Human Roots In Equestria?

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

I turn around seeing Inkwell, the first friend I made since arriving in Equestria.

“Yeah, that’s me.” I say.

“So this is how a human looks. Very interesting.” Inkwell says. Before walking around me, examining me.

“How do you know about humans?” I ask.

“You told me about them, we had that conversation, remember?” Inkwell asks.

Actually, I don’t.

“Oh yeah! I remember.

So I assume you’re doing good, Inkwell?” I say.

“Oh yeah, never better. Got a new story in the works.” Inkwell says.

“I hope it’s not another cliffhanger.” I say jokingly. “I’m joking. That's great. I know you’ll outdo yourself this time.”

“What about you?

How have you been?” Inkwell asks.

“Yeah, I was just getting a check-up.

Me and Twilight broke up.

And, I went on a trip with my friends, we went up north to see the mountains.

It was a great week, and I met somepony.

Her name is Derpy Hooves, she’s a mailmare. She works at the post office just up the way.

Whew, that was a mouthful.” I say.

“That’s too bad. You guys were great together.” Inkwell says.

“Yeah it was great to be lied to, and to be used.” Nexus says.

“Well, it is what it is, I guess.” I say.

“So. Mountains, huh? I’ve always wanted to go camping. Never had the chance.” Inkwell says.

“It’s was great, you know? It was just the four of us, Me, Moon, Potato, and Uyada. We had to come back a couple days early, because most of our supplies went missing.” I say.

“What did you say her name was? Derly? Derpy! And you said she works at the Ponyville Post Office?” Inkwell asks.

“Yeah, she’s a delivery mare there. We went on two dates so far. I think she’s a keeper, but I don’t know, it’s a little too early to tell.” I say.

“Well, it was nice seeing you.” Inkwell says.

“Wait! What are you doing in Ponyville? I thought you were happy in Vanhoover.” I ask.

“I came out here for inspiration. Being stuck in my little apartment kind of dampened my creativity.

It’s nice to get out sometimes, right?” Inkwell says.

“How long are you staying?” I ask.

“Just for a couple of months.” Inkwell says.

“Cool. I’ll see you later, then.” I say.

“Have a good one.” Inkwell says.

Inkwell walks away.

“Lying to your friend? That’s not cool, Arthur.” Nexus says.

“He can’t know, no one has to.” I say.

I walk to Twilight’s castle.

When I reach the front doors, I feel a sharp sting inside my chest. I grab my chest, wincing while doing so.

The pain stops.

“Fuck! What the hell was that!?” I ask.

“Are you okay?” An unknown pony asks me.

“I’m fine.” I grunt. “Never better.” I say.

I look at the source of the voice.

A female unicorn, she has an aquamarine coat, with a cyan mane, that has a white streak in it. She has a lyre for a cutie mark.

“Are you a hooman?” The unicorn asks.

“A what?” I ask.

“A hooman. Wait, I have a picture.” She starts digging in her saddlebag. ”Hold on. I know it’s here somewhere.” The unicorn says.

A couple seconds later, she stops digging, she pulls out a book. She levitates the book in the air and looks through it.

“See? A hooman.” She turns the book to me, and points to it. It shows a picture of a person sitting on a rock.

“Oh! A human. Yeah, i’m a human.” I say.

The unicorn gasps, then excitedly asks. “Can I get a picture with you?”.

I chuckle then say “Sure. You got a name?”.

The unicorn says “Oh! I forgot. My name is-”

“Lyra! Come on! We’re going to miss the movie!” A pony standing in front of the movie theater yells.

“That’s my best friend, we are going to watch a movie.” Lyra says.

“Maybe another time? My name is Arthur Paige, by the way.” I say.

“Yeah. It was nice meeting you, Arthur!” Lyra says, while running to her friend.

“Likewise, Lyra!” I say. “Wait! You forgot your-” The two friends walk into the theater. ”Never mind.” I say.

I pick the book off of the ground and dust it off. The title says “The History of the Human Tribe”.

“How did humans end up in Equestria?” I ask.

I open the book to the first page.

Chapter 1-The Arrival of the Humans

They came in a pack, seemingly out of nowhere.

They walked on their back legs, they only had hair on top of their heads and faces, one even had hair under, and around his muzzle.

They had appendages coming out of the ends of their upper and lower legs.

They used their upper legs to grab objects.

“This is huge.” I say.
