There it was again. The voice, the plea kept calling out to him as he ran towards the massive structure ahead. After what he did, there was no reason to stay anymore as those who witnessed the scene were not few but many. They saw what he did and he can no longer take it back. If he was being completely honest, Moses didn't know what came over him. He felt this... need to save the one being viciously tortured, as if an external force of some kind compelled him to act out of his own will. After the nightmare revealed him of his origins, his life was nothing but a filthy lie; a lie in which he was spared from being slaughtered and killed with the rest of the firstborn. Nonetheless, what's done was done and the only thing Moses can do now was run away. Anywhere but here. Looking behind, Moses saw a chariot moving towards him at full speed. Outrun it as he may, his legs could only carry him so far, as the sounds of hoof steps drew nearer along with his name being cried out once more. Not long after, the carriage intercepted him, blocking him from leaving the place he once called home, and on the chariot stood a man. In all his life, Moses never had someone like him before; stubborn, headstrong and mischievous. They shared a close bond together ever since, getting themselves into trouble whenever they can, but considering the circumstances now... There may be no way to fix what had happened. "Let me go!", Moses demanded, brushing past his brother. "No, wait!" With a pleading voice, Rameses placed his hand on Moses' shoulder but was pushed away. True, he saw what had happened, but that didn't stop him from letting his brother leave the empire. If he did, where would he stay? What would he eat? Where would he sleep? Most importantly, will he survive in the scorching desert on his own? "You saw what I did. I just killed a man!" As Pharaoh, Rameses knew well the penalty of murder, which is utter death. Just thinking about his brother facing such punishment already terrified him all the more, but as ruler of Egypt, he can change that. Whatever command, whatever rule, and whatever word, it will be followed accordingly to his desired will. "W-We can take care of that." Catching up to Moses, Rameses went up to his side, his hand on his shoulder again. "I can make so it never happened!" In an attempt to reassure him, it seemed his words only infuriated his brother more. "Nothing you say can change what I've done," Moses stated, pushing Rameses away. "I am Egypt!", Rameses proclaimed, moving past him. "The Morning and the Evening Star; if I say, "day is night", it will be written! And you will be who I say you are." Placing his hands on Moses' shoulders, Rameses looked at his brother with determination in his eyes and said, "I say you are innocent!" "What you say does not matter! You don't understand..." Shoving him aside, Moses could no longer tolerate his brother telling him that he could control the past. That he could control destiny itself. It sickened him how easy Rameses said it, how a few words can easily free him from the vile deed he committed. Even if his crime was indeed pardoned, Moses knew his actions will forever scar him as well as haunt him. "I can't stay here any longer!", Moses affirmed his statement, not wanting to dawdle on the situation anymore as he moved forward and ignored all the hopeless words. "Moses..." "No!" Finally turning around, Moses grabbed both of his brothers' arms and looked at him, the pain and suffering clearly apparent in his eyes. "Everything I've known to be true was a lie," He said. His gaze lowered to the countless sand beneath his sandals, the painful truth, and reality overshadowing him like the sun above. As bitter as the truth he discovered that dreadful night, all the deceit and trickery of how his life was lived in an illusion blinded him of who he really was. Why wasn't he told of this before? Why was it kept a secret? What was so precious about him? At this point, Moses didn't know what to think of himself anymore. "What are you talking about?", Rameses asked. Slowly lifting his gaze, Moses looked him, a disgusted look in his expression as he remembered the words said to him the same night. It troubled him deeply no less and the fact on how it was so casually brought up wanted Moses to vomit right there and then. "Go ask the man I once called father." With that said, Moses let go and turned towards the road of no return. "Moses... Please..." On the verge of tears, Rameses spoke in a quiet whisper, his hand stretching out to reach one last time. He didn't want to abandon everything they've built up; the memories, the mischiefs, the bonds they shared. To lose all of it meant severing themselves apart. Chances are, the odds of seeing each other again were down to none. As Pharaoh—the ruler of the greatest empire—he will do anything... absolutely anything in his power to assure everything was fine for the sake of his brother. But as hard as he tried, pleaded and begged, the only response he received was: "Goodbye, brother." Casting one final glance, Moses turned away and ran. Whatever awaited him in the barren wasteland, he didn't care in the slightest. Even if he died, it didn't even matter. He deserved to die as much as the one he killed before and what better way to earn it than exiling one's self in the scorching desert with no food, water, transportation or sense of direction whatsoever? As Moses drew further and further away towards the unknown, his name being cried out over and over again faded into silence. "All done." Morning had once again risen, the sun beaming on a brand new day in Equestria. In a quaint town such as Ponyville, every resident tended to their own errands as usual. For Spike, breakfast was in order and he just finished the last pancake for the six stacks. Wearing a chef hat and apron fit for a small dragon like him, he was almost always in the kitchen every morning, afternoon and evening to prepare a meal. Sometimes, his friend Starlight Glimmer would come over and cook up something, but being principal in the School of Friendship had made her all the busier. Putting the hat and apron aside, he carried the pancake-stacked plate over to the table slowly so as not to waste the blueberries around the whipped cream sitting at the top. After careful handling, Spike finally laid the plate at the table along with the other meals he prepared beforehand. As much as he liked to dig in and chomp first, he had someone to call first. "I'd better call Twilight now," Spike said, putting the hat and apron aside. Opening the doors on the side, he was met with a quiet corridor. The Castle of Friendship can be quite a confusing place for one to navigate around the hallways with seemingly countless doors, but given time, one can proceed along the hallways with ease. Spike approached a certain door in the hallway, one that led to a certain purple alicorn's quarters. With three soft knocks on the door, he called out, "Twilight, breakfast is ready. Come and get it." ... No reply. "That's strange. She usually replies back immediately." Spike wondered, a talon under his chin, deep in thought. "That or maybe she's still asleep or in the bathroom fixing her mane. Oh well, more for me I guess." He shrugged, rubbing both his claws together. Before Spike could head back to the dining table and chow down on his gem pancakes, in the corner of his eye, a certain door caught his attention. A slightly opened one at that. With a single brow raised, Spike pondered. "Huh. If Twilight's in the library this early in the morning, then something important must have come up," He deduced. Making his way toward the door, he pushed it to the side, as a creaking sound resounded in the room. In the corner, he saw none other than the Princess of Friendship at her study table, who seemed to be captivated by something in her hooves. "Twilight. Breakfast is rea—", Spike called out once again but stopped mid-sentence. As the purple alicorn turned towards him, there was a book in her hooves. "Whatcha' got there, Twi? Something interesting?", He asked. "Spike. Quick question," Twilight said, earning the small dragon's attention. "By any chance, did a delivery happen to come by this morning?" A look of confusion formed on Spike's face. "No, I was busy preparing breakfast earlier. There was nothing in the mail today about a book being delivered to us, nor do I remember any." "And you didn't go to the library this morning and placed this book that I have no memory of having?" "No, why? What's with the book?", Spike inquired, a puzzled look on his face. Shifting her eyes on the book once more, Twilight turned her head to her number one assistant, a hint of concern and worry in her face. "Spike, could you send a letter to the princesses? After breakfast, I mean. I have something to ask them about this... book I found at my table. They may have answers," She said, her eyes trailing and reading the two words tainted in gold below the odd symbol: Holy Bible.
