Hello Everyone, I have never been good with first chapters. Though here it is!! The first chapter of Mavericks Asylum, I am very excited to be working on this new tale and to be sharing it with you all! Those who submitted an OC to this story you might already have a clue where your character might be already. Or perhaps your OC has already been mentioned in this chapter.

Loyalty

PROLOGUE

The head of the child contorts, twisting backward. The sounds of the bones in neck snap, ripping from their place. Along unnatural grin spreads across the face of the spirit as blood drips down from the deformed ponies head onto the ground in front of Spike. The little dragon trembles on the ground below, whispers from the nursery echo into his head like a virus as all the children surround him. Their shadows casting in the blackness even with no light available to cast them. Reaching quickly for his flashlight Spike screams as loud as he could.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!" Shinning the flashlight towards the deformed child, it vanishes into thin air. Spike looks around frantically to see that all the children had left from the light. "Twilight!! Hibana!! ANYPONY!!"

The dragon's eyes close tightly as he hugs the flashlight close to his chest for comfort, the ponies of Ponyville were wrong about this place, it is a whole lot worse than any story Spike heard earlier that day. The shadow fillies giggle in the darkness at Spike as he cowers in fear. Spike begins to whisper a prayer to himself, a desperate last attempt to stop all of this from happening.

"Mother Celestia, my heart is filled with chaos and confusion. I feel as if I am drowning in my circumstances and my heart is filled with fear and confusion. I really need the strength and peace that only you ..." Spike feels the flashlight rip from his grasp soon after he begins to pray for strength. Opening his eyes, a mist of a pony hovers in front of his face ... blood red eyes illuminate from the dark shadow staring back into Spike. "Please ... I didn't know"

"Where is your Princess now, Dragon"

CHAPTER ONE: LOYALTY

"Hey, Spike? Everything is ready to go" Rainbow swoops down to the ground from a tree she was resting on moments ago, the mare smiles looking down now at the small dragon. "This is going to be so awesome!! What if we actually see a ghost!?"

"Twilight says there are no such things as ghosts," Spike says with a shrug looking up at Rainbow Dash, "I think the only reason she is coming along, is to prove you and everypony the lack of their existence"

Rainbow's ear twitches listening to Spike explain Twilight's reasoning, this trip was planned only a week ago and Rainbow is sure she has heard this over a hundred times from both Spike and Twilight. Mavericks Asylum, that is where the mane six was heading to. The massive asylum, the asylum Rainbow Dash's Father hated the mare playing around as a filly. Always saying the place was dangerous, that somepony would get hurt if she wasn't careful. Being an adult now and with her fathers recent passing, the pegasus really wants to see exactly why. The Asylum was located in the middle of nowhere, only one road leading to the large structure. The closest town and the town with the biggest history with the Asylum is Ponyville.

"Granny Smith used to tell me stories of that place, however, the stories never scared me," Applejack says pulling her head out of the truck of the carriage. "I wonder what the other ponies of Ponyville have to say about the place"

"That is because those stories were made to keep little fillies from doing bad things," Twilight says as she slowly approaches her friends. The Alicorn levitates a book into her saddlebag and giggles, "Like the boogiepone, the stories aren't real"

Rainbow Dash can't help herself but feel bad hearing Twilight's disbelief, the mare's ears pinning back and a very slight frown grows on her face. Though very slight because it took a lot to actually get the tough pegasus really upset, however, Rainbow knew that the stories were very real to her father before his sudden passing. Twilight steps over to Rainbow Dash's side placing one wing over her back, a smile on Twilight's face reminds everypony that even if she was the disbeliever of them all that she would be open to any evidence that might prove her wrong.

"So Darling, where are we supposed to meet these new friends of yours?" Rarity pokes her head out of the carriage, the unicorn using a file on her hoof. "Those ... spiritual ruffians, I like to call them that because of their poor ratings"

"Rarity, they are ghost hunters ... I also chose them because they don't have a fanbase to please doing this" Rainbow huffs a bit and looks to her unicorn friend now, "Hibana said that she would love this opportunity because it will give her a chance to actually capture something real"

"I think that is wonderful Rainbow Dash" Applejack beams a smile finishing up getting everything ready, "You will be giving those ponies a chance to do something they have probably always wanted to do!" AJ adjusts her hat to keep it tight on top of her head. "Mavericks Asylum might have a bunch of scary stories behind it, however, the place isn't going to eat us. The place is just a building after all and I am sure we will have a lot of fun doing this"

Rarity moves over in the carriage as Applejack pulls herself up to take a seat next to her, Spike checks one last thing off the list Twilight made before hurrying over to the carriage himself to start the trip to meet Hibana's Ghost Hunters. Pinkie Pie, who surprisingly stayed quiet this whole time bounces up to her seat on the carriage with a laugh. Everypony knew that eventually, she would start talking, then from there it probably would never end. Twilight Sparkle looks over Rainbow Dash with a slight blush on her face before she levitated a few more things into her saddlebag, moving over to the pegasus she uses her magic to pick her up, setting her in her seat on board the carriage. Rainbow looks down as she is picked up by the alicorn magic with a confused look spread across her face.

"You know I can walk right?" Rainbow speaks softly as she is moved to her place, "I am in a hurry but you still seem more excited than I do Twilight"

"I like the opportunity to try new things, Rainbow Dash" Twilight gives a quick wink before pulling a book out and beginning to read it. "I also like continuing old things"

Rainbow wiggles a bit as the carriage begins to move on the path, the beginning of the day was going to be the most boring to the Pegasus thrill seeker. Twilight has this idea of getting some information around Ponyville about the old Asylum before actually going to the place and getting inside. That was the plan everypony agreed to, except for Rainbow Dash. Before that, it was time to meet up with Hibana and her friends at Sugarcube Corner, Rainbow has this strange feeling that she couldn't explain, almost like something was going to go wrong. The pegasus knows however that through anything that happens tonight, her friends are going to be there no matter what! They are one Loyal Team
