It Starts Early

Syrupy Sweet

"Aww, look at that," the elderly mare draws attention to a colt and filly resting on the park bench, sleeping while she uses his shoulder as a cushion and him using her head as a pillow, "They look adorable."

"Yeah. It's a shame that the rain will be breaking up this moment pretty soon."

"Let's leave them be."

As the pair of seniors continue their walk through the park, the exhausted colt lifts his eyes open a shade, "Hear that? It'll be raining soon."

"It's about time," the filly whispers, groggy as she shifts her weight on him, "I'm starting to get a little sore from being stuck like this."

"Hope that teaches you to think twice before touching anyone after eating pancakes drenched in maple syrup."

"..." she nuzzles into his shoulder, whiffing in his scent before letting out a blissful sigh, "...I'm a girl that never learns her lesson."
