//-------------------------------------------------------// Memories of the past -by Demonic Dragon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 of 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 of 3 Discord sighed as he gazed up at the partially cloudy sky. He was currently resting in the branches of a tall oak tree. Watching as the clouds slowly moved across they sky. Normally, he would change the clouds shapes and forms with his magic. But, this time he decided to use something that he hardly used. His imagination. He began to imagine the clouds changing their forms on their own. Some of them looked like animals he liked. While others looked like various foods and buildings. He then focused on one cloud; a small one that had broken off from a larger cloud. Its form changed into that of a certain pegasus. A pegasus that had not only managed to reform him. But, she also managed to steal his heart. He let out an irritated growl while he shook his head. “Why must I feel like this?” He asked himself as his eyes focused on another cloud. He saw her image again. It made him focus on another cloud, again it turned into the pegasus. Again and again; every time he focused on another cloud it would turn into the mare. Eventually he gave up and slithered down the tree like a snake. Once his feet were on the ground he started to walk away from the tree. Keeping his eyes aimed at the ground. Many memories started to rush through his mind. Ones from so long ago; from a time when he was completely alone. Simply because he was who he was. (the past) A young Discord sat sadly on the edge of a large cliff. His body was covered in many bruises and cuts. One of his eyes swollen and black. His ram horn dangled from his head like a broken tree limb. Tears fell from his eyes like rivers. This was something that he was used to; except it was the pain he would never get used too. He was so tired of being different. Tired of being abused and neglected by others. Tired of being a draconiques. Everywhere he would go he would hear screams of terror. Every time he got near the pony kingdom; they would call him a monster. While some screamed at him others would attack him. He would try to run away from his attackers; but in the end he would end up a bloody mess. “I wish I had a friend.” He whimpered out. Eventually he grew tired of crying and used his magic to heal himself. Then with another snap of his fingers he teleported himself; from the edge of a cliff to the inside of damp cave. He found the cave a couple weeks again. It was a decent cave, it kept him sheltered from natures elements, but he often wished he could live like the ponies. He wasn't abandoned by his parent's; they were killed in battle with a rival draconiques. He would've been killed as well if it wasn't for his parents sacrifice. He shook his head not wanting to remember what had happened to them. Instead he took all his frustration out on the cave wall. Using his claws he scratched various images into the wall. When his claws went numb he stopped drawing and walked further into the cave. “I miss you,” He whispered to the silence of the cave. He reach the end of the cave; where a moss bed and blanket waited for him. He gently lay himself on the damp bed; before he pulled the blanket over his body. Neither of them were comfortable but it was better than lying on the hard ground, “I miss you, mom, dad.” He finished as another tear escaped from his eye. He did eventually fall asleep; but his dreams were just cruel reminders of what he could never have. The morning sun slowly rose into the sky; its warm rays stretching far out across the country side. They eventually reached the cave Discord was staying and. It warming light woke him from his horrible nightmare again. He yawned as he rose from his bed. Stretching his entire body out; hearing the various bones cracking in his body. Allowing him to be a little more limber. Slowly, he made his way outside the cave. Allowing him to feel the warming light of the sun. Another yawn escaped his maw as he shook himself awake. With a heavy sigh he used his magic to teleport himself to one of the pony colonies. He found himself sitting in a tree overlooking one of the houses. “Alright,” He said as he put his eagle claw and lion paw to his eyes. Allowing his vision to zoom in and out on the house, “Any minute now,” He said with slight anxiousness in his voice, “Any minute.” When he saw the door open he quickly used his magic to camouflage himself. From the house two earth ponies walked out. One was a ocean blue mare with a matching mane and tail. The other was a lemon yellow stallion with and orange mane and tale. Behind them was an elder earth stallion; who had similar colors to that of the mare. Both the mare and stallion waved goodbye to the stallion; who just stood happily at the doorway. His eyes looking aimlessly towards the sky. When the two were out of sight and the elder had gone back in, Discord, had made his move. Slowly he climbed down from the tree; double-checking to make sure nopony was around. He moved as fast as he could towards the back of the house. Where a stack of firewood and ax waited. He looked over his shoulder once more; then he grabbed the ax and a piece of firewood. He loved doing these random kind acts for the many ponies of the village. It gave him hope that one day somepony would see him as a kind creature. Not a monster from the surrounding forest. But, unfortunately his acts were not getting the attention he wanted. No, sometimes mares would scream he was destroying their flower beds. When really he was weeding and watering them. Sometimes, stallions would attack him; saying he was destroying their homes. When he was really helping repair any damages or making it more durable. Every time he would do something nice; he was rewarded with pain and hatefulness. “So, its you who's been helping us.” A aged voice spoke from behind him. Discord gave a shout of fear as he quickly turned himself around. Dropping the ax and stumbling backwards over the stump he was using. He gasped for air as he slowly backed himself away from the stallion. Who was slowly walking towards him. “Please,” Discord begged in a voice full of fear, “Don't hurt me.” He finished. “Why would I hurt you?” The elder asked in confusion. Discord slowly lifted his head, “Aren't you afra-?” “Please,” The elder interrupted as he lifted one of his forehooves up, “Come closer. I'm blind.” Discord was shocked by what he had just heard. The stallion was blind; which meant that the stallion could not see him. It meant that he could not see what he was. Slowly he walked closer and closer to the stallion. Eventually he was close enough for the stallion to touch him. He flinched out of instinct when the old stallions hoof touched him. “No, no, please,” He begged as he waved his hoof back towards him, “Don't be afraid.” He finished. But, Discord was afraid. He was afraid of what the stallion would do when he felt what he was. Afraid of what the stallion may do to him. Afraid of being beaten for just who he was. With a deep breath he walked close to the stallion. When the old stallions hoof touched him once again; his body stiffened, and his heart rate increased. The stallion gently rubbed his hoof up and down his side. Making him shudder a little in fear. “Ah, you're a draconiques.” The stallion said in a voice void of emotion. Discord, was now on the verge of full blown panic attack. No, a heart attack. The old stallion knew exactly what he was. He knew that he was a draconiques. Which meant that he was about to be beaten once again. But, this time he might not be walking away. He began to sweat heavily. His breathing increasing with each passing second. His hear beating so hard; he swore it was about to leap from his chest. The stallion then released a gentle chuckle, “Thank you.” The stallion thanked him. “Wh-What?” Discord asked as he looked up towards the stallion. Confused and taken aback by the kind words. “Thank you,” The stallion thanked him again with a gentle smile, “Thank you for helping me and my family.” He finished completely unaware of the tears the young draconiques was crying. The stallion invited the young draconequi into his lovely home. Once inside he sat him down at the table. Before pour him and himself a cup of warm tea. At that point they began to speak to one another. Almost as if they had known each other for a very long time. The stallion told Discord of his long and eventful life. How he was part of the battle of the diamond fields. How he met his departed beloved. When his first and only daughter was born. The sad part that brought Discord to tears was of his beloveds death. How he lay next to her as she entered the next life. Discord was shedding a few more tears now. But, eventually he did regain his composure and began to tell his tale. Discord was very young so his story was not long. But, it was filled with much sadness and anger. How his parents were killed by a rival. How he was ousted and alienated by the ponies. How he was beaten without mercy; all because he was what he was. After he reached the end of his story; the stallion reached forward and gently grasped his talon hand. Trying to give comfort to the young draconiques. “Thank you,” Discord cried before he disappeared and reappeared next to the stallion. Allowing him to hug the stallion. The stallion returned his hug with a caring hug of his own. Allowing the young draconiques to cry into his side. Unfortunately all good things had to come to an end. But, this end was a very unhappy end. For the door had opened and his daughter and son-in-law walked in. His daughter screamed in horror and eventually fainted. While her husband proceeded to beat the life out of Discord. The elder begged and begged for him to stop. While Discords cries of mercy echoed through the cabin. (The present.) A single tear escaped from Discords eye and fell into the fountains pool. Sending a small ripple effect along the waters surface. He was unaware that he had actually reached the center of Ponyville. He also never noticed the current time of day. The sun was just barely setting beyond the horizon; just as the calming moon began its slow ascent into the sky. He sat himself down on the ring of the fountain; brought his lion paw up to eyes and wiped them free of his tears. But, that was his very first and last true friend of that time. But, that day was also when he embraced the true power of his magic. The day he became the lord of chaos. The day he truly became the monster everypony saw him as. Discord jumped when he felt a gentle touch on his talon. Looking to his left; he saw the one who reminded him of the gentle soul he once was. The one who reformed him and showed him the way. Beside him sat Fluttershy who stared at him with worry. “Fluttershy?” Discord asked. “Discord, why are you crying?” She asked him. She always found this activity relaxing; a way to unwind after feeding and caring for all her animals. With a gentle flap of her wings she flew to another part of her garden. It didn't take long for her to finish watering her garden. As she flew back to her cottage she began to hear a strange chanting. She quickly landed and began listening to the chanting. She could hear the sound of a drum beating along with the chanting; accompanied by the smell of a campfire. She shook her before setting down the watering can and taking to the sky once again. She flew in the direction where she heard the chanting and drumming coming from. Eventually she found the source; a friend of hers and Discords. The human-draconequus hybrid known only as Spirit. Spirit soon stopped his chanting and drumming,”Fluttershy,” He spoke in a calm and soothing voice, “The spirits said you would come.” He finished. Fluttershy grew worried when she hear him say that. Every time Spirit had talked to his ancestral spirits; they would give him glimpses into the future. It made her remember the last time when he spoke to them. It involved him, herself, Discord, and Freak entering the realm of nightmares. She shuddered and groaned as she remembered what she saw. Which makes her thankful for the dream spell she had Discord cast on her. So, obviously she was worried about what he was about to say. “Wha-What did they say?” She asked. Spirit motioned for her to come and sit beside him. She wanted to refuse but she also didn't want to seem rude. So, out of her unconditional kindness she sat beside him. In front of the two was a small campfire. Barely keeping its light for the wood was nearly burnt to ash. Before she could even say anything. Spirit, had grabbed some dirt and threw it into the fire. The shot up from the wood with a loud whooshing sound. Its color shifting from a beautiful blue; to mesmerizing purple. In the fire she saw Discord sitting on the ring of the Ponyville fountain. He was looking down into the water. A sad look was etched onto his face and tears feel from his eyes. “Discord?” Fluttershy asked in a curious voice. Resisting the urge to reach out towards the image that hovered in the fire. “Go to him.” Spirit said in a voice void of all emotion. Fluttershy obeyed the command without hesitation. She flew through the sky gracefully and by the time she reached the town; it was already late in the afternoon. She walked the remainder of the way. So, that her wings could rest. She did eventually reach where he was. She saw him sitting on its ring looking down into the water. He seemed to be in deep though. Slowly, she walked up to him and gently touch his lion arm. He jumped a little after feeling her touch. When he turned to look at her; she could see the dried tear streaks on his face. “Fluttershy?” He asked. Discord,” She began before holding his lion pawn with both of her hooves, “Why are you crying?” She asked. The first answer she received was a very sad sigh. He then looked back down into the water. Fluttershy, was going to ask him if he was okay. But, he stopped her by lifting up his talon hand. He sighed heavily again before he finally spoke. “Fluttershy?” He asked. “Yes.” She replied with a worried tone. “Have you ever felt like a monster?” He asked his vision still cast down to the water below. Another tear escaping from his eye. It feel from his eyes and landed in the water below. The question made Fluttershy gasp; while at the same time it made her worry grow even more. Did he find out what happened to her so long ago? Was he upset that she never told him? Was he mad at her? Or worse was he made at her friends. Shaking her head she moved to his right and stood next to him. “No,” She uneasily lied, “Why do you ask?” She finished. “Because I know what its like,” He answered with a loud growl, “I know what it's like to be a monster!” He finished before slashing the water with his talon hand. Causing his image to disappear. Fluttershy had seen him made before. But, it was nothing like this. Gently she touch his lion paw again. He looked at her with anger in his eyes; making her instinctively back away. Almost immediately his look of anger changed to one of sorrow. Once she saw the look on his face; she quickly got to his side again. Gently hugging him as he hugged her in return. “I'm sorry.” He quickly apologized. “Don't be,” Fluttershy spoke in a voice barely above a whisper, “Discord, why would you call yourself a monster?” She asked. Rather than telling her why he said that. He decided to show her. He gently pressed his forehead against her. Their eyes began to glow white; allowing Discord to share his memories with her. After a few short seconds they separated. Both of them were crying and soon they were hugging each other again. “I'm sorry,” Fluttershy quietly sobbed into his shoulder, “I'm so sorry.” She apologized not because of the lie she had told him. But, because she was not there for him when he needed a friend the most. “Don't be,” He spoke in a gentle voice as he pulled her closer to his chest. Using his lion paw to gentle rub the back of her head, “There was nothing you could have done.” He finished. For the next few minutes they just held each close. Eventually they did manage to calm each other down. For now just simply holding the other provided comfort. Fluttershy gentle rubbed her head against his neck. While Discord continued to gentle rub the back of her head. It was then Discord heard her say something. But, it was muffled by his neck. “What was that dear?” He asked. Fluttershy moved away from him; just enough to look him in the eye. “I said that I know,” She spoke in a soft voice as one of her hooves moved to the back of his head, “Let me show you.” She then pulled his head down to hers. Touching their foreheads together once more. Their eyes began to glow again and their memories were shared once more. But, Discord found himself quite surprised by this. Not by what she was showing him; but how she was showing him. For, he was not casting the spell. Somehow Fluttershy was the one casting it. They soon separated and were left staring at one another. “You were.” He began before he was interrupted by her. “A vampire-pony,” She interrupted him before casting her gaze downward. Not wanting to look him in the eyes, “I also know how it feels to be monster,” She then began to cry, “Because I was a monster.” She finished. “No!” Discord said in a disgusted voice; which caused her to look up at him, “You are not like me,” He continued with tears in his eyes, “You're not a monster like me.” He finished. Fluttershy felt a heaviness on her heart and voice climbing up her throat. Eventually her voice escaped her maw in the form of a loud, “No!” She almost screamed before hugging him tightly. “You're not a monster! You're not a monster! You're....not....a....monster!” She spoke in a hurt voice. Discord was already rubbing the back of her head again. Shushing her as he did his best to keep from breaking down himself. He hated seeing her like this. It would always bring him close to tears as well. When he looked to the sky he saw that the sun had already set. With a snap of his fingers he teleported them to her cottage. Her cottage was dark and quiet; ideal for anypony who wanted a good-night's rest. Slowly he walked up the stairs to her bedroom. Holding her close as rested her head against his chest. When he entered her bedroom; he made his way to her bed. Using his magic to only pull the covers back. So, that he could tuck her in. Trying to be a gentle as he could; he layed her down onto her bed. But, before he could pull the covers over her. She had taken his paw in her hoof once more. He looked to her eyes and saw a wanting look. Almost like he had read her mind; he joined her in the bed. Pulling the covers over both of them as they moved closer together. They stared into each others eyes. Slowly their heads began to move closer and closer together. They caught one last glimpse of each other; before their eyes closed. Then time for them stood still as they kissed each other for the very first time. The kiss felt like an eternity for them. They felt the spark of love ignite their fire of passion. Soon a moan escaped from both of them. Followed quickly by both of them deepening the kiss. Eventually their kiss ended and they saw the position they were in. Fluttershy was underneath Discord; her wings draped over his back, and her hooves wrapped around his neck. Discord kept himself propped up on his hands. So, he would not crush her. In the moonlight the pegasus underneath him glowed. He couldn't stop himself and soon he found himself gently kissing her neck. He could hear a small gasp escape her maw once more. Soon he began to gently lick her neck. Once he was done he looked her in the eyes again. Their eyes seemed to shimmer. Fluttershy then moved her head close to his ear and in a voice just above a whisper, “Please, be gentle.” She spoke. Discord went still for a moment until he gently kissed her again. Once the broke the kiss; he intertwined her tail with his. He took one of her hooves in his hands. Before he told her three words he had longed to say, “I love you.” Author's Note Chapter 2 enjoy.
