“Pinkie? I’m home!” Twilight called as she entered the apartment the couple had started renting a few months ago,”Pinkie?” Twilight called again, surprised that she hadn’t received a vocal answer, or even acknowledgment that she was home,”She didn’t text me that she was going out…” Twilight muttered as she set the small stack of books that she has just checked out from the CHS library on the coffee table in the main room of the apartment,”Pinkie? Are you here?” The lavender teen called as she began to search the house. Even though she quickly found the familiar pink teen she was searching for, the sight of her wasn’t as pleasant as usual,”Pinkie?! Are you okay sweetie?” Twilight exclaimed in question as she entered the shared bedroom, where Pinkie was lying under the blankets, her eyes puffy and red from crying, and noticeable swelling in her throat. Pinkie only responded by giving Twilight a sad and painful look as fresh tears began to form on the brim of her crystal blue eyes,”Does your throat hurt?” Twilight asked, even though she knew the answer. Pinkie could only nod in response,”Why don’t we take you to the doctor?” Pinkie shot out of bed, shaking her head no furiously as she backed against the wall. This made Twilight’s confusion grow,”But...why? Don’t you want to feel better?” Pinkie nodded before looking at the floor, shame filling her eyes.
After staring observantly at her girlfriend, Twilight crossed the room and used her hand to lift Pinkie’s head so that their eyes met,”Are you... afraid of the doctors?” Twilight asked, cracking both concerned and amused smile. Tearing up, Pinkie looked down, letting the tears flow freely. Twilight sighed as she gently pulled the pink teen against her in an embrace. As she began to caress Pinkie’s hair, she thought of a way to help her girlfriend get better without a trip to the doctor’s office or the hospital,”How about this. I’ll do my best to heal you, but if you aren’t better within forty-eight hours, we go to the hospital. Deal?” After a few moments hesitation, Pinkie finally agreed with a small nod,”Great, now let’s get you back to bed, hungry?” Twilight asked as she led Pinkie back to the bed and pulled the covers over the sick teen once she was comfortably lying down. After a moment, she shook her head in refusal at the thought of food,”You sure?” Pinkie nodded his time, and turned away from Twilight, facing the wall. Sighing, the lavender teen began walking toward the bedroom door,”I guess I’ll check on you in a little while okay?” She said gently as she left the room and quietly closed the door behind her, as she walked into the living room to work on the books she had just checked out from the library.
Around an hour later Twilight started to hear movement from the bedroom, along with hoarse whimpers,”Huh? Pinkie? You alright?” Twilight called as she closed her book and walked back into the small bedroom, where she found Pinkie with tears streaming down her face, and pleading look in her eyes,”What’s wrong sweetie?” The teen asked as she sat at the bedside and took Pinkie into her embrace. Pinkie Pie only stared at the floor, Twilight sighed,"Sweetie, we need to go to the doctor. You'll feel so much-" Twilight was cut off as Pinkie once again jerked away from her embrace, and was pressing herself against the wall,"Fine fine...if you really want to wait the forty-eight hours, we will. Of course, if your condition gets much worse, I will drag you to the clinic." Pinkie stared at her girlfriend with teary eyes, her lip quivering. Twilight sighed,"Come here Pinkie," The lavender teen said, a soft smile on her face. However, that smile dropped when the pink teen appeared hesitant to approach her,"Pinkie? Why are you...are you scared of me?" Pinkie didn't move, and after a moment, the teen realized why her girlfriend refused to approach her,"Pinkie I'm not gonna make you go to the doctor if I can help you, I promise. I was just speaking thoughts. Okay?" Pinkie nodded slowly, and commenced to following Twilight's previous instructions, and walked up to her, sitting beside her on the bed,"Thank you, now, could you tell-" Twilight stopped when she remembered that her girlfriend was currently mute, she blushed slightly from embarrassment, and looked around, before smiling, as she picked up a small notepad and pencil from her bedside table,"-write down, what's hurting, and how it hurts." Nodding, Pinkie quickly scribbled everything down and handed the notebook back to Twilight.
'My throat hurts, really bad, it's like someone keeps stabbing my neck. That's it though, physical pain anyway...'
"Physical pain, anyway? What do you mean? What else is bothering you?" Pinkie looked at her, fear filling her eyes. This only elevated Twilight's worry for her even more,"What?" Pinkie grabbed the notebook again, slowly scrawled out a message, and after a moment of hesitation, handed the notepad back to Twilight.
'I...I don't want to get better...'
"What? Why!?" Twilight exclaimed, now confused, and extremely concerned.
'Well...lately at school...people have been bullying me...telling me that I would be better off if I was silent, and you would like me more if I didn't talk so much...so when I got sick, I thought if I stayed mute...I wouldn't ever run the risk of losing you because I talk too much...because I'm so annoying...'
Twilight found herself slack-jawed at what was written before her,"Who EVER told you that I thought you talked too much? Who bullies you for that matter?!" Anger began boiling inside the teen, it took all of her strength not to explode in the anger that was beginning to consume Twilight. Pinkie only looked down, it was obvious she wasn't going to relinquish that information so easily. Taking a long, deep breath to calm herself down, Twilight wrapped an arm around Pinkie Pie,"You know what, it doesn't matter what anybody else says because they're wrong. I love hearing you speak, and I could never get bored of listening to you talk for hours about any random thing. I love you, and everything that comes with you, whether it be your childish nature, your voice, or any of your crazy random hijinx! I love all of you, don't ever forget that." Pinkie stared at Twilight, and for the first time that whole day, she smiled, her lip quivering, as she pounced on her girlfriend in a hug. Laughing, Twilight kissed Pinkie's forehead,"Is that why you were afraid of the doctor?" Instantly, Pinkie was shaking her head no,"Okay, so you really do hate the doctor." Twilight snickered,"Fine fine, but will you at least let me help you now?" Pinkie nodded, and Twilight smiled,"Good, come on, I'm gonna make you some vegetable soup, that always helps soothe my throat when it's sore." Smiling, the two girls walked downstairs to the kitchen.
"Alright Pinkie, I know you need medicine, and since your throat is too swollen to handle solid foods, I took your medicine and crushed it up, and put it in the soup, as long as you eat all of it, you'll get the medication in your system. Pinkie nodded as she took her spoon and slowly sipped on her lunch. Twilight smiled,"I'll be in the living room reading, let me know when you're done." Twilight said as she left the room to find her book.
Around fifteen minutes later, Pinkie came into the living room and sat next to Twilight,"Did you finish the soup?" The lavender teen smiled when her girlfriend nodded,"Good! Hopefully, you'll feel better soon." The teen soon noticed Pinkie looking at her book,"Do you, want me to read it to you?" Pinkie smiled, and nodded enthusiastically, making Twilight giggled,"Alright!" Flipping to the beginning of the story, Twilight began to read.
Twilight slowly awoke with a yawn. She looked down to see Pinkie sleeping soundly in her lap, and the book they were currently reading on the floor. She looked at the clock to see it was just past midnight. Smiling, Twilight slowly stood up and held Pinkie in her arms as she carried her girlfriend upstairs and laid her in bed, before laying down beside her and wrapping her arms protectively around the teen,"I love you Pinkie Pie..." Twilight whispered, and she heard her giggle, Twilight gasped and looked at her,"Pinkie?!"
"Twi..." Although faint, and hoarse, Pinkie had indeed spoken.
"Looks like the medication is working!" Twilight giggled.
"Mhm...night..."
"Goodnight Sweetie," Twilight said, as the two drifted off to sleep.
