The blue angel

I took in a deep breath letting the cool spring air fill my nose and gently caress my hair that openly blew against the wind. Opening my eyes I could see the dark grey cloudy sky and the dark blue of the ocean in the distance. Below me were countless buildings of different shape and size. I could even still hear the endless rumbling of cars that ran down the roads.

Smiling to myself, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen today. Would there be videos of me running around the internet? Would there be countless people trying to prove that the videos were fake? But I didn't care, I was going to do something I love. And that something was flying.

I took off my long jacket, letting the heavy fabric fall to the concrete floor of the roof. Grinning I slowly extended my large feathery wings to their full size. The light blue cyan feathers gently blew against the wind, some even falling loose and were gently carried away by the wind. Looking down I saw the small pricks of people and cars moving around, like a person looking down at an ant pile.

I placed one foot over the edge and watched as my red shoe slightly dangled in the open air. Then, I fell. As I fell towards the street below, I could only grin as my heart hammered in my chest from the thrill of free fall. The wind that whipped my hair back and caused tears to form in my eyes.

As I got closer and closer to the ground, I couldn't help a laugh to escape my mouth as I unfurled my wings and shot forwards like a bullet. Laughing like an idiot I soared up above the city and entered the large expanse of grey clouds.

For a few moments all I could see was grey and feel the cold wet water that formed the cloud layer.

Then I entered the large blue atmosphere of the sky. For a moment I just hovered there, letting my large wings flap rhythmically as I simply just looked around at the large expansion of blue and white.

Wish I could find a plane, I thought to myself, thinking fondly of the last time a plane flew over the city. I could still remember the look on that kids face when he saw a girl with blue wings flying next to his window. Chuckling to myself I flew back down past the cloud layer and entered back into the city. Grinning to myself I began to weave my way around tall buildings imagining them as an opstical corse.

I had always loved flying, despite both my friends and parents concerns of me getting caught and taken away. I could only roll my eyes at the thought and continued to fly over the city landscape. Looking down, I could already see people pointing up at me and having their phones out. I gave a chuckle at the sight.

Yep, I was definaly going to be on the news. I grinned and did a few loops and twists for their entertainment. The people began calling out and I could clearly see a few news vans and police cars coming up. That was when I knew it was time to leave.

Turning away I quickly shot up into the clouds, making it look like I had simply vanished.

I couldn't help it, I bursted into a laughing fit at the soon big uproar of the mysterious blue angel. Yeah, I was definally going to be on the news. I sighed in contempt, it was nice giving people an air of that mystery that I once did when I first came here.

As I began to fly home my thoughts began to go back to that day.

I was around three or four years old at the time. I remember that it was raining, and I could see a lot of lightning around me, the booming thunder that threatened to defen me. I remember being wet, and very very cold. I couldn't remember what happend after that, but I did wake up in a hospital with no idea of who I was or where I was. But I do remember the look on the doctors faces when they saw my wings.

Sighing to myself, I couldn't help but remember my dad being the first person to walk up to me. Granted i was hiding under a table scared to death from the panic. Soon I was adopted by him and his wife.

Now here I was, hiding under the ruse of being a normal teenager, with a nice small group of friends.

I began to get lower to the ground as I slowly reached my house. The grass zipped past me in a blur. I landed on the grass a few feet away from the house. Tucking my wings against my back I walked into my small home.

Closing the door behind me, I couldn't help but smile at the aroma of my mothers cooking.

"Raina? Is that you?" My mom called from the kitchen.

"Yeah Mom, its me."

"Your father wants to have a talk with you." I gulped, already knowing what my old man wanted. Sighing I walked into the living room where I saw my dad standing beside the TV with an annoyed look on his face. I made a quick look at the TV, and sure enough it was on the news that showed a video of me flying over the tall skyscrapers.

"Hey Dad", I said with a nervous chuckle in my voice. He simply stared at me, then I caught sight of a smirk on his face. I couldn't help it, I smiled with him.

"So, think you really turned heads?" I snorted in response.

"Please, I was out there for at least an hour. I'm sure I turned a lot of heads", I said taking a seat on the couch. Then I remembered something. "Oh, crap." I groaned and rubbed the bridge of my nose.

"Forgot your jacket again?" I could only nod. Sighing I got back up on my feet and began to make my way out the front door.

"I'll be right back", I sighed. Sometimes I really hate being in the moment. It makes me forget the simplest of things.
