It is for the best …

“Welcome to the Carousel Boutique the most marvelous, fashionable and fabulous!”

Irritated by her highly decorated greeting, Twilight Sparkle paced her way towards her most sophisticated friend.

“Rarity I seen the place a billion times! You don’t have to salute me like I’m a customer”

“Oh please Twilight I’m just beaming the category of my shop a little, so feign to be impressed”

Rolling her eyes Twilight opened her saddle bag and levitated a white refined sheet of fabric out of it. Rarity’s eyes lit as stars.

“Twilight … is this?”

“Yes, magically enhanced silk. It was easy to develop once I got Spike to not eat the rare minerals”

Rarity’s eyes flashed with excitement as she observed the silk drop on the counter. An expression of disbelief marked her face as her hooves hesitated over the silk.

“Undetermined durability, unnatural texture and endless stainlessness, Twilight with this silk I can compose the most valuable and rarest dresses!”

With a proud smile Twilight watched Rarity fold the silk in the most professional and delicate manner possible.

“Oh Twilight, you know what this means to me! How could I ever pay you back?”

“Is okay, we are friends”

Twilight’s face dimmed in sadness as she remembered the reason she came for.

“Actually … I came to speak with you about Fluttershy”

“What about it? Wait, is it about the note?” Her smile sorted out into a frown.
Twilight admitted with a nod.

“Oh Twilight …”

Rarity reminded her how the note found in Fluttershy’s cottage explained in detail she would be in the Everfree forest for several days or weeks caring for phoenix nests which are very vulnerable in this period of the season.

“Fluttershy is an animal caretaker. That is her profession and passion”

Twilight looked at Rarity in the eyes unconvinced. Rarity manipulated the truth even more.

“Fluttershy is a grown Pegasi definitely capable of taking care inside the tremendous forest”

“I know, what upsets me is how she suddenly left without telling anybody!” Twilight argued still unconvinced.

Rarity rolled her eyes and lip synched the word “paranoia” a little more visible than she meant to. Noticing this Twilight blushed and glanced at her furiously.

“RARITY!”

“Twilight, dear you double-checked the note and verified yourself it was her writing. It is time you trust the facts and stop worrying over hasard superstitions”

Twilight recognized the French for random. She felt showered by rain of indignity.

“Random!? You think I am random, that I got this from nowhere?!”

Rarity noticed the resentment in her face and tried to swiftly take it back.

“Twilight I didn’t mean …”

“Goodbye Rarity, it’s getting late anyway” Twilight cut her off in an offended tone.

Rarity observed how the undignified unicorn left the store in such a degrading manner

“I just know something isn’t right”

_______________

“Drama Queen”

Rarity vaguely judged Twilight’s verdict about Fluttershy. She waited until she was long gone to levitate the folded silk and secure it inside a wooden drawer. Rarity sighed feeling the awkward air Twilight left in, it pained her to receive such a marvelous gift from Twilight and end their meeting with such kind of tense dialogue. She cared for her friends but she recognized paranoia when she sees it, and it would not tolerated. Her thoughts focused in the recent behavior of Twilight and Rarity decided there was nothing to think about it.

“That is in the past now, besides Twilight can be a psychotic and delusional pony sometimes”

Her Exorbitant shop emptied from any life and light it had before, an ambient caused by the cold night and an absence of clients. Rarity glanced up at the nearest wall-clock in order to verify the time.

“Oh my, it is late! I better get to closing”

As Rarity walked towards the front door her surroundings became strangely silent. Her sets of dresses hanged unnaturally rigid. Rarity sped up her walk a little. Her display of fancy hats washed the store with a chilling sight. Rarity felt the chills traverse her back as she imagined anything moving inside the store. Her nerves would collapse if she witnessed.

The mannequins stood in their place, immobile. She fixated her eyes on one particular mannequin, it looked menacingly alike a living being under the shadows and in her mind lingered the thoughts of it moving. One inch is all it had to move for Rarity’s world to come apart.

“Come on Rarity it is just a mannequin! You work with it every day! What is it going to be next? Are you going to be freighted by the measuring tape?”

Rarity chuckled and took a deep breath before walking towards the front door. Through the spotless glass she could distinguish a silhouette impossible to identify. The silhouette leisurely walked towards the entrance until it was close enough for Rarity to see it was some pony.

“A customer, at this time?”

The front door opened letting in cool chills of autumn. Rarity shivered and inquisitively stared at her costumer which had a mysterious aspect. Rarity didn’t hesitate to talk to him.

“I am sorry Sir but we are closed”

The stranger kept walking towards the counter disregarding what Rarity said. He stood behind the counter and leaned his head up searching for its owner.

“Ha, persistent one isn’t you? Well I believe it’s not too late to attend another client”

Rarity entered in business mode but didn’t apply her wonderful greeting. She went right to the point.

“May I interest you in my diverse line of cosmetics or maybe in my exotic collection of dresses for your very special pony?

The customer ignored her sayings and attentively observed her store, almost as if recording and examining every feature and characteristic of it, or he was just looking for possible escape routes. His eyes fixated on the ceiling for a second and then returned to keep looking around.

“What is he looking for?” Rarity immediately cleared her throat and readied to speak.

“Perhaps you are looking for formal wearing, such as tuxedos?

The customer twitched his ear forward and slowly rotated his eyes to Rarity. He smiled and denied by moving his head sideways. Rarity looked at him thoughtfully and excitedly guessed what he wanted.

“Oh I know! You are definitely looking for a hat. Come with me, I will show the finest selection of hats in all Ponyville!”

With obvious excitement Rarity skipped towards her display of hats. They entered a swarthy room with many unrecognizable shapes. Once inside, Rarity reached a switch and the room illuminated disposing of every single shadow. She turned and found her client followed in without her noticing, she proceeded to levitate the nearest hat and set it on his head, exclaiming loudly over his new appearance. She kept doing this for several seconds while ignoring her client’s stillness.

Clearly exhausted by her enthusiasm, the customer suddenly stepped towards her. Rarity focused on her client and considered the little space between them to be inappropriate. She felt his breathing of her face and attempted to back away a little, but she discerned a wall behind her impeded it. She tried to speak but she was quickly cut off before she could even think.

“Garments is not what I seek for”

He fixated his eyes directly to hers and leaned closer.

“Actually is in you ... that I’m interested in”

Rarity returned his gaze and noticed his eyes looked calm yet intensely flaming with an unknown emotion. She was aware of the client being an attractive rogue, and that it wasn’t the best time to mingle with a stranger.

“I’ve done it in various occasions, what could possibly go wrong?”

Her confidence instantly surpassed her inquietude. Rarity leaned forward and pecked him in the lips, her client hesitated at first but lastly smiled and returned a gentle kiss right on hers.

“Let us see what you have to offer” <3

The kissing slowly escalated to a smooch, Rarity tasted a slight flavor of vanilla in his lips, probably a usual agent of his vanilla colored coat. The kissing leveled up to making out. He lowered his face a little and tenderly kissed around her neck. Rarity felt a tongue passing along her throat and shoulder. A soft bite in it caused her to spew a low pitched moan.

“… …!”

Rarity’s eyes widened as she desperately tried to yank away from his grasp, at first the pain was irritating but it increased to be unbearable in less than a second. Rarity gasped and pushed, lastly she spewed a despairing cry. She wanted it to stop. Her wails became insurmountably loud, loud enough to be heard outside. He immediately let go of her. Rarity fell down and instantly laid a hoof on her right shoulder; she stared at her own blood in disbelief.

His giggles cracked the silenced open. Rarity got up without thinking once, she ran as fast as she could.

“THE DOOR! ...”

Her thoughts raced inside her head, nearly too fast to comprehend their meaning. She felt in a long time the stimulation of fighting danger, invigorating yet desperate. She tried to seize the front door. it was instantly opaque by his hooded figure, a mysterious client obstructing the door, an ominous shadow eclipsing an escape. Rarity quickly stepped back and ran aimlessly, her attempts to increase distance with him took her to the dormitory. For when she reached the door she turned around to close it, bumped right with him at the moment. She frowned and decided to cast magic. Once her horn was lit silver, her client simply poked her in it and denied her spell. It was surprisingly painful and Rarity made the mistake to close her eyes to endure the pain. She was weakened and under his possession in the brief moment of a wink.

“P-PLEASE WAIT!”

She pleaded from the ground as the aggressor had her pinned down. Rarity yelped, screamed and confronted him. She was easily overpowered by abnormal force. Finally she did all she could, she gave up and cried.

He grinned widely at her and laid a hoof on her wound. Rarity squealed loudly and lost her sanity. He softly shushed her and frivolously apologized.

“Lady Rarity, please forgive me because I couldn’t contain myself”

His tone was so low and gentle she almost took it seriously. Her sad, scared face was replaced by an astonished and disbelieving one, she looked at him in eyes and decided he mean it, or at least that’s what she wanted to belief. She ventured for a disinterest approach. With much effort she readied her voice and tried to convince him to let her go.

“I-Its … fine, just leave me, I will take care” Her voice cracked a little, but it was clear

Several seconds passed. Laughter broke the silence and Rarity gave up hope.

“First ... you think you got a customer, then you thought it was a potential lover, and it turns out to be a ... let say a maniac, funny isn't it?”

His humor made her want to puke. He laughed out loud and then came to a sudden stop. He stared at Rarity with intense, ominous eyes and a hungry grin. She knew more pain was coming and embraced for it. He rubbed his lips down her body and occasionally bit softly. Rarity’s heart pulsated harder and faster overtime, the magnitude of this torture made her wish to end at any price.

“Nice Heartbeat, I always thought unicorn’s hearts pumped the fastest … sadly it’s not true, I verified it’s definitely Pegasus”

Rarity broke on sobs again, she didn’t want to die, but this was more than she could take. She decided she would hope for her wound to finish her.

“Sweetie Belle …”

This thought made her fully aware of the situation. If she died this colt might hurt her or worse.

“… SWEETIE BELLE!!!” She would do everything of her power to not let that happen.

Rarity determined there was no way in tartarus he knew about Sweetie Belle was in the house, but the most he stayed, the most chances to discern about her he had. Underrating her life, Rarity concentrated which was the best thing to do in order to spare Sweetie Belle.

Her thoughts were interrupted by great suffering, her attacker resumed his actions on her. As a knife on butter, his front hooves were steel scraping on soft leather, tearing insignificant but numerous strips off her reluctant prey with supernatural strength. How bad she wished for it to stop. Her cries drowned under the many liquids contained in her mouth, threatening to choke her . For the finale, short, sharp teeth relocated on her shoulder. they gritted. This time it was more than she could stand. Rarity fainted.

_______________

“…”

“…”

“Where am I? How long has it been?”

Rarity woke up on her bed. She ignored little she remembered and discerned it as a bad dream. She didn’t want to move, it will only indicate what she feared. She felt the fresh wounds. She was right, it wasn’t a dream. It was real. Groans of pain revealed her consciousness.

“It was more than you can take, wasn’t it? … Never mind, I’m sorry I waited for you to awake. Is just that it wouldn’t be divertive if I don’t look at sentient eyes when you depart, it misses something and it would be a total waste”

He was lounging on the other side of the bed, mouth painted red scarlet and plausibly containing fragments of Rarity. Rarity wondered but didn’t dare to believe he actually swallowed any of it.

He stood up. The client got on her and drew a curve line on her neck, right over the vital arteries.

“I’m sorry this has to end so soon, but if you don’t die now I won’t have much time to play with the little one”

Rarity suffered badly as he exploited her horrors, her injuries kept her from screaming too loud and moving too hard. Her brain and body were in an intolerable state, this had to end. She said her last words.

“P-Please, oh please! Don’t hurt Sweetie Belle! … she is just a filly … I beg you …” She dripped 2 tears for each word.
He locked his eyes unto her wet ones and asked.

“You love her, don't you?” Rarity used her remaining energy to nod. He rubbed his mane with his hoof "then if you love her, and she loves you ... it will be for best that she joins her big sister, wouldn't it?"

Not loosing time, he gently laid his fangs on her neck, but Rarity remained unflustered, undisturbed. She failed at saving Sweetie Belle. Her mind ceased functioning seconds before the lethal slash. It was right after she acknowledge Sweetie Belle’s fate.

Fluids spread all over the bed and covered his whole face with a bright, sinister red. He breathed vaguely and mopped his face with a handkerchief of his own, he was quiet but indeed satisfied, temporally.

He slowly stood up and got off the bed. He fixated his eyes on the mirror of Rarity’s dormitory. A thick red line drooled from his mouth, it matched his eyes perfectly. He adopted a relaxed attitude and decided it was time to calm down, time to properly settle his acts, because…

The night isn’t over yet.
