Finding Out About A Friends Death
Twilight was outside as she was shopping in nearby markets since she wanted to get more food for her castle before winter. It was cold out so she had to wear the thickest coat she could find but that of coarse wasn't easy.
As she shopped in the cold she wondered why her friends hadn't seen her at all that day. She hoped that they were all okay. She thought of the possibility of them staying at their places that day or she also imagined them taking a trip somewhere.
After she shopped for a bit she decided that it was time to go home. As she went home she planned to send a letter to Cadence when she got there she also thought about her birthday and wondered if anypony had something special planned for her that day.
Soon she made it to her castle, before she went in however she heard ponies whispering inside. It made her wonder why her friends were whispering so quietly as they never did that.
She decided to see why they were whispering so she opened the door and they turned around and looked at her. Twilight saw that her friends and Spike was there. So was Celestia and Shining Armor. Twilight became confused as to why Celestia and Shining Armor were there.
"What's going on? Why are all of you here? Aren't you supposed to be in Canterlot Celestia?" Twilight asked. Celestia hesitated to speak but spoke anyway.
"I was supposed to but I decided to come here as there is something important that you need to know. It's...not good news Twilight. I know you don't want to hear good news. Nopony wants to hear good news but you must hear this as it is so important for you to know." Celestia said. Twilight wondered what was so important that as she had to know right that minute
"Okay then just go ahead and say it then I'm listening. I'm prepared to hear it." Twilight told Celestia. Celestia hesitated as she knew that Twilight wasn't prepared for her to hear the news that she was about to tell her. She looked at Spike. Spike took a quick nervous glance at the princess and then looked back at Twilight as they prepared to tell Twilight the unfortunate news. Spike stood up and walked towards Twilight. He stopped and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"When I woke up to get started on work around the castle I checked in your room first and I saw that a message was in your journal from your friends in Canterlot High...when I read it I realized they were talking about Sunset Shimmer....They said that...Sunset Shimmer...was diagnosed with stage four Leukemia. The doctors gave her four months but....she couldn't make it...they found out that she was dead around noontime today....I'm so sorry Twilight." Spike said with a sad expression on his face.
Twilight didn't want to believe it. She wanted to try her hardest to deny as she just didn't want to hear that her friend was dead. She felt devastated, she shook her head as she looked at them all.
"No...I don't believe you...she was doing fine the last time I saw her in Canterlot High...your lying you have to be lying....she can't be dead! Please tell me that you are lying and that she is alive!" Twilight begged. Rarity looked at her sadly.
"I'm sorry darling...I know you cared about her. Individuals die everyday. If the portal was still open you could go but I wouldn't advise to do that as there already is...a counterpart of you in that world. It could confuse the citizens in that world. Other than that if you want to send a message to her family. You can do that." Rarity said. Twilight nodded but broke down as she cried.
All of her friends surrounded her and hugged her as she cried into their arms as she dealt with the news about Sunset Shimmer dying from cancer. She had never dealt pain like how she was feeling now. They all hugged her as they comforted her. She just let all of her sadness out that was building up the moment they had told her the news.
She finally calmed down and talk to her friends as they comforted her so that she could feel comforted all day. She hugged them and just let out her tears as she thought about Sunset Shimmer and all of the things she had done with her.
Over the next few days Twilight mourned for her friend as she sent several messages to her friends counterparts by using her book. Her friends from the other world wrote back telling her that they were sorry what happened. Twilight wished she could visit the other world but she knew that wasn't possible due to the world already having Twilight Sparkle their.
She wondered how her counterpart felt. She guessed that her counterpart felt just as sad as she did since Sinset Shimmer and that worlds Twilight Sparkle were best friends. She decided to write a letter to her other friends there which asked how her counterpart felt and they wrote one back saying that Twilight's other version felt just as sad as she did.
Twilight cried over the next few days as she dealt with the horrible loss of her friend in the other world. She had never had something like this happen to her as she had never lost a friend to a disease until now. She realized that it hurt a whole lot.
Spike also comforted her as well. Twilight took a break from work for the next week as she just wanted to moarn. She felt so grateful that her friends were by her side as she cried all week.
Twilight got therapy for finding out about her friend dying from cancer. She also advocated for finding a cure to the disease that took her friend in Canterlot High. She would always remember Sunset Shimmer.

Visiting Friends In The Human World
Twilight was sitting in her room thinking about Sunset Shimmer and remembering the days when she had become friends with Sunset Shimmer. She wanted to see her friends so bad as she wanted to comfort them so she decided to do that. She went to the portal and passed through it and then she saw that she had arrived in the human world.
She went to find her friends so that she could comfort them as they all needed to be comforted over the loss of their friend Sunset Shimmer. She decided to go see Rarity first and when she saw that Rarity was crying hysterically at her place so she went there and comforted her. She talked to her and told her that she was sorry about her loss and she also shared her grief with Rarity. They both cried together.
She then went to see Pinkie Pie and she saw that she was mourning as well so she comforted her. She talked to her and told her that she was sorry about her loss and she also shared her grief with Pinkie Pie. They also cried together as they hugged eachother profusely.
She also went to see Applejack and when she went there she saw that Applejack was trying to hold back tears to try and be tough but Twilight told her that it was okay to cry. She talked to her and told her that she was sorry about her loss and she also shared her grief with Applejack.
After that she went to see Rainbow Dash and when she went there she saw that Rainbow Dash was crying softly as she was trying to be tough just how Applejack had done but of coarse she failed miserably so she let the tears flow freely and Twilight comforted her and held her while she told her that she was sorry for her loss and she shared her grief with Applejack.
And finally she went to see Fluttershy last as she had seen all of her other friends before seeing Fluttershy. She knew that Fluttershy was be having a much harder time than her or her other friends and when she went to Fluttershy's home to comfort Fluttershy she saw that Fluttershy was crying as well but not as intense as the others as she was quieter than her other friends and Twilight comforted her and she held her as well while she told her that she was sorry for her loss and she shared her grief with Fluttershy.
She also went to talk to Spike back in Equestria and when she went there she also saw that Spike was sobbing like the rest of them but he was sobbing quietly so Twilight comforted him and she held Spike as well while she told Spike that she was sorry for Spike's loss and she shared her grief with Spike.
After a few weeks they all got together and mourned their friend who was now dead. They also went to the funeral and and mourned together for Sunset Shimmer as she had been their reformed friend. Everybody in Canterlot High attended the funeral as they cried profusely as they mourned the loss of their friend. Twilight and her friends couldn't hold their emotions throughout the funeral as they cried.
They made sure that when they cried during the funeral they cried quietly so that they didn't disrupt the service. Each of Twilight's friends gave speeches and when Twilight gave her speech she couldn't hold her tears back and and she let her tears roll down her face as she read her speech about her friend.
After the depressing but also uplifting funeral Twilight and all of her friends got together and brought up memories that they had shared with Sunset Shimmer. They spent an hour remembering her and then Twilight stayed over with her friends and then the next day she went back to Equestria.
When she got back to Equestria she talked to Celestia about bringing her deceased friend back to Equestria and Celestia let her so she went to the human world and retrieved the body of Sunset Shimmer and brought her back to Equestria. Celestia had a small ceremony for her deceased student and then Sunset Shimmer's body was given to her parents.
Twilight and Celestia comforted Sunset Shimmer's parents and they were glad to have learned from Sunset Shimmer's parents that Sunset Shimmer did go back to Equestria to see them a couple of times before she had died in the other world. A few days after she Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia comforted Sunset Shimmer's parents Twilight visited Sunset Shimmer's grave.
Twilight retrieved Sunset Shimmer's magical book that she had used to send messages to Celestia and Twilight and she gave it back to Celestia so that Celestia would have something to remember her deceased student. She had the right to own it anyway as she had given it to Sunset Shimmer when Sunset Shimmer was still her student. She cried over the book that was used for communication between the two of them for days as Twilight and her friends comforted her.
She stayed there for half an hour as she mourned for her friend and then she left as she went to a park so she could be alone. She was lucky that nobody was around as she could cry without being disturbed. She mourned for a few more days and then she got back to work for Equestria as Equestria needed her.
She would always remember Sunset Shimmer. She would always miss the girl that she had reformed for the better. She was very lucky to have a pal to send letters back and forth to as well as she had sent a lot of letters to Sunset Shimmer before Sunset Shimmer's death and Sunset Shimmer had sent a lot of letters to Twilight as well before Sunset Shimmer's death She would never forget Sunset Shimmer for as long as she lived her natural.
