A child no more

Several years have passed. Much has changed since Godzilla’s birth. In fact, he was no longer the tiny infant who loved sleeping on the sofa, cuddling with the hens, and rough-housing with the bear cub that occasionally visted their home with his mother. He has grown tremendously in size and maturity. While Godzilla had a ways to go before he can grow into a colossal mountain-sized titan, he was now roughly the same size as a adult dragon. At this point, his dorsal spines had significantly grown, though they still weren’t fully developed. Godzilla was laying on a hill near Fluttershy’s cottage, basking in the morning sun. For the mighty alpha predator of Equestria, Godzilla can be incredibly lazy, especially in the morning. He opened his eyes upon hearing the familiar creak of the cottage’s wooden door, craning his head to watch Fluttershy walk out. Fluttershy approached Godzilla with a smile on her face.

“Good morning, sweetheart. Did you sleep well?” Fluttershy asked. Godzilla responded with a snort and several low-pitched grunts.

“Oh, really? Well, you seem to be enjoying this spot a little too much.” Fluttershy said with a chuckle, giving her adoptive “son” a hug (or what would count as a hug since she can’t embrace him anymore due to his huge size).

“I’m going off to the Everfree forest to find some berries for Angel. You’re in charge until I get back. I love you!” Fluttershy said as she spread her wings and flew off with a basket in tow. Godzilla snorted, lulling himself back to sleep.

Onyx Star sat in a chair, drinking a hot cup of coffee while reading a newspaper. Before long he came across a article that read “Giant lizard spotted near Ponyville”. He spat out his coffee, reading the article a second time to confirm it’s validity.

“Dear Faust! We got more monsters running about?! And this one’s smack-dab in a unprotected town!” Onix exclaimed, getting up. He ran towards a huge pair of doors, kicking them open and running into the lab.

“Boys! We got a mighty big situation down in Ponyville! I just got word a giant reptile made landfall near that poor town. Are the missiles ready?” Onix asked.

“We’re almost ready, sir. But we need more time.” One engineer replied.

“Keep workin’ hard! We gotta get these weapons ready before any monster can start rampaging!” Onix said. He walked out of the room, storming towards his quarters. Lying on a large wooden desk was a huge cluster of papers waiting to be looked upon. He threw them all aside, picking up a dusty, wrinkled up paper that looked like it was manufanctured in the 1930s. A grainy picture loosely depicting a giant reptillian creature was scribbled onto the paper. It was faded and most of the details weren’t elegible, but Onix knew what the portrait was depicting.

“In all my years as a sergeant, I always dreamed of taking down monsters as big as this. Imagine when I bring the head of a Gojirasaur to Canterlot. I’ll be famous! Everyone will finally deem me a important and beloved hero! And Princess Celestia.... she’ll promote me for sure. My dream of building nuclear weapons will become a reality once I successfully test these weapons out.” Onix said, laughing to himself.

Godzilla yawned sluggishly as he opened his eyes again, lifting his head to smell the fresh air. Fluttershy had been gone for an hour, and that brought concern to Godzilla. He began to think of terrible situations Fluttershy could be stuck in and let out a high-pitched whine, worry and helplessness draping over him like a patch of thorns.

Was she okay?

Godzilla immediately chased away the unpleasant thoughts. Fluttershy was fine. The huge reptile stood up from his prone position, opening his jaws wide to let out a big yawn. Maybe a nice stroll around town would clear his mind of the bad thoughts. After all, Fluttershy always felt more energetic after taking walks in the forest.
