"Awww come on, Adagio. It's Taco Tuesday!" smiled Sonata with a bright wide eyed look on her face as she grinned from ear to ear, hands clenched into fists and held against her shirt.
“So? We have more important matters to worry about.” replied Adagio with a huge smirk on her face.
Sonata sighed slightly, still feeling somewhat defeated despite the recent turnaround in her and her sister's lives. Was she even a part of this whole group? The three of them were very good at getting the boys and girls of the school to fall for their little scheme but where was her place in the whole thing? She sat alone while Aria and Adagio were once again fighting over who got to lead the dazzlings. She hated it when they fought like that. She understood the necessity of the situation, but she couldn't help feeling like they could all do much better for themselves. She hated the fact she had to hide what she was, and she didn't even like the thought of using others to gain a foothold in this world, that was more Aria and Adagio's influence on her.
“Man I wish I could just enjoy a normal day without having to worry about taking over the world. It's so boring.” sighed Sonata as her hands rested on the sides of her cheeks, her elbows on the table as she stared down at her lunch, even the fact it was Taco Tuesday couldn't cheer her up currently. "Geez... Aria and Adagio are still arguing. Why can't they just get along for once? The two of them rarely argued before Starswirl banished them, but now it seemed as though fighting and yelling was just about the only thing they ever did anymore." They didn't really pay much mind to her though. Heck, most students of Canterlot High didn't, it was almost like she didn't even exist to most of the crowd.
Though she wasn't expecting anyone to actually sit down beside her, but the next thing she knew Pinkie Pie was sitting down next to her.
"Hiya, Sonata! How are you today?" Pinkie chirped. It really seemed like Sonata could use a friend and Pinkie would do anything to help anyone smile proud. It was clear to her there was no smile on her face though, and she couldn't help but wonder why.
“Eh, okay...I guess.” replied Sonata with a heavy sigh and a roll of her eyes. She wasn't even sure why Pinkie Pie even wanted to sit with her. She knew that Twilight and the others thought she was evil just like the other two sirens.
Pinkie could clearly tell that something was bothering Sonata and wanted to try and help out as best as she could. But what could she do? She really didn't know much about Sonata. Well...what did she know? She knew she was a siren and that her and the other sirens were up to no good and trying to enslave everyone with their music but it didn't seem to affect her and her friends. It was almost like they had some kind of powerful magic, but the only magic she had was that she was surrounded by such a great group of friends. Wait a second! That was it! Her whole expression widened in awe as she looked rather shocked as she glanced over towards Sonata Dusk.
“Ah!!!!!! I got it. I think I know exactly what you need.” smiled Pinkie Pie all bubbly and happy as ever. Nothing could get her down and she was going to get Sonata to smile no matter how long it took.
“And what might that be?” questioned Sonata with a raise of an eyebrow as she groaned. She could just stand up and walk away but she really did want to enjoy her tacos so she bit into one and let the pinked haired one speak.
“You need a friend, and I know that you probably think Adagio and Aria are your friends but I really don't see it that way.” began Pinkie with an excited look as she hoped to make her feel at least a tiny bit better. She couldn't help but be a bit nervous as Sonata bit into her taco. Wait...tacos. That was it! Now she really had a great idea.
“I have friends, Aria and Adagio have always been my friends and why would someone like you even want to be my friend?” questioned Sonata.
“Friends wouldn't force you to do something you don't even care about. A real friend would listen and understand just how unique you really are. You are so much more than what they think of you. And not just that but you love tacos, and anyone that loves tacos can't be all bad.” smiled Pinkie Pie.
“Yes tacos are awesome. The flavor, the texture, how it all fits into a tiny shell so perfectly. It's amazing.” Sonata's excitement over lunch nearly caused her to spill it all over her lap but luckily, Pinkie came to the rescue.
“Phew! That was a close call. You really should eat those before I do. They look amazing.” she smiled and without even waiting a second longer, Sonata munched on her tacos while Pinkie sat beside her.
“You know I get why Adagio and Aria want to do what their doing, but I don't know....I get this feeling you don't really want to be a bad person. You should totally come and hang out with me and my friends sometime! We'd welcome you with open arms, no questions asked. After all what are friends for?” smiled Pinkie with that wided eyed grin of hers. She was really hoping she would agree but obviously she would have to wait until she finished her lunch for an answer. “Come meet me in the band room if you decide you want to be friends!” waved Pinkie as she stood up from the table and went over to the table where the rest of her friends were.
Even after Sonata Dusk finished her tacos she sat there wondering if Pinkie was right. Well in a way she was. She didn't really care about taking over the world, and she couldn't help but remember her words, “anyone who likes tacos can't be all bad!” With a very slight smile forming on her lips, she stood up from the table, taking her tray back to the cafeteria lady, and throwing her napkins away as she headed for the band room, because for once in her life, she wanted to be more than just someone in the background, she wanted to have a purpose and have friends, and it was clear to her whom those friends really were. It didn't matter if the plan didn't succeed, she had to care about herself and Pinkie was right about one things. Tacos were indeed awesome. With a grin on her face and a new beam around her, her magic within her pendant felt more powerful then ever and she realized that friendship was something she wanted, as she greeted Pinkie Pie with a big hug.
Author's Note
Thanks to any pony that decided to read this, I realize it has been awhile since the Spanish voice actor of Sonata Dusk passed away but I just wanted to do a little something to honor her memory. Whether it is good or not is completely up to you.
