//-------------------------------------------------------// Love at Everfree -by solusjbj- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Starting Over //-------------------------------------------------------// Starting Over "Night Twilight, see you in the morning." Twilight let out a huge yawn as she curled up in bed. "Goodnight Sunset." Sunset gave a small smile as she saw Twilight fast asleep. After the day we just had I'm surprised she didn't fall asleep sooner. She was still awake in bed in the warmth and surprising comfort of their shared tent, or rather small room, provided for every camper at Camp Everfree. Turning to lay on her back Sunset wanted to sleep but the thoughts of finding the magical geodes and gaining new magic both excited and worried her. Why is Equestrian magic here and how did it know where to find us? Honestly gotta ask Princess Twilight about these new powers. And then there was the whole stopping Gloriosa thing, resolving Twilight's issues with Midnight Sparkle, the work setting up the Crystal Ball tomorrow, and then running the fundraiser to hopefully to save the camp. She turned and shut her eyes in an effort to block out her thoughts, sinking her head into her pillow trying to get some sleep. Try as she might she couldn't help but feel like she was forgetting something. Just as her thoughts started to lull a memory wormed its way into her head. "Look, maybe you and me, we could start over as... friends." Sunset's eyes snapped open with apparent worry on her face. I can't believe I ignored Flash like that, I gotta make things right. Grabbing her phone she quickly brought up the text messages to Flash's number and was suddenly reminded by the toxic insults they had sent each other when they broke up. Scrolling up she also saw the rude messages sent back and forth when they dated some time ago. Ignoring the past texts and her creeping self-loathing she sent out a message hoping for a reply. SS: Hey you awake? ... FS: Yeah I'm still awake what's up? SS: This is gonna sound weird but SS: Can I talk to you right now SS: In person? ... FS: Is everything ok? SS: Please Flash it's about us SS: About starting over ... FS: Sure but where? SS: How about the campfire pit FS: Ok then SS: Great! See you in like 5 Sunset sat up and cracked her back a stretch. She slipped her legs out of the covers and got up from bed, making sure not to wake Twilight. Not wanting to go through the trouble of changing into her camp clothes, she kept the magenta pajamas and put on some slippers. Taking in a deep breath she quietly left the tent to be met with the crisp night air. Maybe I should've worm something warmer. She thought while rubbing her forearms. Making her way to her destination she couldn't help but appreciate all that happened at camp today, and even though they had to deal with yet another magical crisis, she wouldn't have changed it for the world. Upon seeing the burnt out campfire she internally groaned. Why couldn't my magic be fire spells or something? But she knew well that beggars can't be choosers. Seeing that she was the first one here, she sat on one of the benches and just took in the scenery. The smell of burnt wood, the way the wind whistled through the trees, how the trees rustled and swayed as it picked up, the clarity of the moon doubled against the stillness of the lake, the little chirps and squeaks of wildlife scattered around the forest. She closed her eyes, it was so peaceful that she almost forgot about- "Hey Sunset." Sunset turned to see Flash standing nearby and smiled. "Hey." She replied and patted the space next to her. He had the same idea and also arrived in pajamas, dressed lightly in his trademark white shirt, gray sweatpants, and slippers. Taking a seat next to her he saw her looking at the ground, her brows furrowed in thought. Deciding to be patient he waited until Sunset was ready to speak up. "...Flash, earlier today you talked about us starting over, and I'm sorry that I shrugged you off like that and ran off. I hope I didn't make you feel too bad." "Eh it's alright I just figured you were busy, and with what happened with Gloriosa's magic and the camp? I'm just glad you're ok. She still looked at the ground while Flash continued. "I also heard you helped Twilight with her fears of magic, didn't take too hard to figure out that she was the one you were looking for. Told you you're a good friend." Sunset looked up with a pained smile. "And I'm super grateful you think that of me." She gripped her hands together for the next question. "But how?" "What do you mean?" "How could you possibly want to start over when I ignored you today? Not only that how can you not hate me for how I was when we were dating? That I used you for popularity? That I strung you along then cut you loose? It's just... HOW?!" She stopped her rant breathing hard in seething anger. Her knuckles started to hurt from gripping it too tight. Silence began to fill the air between the two, Flash had on a mask of stillness while Sunset slowly calmed her breathing. Quietly he put a hand on her still clenched fists which immediately surprised her. "Because... it's the right thing to do. Living through hate and anger, even directed at yourself... it's not healthy. Better to forgive and forget y'know." She listened with confusion apparent on her face. He smile and spoke again. "Sunset, I forgive you. I've already forgiven you for what happened in the past, and if today is anything to go by, everyone can now see the passionate, ambitious, and determined girl that I met all those years ago." Sunset felt tears welling in her eyes. "Minus the cruelty of course." She chuckled as tears lightly fell from her eyes. She quickly wiped the tears with her sleeve and raised her hand to gently punch his shoulder. "Jerk." She said with a small tap. "And if we're starting over then I hope you can forgive me too." She sniffed a little. "For what?" "For the Battle of the Bands. For calling you 'the bad girl we love to hate', you were trying to be a better person and it wasn't fair for me to call you that." "Well, it's like you said right? Forgive and forget." She said with a smile. "Besides, I know what we could do to restart our friendship." Suddenly Sunset got up from the bench and turned to face Flash, grabbing his hands and pulling him until he also stood up. Wrapping her arms around him she pulled him into a tight hug and placed her head on his chest. He reciprocated and wrapped his arms around her back while laying his head near her shoulder. The two shared a moment of intimacy as they closed their eyes and took in the sounds. After a while Flash became aware of two points of stiffness from her body while made him blush. A familiar sensation started swelling in his groin which he knew Sunset must've felt because she broke the hug with a slight blush on her face too. Flash nervously scratched the back of his head. "Pretty cold out tonight huh?" "Y-yeah." Sunset responded while crossing her arms in front of her body. He cleared his throat. "Well, we should probably go to sleep, got a big day ahead of us... I'll see you tomorrow." Flash turned to go back to his tent when Sunset stopped him by grabbing his arm. "Or we could go to your tent and... warm up together." She asked through heated cheeks stunning Flash. Shaking out of his daze he shot back. "What? We can't, I'm bunking with Bulk Biceps." "Well we can't go back to my tent, Twilight would freak out if she saw you in there." "Still if we go back to my tent Bulk will hear us." "Then we'll be quiet." "He'll see us in the morning!" "Not with you and the covers hiding me." He rubbed his forehead with his free hand. "This is such a bad idea." Sunset moved in closer and leaned up, giving him a long kiss that he melted into. "Please?" He just couldn't say no to those pleading eyes and slowly nodded much to Sunset's delight. They held hands and walked from the campfire pit to the tent Flash stayed in. With worry on both their faces they shared a look and opened the flap to slip inside. She entered his empty bed first and quickly settled under the covers. Curling up her legs she shimmied out of her pajama bottoms and panties, kicking them off the edge of the bed. Slipping off her pajama top over her head, she flung it to the side and awaited Flash with a sensual look. Flash wasted no time in throwing off his pajamas and underwear and joining her under the covers, his mouth hungry for more. He climbed on top and met her with a loving kiss. They caressed their bodies, feeling the heat rising in their limbs after being out in the cold. Releasing the lip lock they gazed at each other warmly before Sunset nodded with a smile. Flash pushed in and rocked their bodies together, causing hushed moans to escape only to be silenced by another deep kiss. She wrapped her arms around digging her fingernails in his back, while he let go of the kiss to reach forward and nibble on her neck. Taking in a sharp breath her heart raced trying to stay quiet, wary of Bulk and other sleeping campers, as he continued. Her pleasure built and she shuddered, arcing her back up and locking her legs around him while letting out a breathy sigh. At the same time, he let out a groan and thrust forward, keeping her in place until he finished, before collapsing onto her chest panting. Rolling off her body and onto his back, he felt sleep creeping in as she turned to lie on her side and cuddled close. Feeling exhausted they quickly fell into a blissful sleep, caring about nothing else but each other. Later that morning Bulk biceps woke up well rested from a good night's sleep, ready to get some work done for the camp, and more importantly, on himself. Getting up from bed he cracked his neck and went to grab some new clothes. After putting them on and getting ready he turned to go wake up the still sleeping Flash, but noticed that there were two people under his covers this morning. Inching closer he saw various pajamas scattered on the floor, messy red and yellow hair and the one and only Sunset Shimmer snuggled close to his body, spooning Flash from behind. Smiling, Bulk left the two lovers in peace and quietly exited the tent. Ruby Tent is the BEST! "Uhh Flash, are you in here?" Twilight nervously announced as entered, letting light into the dark tent. "We haven't seen from you all day and Bulk told me you might still be in..." Her mouth stopped at the sight of long red and yellow hair, her body tensed when she heard a familiar voice groan away from the light, her mind ran when she saw two sleeping bodies spooning under the covers in bed, their clothes crumpled on the floor. Now it all made sense. Why they couldn't find Sunset, why they didn't see Flash, why Bulk told her that he might still be in the tent. It was because- "Twilight?" Half asleep Flash squinted one eye open at the figure still holding the tent flap open. "OH MY GOSH! I am so sorry! Bulk said- and you weren't- and Sunset was-, I-I'll just leave you two alone now!" With a deep blush she bolted from the tent and rushed back to her friends. Back in the tent the blinding light went away along with the voice of Twilight. "Mmmm, thanks Twi." Sunset mumbled out before her eyes shot open and instantly raised her head up. "Twilight!" She heard the distinctive dual laughter of Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie booming outside the tent and frowned. Sunset flopped back down on the bed next to the softly snoring Flash. "Great..." Author's Note Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the story.
