Twilight was in the main library reading a book while Starlight was studying in her room. While the three hung out in Twilight's castle Starlight got up and decide to take a walk.
She went to Twilight's room to see if she could find a book to read that Twilight had kept separate from all of the other books in the library. She search around and she found the book. She grabbed it with her magic and left Twilight's closet.
She looked at the book and saw that she wanted to read it as it was about magic and that made her want to read it as she had only read a handful of books on the subject. She went to see Twilight as she didn't know if she could read the book or not since it was Twilight's book.
She wondered what exactly Twilight's policy was on books that weren't from her library. She knew that she could check out books from the library in Twilight's castle but she wasn't so sure about books that were in personal places.
If she could borrow the book then she wondered about the possibility of Twilight limiting the days for personal books compared to the week borrow policy of her library. She approached the library and hesitated to go in as she didn't want to annoy Twilight as Twilight was probably working on something.
Starlight knew that she would have to ask Twilight as she didn't want to steal it so she could read it in secret. She wanted to be honest about wanting to have the book. She went to open the door but hesitated and finally she opened the door and entered the library and closed the door behind her.
She saw that Twilight was sitting at a table situated in the castle's library studying a book herself. Starlight went up to Twilight as she hoped that Twilight would let her borrow the book. She stopped and asked Twilight.
"Twilight I was hanging out in my room while I was studying and I decided to walk around and I ended up in your room and I found this old book on magic and I wondered if I could read it for a bit. I know it's a personal book that's not in the library but I just wondered since you let ponies check our books from your library then you should let me check our books from your room so can I please borrow it?" Starlight asked.
Twilight set down her book and looked at Starlight for a few seconds and then looked at the book and then used her magic to grab the book that was about magic that Starlight was holding with her magic and looked through it for a few moments and then set it down.
"Your lucky you didn't damage it! Why were you in my room? Also to answer your question books that are in my room are off limits. I don't care if you live here you are not to try and read my personal collection. You can't borrow my books. You can either check books out from the castle's library or use your own bits to buy a book. Put this back where you found it and try to find the copy of it in my library. Don't ever go into my room again you don't have any reason to go in there! Now go." Twilight said in an angry tone.
Starlight was shocked by Twilight's sudden change of tone. It looked like Twilight was about to blow a fuse. She had no idea the books in Twilight's room weren't available to borrow. She wanted to question Twilight but she knew that wouldn't do any good.
"Alright I'm sorry I'll put it back. Damn your acting like I committed a terrible offense or something!" Starlight said as she walked back to Twilight's room. Starlight was a bit startled by Twilight's reaction. She had never seen Twilight get so furious over a single book.
As Starlight walked back to the Twilight's room she realized that she should avoid taking things from Twilight's room and only check stuff out from the library from now on since Twilight seemed to get so angry over the book.
She got back to Twilight's room and put the book back where she found it. She wondered what would happen if she went back to see Twilight so that Twilight could check out a copy of the book for her.
She knew that it was going to be very awkward for her to check out the book from Twilight's library as she would have to talk to Twilight after Twilight had just freaked out about the book.
Starlight took a deep breath and walked back to the library to see Twilight. She wondered if she would get a further scolding. She wished she hadn't made that mistake as Twilight was now in a grumpy mood and when Twilight was grumpy then usually it was a good idea to avoid her but she couldn't now.
When she got to the library she hesitated to enter only this time she was scared to death to go in, it was going to be so embarrassing to tell Twilight she was checking out the book after what happened but she decided to gather all the strength she could gather and entered the library.
When she walked up to Twilight she slowed down as she saw that Twilight clearly wasn't happy, she almost wanted to hide from her but she decided to get this over with. Twilight got up and went to the section of the library that held the book and then got the book and checked it out for Starlight and gave it to her. Starlight thanked her and before she left Twilight walked up to her and spoke.
"Starlight? If you ever try to take something from my room again I will remove your horn and I will kick you out of the castle and I will never see you again. Don't take stuff that isn't yours. Your horn is coming off the moment you steal from me. Are we clear Starlight?" Twilight asked in a very stern tone.
When Starlight heard what Twilight said she became very scared at that possibility, she didn't want to loose her horn over a book. She wasn't even trying to steal anything. She wanted to question the consequence of stealing a book but decided against that. She stuttered to respond but she spoke to Twilight so that Twilight wouldn't get any madder than she already was.
"I understand Twilight. I promise I won't do it again." Starlight said. Starlight walked back to her room and stayed there for the rest of her night. She had no idea Twilight was that angry. She also thought that removing a horn for stealing something or taking something by accident was a bit to extreme but she didn't question it because she didn't want to get Twilight mad.
Starlight made sure that she would never take something from Twilight's room again.
