In a final attempt to save her kingdom from Chrysalis' armies, Celestia took an almighty gamble. Unleashing upon her attackers an ancient, undocumented spell, all seemed to be looking up—until it transpired that she had unknowingly poisoned the entire land with an incurable disease.

Now, a century on from that fateful day, one mare must flee the sanctuary of her home to face the Scourge; the ravaged remains of what was once Equestria. With danger around every corner, things are looking bleak. However, with the help of friends and allies, will she be able to find the glimmers of hope amidst the decay and death, or will the Plague claim more victims for its own?
