A Dash of Advice

Derpy flew through the air, about to make her rounds in in the outskirts of Cloudsdale. Little chat with her boss was still on her mind, as he offered her a raise if she could cover Cloudsdales outer district. Wanting to get more bits, she accepted the position.

On her way, she spotted a familiar rainbow blur land on a cloud. Upon closer inspection, Rainbow Dash was holding a letter and sighing sadly.

Not wanting to see her down, Derpy decided to try and cheer her up. She slowly flew over to the cyan mare and called for her.

“Hi Rainbow Dash!”, she said happily.

Dash, though a bit startled, turned around. Though she was taken back, she still put on her trademark grin.

“Hey Ditzy, what’s up?”, Dash greeted.

Dash used Derpy’s real name whenever they spoke, on account of there history. Dash was actually very friendly around Derpy after she got with Twilight. It was welcome change to when she was a bit grumpier.

“Oh, not much. Just finishing up my rounds before I go home”, Derpy said while wiping off sweat.

Dash was a bit confused. Derpy’s usual mail route wasn’t in the sky, so why was that suddenly the case?

“You deliver up here, now?”, Dash asked.

Derpy happily nodded, and took out a muffin from her bag. Dash decided not to question, it was Derpy after all.

“Yep!”, Derpy said after swallowing the muffin.

“Cool..”, Dash said a bit later.

They were silent for a bit, until Derpy noticed the letter that Dash was holding.

“What’s with the letter?”, Derpy asked.

Dash looked to her and blushed a bit, which shocked Derpy. She never saw Dash blush, and it was honestly a strange site to behold.

“Oh...It’s from a friend of mine”, Dash said with a shy smile.

Derpy took one look at her smile and knew that something was up. She didn’t usually like to poke into her friends personal lives, but she was concerned for her friend.

“Ok, Dash. I don’t mean to be nosy, but can I ask why you’re blushing?”, Derpy asked worriedly.

Dash sighed and eventually spoke up.

“It’s from my coltfriend, Soarin. We haven’t hung out in a while, and I miss him. He wrote very kind words. I came up here to think”, Dash admitted.

“Aw, Dash that’s sweet. Don’t worry, loneliness is just a temporary vacation from happiness. The wait will probably be worth it”, Derpy comforted her friend.

Dash smiled big and gave Derpy a wing hug.

“Thanks, Ditzy. You’re a true friend”, Dash said gratefully.

“Your welcome, I’m always here”, Derpy said.

Derpy then had a scary thought. What if she told Dash about the marriage? What could it hurt, after all?

“Hey Dash?”, Derpy asked nervously.

“Yeah?”, Rainbow asked back.

“I need to tell you something; It’s very important”, Derpy said.

Dash, though suspicious, nodded with a smile.

“Ok, hear me out. I’m thinking about proposing to Twilight, but I’m not sure how or when to do it”, Derpy said timidly.

Dash looked stunned for a bit, but eventually broke out a little grin.

“It’s about time, Ditz. You know, you really make Twilght happy. You’ve got my support, through and through”, Dash said.

“Thanks, Dash”, Derpy said as she hugged her friend.

“You’re welcome; But, there’s somethings you should do if you want her to say yes”, Dash said seriously.

Derpy nodded and gave her full attention.

“Twilight likes thing planned out, so you might wanna take her out on a night on the town, hit the places she likes, and then pop the question under the stars”, Rainbow said wisely.

Derpy nodded, making a mental note along the way.

“I’ll remember that, Dash. Anyway, I’ve gotta get going. The ring isn’t gonna pay for itself”, Derpy said with a laugh.

“Ok, see ya later Ditsy”, Dash said as she got back I looking at her letter.

Derpy took off into the sky and flew towards the city made of clouds.

“Ok , I’ve made my decision!”, Twilght said as she looked up from her book.

“Oooh! Oooh! What is it?!”, Dinky jumped in anticipation.

“I’m going to propose!”, Twilght said happily.

“YES! YES!”, Dinky said while pumping her hoof.

Twilight smiled, but on the inside she was completely confused. She didn’t know the first thing about marriage or proposing. She needed somepony’s help. Somepony smart, somepony close, somepony honest.

“Honest...THAT’S IT!”, she said to herself.

Twilight knew what she had to do. As soon as the sun came up tommorow, she would go see Applejack. She trusted the farmer, so she would be the perfect pony to ask.

Just as Twilight was grinning, Derpy flew in through a window. Twilight turned and smiled brightly at the mare she loved dearly.

“Hey Derpy, how did your day go?”, Twilght asked.

“It was fine, a little boring, but fine. How was yours?”, Derpy asked as she kissed Twilght.

“Boring, but productive; I did discover an old book I forgot I had. That was joy”, Twilght smiled.

Derpy smiled at her marefriends smile, it truly lit her world every time she saw it. It made her impending proposal even more worth the wait.

Twilight loved when Derpy had a grin on her face. It was everything she loved about her in one place. It made the thought of marrying Derpy feel sweeter then sugar.

“Mommy!”, Dinky called as she found her mom.

“Hey, Muffin. Did you have a good day?”, Derpy greeted her child happily.

“Yeah! I played outside all day!”, the filly said innocently.

Derpy loved this kind of think. Just her, her daughter, and her marefriend all living together in happiness. Yet another thing that made her marriage sound heavenly, a family. Twilight was already kinda like Dinky’s second mother, so the change wouldn’t be that drastic.

“Hey Twi?”, Derpy suddenly asked.

“Yeah, sweetie?”, Twilght asked as she put some books on the shelf.

“What did you want for dinner? I’m sure that I can whip us up something”, Derpy asked.

Dinky suddenly piped in and made her opinion.

“CAN WE HAVE PIZZA?!”, Dinky asked.

“I agree! Let’s have some pizza!”, another voice called.

They all turned around and found Spike, holding his suitcases and giving a nice smile.

“Spike! Welcome home, buddy!”, Twilght trotted to him and gave a big hug.

“Thanks, it feels good to be back. So, how about that pizza?”, he asked playfully.

The others laughed and went on to have a nice evening of stories and pizza.
