"MICHAEL!"
I cringed as my boss screamed my name. "Yes Sarah, what do you need?" I asked.
"I need you to work the grill and get me five large hamburgers down now, the customers are getting impatient. I would have Jonathan do it, but he just left sick and now we need someone there ASAP," the boss replied. I groaned in frustration
(because im a lazy fuck). "Today, Michael!" Sarah screamed.
I then ran into the back where the grill sat. I went over each of the knobs which lay near the top of the grill. I turned the first knob to 375 degrees. I then turned and searched for the burgers I was told to cook until finally I noticed that we had ran out. I groaned loudly and turned around to the hallway leading back to the freezer.
As I broke into a half sprint, and I ran down the short corridor, I finally arrived at my destination. As I pulled out my keys to unlock the freezer, I fumbled with them for a second and finally found and stuck the correct key into the keyhole.
I opened the door and a large blast of cold bitterness attacked my skin. I shivered from the coldness flowing from the freezer. I slowly walked across the frozen floor and slowly scanned the room for the correct meat. I spotted the box and slowly approached my target. I grabbed the box of hamburger meat and quickly left the room, but as I was leaving in a hurry I tripped over a box that had fallen off a shelf. I tried to catch myself, but the box of meat in my hands prevented me from doing so, and I slammed into the ground on my head, causing me to be knocked unconscious. As darkness filled my vision, I felt a painful pulling feeling - then it all stopped, and my conscious thought fell into the deep darkness.
Many Hours Later at an Unknown Location
I groaned and held my head as I began to stir after wiping my eyes to rid myself of my grogginess. "Trees?" I mumbled as I began to come to my senses. "How the Hell did I get out here, I was just in the freezer!" I remembered back to when I had tripped and rubbed the medium sized bruise on my forehead. I then started to rise to my knees as I checked my surroundings.
"Where am I?" I thought, and turned around and began scanning for life. "Is this a dream?" Just at that moment it started pouring. I covered my head and started to run in a straight line trying to find civilization.
As I ran for a solid three minutes i broke the treeline, I begun to take a few breaths from the sprint, i covered my eyes as the sunlight shone into them as my eyes readjusted I began gazing upon a big field with a long road leading to a town. "Maybe I should ask for directions or where the hell I can get home," I groaned as I broke into another sprint towards the town " Man i really hate running ¨ i told myself as i headed for the town for possible directions - and to hopefully figure out where the hell I was.
Five Minutes Later
As I ran towards the center of town I saw a large tree with a door at the base of it. "How does that tree have a door on it?" I asked myself. When the rain stopped from a hard pour to a light drizzle I sighed in relief. "Thank God, I really hate rain. It's so annoying, and wet!"¨
I walked up to the tree with the door on it and knocked on it waiting for a response. A few seconds later I heard a small child - or a adolescent at least - yell out from inside "Coming!" A second later the door cracked open slightly and a small green and purple lizard peeked his head through the door and asked "Hello?" It took a few seconds for my mind to register what i was seeing and I slowly opened my mouth to say something, but my eyes rolled up into my head and I fell as I fainted.
As I slowly regained consciousness, I began to blink my eyes to get the blurriness out of my eyes. "Do you think it's okay?" I heard the lizard kid from earlier.
"Wait, lizard kid!" I then sat up quickly and darted my head around the room scanning for the little "Lizard Kid". I then got to my feet and turned around to spot who I was looking for along with a small horse with wings and a horn. "Wait a second, a horn!?" I jumped back and searched frantically for a door or a source of escape.
"Are you okay?"
I turned to the voice which came from the horse. "You can talk?"
The little horse pony thing had a look of fear, worry and curiosity on her face. "Yes I can," she replied with some skepticism in her voice.
"This has to be a dream, this cant be real. I mean, a talking horse and a bipedal gecko?" I said to myself.
"Hey, I am not a gecko," replied the bastard child of Barney.
"And I'm a pony, not a horse," replied the dream of any little girl's childhood.
"Okay, okay, its going be okay; all l have to do is pinch myself and I'll wake up, right?" I asked as I pinched myself many times. "Breathe in breathe out, okay you're in a small house that's also a library that's inside a tree and is also inhabited by a lizard and a horse with an horn and wings. Let's just calm down Mike, nothing to be afraid of," I said as I tried to calm myself.
"Uh mister...could you please tell me your name and uh...stop calling me a horse. I'm a pony!" the pony said with a bit of hostility in her voice.
"Okay, okay let's start over miss, uh?" i asked hesitantly
"Sparkle, Twilight Sparkle, and this here is my personal assistant Spike the Dragon," she responded curtly.
"Okay Miss Sparkle, my name is Michael Gallows and it is has been a very nice time meeting you and Spike, but could you be as kind as to tell me where the fuck I am?"
"Well...this is the town of Ponyville."
"Ponyville?" I asked myself quizzically. "And what country or planet?"
"Um, Equestria and the planet is Equus," Twilight Sparkle replied.
"Why do you not know this? Do you have amnesia or something?" asked Spike.
"It seems to me that either I'm delusional, insane, in a coma, or I'm on a whole different world. So out of these four options, it's probably the first of the four," I replied about on edge of freaking out.
This answer caused Twilight to squee with delight, "Oh my Celestia! Spike, do you know what this means?"
"Uh no?" Spike questioned.
"It means we’ve made first contact with an alien race!, i knew i hadn't seen or read anything like you in any of my books!" she yelled out in excitement. “GASP¨, We need to contact Princess Celestia immediately, and we need to start testing him and we need to start new experiments!" she exclaimed.
" Uh...I'm still right here in front of you, and I'm not going to be anyone’s experiment, any time, place, or ever!" I responded, slightly scared for my life. ¨Is this actually a dream?, it feels all too real for this to be delusions or a dream¨ i thought to myself then it suddenly dawned on me that this is actually might be happening, i mentally fought myself about this. I shook my head continued. ”Okay, I'm going to leave and find a place to stay, its been fun talking and everything but If I'm going to be staying anywhere I have to have a place to hole up for the night at least."
"Oh, you don’t know anyplace to stay?" Twilight said her expression doing an entire 180 as she asked with concern in her voice.
"Well... considering that I just woke up in a forest two hours ago i’d say no, I do not have a place to stay. Is there some kind of hotel or inn ( considering where i am ) around here somewhere?" I asked.
"We have a spare bedroom upstairs if you want to use that."
"Really, you’d let me stay after we just met? " I replied with voice of gratitude.
"Well, I can't blame you for being homeless and I still think we can be great friends in the near future, and after all i am always up for making new friends! "
"Thank you very much, Twilight. How can I repay you, i can do anything but actually ¨Pay¨ you, because I don’t have your world's currency and i could do anything to repay... ”
"It's alright Michael," she cut me off. "You can repay me by telling me all about your world and its books." She squee’d when she mentioned books. She then turned around and headed up the stairs. "The spare room is up here on the first left." She then disappeared behind her door with Spike in tow.
I sighed as i thought about what my friends and family are going to do when they hear that i´ve gone missing, I thought as i began to head towards the spare room.
I opened the door and looked around the room. It wasn’t anything special, it looked just like a room you’d find on Earth: it was a medium sized room with a twin sized bed in the corner, and a closet and a night stand right next to the bed. I walked to the bed and sat down.
"Is this really happening? This is like reality is playing some kind of sick joke on me - it's like I'm in a living cartoon," I told myself. "Maybe I can figure what's going on and how i can get back home tomorrow," I said as I lay down. I closed my eyes to let the darkness crawl over my vision as sleep took over my body.
