//-------------------------------------------------------// In the Space Between -by Tranquil Stone- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Small Simple Town //-------------------------------------------------------// Small Simple Town It was another day in the small town of Ponyville. Everyone was on there way to work or school. A pretty white unicorn mare with fabulously curled hair stepped out of her house. It was Rarity. Everywhere she went, people smiled at her lovely demeanour, and boys fell for her. "Applejack, darling, time for school!" she called, trotting to the local grave. An orange Earth pony with blonde hair in in ponytail, and a Stetson county hat stepped outside. Unlike Rarity, people gave her strange looks and whispered. She was the witch girl of the town. She always did strange things, like staying around a grave, and wearing black on every occasion. But still, Applejack and Rarity were best friends. "Comin' Rarity" said Applejack, grabbing her black saddlebag. "Another day in little old Ponyville" smiled Rarity, "But soon I'll have a prince, and a castle" "Ya know that's not real- right?" Applejack said, rolling her eyes as they walked. "Oh it's real all right, I can feel it" Every day, Rarity fantasised of her future prince, while Applejack wanted nothing to do with boys. "Ah think our friendship is all we need" said Applejack. The girls went through the usual boring classes, and dull lunches as always. "Remember darling, apply blush with upward strokes" said Rarity, levitating the blush. "I don't see why I need it!" complained Applejack, grimacing as the brush drew nearer. "Ah! No Applejack, grimacing give you wrinkles" reminded Rarity, "And when I go on with my prince, I want you to get wed to a nice stableboy or something" The afternoon dragged on, as the pair headed back to the grave, Applejack's home. "See you tomorrow darling" said Rarity. "Goodnight!" said Applejack. All of a sudden, Rarity spotted a lovely jewelled mirror. "Oh, I have to keep this" gushed Rarity, admiring herself in the mirror. And then, the mirror glowed and vibrated, creating a light show. Applejack was heading inside, but saw her friend being sucked inside. "Rarity! Hold on!" she cried, trying to pull her out of the suction of the mirror. Applejack's grip loosened, and with a scream, they both disappeared into the mirror. Rarity opened her eyes to find herself in a disgusting, sticky moat. "Eew!" she cried, getting out onto the black pavement. "Applejack!" she called. "Here Rarity!" called Applejack. Instead of a moat, Applejack found herself in a beach, with sparkling sand. Thought a moat would have been better for her, it has great healing and smells great. Rarity ran towards her friend, but she slammed into a barrier. Getting up, she tapped her hoof against the invisible wall. "There seems like some kind of invisible barrier here!" cried Rarity, "Which means I'm stuck in this disgusting world" A castle black as tar stood tall behind her, with bubbling stinky moats everywhere. "And I'm stuck here!" Applejack pointed towards a castle white as crystal, surrounded by pristine lagoons, and rainbows everywhere. "I was meant to be there, in a beautiful castle with my prince!" moaned Rarity. "Really? We should worry about how to get out" Applejack said, not admitting she would love to go to the castle which Rarity was stuck with. "We can multi-task" said Rarity, "I suggest we should go and ask people how to get out of here" "Good plan. We'll meet here tomorrow" said Applejack. Both girls turned around, gulped, and headed the the castles. Rarity trudged through the dirt and muck of the icky land she was in. She delicately tried to avoid it, but her hooves were stained with dirt by now. Rarity looked around, and saw other ponies her age there as well. Some had crazy hair, warts, distorted faces, creepy horns. Rarity freaked out when she saw a purple and green small dragon run towards her. "Hi. I'm Spike. Woah, you sure are pretty!" said the dragon. Rarity put her fear aside and talked to him. "Um, Spike, I'm Rarity. How do we get out of here?" "Get out of here? Why would you want to leave? I don't want you to leave" said Spike, saying the last part dreamily. "Long story. Now about getting out-" started Rarity. "Not possible. Only person with that sort of magic is Princess Luna" explained Spike,"But no one has ever seen her. Ever!" "Good enough for me!" said Rarity walking off, "Wait, where can I live?" "With me...I mean! Uh, since everyone is new here, you'll be assigned roommates and sent off to quests tommorow morning- speaking of, you dropped your sheet" said Spike, handing her a sheet with three names written. Rarity of Ponyville to room with: Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie Meanwhile, Applejack had caused a real commotion in her side. She had stepped on a vegetable patch, getting into an argument with the gardener, splattered mud on a girl's dress, who made a big fuss, and called another girl's clothes 'ugly', sending her off in tears. When she arrived at the castle, she was astounded by what she saw. Pixies and fairies were flitting around, and mare's dancing and singing around in poofy dresses, with silver pathways leading to the castle, and princes duelling with swords. "Seems like something out of Rarity's imagination" muttered Applejack. Out of the sky, a sheet fell into her hooves. Applejack of Ponyville to room with: Twilight Sparkle, Starlight Glimmer "Hi, I'm assuming you're Applejack?" asked a purple alicorn mare, with straight darker purple hair, with streaks of pink. "Yes and you are?" asked Applejack. "Twilight Sparkle, and this is my friend Starlight Glimmer, we're rooming with you" said Twilight, pointing to a light purple unicorn mare with dark purple hair, with streaks of teal. "May I ask why you have a black saddlebag, and- are here?" asked Starlight, "You don't seem like someone who belongs here" "My black saddlebag is better than you prissy pink one, and A'm not to fond of stain' here anyway. Iffin' you excuse me, ah need to get out of here" said Applejack. "If you want to get out of here, you need to see Princess Celestia, but no one has ever seen her!" said Starlight. "Princess who-what-now?" //-------------------------------------------------------// No escape! //-------------------------------------------------------// No escape! When a Rarity entered room number 103, she was greeted by three faces. The first mare, was a cyan coloured Pegasus with a rainbow mane, and Rarity assumed she was Rainbow Dash. The second girl was also a Pegasus, with pale yellow skin and flowing light pink mane. And finally, a pink coloured Earth pony with a grinning face and extremely curly dark pink hair. "Um, hello, my name is Rarity, I'm your roommate" introduced Rarity. Rainbow Dash growled. "How did this creep get here?" she said. Rarity lifted her head, offended. "I don't know, but look at her hair. She looks like a prissy princess" said Fluttershy. "I thinks she's not like us, but let's be nice. Hello, I'm Pinkie Pie" said Pinkie. Rainbow slammed her hoof against her face. "Don't know how Pinkie got here. She's not much better than you are. But she's somewhat evil. This girl?" Rainbow chuckled, "Looks like what happened when rainbows vomit on you" "Say the mare who had a rainbow mane" shot Rarity. Rainbow Dash groaned, "Forgot to dye it yesterday" "So, um, you're one of us now?" asked Fluttershy timidly. "No way! I'm the leader here, and future best villain in the world. I've already won twelve quests!" said Rainbow Dash, dying here hair black. "Oh! You can make creepy decorations with us and dye your hair black and make it matted and limpy, so you look evil!" Pinkie said. Rainbow Dash coughed."Fine. Sorry, you can't be part of the coven" "Coven?" Rarity was confused. "The coolest girls at Quest Evil!" bragged Rainbow Dash, finally finished with the dye. "Quest Evil?" "This world is called Quest Evil, where we do quests. The more quests you complete the higher your rank. With the highest rank, you could rule this world!" explained Fluttershy. Rarity stared. "We have to find a way to get rid of this stuck up princess" snarled Rainbow Dash, "I'll file a compliant to Princess Luna, she has the highest rank here yet" "How many quests does she have?" asked Rarity. "100 000" said Pinkie, "She is so good at magic she can use immortality" "So how old is she?" "What are we? A dictionary?" snapped Rainbow Dash. "I need to get out of here- fast!" muttered Rarity. Meanwhile, Twilight and Starlight were telling Applejack about the quests, except for good. "So you're daughters of fairytale princesses?" asked Applejack incredulously. The pair nodded. "I'm Belle's daughter, from 'Beauty and the Beast' amd Starlight is Aurora's daughter, from 'Sleeping Beauty'" explained Twilight. "Come on, we don't want to be late for the flower choosing!" said Starlight "Flower what now?" "All the Princes are going to turn the opposite way, and magic will carry it into his destined princess' hooves" said Twilight, "Of course, every girl wants-" "Trenderhoof's" sighed Starlight dreamily. Applejack rolled her eyes. This sounded like Rarity 100%! An hour later, the girls and boys lined up. The boys held their flower, and threw it into the air. The mares fought for Trenderhoof's flower, a rose, as it flew in the air. The rose stopped midair, as if looking for the right mare. If fell, and landed right into Applejack's hooves. "Oh no" muttered Applejack. She wanted nothing to do with boys, she wanted to get home in one piece. "Excuse me? My name is Trenderhoof, aka. Trend. I'm the Soon-to-be King of Canterlot" said Trend, walking up to her. "Wow, you sure are modest" said Applejack sarcastically. "When you're as great as me, it's called being humble. Who are you to tell me, weirdo?" shot Trend. "Weirdo? Uh! I can't wait to get home to the graveyard" said Applejack. "Graveyard! You're a witch! You don't belong here!" cried Trend. "Exactly, I don't belong here with creeps like you" said Applejack. The next night, Rarity and Applejack met up, after two days of settling in. "This place is awful, just awful!" cried Rarity. "You're tellin' me! Luckily, we'll be meetin' up, both worlds will be in the stadium tomorrow mornin' " said Applejack. "I guess, I'll see you tomorrow" said Rarity, heading back to the castle, as Applejack headed to hers. He next day, the two sides, Quest Good and Quest Evil met up in the stadium. Rarity waved framtically at Applejack, and Applejack waved back. Then Rarity saw him. Trenderhoof. She immediately fell for his looks, the way his hair just lightly fell, and rested. Rarity pointed her hoof and Trend, and Applejack rolled her eyes. "Greetings. My name is Princess Celestia, first time I have come out, highest rank of Quest Good. My sister Princess Luna could not attend due to her constant nagging that 'Evil should not be seen, only known of'" said an white alicorn with green, pink, blue wavy mane. The Evil side roared enthusiastically. "Now, without further ado, here are your Quests for Day 1. Good luck everypony!" said Princess Celestia. Scrolls fell into every students hand, as they read their quest. Applejack and Rarity had the same quest, with a few other people, including Trenderhoof, which Rarity was ecstatic about. It was the villains would disguise as good, and lay in a stone coffin, and if a prince chose you, and you were evil, you win, by tricking the prince. If you're good, and a prince chose you, you were destined to be with them and win. If you don't get chosen, you fail. So Applejack lied down in a coffin, hoping not to be chosen. And Rarity was desperate for Trend to pick her. But Rarity saw Trend inching towards Applejack's coffin, and jealousy coursed through her. She lit up her horn, and magically swapped places. So when Trend opened the coffin, he saw Rarity, when he was drawn to Applejack. "Hey, aren't you that girl everyone says is meant to be in Quest Good?" asked Trend, "Lovely to meet you" Rarity felt her heart skip a beat. "Um, I'm Rarity, nice to meet you" she giggled. "I'll see you at lunch- Rarity" said Trend. Rarity felt a pang of guilt as Trend walked away. He was drawn to Applejack, not her. She changed places with her best friend to get the boy. Rarity brushed off the guilt. "Applejack doesn't even like boys anyway" she said to herself. Little did she know now it was twice in a row Applejack had been chosen for Trend, and she had stopped her friend from reaching her true love. Author's Note Please please feel free to leave comments, likes, dislikes, folder adds, follows, whatever! Enjoy the chapter, next one should be out roughly two days, perhaps earlier! //-------------------------------------------------------// Kiss the Girl //-------------------------------------------------------// Kiss the Girl "So, Miss Rarity, why are you friends with that Applejack?" asked Trend at lunch. "Oh, well, girls as pure as me have to make friends with everyone. And Applejack may be...different, but she's lovely" said Rarity. "One thing confuses me. You are good, obviously, so why are you in evil?" asked Trend. "I haven't the slightest clue, I thought about asking Princess Luna" said Rarity. The bell rang. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow Rarity" said Trend, leaving Rarity light-headed. Applejack trotted over, shooting Trend a glare, sat in front of Rarity. "Instead of fining your 'prince' I suggest we get out of here" said Applejack. "Yes yes, and I've figured out how!" said Rairty. "What?" asked Applejack. "True love's kiss! Works every time!" said Rarity, then to hear a groan come from Applejack, "Do you have a better idea? "Who are you gonna kiss anyway?" "Isn't it obvious? Trend!" replied Rarity. "Fine. Let's get the kiss and get out of here. I can't stand those stuck up princesses anymore" said Applejack, getting up and leaving. Meanwhile, walking back to Quest Evil, Rainbow Fluttershy and Pinkie were plotting on how to get rid of Rarity. Mostly Rainbow anyway. "That girl is pure good. Why is she here?" said Rainbow. "Maybe she is evil. I mean Trend did pick her!" Pinkie pointed out. "But only the wort of Evil can do that. And she was picked as a princess, not a villain" said Rainbow Dash. "I think there's more to her than meets the eye. I think you're worried she'll beat your record of worst villain Dashie" said Fluttershy. "Don't call me that, and I'm not worried" "She makes a good point. You destroy everyone who gets in your way" added Pinkie. "What are you saying? Look at her! She has a Prince wrapped around her finger!" shrieked Rainbow. "Exactly! Evil does that. Trap the prince and then kill him" said Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash groaned and stormed off. When Rarity entered the room, she saw the fire of anger in Rainbow's eyes. Fluttershy looked at her, a mix of determination and force, and Pinkie Pie just beamed. "Girls, should we tell Rarity here how we treat outsiders?" said Rainbow Dash. "Hugs!" said Pinkie, as Rainbow Dash slammed her hoof in her face. "No! We destroy them!" said Rainbow Dash, menacingly towards her. Rarity ran out of the room, as saw the first face to escape. She spotted Spike entering his room. She ran in, dragging him in, and locked the door. Rarity breathed a sigh of relief, as Spike stared at her. "So nice of you to drop in. Now, about a date-" started Spike. "I'm gonna have to hide here. Spike can you go outside?"interrupted Rarity. "Um, this is my room?" reasoned Spike, but looking at Rarity batt her eyelashes flirtatiously changed his mind. Fifteen minutes later, Spike found himself sitting outside his own room, while Rarity sat inside. "Um, Rarity, can I get a blanket and pillow?" asked Spike, as a blanket and pillow came flying out the door. "So, Applejack, what are you wearing to the Spring Ball?" asked Twilight, the next morning, applying makeup. "Spring Ball?" Applejack asked. "All the girls get ready for it with the finest dresses, and boys ask out a girls" explained Starlight, packing her bag. Applejack rolled her eyes. "What if you don't wanna go?" Starlight and Twilight gaped at her. "Um, so, that isn't an option?" said Applejack. That night, Trend had invited Rarity to meet her in the forest. Applejack had snuck along, to help her get that kiss. "Hello Rarity, you look marvellous" complimented Trend. "You too" giggled Rarity, as Applejack gagged quietly in the bushes. "The moon is lovely tonight, reminds me of someone" said Trend. "Who?" "She's beautiful" said Trend, inching forward. "Yes?" said Rarity. "She's adorable" "Yes?" "She's close by" "Do I know her?" breathed Rarity. "More than anything" said Trend, leaning in for a kiss. Applejack nearly jumped for joy. All of a sudden, they heard a twig snap, and Trend turned around. "Oh, come on!" whispered Applejack. The ball was coming, and so was the final quest and talent showcase. Obviously, Evil wasn't invited, but Trend still asked Rarity out. Applejack thought they could get the kiss then. The final quest would send the top questers of both sides and the talent showcase was for both sides to show off. Applejack had been studying hard, even if she didn't like the whole 'good' thing. Evil sounded way better, and Beautification 101 Quests were the worst! On the other hand, Rarity was acing her classes by accident. In one of her quests, Rarity had to fight off a Bugbear. She whistled, knowing fairytale princesses always called birds or something. Instead of birds, swarms of bees, dozens of bats, and rats attacked it. In another quest, everyone had to dress up as evil as they could. Of course, Rarity was devastated, but did as she was told. Surprisingly, the judge thought Rarity was purest evil! When the final quest arrived, of braving the fpdangers of the forest, Trend promised to protect Raroty, and in exchange, Rarity vowed to protect him. "Remember Rarity, we have to get to the end, no matter what!" Applejack reminded. "Of course Darling, I've worked hard. We'll make it to the end" reassured Rarity. The day arrived, and the top ten got ready at the starting line. Trend and Rarity smiled at each other, and at the sound of the horn, ran into the forest. Rarity stepped lightly, afraid to meet anything scary. She heard quiet hisses from the bushes, but ignored it and continued further. Out of the bushes lept a manticore, and Rarity screamed. Before the manticore could hurt her, Trenderhoof ran forward and led the manticore away. Rarity smiled appreciatively. "Rarity!" Trend called out, his hoof stuck in glue-like-mud, looking for help. "Sorry" mouthed Rarity, running off, abandoning her Prince and go to safety. Trend closed his eyes for impact as the manticore opened his mouth to eat him. Applejack leapt forward and placed a chair in it's mouth. "Hurry!" cried Applejack, dragging Trend. When they stopped for breath after losing the beast, Trend saw something in Applejack. Something that Rarity didn't have. Something deep. "You saved me?" he said. "Of course. I hate you, but I can't let you die" Applejack said. Trend stared at her, the girl he called witch and insulted all this time. That was something admirable. "Come on let's go" When they came out of the forest, Rarity was already there. "I nearly died, and you abandoned me!" yelled Trend, "Applejack saved me, but I thought we were in this together" "Trend, we are in this together!" pleaded Rarity. "But we're not, Rarity. We're not" shouted Trend. "I had to, we had to get out of here" said Rarity, tears streaming down her face. "Forget it. We're done Rarity. You're just too selfish!" said Trend, walking away. Rarity wiped away her hot tears, and glared at her best friend with hatred. She felt herself burn up, and she wanted to scream and go all evil. "Rarity I-" started Applejack. "If you all are going to see me as evil, I'll do just that" sneered Rarity, leaving Applejack torn between worlds.
