughed. "Not today, Trixie!"
Trixie still had a smirk. "However, that was a ruse. I placed a Fire Trap behind the hydra, remember?"
Shining Armor looked through his notes. When he reached the most recent, all he could utter was an astonished "Holy crap." He put it away. "The Hydra stumbles back from all the stars, and is incinerated by the trap. Trixie killed the Hydra!"
"Ahem. You mean the GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!" she loudly declared, with pride in her voice. All the others applauded. "Wow. You're too good for us," Plastic Six praised. "You are like a real magician!"
The Great and Powerful Trixie had yet another fantastic idea. "Perhaps I shall become one. It was an honor, boys, and I invite you to my first show here, tomorrow at noon!"
"It'll likely suck. Unless you're cooking.," Player Manual said. He was hit once again. "...Nothing but trouble..."
"I can't go. Personal stuff." Plastic Six said.
"I won't," Table Top said. "I'm going to Fillydelphia tomorrow, remember?"
"Oooh, that's rough. I'll have to pass too," Shining Armor said. "I think Cadence wanted to do...something with me," he said with a shrug. "Something about my sister."
The Great and Powerful Trixie rolled her eyes. "Alright then. I suppose I could get a better audience, anyway." She turned around. "Until then," she said while walking off. Once out of earshot, she smiled to herself. "Was there ever any doubt..."
