Strings that Bind, Souls in Twine
Let's Talk... the Prologue.
“I can’t believe this! I’d think the half with magic of this situation, would be much more accepting of this then I am?!” I exclaimed to no one. However mom and Betty looked at me oddly. I was at the dinner table at the moment, having mom’s famous sheep’s head’s pie… No, there is no sheep’s head in the pie. My family knows about my dreams and that I am a bit dramatic. At first the pair thought I did it for the attention. However to be honest, I just like acting as such. I take nothing from it but the joy of self-indulging. But anyways.
“You ok kid?” Betty asked with one of those looks that screamed ‘Not again’ Mom just smiled.
I smiled at the two of them, and then started scarfing down my food. It took me like, ten seconds to finish. I guess I did almost choked in the process though. Kinda freaked out mom a little. But ok, I finished and excused myself “Apologies.” I said standing up. “Thank you madam.” I said looking at mom.
I then walked away from the table and just rounded the corner before I heard mom ask. “Where you off in such a rush?”
I popped my head from the hallway. “I think Imma gonna take a nap.” I said smiling then darted my way upstairs without letting mom or Betty say another word to me. Once upstairs I headed to the restroom, and looked in the mirror. “Ok. Listen.” I said staring at myself. “If you’re really under the assumption that all this is Just A Dream, Fine.” I said with such intensity it started hurting my face. I face palmed myself. Rubbed my eyes, and looked upon my face once more. “However, I don’t think I’m going to stop trying any time soon.” I took a breath then pointed at myself through the mirror. “You got it?” I said sternly.
I then proceeded to walk out the restroom, round the corner to my bedroom then flopped on my bed. Twirled to lie on my back. Then closed my eyes.
…
I open my eyes with the memories of my latest dream. “Going to keep trying?” I take a few seconds then sit up. “Terrific.” I said sighing. I then proceeded to stand and trot over to the mirror in my restroom. I took a moment to stare at myself then wash my face.
Once that was done I looked in the mirror again. “I got to talk to Luna about dumbing these dreams down a peg.”
I went down stairs, grabbed an apple and headed outside. It was currently night… Just a little after twelve it seemed.
“Ok I guess I’m getting ahead of myself right.I’d imagine you all got some idea what’s going on here. So my name is Amber Quartz… Mother expected a mare. But as to what’s going on here. On what’s happening to me right now. That’s a bit complicated. See. For my entire life I’ve been dreaming about this creature I call Human… Well the creatures in my dreams I call human. For my whole life I’ve been dreaming this Human’s whole entire life. At first I thought it was normal but after a few years of, well, Living I come to realize it wasn’t. So after a time I decided to keep these dreams a secret. I’m not weird. Or insane. I hope. I’m 19 now. So is my dream self, this Abraham Ross. This human? He’s nothing like me. My therapist told me that once dream self normal acts nothing like your true self and I trust that she’s right on that. However, Abe seems to have started to be self-aware.
For the last week he’s been trying to talk to me as if I’m some other pony entirely. As if he is truly thinking he isn’t a figment of my imagination. That cant be true. I know it can’t be true. Today I’m going to see if Dr. Poppy can see me. This is just too much right now.
Right… we should go back a little. A week right? Yeah. That sounds right.
…
“Well Doc. I can’t say when these dreams started really. I remember dreaming about this horse all my life.”
Here I am lying down on a couch, talking about my dreams to my Mom’s therapist because she’s to worried about me. What Mother isn’t I guess. The doctor sitting in her leather chair with pen and pad in hand. The room we were in was green but bland with a pair of paintings, a heart on one, a flower on the other, and a window that faced the street outside. For some reason she had a TV perched on her desk this time around. Not once have I saw anything electronic in this building.
“Then tell me this Abraham. You think all your dreams was influenced by something else?” Dr. Peppers asked me.
I turned my head to her. “Maybe. I guess… I don’t think so. Why?”
Dr. Peppers smiled as she put the pen and pad to her sides. “Well.” She started as she adjusted her glasses. “Your dreams are an interesting subject of mine to ponder about. You’re a vary active person. As in you don’t do much when it comes down to sitting down and read, or watch TV. I betcha you never heard of say, My Little Pony?”
“My Little what now?” I asked in response, sitting up in the process.
“You heard me.” Dr. Peppers said smiling.
“Yeah, but…” I said putting my feet on the ground. “It just sounds like something girls like.”
“That’s not wrong.” The Dr. replied crossing her arms.
“Then?” I asked simply.
“Let me show you something.” She said as she stood up, walked over to that TV and turned it on.
“What’s this be about Dr.?” I ask, curious.
She then grabbed a keyboard from out of her desk. “This is about your dreams.” She said sitting in front of the desk. “Give me a moment please.”
“Yup yup.” I said looking at the TV. The TV must’ve been connected to a computer somewhere and the keyboard was battery powered. She went to something called YouTube, typed in MLP FIM, pressed enter and a bunch of links popped up with vids galore. She clicked one of them and BOOM! My jaw drops. “How? How the Hell?” I said looking at a cartoon song about little horses. Started with a purple one flying a hot air balloon, landing then it just goes crazy from there. Not going to detail it, it was just to fast but from there on I was dumfounded. When the song ended I just blinked.
“More?” Dr. Peppers asked. Before I answered however she clicked on another. Shown something about who’s crazier. The pink one or the purple one. I just blinked again. She clicks another. This one was of the rainbow colored ones birthday. “I’m sure I heard Weird Al in that one.” The next was about a race, the next of a marriage, “Shatner?” More still... The point is. I was staring at that TV for 45 minutes straight. I started asking my own questions as I hopped up and started pacing around the room. However she then said “Times Up actually.” She said giggling to herself.
“WHaaaaa! OH MY GOD NOOOOooooo!” I said, half screaming. She knew I would react that way. Damn her…
But anyways. She got up and turned the TV off. “I take it that you’ll want to talk more next week?” she said walking over to her chair.
“Hell Yes!” I yelped. But then took a breath. “Yes please.” The pair of us just looked at each other for a moment before walking to the room’s door. “What made you show that to me Dr.?” I asked standing in front of the door.
“Your dream sounded familiar, so I looked to see if there was anything familiar. That was the result.” She said clapping her hands by the end of her sentence.
“Well Damn Doc…” I said opening the door and walking through. “You know how to leave folks hanging.” The pair of us chuckled as I closed the door behind me.
Later that night.
So mom seemed a little concern when she found me on our home computer looking up videos about this My Little Pony thing. I guess it’s only right. This really was my first time on it, ever. Well my school forced me to use a pc in a class now and then so I wasn’t ignorant on one but anyways. Turns out this MLP was around for years, but it seems that this Gen 4 of the show was what looked to be the closes to Amber’s world. At the moment there was seven seasons of this show so far. In fact the first episode aired last Friday. I thought that was a good start.
…
“ And for the last week, he’s been trying to get me to talk back to him. It’s rather disturbing to me really. I don’t think I can handle if it was true. That if Abraham wasn’t just my overactive imagination… …Well…”
…
… …
… … …
…… … …
“But to Tartarus with it. It’s like one o clock in the mourning thank you vary much.” Going back inside and up my stairs. Into my bed, I decided to throw the covers over my head and nod off.
…
“OH Hell NO!” I yelled, jumping out of my bed and storming right to my restroom’s mirror. “Don’t you dare go flash-backing on my side of things!” I said pointing angrily, growling a little by the end. A moment of me just staring at the mirror I took a breath and eased up. “Got it?” I asked Amber. I didn’t get a response of course. Didn’t think I would.
I went downstairs to see my mom on the computer, Betty reading a book, in a chair, in front of our fireplace. “Cliché” I thought. Walking to the front door, grabbed my shoes, quickly slipped them on.
“I thought you were napping?” I heard mom ask.
“Nope. Sorry mom.” I said opening the door.
“You’re mad?” Betty asked.
“Yup. Sorry Betty.” I replied about to close the door behind me. “Oh!..” I almost forgot. “Be back late tonight. Please save me some food yes?” I said closing the door.
“Ok yeah… so I’m mad right now.” I said walking down my street. “I’ll prove to you this isn’t all in your head.” I continued while waving my arms in the air. “You’re a stubborn mule aren’t yahh Amber?” I said letting my arms drop to my sides then putting them in my pockets. “You need to live just as much as I do, right?” I said, walking a bit slower then before. “Let’s see how your life will be after being in a coma for a few days.” I said turning a corner. In from of me was our local gas station.
I walked in, looked around. And heard, “Hay Ross.” the clerk said.
“Hay Mark.” I replied. The Clerk… Mark and mom are friends. He comes over here and there, friendly and blah. Fact, practically everyone in my small town knows who I am. One way or another. But anyways. I spot my target. Coffee grounds. Grabbed a can and started to walk out.
“So what experiment you trying now?” Mark asked. Gesturing me that I still need to pay.
I gave him a sheepish smile and walked up to him. “I’m gonna see just how long I can keep awake..” I said keeping my smile and giving some money to Mark. “Good night yeah.” I said walking outside.
“Bye man.” Mark replied.
Three days later.
“Abraham Ross!” Mom yelled at me as she gripped both my shoulders. “Please sleep.” She said, looking as if she was on the verge of tears. We were in the living room at the moment. I was watching TV with a cup of coffee in one hand and the remote in the other, sitting on our couch. When she stormed in and started yelling at me I could hardly hear her. She was right. I needed sleep. I knew it. I barely remembered why I was doing this. For two day’s I was active enough to do my usual stuff I do, but now… I did think I’d last longer then that. Oh well.
“Amber…” I said under my breath.
“What?” mom asked?
“You’re right.” I said smiling.
“Oh thank you.” Mom said pulling me in a hug. It only lasted a few seconds when it ended I dropped the remote and handed mom the coffee. She took a sip of it. She then coughed a little. “Whoa… Jesus Abe!” she said wiping the spittle that formed. “That’s strong shit.” I smiled at her drunkenly. She then looked disappointed. “Nope.” She said grabbing my shirt. “Come on.” She started pulling me up the stairs, opened my bedroom door and more or less throws me on my bed. “Sleep.” Mom said before shutting my door.
My window was already covered, my light was off, and it seemed like nighttime. “Ok, yeah, mom was in my room.” I said giggling at the end. I turned over and stared at the ceiling “Ok Amber, I was hoping for a week.” I said rubbing my eyes. “I’m still interested in seeing what happens in three days for you.” I said smiling. It took an hour before the caffeine in my body to run out though, but I did fall asleep.
…
I tried to open my eyes but it seemed hard to do so. I gave myself a few seconds and tried a few more times. When my eyes finally did open I was greeted with my parents sleeping soundly in a pair of chairs over at the corner of my room… “Wait?” I looked around a little. “So, not my room.” Turns out I was in a hospital room. My folks over at the corner, three walls and a window with a door for the forth surrounded me. I was lying in a bed not my own. “Mom, Dad?” I asked. The two slowly awoke and saw me staring at them. “What am I Duu…”
But before I could finish my question the two pounced on me, giving me a tight hug. “Oh Amber, thank Celestia!” My mom said.
“What’s going…”
“You had us so worried.” My Dad interrupted me.
“Ok…?” I asked. My folks ended their embrace took a few steps back and stared at me. “What?”
“Do you know where you are Amber?” mom asked.
“The hospital yes?” I answered looking around a little more. “What I don’t know is why I’m here?”
The pair exchanged looks. It was making me concern when they slowly looked back in my direction. “You’ve been asleep for three days Amber.” Mom said.
Slowly widening my eyes, my jaw slowly dropping. “What!” I said Shocked.
“Three days.” Dad answered.
Suddenly the door to the room opened. The three of us gawked over to it. A unicorn nurse walked in the room floating in a tray with Jell-O in a cup. When she saw us staring at her, “Oh, I’m sorry. We saw you awake so I thought you’ll be hungry.” She said smiling.
I sighed. “No thanks…” I said trying not to sound ungrateful. “But, I think I got to use the facilities.”
“Oh no worries.” The nurse said as she floated the tray to that little table at the end of the beds. I don’t know what it’s called. My folks just looked onwards towards me as the nurse helped me up and that’s when I noticed the i.v stuck in my arm.
“Was it really that bad?” I ask as a glow surrounded it and the nurse pulled it out gently.
“Fraid so darling.” She replied as she continued to help me across the room. Through the door and down the hall.
Once inside the restroom I locked the door behind me, turned to the mirror inside, and looked at myself. A moment past and I splashed my face with water a few times. “Alright then Abraham. You made your point.”

Why ello everybody. Now before we get to confused, I hope you'd at least read to the end. Chapter 1 On, won't be as random as this one. I have ideas for this story that won't actually work till I learn a few things to make it happen. that includes editing this up a little. =P. however the lack of detailing, kinda was on purpose. Again, having ideas. =P But anywho...
With that, I guess I'm good for now.
