Twilight was in her library inside her castle as she was reading to pass the time while Spike and Starlight went to town by themselves. As Twilight was reading she felt as if it was a bit to quiet. She had wondered why as Ponyville was never that quiet. It was a bit strange.
Spike and Starlight soon came back from town as they had got a lot done. However they felt as if the day felt a bit to quiet and calm. It was unnerving to say the least as much as they like the calm feeling it was very strange.
"Hey Twilight does the day feel a bit....off to you or is it just me?" Spike asked. Twilight had no idea that Spike was feeling the same way so she was glad as she thought the same thing so she responded.
"This day does feel very quiet to me." Twilight admitted to Spike. Spike now knew that he wasn't the only one who felt weirded out that day. Spike looked out at Ponyville through the window.
Then as they were all upstairs the emergency alarm signal started going off. Twilight became alert as the signal was only used when an invasion was happening or when a monster was attack Equestria. Twilight looked at Spike looking through the window and she listened to the alarm as she figured out what was going on.
She didn't see any monster attacking Ponyville and she didn't see any armies invading so she thought about the next possible reason why the alarm was going off. Then she had a moment of realization. Her thoughtful expression turned to a look of horror. She turned to her friends.
"Guys get to cover immediately! Get to the lowest spot! Now!" Twilight yelled. Starlight and Spike both looked at her with alarmed expressions as they wondered why they needed to do that.
"Why?" Starlight asked.
"Just do it!" Twilight yelled. They both did what Twilight said as they went downstairs and Twilight followed them downstairs as well, when they got downstairs Twilight dragged a table to the wall and hid them under it and took cover near them.
"Twilight what's happening!? What's going on I'm so confused right now!" Spike yelled. Twilight wondered if she should tell him or wait till it was over. Spike covered his ears as the alarm went on and on.
And then after the alarm went off for a few more seconds a bright flash of light burst throughout Equestria. Twilight yelled at her friends to cover their eyes. Twilight closed her eyes and her friends also closed their eyes as well.
All of the windows in Twilight's castle broke as furniture burned away and stuff flew off the shelves. Twilight and her friends waited for it to end. It was so terrifying. They hoped that it was over soon.
After a few more seconds of the flash, the light dulled to the point that they can open their eyes as the light went away. Twilight, Starlight and Spike got up and examined the damaged castle.
"Guys don't drink the milk or eat the food as its contaminated. Don't drink any water and stay at this bottom level. Do not go outside for any reason. What happened was an explosion but it wasn't the usual explosion that happened at an accident or something. It's much more that that just don't touch eat any of the food until I check it and stay downstairs. Don't leave here no matter what. Do not question it I know what I'm doing. Do you understand?" Twilight asked.
"Alright Twilight we will stay down here. Just please tell us what's going on? What was that flash of light and why did it destroy all the windows? Are our friends safe?" Spike asked. Twilight sighed as she looked up at the stairs and decided to tell our friends.
"Alright look I'm not to smart with the type of weapons Equestria or other countries possess these days but what I do know is that their are these new types of weapons that can turn cities to ash, they can just literally wipe everything out. That weapon that just struck causes radiation which will linger for two weeks. I don't know of our friends our safe but what I do know is that we should play it safe and stay down here for at least till the forty eight hours are over. Do not go outside under any circumstance. Stay down here. Do you guys understand?" Twilight asked.
"We do. We won't go anywhere I just hope our friends are safe Twilight. That's all I want to know right now. That was very terrifying. I hope the princess is safe." Starlight said. Twilight nodded.
"I can tell you right now that she is. She's considered a priority to protect and they probably have her hidden in a bunker somewhere. Trust me she survived along with Luna. People who are top level officials are protected at all costs. We will be seeing them again." Twilight said.
"But your a top level official as well. They should have come and get you as your the same as them. That doesn't seem fair to you." Spike pointed out Twilight shrugged.
"They weren't near me so they aren't going to bother now besides I'm fine without them. We can make it through this. It's only a few hours anyway." Twilight said. Spike and Starlight decided to just be patient and wait for the radiation to go away.
It was a long wait as they ate what was safe. They were down their for hours. They brought out sleeping bags and slept by eachother for the days they were down there. It was boring but at least it was better than risking themselves to get books or anything.
Twilight hoped that her other friends were safe, she would be so devastated if her other friends were caught in the blast. She couldn't believe weapons like what hit them exist in Equestria even if she couldn't think of the name as she only researched the essential survival skills if one was used.
Twilight and her friends passed the time by telling stories and playing memorization games. They got their hands on magazines that were nearby and were not contaminated by the weapon that was used.
It was so quiet outside. Twilight wondered if other towns were safe from the bomb. Twilight waited patiently as she talked to Spike and Starlight. Time seemed to pass slowly as it was agonizing.
Soon the radiation seemed to go away. There were still bit of radiation in Ponyville and nearby towns but other than it seemed to grow weak which was good. Twilight was getting impaitent as she wanted to see her friends.
The days were long but the nights were even longer, they were still frightened by what happened but they did manage to get some sleep most nights they were downstairs.
Soon they started to notice that the wait was almost over and they were glad at the wait wasn't to long but it was still a boring wait. They hoped that everybody got to safety in time. They didn't want to face the prospect of having one of their friends dead.
They were very lucky to be alive as a lot of people were probably dead. They had calmed down over the few days but they were still a bit shaken from the event.
They wondered about what would happen to society after the bombing. They realized that Celestia would probably seek revenge on the nation or group that had attacked Equestria.
Soon the two weeks were over so they waited until official confirmation that the outside was safe. Celestia released a statement that the outside was now safe to citizens so people left their shelters. Twilight immediately went to check on her friends and she was relieved to find them all safe and sound.
They all reunited and talked about what happened and talked about how glad they were about the fact that each of them were still alive. Celestia ordered all of the contaminated food be thrown away and ordered new non contaminated food to be delivered to people in the surrounding area. Twilight and all of the citizens threw away the food that could harm them.
The people received the new food from nearby nations that were friendly to Celestia and they stocked them in their stores and all of the people in Ponyville and nearby cities and towns bought new food. Twilight and her her friends bought new food as well.
Celestia and Equestria officials investigated the blast as an attack and found out that a rogue group of people had launched the attack as all of the nations Celestoa new stated that they would never attack her. Celestia ordered for the arrests of several individuals of the group and was able to arrest all of them.
The people of Equestria got over the attack and went to live their daily lives again. Some were still terrified but they were helped by therapy to overcome their fear that was caused by the attack.
Equestria was very lucky that life went on its daily routine even after what happened as Celestia's citizens managed to cope with help from others. Celestia was so relieved that her citizens were managing to cope. Twilight and her friends went on trips to held other affected citizens as they brought them food and shelter as it was the right thing to do. Celestia also helped by sending in people to help rebuild their home and give affected people extra food to eat as well.
Even if Equestria had been attacked life went on as nobody would crush their spirits no matter how may times they would be attacked. They got through the tough times together. Soon over a few years the stores got non contaminated food stocked once again and all of their homes had been rebuilt as they had stuck together and it had worked. Twilight's castle was rebuilt and life went on.
