//-------------------------------------------------------// Tying The Knot -by Fan- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A Lovely Thought //-------------------------------------------------------// A Lovely Thought As the mid-day sun cast it’s rays in Ponyville, a cheerful mail-mare was making her scheduled rounds with a large grin on her face. Derpy Hooves felt that she hadn’t everything she ever wanted in life. A good job, some nice friends, a wonderful daughter, and a loving marefreind. Oh Celestia, how she loved Twilght Sparkle. Her very look sent Derpy into a loving trance. Her voice left Derpy hanging on every word she had to say, and don’t even get her started on those eyes. Those eyes could make even the coldest heart melt. Derpy was happy every hour of every hour of every day and night, and that was because of Twilght. It seems that the princess bled happiness through her beautiful purple coat. That happiness rubbed in every pony Twilght talked to. Yes, Derpy was living her dream life with her dream mare. It was like something out of a story book. Yet, there was one thing that she wanted more than anything. She wanted Twilght’s hoof in marriage. She practically ached for it every time they kissed or embraced. However, and curse her shyness, she could never seem to talk about it to anypony. She had this sinking feeling that if she told anypony, news would spread. And in Ponyville, news spread like jelly on a PB and J sandwich. She was getting tired of dreaming, she wanted it now! As she finished off her last delivery, a desperate thought entered her mind. She wanted to tell somepony, she NEEDED to tell somepony and get advice. It was practically eating her alive everyday, anyway. She pondered nervously as to who she could ask. All the names went over about as well as a led balloon. Then she remembered something very crucial. A certain fashion designer was a romance buff. Of course! Rarity would be perfect for this kind of thing. That settles it, she was gonna go see Rarity and confess her desire to be Mrs. Ditsy Sparkle! She triumphantly strided towards the Carousel Boutique with more passion than a love ballad from a lost decade. She eventually reached the aptly named boutique and knocked on the door. To her shagrin, Rarity wasn’t the the one who answered. Instead, Sweetie Belle answered with a smile. “Hi there, Mrs. Hooves! What brings you here?”, the filly asked with seemingly endless energy. Derpy hadn’t anticipated Sweetie to answer, so this was a major cog in the plan. “Hi there, Sweetie Belle. May I see your sister, please?”, Derpy asked the crusader. “Oh sure! Follow me, m’am”, Sweetie Belle said. The two walked into the house and into the main room. Derpy noticed a little colt with beanie happily singing a tune to himself. He noticed Sweetie Belle and his face lit up. “Hey Sweetie! Who was at the door?”, he asked happily. “It’s just Mrs. Hooves, Button. She wanted to see my sister”, Sweetie said. Button smiled and happily walked towards them. “Hi Dinky’s Mom! Are you having a good day?”, Button asked the mail-mare. “Hello there, Button. Yes, I’m having quite the good day. What about you?”, Derpy asked the cheerful colt. “I’m doing great! Me and Sweetie Belle have been singing all day!”, Button excitedly proclaimed. Sweetie laughed and nuzzled him. Derpy smiled warmly at the little display, it reminded her how special a bond could be. Speaking of a special bond, she still had to go see Rarity! “Wow, that’s cool! Anyway, I’m gonna leave you guys to that. I have to talk to Rarity. Have fun you two!”, Derpy called out as she trotted away. “Bye Dinky’s Mom!”, Button waved. Derpy smiled at Button’s action, he was such a little sweetheart. She eventually found the mare at her sewing machine, happily making a broach. “Uh, hi Rarity”, Derpy shyly greeted. Rarity jumped a bit, and turned to see Derpy’s goofy grin. “Oh, hello Derpy. How’s everything been with Twilght?”, Rarity greeted. “She’s doing fantastic, thanks for asking. How’s everything with Princess Celestia, I heard you guys got together a few months ago?”, Derpy asked back. Rarity dreamily sighed and smiled. “She’s doing absolutely fabulous. Her recent letter was very sweet, she said that her favorite jewel was sparkling in her dreams. It practically melted my heart”, Rarity cooed. Derpy was nervous, now was the time to strike. “That’s great. Anyway, I have something I need to ask you”, Derpy said hesitantly. “Oh? Whatever may that be?”, Rarity said. Derpy took a deep breath and prayed to her lucky star that she wouldn’t make a fool out of herself. After a bit, she began. “Ok, bear with me for a little here, I have this thing I’ve wanted for a awhile”, Derpy started”, The thing is, you’re the only pony who can help me right now”. Rarity saw the mood of her friend change. Derpy was nervous, no doubt about it, but it looked to be something a bit deeper. “I’ve been with Twilight for about 6 months, and it’s been the best time of my life. I never want that to change, Rarity”, Derpy started to say,”What I’m trying to say is, I want to be with Twilight forever”. Rarity nodded and thought for a bit. She didn’t know what Derpy was trying to say. Derpy just scuffed her hoof and whistles comically. “Darling, I’m not sure I follow you. You say that you want to be with Twilight forever? Dear, there’s only one way for that to happen. You’d have to get marri-!”, Rarity shot her head back in suprise. NOW she understood. She gave Derpy a look that both scared her and confused her. Rarity slowly made her grin grow by the second. “D-Darling, d-do you want to tell me something?”, Rarity said in a anticipated type of tone. “Y-Yes, I want to be Twilight’s wife”, Derpy admitted truthfully. The sound that came from Rarity’s mouth wasn’t loud; no, it was merely inescapable to any creature in a five block radius. —————————————————————— “Sister? Are thou ok? I heard a noise”, Luna walked down her sisters hallway. She reached the door and found that it was unlocked. Inside, she found Celestia sitting by her window with a big smile. “Tia, why art thou smiling? Didn’t you hear that noise?”, Luna asked her sister worriedly. Celestia turned back with that same smile. “Believe me, Lulu, I’m perfectly fine”, she laughed as she looked towards the Carousel Boutique. —————————————————————— After Rarity calmed down, chat about the wedding continued. She poured them some tea and sat beside the gray mare. “Derpy, I want you to know that if you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to ask me”, Rarity drunk her favourite tea as she spouted the wisdom. “Uh, that’s why I’m here Rarity. I just want to know some things. How exactly do I do this?”, Derpy asked with heavy desperation. “Well, I say that you do it your way. I can’t tell you when or where to do it, the thought should come naturally. I know it’s difficult, Derpy, but if you give it time, then it’ll work”, Rarity said with confidence. “But what if she says no? I don’t think I could-!”, Derpy was silenced when Rarity’s hoof reached her muzzle. “Darling, you don’t have to worry about a thing. I’ve never seen Twilight be so lively and upbeat, that’s all because of you. If you pop the question, then I’m sure she’ say yes”, Rarity said. Derpy nodded and put hoof to her chin. She thought for a moment about how this could go. In her mind, she hoped that when she proposed, that everything would go well; that nothing bad would happen. She had her doubts, but the thought of being closer to her beloved princess made Derpy grow warmer than Hearts Warming Tree. “Rarity, you’re absolutely right. Twilight has been the back bone I’ve needed, and even though it scares me a bit I’ll make her mine”, Derpy said with confidence that could shatter stone. Rarity clapped her hooves together and smiled brightly. This was going to be fun. All of the dresses, decorations, and bouquets were simply dreamy. However, one look at Derpy’s face calmed her down. The look wasn’t scared per-say, far from it actually. It was a look of both humbleness and determination. “Dear, you have no idea how proud I am of you. Before you got together with Twilight, I just thought you were a humble little mailmare. I was wrong. You’re a strong, beautiful mare with a heart of pure gold”, Rarity complimented. Derpy’s blush was very deep, and it was growing deeper by the second. It was imply the greatest compliment she’d ever received. “Thank you Rarity. I don’t what I would do without you and the others. Now, can we start planning?”, Derpy asked excitedly. “Dear, as much as I would like to plan with you, I have to work on a......Gift.....For a very special mare”, Rarity said as she looked towards Canterlot. Derpy caught on and smiled brightly. “I see, can we do it tomorrow? I wouldn’t want to waste your time right now”, Derpy said. “That’s fine, darling. Anyway, I should get started. My time needs to be lovingly put to this garment”, Rarity said as she longingly stared at the fabric. “Alright Rarity, i’ll see you tomorrow”, Derpy said as she turned to the door. “Tata~!”, Rarity sang back. Derpy walked back into the living room and found Sweetie and Button cuddled up on the couch. She grew a grin and covered them with a nearby blanket. She made her out the door and into the street. Their talk had lasted until evening. Her walk went faster than she hoped for, as in what seemed like minutes she was in front of the castle. She made her way in and saw her love studying at a desk. Twilight was grinning as she worked, something that could’ve put a smile on anypony’s face. “Hey Twi”, Derpy greeted as she trotted behind the chair. Twilight jumped a bit, but quickly regained her composure and greeted her marefreind. “Hey Ditz, how was your little stroll?”, Twilght happily asked. “Very peaceful; how’s your studying going, sugar?”, Derpy pulled a seat beside the princes. Twilight appeared to be reading some kind of alchemy book. The book was pink, with little bikes on the cover. The title was “Alchemy: Everything You’d Want To Know”. “It’s been fine. Apple Bloom came by and asked for a specific kind of brew. She couldn’t pronounce it, but eventually we worked out what it was”, Twilght chuckled at the fillies innocence. Derpy also chuckled, but that was for an entirely different reason. Twilight’s movements were very animated whenever she got excited. It was a downright adorable sight. Twilight noticed her partners dreamy haze and chuckled. “You ok, sleepyhead?”, Twilght asked. Derpy snapped out of it and looked at her love. She was everything she wanted in life; All put together in one amazing, stunning package. “Believe me Twi, I’m just fine”, Derpy chuckled. “Ok; Anyway, I’m tired. You want to go to sleep?”, Twilght asked. Derpy yawned and Twilight chuckled. “I’ll take that as a yes. I’ll meet you up, Dinky just went to bed herself. I tucked her in, but she told me that you always handled the good nights”, Twilght chuckled as she went up the stairs. Derpy smiles brightly and made her way to her daughters room. She opened the door and was almost killed by joy. Dinky was smiling brightly; she must’ve been having a good dream. Derpy trotted over and kissed her daughters forehead. Dinky’s smile grew wider and hugged her teddy more. Derpy emitted a little tear and and made her way out of the room and up the stairs to her love’s room. Twilight was sleeping too; Derpy smiled and crawled in beside her. She snuggled her from behind and kissed Twilight’s ears. She herself soon succumbed to slumber and dreamed of a wedding fit for a queen. //-------------------------------------------------------// Derpy Needs An Aspirin //-------------------------------------------------------// Derpy Needs An Aspirin Derpy thought hard as she hung up her cap. The locker room at Ponyville Post Office was quiet, which provided the silence necessary for thinking. She had a small headache forming as she exited the room. Her thoughts raced as she headed into the main corridor. Her talk with Rarity had been on her mind since she awoke early that morning, and progressed from calm to chaotic as her day progressed. She wasn’t stressed, per-say; She just had a lot on her mind. It was like her emotions were fighting in her brain. Happiness collided with fear as she approached the Carousel Boutique. Derpy took one long, deep breath before she entered the store. The Boutique seemed calm, almost as if nopony had been in the shop at all. “Just a minute~!”, a distant Rarity called from the back. Derpy scuffed her hoof as she waited for the fashionista. She didn’t know how this was going to turn out, in fact the uncertainty was almost unbearable. All of these thoughts were adding up in her already cluttered mind. Rarity entered the main room and immediately noticed that Derpy was lost in her thoughts. She trotted over and tried to greet the mare. “Hello Derpy”, she cheerfully said. It took Derpy a good five seconds to notice her, and when she did she jumped a bit. Derpy blushed heavily and put her hoof behind her head. “H-Hi Rarity; Sorry I kinda blanked out there”, Derpy bashfully said. “Need not, darling. I can tell that you were thinking, about what I can probably guess. Don’t worry, I’m here to sort that out”, Rarity said supportively. “Thanks, Rarity; I don’t know what I’d do with you. Anyway, can we get started?”, Derpy asked. Oh, but of course! Just follow me, dear”, Rarity said as she lead the way upstairs. Derpy followed Rarity upstairs and into her bedroom, which was cluttered with white and gold fabric. Derpy chose not to address it for the time being, seeing as how she had her own worries to settle. “I hope you don’t mind the mess. I was, uh, up a bit late”, Rarity sheepishly grinned. “It’s fine, Rarity”, Derpy said back. Rarity nodded and trotted over to a pair of chairs sat by her window. She motioned for Derpy to sit, and poured them both some herbal tea. “One lump or two?”, Rarity asked. “Oh, uh, I’ll just have one”, Derpy said back. Rarity finished and nudged the tea over to Derpy, who gladly accepted it and took a sip. “Alright, let’s get started. Derpy, I want you to know that I’m here for every question you may have. Don’t be afraid, just breath”, Rarity said. “O-Ok, I do have some ideas and questions”, Derpy said timidly. “Ok, let’s start with some ideas. What’s the one that you think would be best?”, Rarity asked. Derpy thought hard, this wasn’t going to be easy. She had so many ideas, yet they all crashed and burned within her head. There wasn’t a single idea that she found appealing. “Honestly, Rarity, I don’t have a good idea. Every idea I’ve had has been both but false hope. I just want to give Twilght a perfect wedding, no matter what it takes”, Derpy said sadly. Rarity thought for a moment, looking out the window and think hard. “All Derpy wants is to make Twilght happy”, Rarity thought as she turned back to Derpy. Suddenly, I light bulb went off in Rarity’s head. She figured it out! Derpy was only thinking about Twilight, yet she had forgotten to think about HERSELF. “Darling, let me ask you something. What do YOU want?”, Rarity asked. “Rarity, it doesn’t matter what I wa~!”, Derpy was cut off by Rarity’s hoof. “Yes. It. Does. Darling, this is your wedding too. This isn’t only Twilight’s special day, it’s also YOURS. So tell me, what do you want?”, Rarity said seriously. Derpy blushed a bit and shifted in her chair. It was clear that she hadn’t thought of her side of the equation. “Uh....W-Well, I like muffins”, Derpy sheepishly smiled. Rarity gave her a look that a parent might give to a lying foal. “Fine, I’ll tell you. I’ve always wanted a wedding to be both regal and rural at the same time. A fancy look, yet simple ideas is what I mean. Nothing too special, but nothing to plain”, Derpy said. Rarity nodded and though hard. She knew what Derpy meant, but she felt like the gray mare deserved more. Derpy was very hardworking, and she was very loyal to Twilght and the others. “Darling, I like the concept. It’s something that could be easily done and affordable. There’s only one problem, though, dear”, Rarity admitted. “Oh, what do you mean?”, Derpy asked curiously. “Darling, you deserve much more than a simple wedding. You’ve poured your heart and soul into your work and relationships, more so than anypony else has. It would be criminal to give you and Twilight something so traditional, seeing as how you’ve both improved each other’s lives”, Rarity said. Derpy could only look on as Rarity spoke, not even knowing how to respond after she finished. She really didn’t consider herself a “hard worker”, she just wanted to provide enough for her filly. “Rarity, thank you for your kind words. I just don’t want to cause any problems or waste bits on stuff we don’t need”, Derpy admitted. “Darling, you don’t need to worry about the money. Let’s just say I have a “private investor” who is going to fund this. I want to give you everything you could’ve ever dreamed of, and the same goes for Twilight. You both deserve a beautiful ceremony, please just let me give to you”, Rarity asked pleadingly. Derpy couldn’t say no to that, in fact nopony could! Rarity was being so generous right now that even a cranky donkey would accept. Derpy reached over and gave Rarity a quick hug and nuzzle. “Thank you so much, Rarity. I don’t know what we’d all do without you”, Derpy said sweetly. “Don’t thank me, dear. I just want to do what’s right, and what’s more right than giving a wonderful couple a wedding that nopony will ever forget?”, Rarity laughed a bit. Derpy chuckled and went towards the door. “Rarity, I gotta get home. Twilight and Dinky are waiting on me so we can play Parcheesi”, Derpy said. “Very well, dear. Have a safe trip back, tata~!”, Rarity sang goodbye. Derpy exited the building, leaving a very determined Rarity to think. “Don’t worry Derpy, your wedding is going to blow your socks off”, Rarity said before she rushed to her room. //-------------------------------------------------------// Magic is Wonderful //-------------------------------------------------------// Magic is Wonderful Twilight awoke with the sun on her face, bathing her in golden light. She sat up and stretched her legs, letting out a powerful yawn in the process. She felt a sudden emptiness in the room, and her brain caught up to her when she noticed that Derpy wasn’t laying next to her. “Derpy?”, Twilght called. She looked around a bit more, maybe hoping to find the mare putting on her mail uniform. She found the hat and sack sitting by the door, which was very unusual. “I wonder why her stuff is here? Derpy usually never takes days off”, Twilght questioned to nopony in particular. Twilight used the bathroom and went downstairs. She looked around, only to find a note on her desk. “Twily, went to a meeting with my boss. Will be home soon. With love- Derpy ❤️“, Twilight read to herself. Twilight was about to question, but heard tiny hoofsteps approaching. “Good morning, Dinky! Did you sleep well?”, Twilight asked the foal. “Yeah. I like my bed, it’s soft”, Dinky said brightly. Twilight chuckled, Dinky was such a little ray of sunshine. “I bet; Say, you want some breakfast?”, Twilight asked. “Yeah! Can we have some cereal, please?”, Dinky asked. Twilight looked at Dinky’s expression, a smile on her innocent face. Twilight was glad that she took her and Derpy in, not only because of Derpy though. Dinky was like a little burst of happiness that Twilight needed everyday. “Twilight?”, Dinky called out of confusion. “OH! Sorry, Dinky. I’m a bit tired. Sure, we can have some cereal. Celesti-O’s sound good?”, Twilght asked the filly. “Yeah!”, Dinky happily pronounced. The princess chuckled and poured them both a bowl of the marshmallow treat. Though it was strange that their was cereal based on her mentor, Twilght loved marshmallow. So, she gave it a pass. After they were done, Twilght began to clean the bowls out. Dinky sat at the table, wearing just as big a smile as she started with. After a moment, Twilight finished and sat in front of her. “So, what do you want to do Dinky?”, Twilight asked. “I wanna learn some magic!”, Dinky happily said. Twilight thought about it for a few seconds, but eventually nodded. “YAY! Thank you Twilight!”, Dinky said as she leaned over and gave Twilight a hug. Twilight felt a warmth take over her, one that she hadn’t felt since she first kissed Derpy. It was a sense of completion, almost as if one half of her was happy. Now she felt complete, having a little angel who looked up to her. Twilight snapped out of it and looked at the filly, who was smiling brighter than a star. “I’ll try to teach you a simple beginner spell. Is that fine?”, Twilght asked. “Sure! When do we start?”, Dinky asked. “How about right now?”, Twilight said. Dinky’s eyes lit up. “Yay! What are we gonna do?!”, Dinky excitedly asked. Twilight levitated a cup towards her and sat it on her right. She thought that this would be simple enough. “Ok Dinky, I want you to try to levitate this mug. One thing first, have you ever tried to use your magic before?”, Twilght explained. “Yeah, I’ve tried to”, Dinky said. “Alright, so here’s how you do it. You need to focus your energy and lift the cup”, Twilght explained. Dinky nodded and tried to levitate the clay cup. She squinted her eyes in pure determination as she made the cup move, filling her with hope as she did so. Twilight looked on with a proud grin, and continued to watch as it slowly began to rise. Dinky opened her eyes and grew 5 times happier. The cup was floating, slightly bobbing back and fourth as seconds passed. Dinky, to focused on her success, let go unintentionally an dropped the cup. It shattered upon impact. “Woah! Huh, that was loud. Be right back Dinky, I’ll get a broom”, Twilight said as she trotted to the broom. When she turned around, she found Dinky looking down at the ground. The filly was lightly shaking, and little driplets of water were falling from her face. “Dinky, what wrong?”, Twilght asked as she knelt down to Dinky’s level. Dinky looked up at her and sniffled a bit. “I-I’m sorry, T-T-Twilght. I didn’t mean to drop the mug. I bet you think I’m a loser now, huh?”, Dinky asked sadly. Twilight felt something inside her grow a bit angry. Hearing an innocent, sweet little filly putting herself down because of her was heartbreaking. “Dinky, I do not and will never think you are a loser. You made a simple mistake, big deal. Do you know how many things I broke when I began to practice my magic?”, Twilght asked. Dinky solemnly shook her head. “Let’s just say it makes that mug look like nothing”, Twilght chuckled. The foal chuckled slightly, but still let her head down. “But Twilight, you’re like the coolest, most prettiest pony ever! I don’t wanna make you mad. I don’t want you to leave me alone”, Dinky sadly said. Twilight was just as heartbroken as this filly, those words tore at her heartstrings. “Dinky, I would never leave you or your mom. You both have made an impact in my life. I wouldn’t even think of thinking bad if you, your a very special pony”, Twilght said. Dinky, seeming a bit better, gave Twilght a hug. “Thank you, Twilght. You’re the coolest princess ever”, Dinky nuzzled the alicorn. Twilight’s heart could’ve blown up from cuteness. This little filly seemed to look up to her heavily. “Twilight?”, Dinky asked. “Yes, Dinky?”, Twilght said back. “You’re with my mommy, right?”, Dinky asked. “Of course, silly. Why do you ask?”, Twilght chuckled. “Well, since your with my mommy...does that also make YOU my mommy?”, Dinky asked her. Twilight froze on the spot, unsure of how to respond. On one hoof, she was gonna explode with joy and cuteness. On the other hoof, she knew that the only way that she could be Dinky’s mother is if she were to adopt her. That actually sounded nice. She already kinda saw Dinky as a daughter. She was fun, very witty, and always grateful for everything that Twilght or Spike did. Maybe she did want to be Dinky’s mother.. “I-If you want me to be...”, Twilght stuttered out. “I do! I want you to be my mommy!”, Dinky said. “Dinky, you do know that the only way that I could be your mommy is if I marry your mom, right?”, Twilght asked. Dinky’s little face lit up. “Are you gonna get married to my mommy?!”, Dinky excitedly asked. Twilight froze again. She hadn’t thought about it, actually marrying Derpy. The more she thought about it now, however, made it sound heavenly. Just Derpy, Dinky, and her all together as a happy family. Spike also counts, she kinda forgot about him. “I-I wouldn’t mind marrying your mom”, Twilght smiled. “Then just ask her to marry you! I know she’d say yes!”, Dinky happily said. Twilight smiled a bit as she thought about their wedding. All of their friends and family, all gathering to celebrate their special day. “You know what, that doesn’t actually sound like a bad idea. You’re very smart, Dinky”, Twilght chuckled. “You’re smart, Mommy”, Dinky smiled back. Twilight began to cry a bit as the filly walked away, feeling so happy that she could die. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Dash of Advice //-------------------------------------------------------// A Dash of Advice Derpy flew through the air, about to make her rounds in in the outskirts of Cloudsdale. Little chat with her boss was still on her mind, as he offered her a raise if she could cover Cloudsdales outer district. Wanting to get more bits, she accepted the position. On her way, she spotted a familiar rainbow blur land on a cloud. Upon closer inspection, Rainbow Dash was holding a letter and sighing sadly. Not wanting to see her down, Derpy decided to try and cheer her up. She slowly flew over to the cyan mare and called for her. “Hi Rainbow Dash!”, she said happily. Dash, though a bit startled, turned around. Though she was taken back, she still put on her trademark grin. “Hey Ditzy, what’s up?”, Dash greeted. Dash used Derpy’s real name whenever they spoke, on account of there history. Dash was actually very friendly around Derpy after she got with Twilight. It was welcome change to when she was a bit grumpier. “Oh, not much. Just finishing up my rounds before I go home”, Derpy said while wiping off sweat. Dash was a bit confused. Derpy’s usual mail route wasn’t in the sky, so why was that suddenly the case? “You deliver up here, now?”, Dash asked. Derpy happily nodded, and took out a muffin from her bag. Dash decided not to question, it was Derpy after all. “Yep!”, Derpy said after swallowing the muffin. “Cool..”, Dash said a bit later. They were silent for a bit, until Derpy noticed the letter that Dash was holding. “What’s with the letter?”, Derpy asked. Dash looked to her and blushed a bit, which shocked Derpy. She never saw Dash blush, and it was honestly a strange site to behold. “Oh...It’s from a friend of mine”, Dash said with a shy smile. Derpy took one look at her smile and knew that something was up. She didn’t usually like to poke into her friends personal lives, but she was concerned for her friend. “Ok, Dash. I don’t mean to be nosy, but can I ask why you’re blushing?”, Derpy asked worriedly. Dash sighed and eventually spoke up. “It’s from my coltfriend, Soarin. We haven’t hung out in a while, and I miss him. He wrote very kind words. I came up here to think”, Dash admitted. “Aw, Dash that’s sweet. Don’t worry, loneliness is just a temporary vacation from happiness. The wait will probably be worth it”, Derpy comforted her friend. Dash smiled big and gave Derpy a wing hug. “Thanks, Ditzy. You’re a true friend”, Dash said gratefully. “Your welcome, I’m always here”, Derpy said. Derpy then had a scary thought. What if she told Dash about the marriage? What could it hurt, after all? “Hey Dash?”, Derpy asked nervously. “Yeah?”, Rainbow asked back. “I need to tell you something; It’s very important”, Derpy said. Dash, though suspicious, nodded with a smile. “Ok, hear me out. I’m thinking about proposing to Twilight, but I’m not sure how or when to do it”, Derpy said timidly. Dash looked stunned for a bit, but eventually broke out a little grin. “It’s about time, Ditz. You know, you really make Twilght happy. You’ve got my support, through and through”, Dash said. “Thanks, Dash”, Derpy said as she hugged her friend. “You’re welcome; But, there’s somethings you should do if you want her to say yes”, Dash said seriously. Derpy nodded and gave her full attention. “Twilight likes thing planned out, so you might wanna take her out on a night on the town, hit the places she likes, and then pop the question under the stars”, Rainbow said wisely. Derpy nodded, making a mental note along the way. “I’ll remember that, Dash. Anyway, I’ve gotta get going. The ring isn’t gonna pay for itself”, Derpy said with a laugh. “Ok, see ya later Ditsy”, Dash said as she got back I looking at her letter. Derpy took off into the sky and flew towards the city made of clouds. —————————————————————— “Ok , I’ve made my decision!”, Twilght said as she looked up from her book. “Oooh! Oooh! What is it?!”, Dinky jumped in anticipation. “I’m going to propose!”, Twilght said happily. “YES! YES!”, Dinky said while pumping her hoof. Twilight smiled, but on the inside she was completely confused. She didn’t know the first thing about marriage or proposing. She needed somepony’s help. Somepony smart, somepony close, somepony honest. “Honest...THAT’S IT!”, she said to herself. Twilight knew what she had to do. As soon as the sun came up tommorow, she would go see Applejack. She trusted the farmer, so she would be the perfect pony to ask. Just as Twilight was grinning, Derpy flew in through a window. Twilight turned and smiled brightly at the mare she loved dearly. “Hey Derpy, how did your day go?”, Twilght asked. “It was fine, a little boring, but fine. How was yours?”, Derpy asked as she kissed Twilght. “Boring, but productive; I did discover an old book I forgot I had. That was joy”, Twilght smiled. Derpy smiled at her marefriends smile, it truly lit her world every time she saw it. It made her impending proposal even more worth the wait. Twilight loved when Derpy had a grin on her face. It was everything she loved about her in one place. It made the thought of marrying Derpy feel sweeter then sugar. “Mommy!”, Dinky called as she found her mom. “Hey, Muffin. Did you have a good day?”, Derpy greeted her child happily. “Yeah! I played outside all day!”, the filly said innocently. Derpy loved this kind of think. Just her, her daughter, and her marefriend all living together in happiness. Yet another thing that made her marriage sound heavenly, a family. Twilight was already kinda like Dinky’s second mother, so the change wouldn’t be that drastic. “Hey Twi?”, Derpy suddenly asked. “Yeah, sweetie?”, Twilght asked as she put some books on the shelf. “What did you want for dinner? I’m sure that I can whip us up something”, Derpy asked. Dinky suddenly piped in and made her opinion. “CAN WE HAVE PIZZA?!”, Dinky asked. “I agree! Let’s have some pizza!”, another voice called. They all turned around and found Spike, holding his suitcases and giving a nice smile. “Spike! Welcome home, buddy!”, Twilght trotted to him and gave a big hug. “Thanks, it feels good to be back. So, how about that pizza?”, he asked playfully. The others laughed and went on to have a nice evening of stories and pizza. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Touch Of Apple Wisdom //-------------------------------------------------------// A Touch Of Apple Wisdom Twilight made her way down the famous path towards Sweet Apple Acres with a wide-eyed happiness. After she woke up, she had a burst of positive energy and suddenly everything was easier. She didn’t feel comfortable talking to Applejack about this before, but now she felt confident that her friend would give her advice. She approached the arch and looked towards the feilds, and quickly found the farm pony relaxing by a tree with her hooves behind her head. AJ had a very peaceful look, like everything was merely a beautiful drawing on her easel of life. Twilight made her way towards Applejack, and quickly made her presence known. “Hi Applejack, nice day huh?”, Twilght said as she approached the farmpony. Applejack looked up, still retaining her grin, and nodded. “Yeah, Twi, It sure is a beautiful mornin’. What brings ya here? Not that I’m complaining, Ah just don’t see out here much”, Applejack said. Twilight sat beside her under the tree, the breeze tickling her mane as she got comfortable. She looked towards Applejack and smiled. “I’m here because I need some advice. I trust you, so I thought that you’d be the perfect pony to ask”, Twilght smiled. “Sure Twi, A’hm always happy to help mah friends. What’s up?”, Applejack asked. Twilight took a deep breath, and began to explain to Applejack her plan. As she went on, Applejack’s expression changed. She wasn’t mad, she looked more like a proud parent. By the end, AJ bore a very genuine smile. “Twilight, that’s great. Derpy’s made you so happy that it was bound to happen anytime. You’ve my blessing, Sugarcube”, Applejack said happily. “Thanks Applejack, you’re a great friend”, Twilght said as she embraced her friend. After returning the hug, Applejack looked quizzingly at Twilight. “Ah don’t get it, you seem to be confident enough to do this. Why do ya need mah advice?”, Applejack asked. Twilight just laughed a bit, confusing Applejack a little more. “AJ, you’re the Element Of Honesty. Your opinion is needed for this. Plus, you’re like my best friend, I would tell you anyhow. The one thing I’m worried about is Dinky. She already things of me as a mother, but I just want make her happy in life. Derpy is an amazing mom, I’m just not sure I could live up to her standards”, Twilght said sadly, causing her ears to lower. “Twilight, you ain’t got nothing to worry about. Dinky is a very sweet and kind filly, she accepts everypony who treats her right. You’ve treated her amazing in the time you’ve known her, so you’re covered there. Plus, you took care of Spike for like, what, 15 years? You would be a great momma”, Applejack assured her friend. Twilight smiled widely, tearing up as her friends words finished. Maybe Applejack was right. Maybe she could be a good mother. “Thanks AJ, you’re a good mare”, Twilght thanked her friend. “Anytime, Twi. Say, you wanna get some fritters? Apple Bloom just made some”, Applejack offered. “Apple Bloom made fritters?”, Twilght asked. “Darn tootin! Best Ah’ve ever had!”, Applejack said while licking her lips. “Sure!”, Twilght did as she scurried to get some treats. Applejack chuckled and followed her into the home, also longing for some Apple goodness. —————————————————————— “Hey Derpy, do you know where the sugar is? I was gonna make some pineapple upside-down cake and I need some sugar”, Spike called as he walked into the the living room. Derpy looked up from her book and gave him a friendly smile. “Oh, it’s above the spices. Sorry, I was making some muffins and I guess I just put them in a weird spot”, Derpy blushed. “It’s cool, thanks!”, Spike thanked her. He scurried back into the kitchen, leaving a thought-filled Derpy to her lonesome. It was very hard keeping this in her. Though she made Rarity and Dash swear not to tell, she felt like she needed to tell other ponies. She wasn’t going to tell Dinky, because Dinky would bounce all over the room if she knew her intentions. Derpy loved her daughter, but she didn’t think she was capable of keeping a big secret. Derpy then looked towards the kitchen, where a slight humming eminated from a cheerful dragon. She thought of how good and honest Spike was. He was a nice guy and a good friend, who never really went back on his word. Maybe he could keep a secret? “Hey, Spike!”, she called. Spike poked his head out from the door frame, lightly covered in a doug-dust. “Yeah?”, he responded. “Could you maybe come here, there’s something I need to tell you”, Derpy said. “K, just give me second”, Spike smiled as he put the cake in the oven. He walked out of the kitchen and sat beside of her, giving a smile. “What’s up?”, He asked. Derpy was nervous, but trusted Spike very much. Though scary, she told her plan to Spike. His face was blank after she finished, but a second later he had a big grin on his face. “Derpy, that’s really awesome. You’ve got my support, I’ll do anything you need me to do. But, I don’t understand why your nervous?”, Spike said. “Spike, Twilght is pretty much the best part of my life. Besides Dinky, of course. I just want to give her the best. Just like she gave me”, Derpy said. “Derpy, you already have. Remember, I’ve lived with Twilght since she was Dinky’s age. I’ve never seen her so alive since you came in. Plus, you’re a good friend and mom. And I count you as a close friend, so there’s that”, Spike smiled at her. Derpy smiled back and wrapped Spike in a hug, to which he accepted. “Thanks, Spike. You know just what to say”, Derpy thanked him. “No problem, just remember that you shouldn’t force it. Twilight likes a planned evening, so just plan a good night”, Spike said. “I’ve thought of that, actually. I think I’m gonna do it soon. I just gotta get the ring and some reservations”, Derpy said. “Derpy, I’ll give you the bits”, Spike said. “Woah, really?! Spike, you don’t have to”, Derpy said suprised. “You’re right, I don’t HAVE to, but I WANT to. Twilight is like my sister, and I’d do anything for family. That includes you, too. Family means more to me than money, you know. Money is replaceable, but the love of you and Twilight is not. I’ll get the bits tomorrow”, he smiled. “I can’t thank you enough, Spike”, Derpy said. “The best way you can thank me is doing two things. One, make Twilght happy; Two, come try my cake. It’s ready”, Spike smiled. //-------------------------------------------------------// Sweet Little Talks //-------------------------------------------------------// Sweet Little Talks Dinky walked into the kitchen, smelling a wonderful aroma of waffles and general deliciousness. Spike was stirring away at the batter, making sure that it was just right for both he and the ponies he was serving. Speaking of, Twilght and Derpy we’re sitting at the table talking happily. Starlight was also there, but was to busy looking sad. Dinky trotted you the table and immediately listened upon their conversation. “Are you sure you’re fine, sweetie? You’ve been working hard lately, you know”, Twilight asked. Derpy just nodded and sipped her cup of coffee, which clearly woke her up. “WHEW! Wow, that really helps! Thanks Spike, What’s in this?”, Derpy asked the chef. “Oh, you know, just some cocoa beans and some military grade sugar”, he nonchalantly said. All heads turned to him slowly, and eventually noticed. “What? Why is everypony staring at me?”, Spike asked the group. “Spike, why do you have military grade sugar? How did you even GET it anyhow?”, Twilght asked with a paternal look. “Well, Pinkie gave me the sugar because she said I should give it to Derpy. Something about how she looked tired on her mail route”, Spike admitted. Derpy, who was slowly becoming a little more hyper, denied these claims by shaking her head. “Nuh-Uh, No way, I’m not tired”, she said with yet another sip. “Mom, are you su-“, Dinky began. “WOOO! I’M WALKING ON SUNSHINE, YEE-HAW~!”, Derpy said as she flew through the window and towards the post office. Everypony and dragon looked towards the imprint in the wall and just sat in shock. Eventually, Starlight broke the silence. “Soooo, how bout’ them waffles, huh Spike?”, she said with a nervous grin. —————————————————————— Later on that day, Dinky was practicing her levitation spell, when she heard Twilight calling her name. “Coming!”, she said as she trotted to her door. She made her way down the stairs and saw Twilight standing by the door . “Hey Dinky, wanna come to Sugarcube Corner with me?”, Twilght happily asked. “Sure! Thanks Twilght!”, Dinky said with a smile. Twilight chuckled and led the way towards the sweet sanctuary. Along the way, however, Dinky couldn’t help but worry about her mother. It was clear that she was working a tad to hard, but that outburst at breakfast...Wow. How anypony could make waffles not important she would never know. Twilight noticed the look on the filly’s face, and completely understood what she was thinking. Derpy just seemed off, and that was never really an issue. Sure she had her clumsy moments, but even those had sorta stopped. Felling sorry, Twilight put a hoof around Dinky’s shoulder. “She’ll be fine, Dinky”, Twilght said with a smile. Dinky looked up at her mother figure and broke into a little smile herself. “I know, it’s just I’m a little worried about momma. I’ve never seen her act this weird before”, Dinky said as they neared Sugarcube Corner. Twilight was about to speak up, but was cut short by a pink blur jumping out in front of them. “Hiya Twilight, Hiya Dinky!”, Pinkie Pie said happily. Pinkie was dressed very strange. She was, for some reason, wearing a black suit and a red tie, with a fake afro and fu-manchu. “Hi Pinkie Pie, What’s with the costume?”, Twilght asked with a confused smile. “Oh nothing, I’m just tired of these mother-bucking mares breaking through my wall!”, Pinkie said with a fake Manehatten accent. Thankfully, Twilight covered Dinky’s ears at the right moment. “Ok? What do you mean by that?”, Twilight asked. “Well, you’re marefriend came crashing into the bakery and then went out the other wall. I tried to give her more of the sugar, but she was just goin’ too fast”, Pinkie explained. “Ms. Pinkie Pie, with all due respect, could you please not give my momma anymore sugar?”, Dinky said sadly. Pinkie’s face softened, and nelt down before the filly, removing her fu-manchu in the process. “Alright, I won’t Dinky. I don’t want you’re momma to get hurt”, Pinkie said with a reassuring smile. Pinkie then sprang up and lost the costume, with the afro landing on a bush. She then turned to face them with her trademark bubbly smile. “So, where are ya headin’, partner?”, Pinkie said in an Applejack like accent. “Me and Twilight are gonna go to Sugarcube Corner!”, Dinky happily said. “OH! What a coincidence, so am I!”, Pinkie said. With that the now trio set off to get some sweets. —————————————————————— **ELSE WHERE** Princess Celestia combed her long, flowing star mane with relative comfort, until a breaking sound broke her from her beauty business. “Sister! The mail mare has you’re package!”, Luna called out. “Coming, Lulu!”, Celestia called back. She made her way down the hall and into the foyer, where she found Luna and the mail mare. As soon as she saw the mare, her eyes lit up. Could this be the pony that Twilight had written to her about? The one she had saved from the fire and eventually courted with? Surely, this has to be her. “Thank you very much, I’ve been awaiting this package for a little while”, Celestia said cheerfully. The mare was about to leave, but Celestia called out to her. “Wait, don’t leave yet! I must speak with you, miss!”, Celestia called out. The mare turned around and trotted to the princess. “Y-Yes you’re majesty?”, the gray mare stuttered. “Tell me, are you by any chance named Ditsy Doo?”, Celestia asked. “Yes, princess, but my friends call me Derpy”, the gray mare replied. It was an odd nickname, but Celestia didn’t care. She finally was face to face with her former faithful student’s special somepony. “Wonderful! You’re the one Twilght has written about, it sure is a pleasure to finally meet you Derpy”, Celestia smiled at her. Derpy nearly fainted. The princess wanted to meet HER? Twilight herself was a princess, but that was different. This was CELESTIA, as in THE mare. Derpy was frightened, but carried on with the conversation. “Yes, that’s me. It’s great to finally meet you too, Princess”, Derpy bowed her head. “Rise, Derpy, my student’s special somepony shouldn’t have to bow”, Celestia smiled warmly. Derpy also smiled and nodded. Derpy, however, was growing worried. She needed to complete her route or she wasn’t going to get that bonus she needed. She explained the situation, minus the marriage, to the princess. “No need, my little pony, Luna already had that covered”, Celestia nodded to Luna. Luna bore Derpy’s bag and hat, and wore a toothy grin. “Anyway, I would like chat with you. I want to tell you how you can get her to say yes”, Celestia said. Derpy almost had a heart attack. The princess knew about this? How? She only told a few pony’s of her intentions, yet somehow Celestia knew. This was truly a bizarre day. “Don’t fret, Derpy. You already have my blessing. Now, follow me and we’ll discuss this. Luna, you know what to do”, Celestia nodded towards the night princess. “On it, Tia!”, Luna said as she flew towards Cloudsdale. —————————————————————— “And that’s how Gummy saved the 6th dimension!”, Pinkie said while holding said alligator. Twilight had a look of both confusion and awe, while Dinky was smiling brightly at the little gator. “Aww, yay Gummy! Such a good boy!”, Dinky said as she gave the reptile a pat. Gummy only blinked, giving Twilight a creepy feeling. “Anyway, what would you like to eat?”, Pinkie said as she walked behind the counter. Twilight thought about it and soon spoke up. “I’ll take a danish. Dinky, what would you like?”, Twilight asked the foal. “I want cupcakes!”, Dinky smiled. “Cupcakes? OH YEAH! To the kitchen!”, Pinkie said as she sped to the kitchen. Dinky still had her smile, but Twilight was a bit lost in thought. After Derpy’s outburst, she felt like she had done something wrong. Still, she had that burning desire to make Derpy her wife. She was sure that Derpy was just hitting a rough patch, after all what could she have been doing? “Um, Twilght?”, Dinky broke her thoughts. “Oh, what is it?”, Twilight replied. “I think I figured out why Momma is acting so weird. Don’t tell anypony what I’m gonna tell you, though. It’s a big secret”, Dinky said in a whisper. Twilight was genuinely intrigued. Dinky looked confident enough, so she gave her full attention. “Alright, What’s wrong?”, Twilight asked. “HEY HEY HEY, Y’ALL READY FOR SOME CUPCAKES?!”, Pinkie popped up from behind them. Both mare and filly let out a scream, unsure of why Pinkie was behind them to begin with. “Ms. Pinkie Pie! Why are you so scary?!”, Dinky asked with a huff. “What? I was just trying to say hi”, Pinkie blushed. “Mum? Are you ok? Why are you screaming?”, a little accent called out. “Momma’s fine, Pip, just go back to drawing!”, Pinkie happily called out. Dinky looked confused. Why was Pipsqueak there? And why was he calling Pinkie mom? “Ms. Pinkie?”, Dinky asked. “Yeah?”, Pinkie replied while handing the food over to them. “Why is my friend Pipsqueak here? Is he in trouble?”, Dinky asked worriedly. Pinkie chuckled, leaving Twilight also a bit giggly. “Silly filly, Pipsqueak is my son!”, Pinkie said happily. Dinky was shocked. This she hadn’t seen coming. “I’ll explain, little homie. Take a seat and I shall tell you a tale”, Pinkie began. —————————————————————— “So you’re saying that I’ve been overreacting?”, Derpy asked. “Yes Derpy, that’s exactly what I’m saying. You don’t need to worry one bit. In fact, I’d say that you should be excited”, Celestia said as she sipped her tea. “Well, I’m excited, but I’m also terrified. I just want her to be my wife, yet I can’t seem to find the right time to do it. I don’t even have a ring, Princess!”, Derpy cried a bit. Celestia felt genuinely bad for the mare. She cared so much for Twilight, yet she was petrified of the rejection. She had seen thousands of cases like this, but for some reason this one felt just the tiniest bit more heartbreaking. “Ditsy, you must not worry. It is a scary thing, yes, but I think you have this in the bag. And about the ring, I can get you one made in a about an hour”, Celestia smiled at the mailmare. “Really?! Thank you so much, Princess!”, Derpy gave the white goddess a hug. “Please, call me Celestia. All of my friends call me that”, Celesta winked. “O-Ok, Celestia. I still have one problem, though”, Derpy sighed. “That being?”, Celestia questioned. Derpy hesitated, but eventually spoke. “When should I propose?”, Derpy asked. Celestia pondered for a moment, but eventually gave her reply. “Well, the Summer Sun Celebration is in a week. Why not do it there?”, Celestia proposed. Derpy’s face lit up, and she grew a smile. That would be perfect! “Thanks Celestia, I’m glad you’re my friend”, Derpy thanked the princess. “Don’t mention it, Ditsy. Now, one lump or two?”, Celestia asked. —————————————————————— Dinky was crying as Pinkie finished her story, saddened at all that Pip lost. “Don’t be sad, Dinky. He’s really happy now, plus he loves bake!”, Pinkie said as she scarfed down a cupcake. “Ok, I’m not sad. It’s really kind what you did for him, Pinkie. He’s a really nice colt”, Dinky smiled. “I already know that! Say, you wanna go talk to him?”, Pinkie asked the filly. “Sure! Where is he?”, Dinky replied. “Up the stairs and to you’re right. Have fun!”, Pinkie said happily. Dinky happily trotted up the stairs, leaving Pinkie and Twilight alone in the bakery. “So Twilight, why did Derpy crash through my wall?”, Pinkie asked as she sat in a seat. “It was your industrial grade sugar, Pinkie. She was very tired and she needed some energy”, Twilight said very sternly. Pinkie’s ears went down and she looked down, leaving Twilight to feel a tad bad. “Aw Pinkie, I know you were trying to help, but this isn’t the way”, Twilight said softly. “But Twilight, you don’t know how important this is. If you knew why Derpy was tired then you’d completely understand”, Pinkie said defensively. Twilight was now genuinely intrigued. Derpy had a secret? Derpy was always honest with everything, so what was so big that she couldn’t say anything? “Why? Do I need to know? Is it really important?”, Twilight asked very worriedly. Pinkie looked torn, but eventually sighed. “Twilight Sparkle, what I’m about to tell you is completely secret. So make me a Pinkie Promise and don’t speak a word to anypony else. Got it?”, Pinkie said in a surprisingly serious tone. Suprised by Pinkie’s maturity, she did the motions and uttered the famous phrase. After she finished, Pinkie began. “She has been taking up the Cloudsdale route on her mail route. That’s why she comes home very tired and sweaty. She’s been saving up for something very special. Twilight, she’s been saving up for a ring”, Pinkie said very seriously. Twilight almost fainted, and rightfully so. Who knew her little talk with Dinky was so accurate? By Celestia, she did not expect this. “How do you know that she is saving up?”, Twilght asked. “I heard what she said to Dashie, I was flying my balloon nearby and caught the whole conversation. She’s wanted this for a long time, and I know you have too. Please, when she does propose to you, make her the happiest mare ever. I’ve known her for years, and she deserves it, and so do you”, Pinkie finished. Twilight was now slightly crying, not of sadness but off joy. She had wanted this, yes, but hearing what Derpy had been putting herself through was heartbreaking. All for her, all for Twilight Sparkle. She was very happy, so happy that she hugged Pinkie. “Pinkie, thanks for telling me. You’re right, I’ve wanted this for somebody time. Truth be told, me and Dinky had a talk about it, but I didn’t expect it to be so true and real. Just thinking about makes me happy”, Twilght smiled. “Remember, don’t tell her. She’s been working hard for this moment”, Pinkie said sternly. “I won’t, thanks Pinkie”, Twilight smiled. Pinkie smiled back and called for the foals. It was cupcake time. —————————————————————— “Thanks again, princess. This has been a very fun time”, Derpy said happily. “You’re welcome, Derpy. It’s great to have a chat with my subjects every once in a while. And don’t worry about your pay, Luna explained it to the post office”, Celestia said. “Thanks, oh and by the way”, Derpy called out. “Yes, Derpy?”, Celestia replied. “Rarity misses you, you need to see her again”, Derpy smirked and flew off. Celestia blushed and walked back into her room, preparing a letter to her special jewel. —————————————————————— The night had been a normal one in the Castle I’d Friendship. Dinner was delicious, and the laughs were all around the table as Dinky told of her time with Pipsqueak. They were all in a cheery mood, even the two lovebirds. Derpy and Twilight soon retired to their room, and once they did Twilight fell asleep. As Twilight lay in bed, Derpy was awake. She thought of the Summer Sun Celebration, and where she could do it during the festival. She needed one more ponies advice. One that she knew what definitely be kind to her situation. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Summer Sun Celebration //-------------------------------------------------------// The Summer Sun Celebration Derpy paced in her room, contemplating what to do and how to do it. The rest of her friends were outside enjoying the festivities, leaving her to ponder her descision. Her heart was racing as she looked at the ponies through the window, noticing their smiles and jovial behavior. She hoped that after tonight, she would feel like them. As she pondered, a sound startled her. She trotted towards the sound, which came from the foyer, and almost flipped her lid. Princess Celestia was standing in the foyer, with a little box and a motherly smile. She looked as if she was going to cry, but not of sadness. No, the tears in her eyes were of joy, no doubt about it. “Derpy, I have the ring. Before I give it to you, though, I need to talk to you one last time”, Celestia said. Derpy nodded and trotted towards the princess, sitting in her haunches before the sun goddess. “Ditsy Doo, I need to thank you. You’ve given Twilight so much happiness in such a short time that I already feel like you’re family. When you ask her, I need you to say what you feel. It will come in time”, Celestia spoke. Derpy had tears in her eyes as the Princess finished, and gave the ruler a large hug. “Celestia, thank you for all that you’ve done. Twilight has given me more happiness than I’ve ever experienced in life, and I’m honored that you see me in such a way. I promise that I’ll be her everything”, Derpy said passionately. “You already are, my little pony. Now go, find her and make her life a thousand times better”, Celestia said in an inspirational tone. She gave Derpy the ring, which she put in her mane. Derpy nodded and trotted out the door, scanning for Twilght through the crowd. She didn’t see her, but she did see Applejack. She made her way to the farmer, who was currently sitting at a table. “Hey Applejack!”, Derpy said. “Well howdy, Derpy, havin’ a good festival?”, AJ called out happily. “Um, yeah, I am. Anyway, have you seen Twilight? I need to talk to her about something”, Derpy said nervously. “Ah can’t say Ah have, Derpy. Sorry”, Applejack replied. Derpy looked down in sadness and began to trot away. Until she bumped into a certain friend, one that could probably help her the most. “Oops, sorry Spike. Wasn’t looking where I was going”, Derpy apologized. Spike, ever the cool one, just shrugged it off. “It’s alright, Derpy. What’s up?”, Spike asked. “Not much, I’m just out here looking for Twilight. Have you seen her?”, Derpy asked the dragon: Spike put his thinking cap on, keeping Derpy waiting. “Well, I think I saw her go towards Sweet Apple Acres. There’s this one hill that she rests on from time to time. Try to check there”, Spike said. “Thanks Spike”, Derpy began”, I’ll be back soon. Take care”. Spike looked as she walked away. “Go get em’, Derpy”, Spike said happily. —————————————————————— Twilight simply smiled as she watched sun lower on the horizon. The sentimental evening was already going well, and she felt that it couldn’t get better. As the moon rose, her mind was reaching some places she hadn’t anticipated to go to tonight. She thought of that conversation that she had with Dinky, and how she not only gained a somewhat daughter, but how she realized that she needed to spend her life with Derpy. The mere thought would make her happier than she had ever felt. The mare had changed her and others lives for the better, and that was something that she could never forget. She was actually getting somewhat impatient, with each passing day getting more antsy. Of course, Twilight was good at keeping things inside, so nopony seemed to notice. Suddenly, hoofsteps came from her left, taking her out of her thoughts. There, walking down the path, was her beloved. Derpy was looking very happy, yet she also seemed determined. Twilight smiled, but she always did that around her love. “Hey you, I didn’t expect you to be put and about. What’s up?”, Twilight asked as Derpy layed down next to her on the grassy hill. “I just thought that I would spend some time with you. I’m sorry about that by the way, work hasn’t really been the kindest to me”, Derpy said. “You have nothing to apologize for, I’m sure whatever it was for was worth it”, Twilight smiled. Derpy had a click in the back of her brain, and she felt that it was time. With a breath, she began to utter the words that would change her life forever. “It was worth it, Twilight. I’ve been covering the Cloudsdale route on my schedule. I needed to earn more bits so I could...Well...Get something special”, Derpy blushed. Twilight was curious, and cocked her head slightly. “O-Ok? What did you get?”, Twilight asked. Derpy’s last 6 months flashed in front of her, but she eventually spoke. “Twilight Sparkle, these last 6 months have been the best time of my life. Through all the hardship, you’ve been there for me. I never went this to end. So that’s why I need you to answer an important question”, Derpy said passionately. Twilight was stunned as Derpy stood up and took a small box from her mane. With a ‘flick’ the box opened. “Twilight Sparkle, will you marry me?”, Derpy asked. Twilight looked dazed for a second, but shot fourth and wrapped herself around Derpy shortly after, planting kisses on her cheeks. “I take it that’s a yes?”, Derpy chuckled. “Yeah, it is. Of course I’ll marry you, Ditsy Doo”, Twilght laughed back. Both mares had tears in their eyes as the moon rained down it’s pale light. In the pale orb, in fact, was somewhat of a twinkle. —————————————————————— “YES! YES YES YES YES! MOMMA’S GETTING MARRIED!”, Dinky cried happily. She ran up and hugged Twilight deeply, a gesture that was now going to be a regular thing. “I’m glad you’re happy, Dinky”, Twilght said happily. “We’re all happy, honey. This is the best night ever!”, Derpy said before joining the hug. “I agree, this is truly a wonderful occasion”, a new voice some from in front of them. They all turned to find Celestia in somewhat tears. “Celestia!”, Twilght ran up and hugged her former mentor. “I’m so happy for all of you. This is going to be a good wedding”, Celestia said happily. “Princess, I have a question”, Dinky said. “What is it, my little pony?”, Celestia. “Well, one time Twilight said that you were like a second mother to her. Does that make you my granny?”, Dinky asked. Celestia chuckled and trotted to Dinky, lowering to her level when she arrived. “Dinky, I would like nothing more”, Celestia smiled brightly. Dinky hugged the alicorn deeply, causing the princess to tear up a bit. “Dinky, your not only getting a granny. You’re getting some else too. Do you know what I’m speaking of?”, Celestia asked. Dinky looked confused, but understood once Celestia pointed to Twilight. “So, I have another Momma? Like, for real this time?”, Dinky asked. “Yes, little one, Twilight I will become your mother once the marriage is finalized”, Celestia said. Dinky turned to her future mother and trotted slowly towards her. “Hey...Momma?”, Dinky asked. “Y-Yes?”, Twilght said with tears. “I love you”, Dinky said before kissing Twilght on the cheek. “Momma loves you too, honey; Momma loves you too”, Twilight said happily.
