The Beginning of the End (Prologue)
This is my very first fan fiction. I understand that Spawnfics aren't the most popular genre, but the idea is good. I plan on spreading the chapters out to about 1000ish words. So please, comment, rate, and watch for further chapters! Without further ado…
Sons of Discord
It was dark. Twilight flipped the pages of her book, while curled up in bed. Something had been bothering her.
It just doesn't feel right. We defeated discord, but ever since, I still get the feeling that he's still watching me, playing me… She would try to fight off the feeling, and continue reading.
The doorbell rang.
"Spike, can you get that for me?" She would look down to the half-asleep dragon, only to be answered with louder snoring. "All right, fine. Not like it's your job or anything."
She swung the door open
"Hi, Miss Twilight." The young colt would answer
Eris was a small, young, polite colt, with a slick brown coat, and a messy blue and white mane.
"Ah, uhh Eris, was it? How can I help?"
"Well, it's just Miss Cheerliee assigned a big paper tomorrow, and I need a good topic to write about." He would plea, with a slight shrug.
"Hmm… Of corse Eris, come on in, I have just the book for you" Twilight trotted over to the bookshelf.
"Let's see... Ahah! Here you go." She flew a book over to Eris.
Eris inspected the book. It was titled "The Hero's of Harmony" He flipped through it a bit.
"I wrote it myself. It's a documentary on the adventure me and my friends had to defeat Discord." She had a proud grin upon her, the lost grin of Twilight's pride.
"Uhh, thanks." He slipped the book into his pack.
"Who knows, it might even help you get you're cutie mark!" Twilight said, with a thoughtless attempt to cheer him up.
Eris is now the oldest pony in Ponyville who doesn't have a cutie mark, a couple years older than the Cutie Mark Crusader fillies who are always trying to get him to join their "Club". From all of this, Eris has been feeling down of late.
"Yeah, whatever..." He would respond, saddened to be reminded of his "Blank flank"
Later that night...
Eris finished the last chapter of the book. It was about midnight now, and it was time to finish his report.
I wonder why discord did all of that? Was he upset about something, the way I'm upset about being a blank flank? And why did the Princess's banish him? Couldn't they have just talked it out with him?
He shook off his thoughts and continued with the report. Twilight Sparkle sure is a good writer, but she sure does have a boring way of doing it, though.
He dotted the last 'i' and shoved the report in his pack, with a sigh of relief.
The next day
"Have a good day, and remember to study for your math quiz!" Cheerlie shouted out to the fleeing students as the bell rang.
Eris collected his things, and headed out the door. Just outside, he noticed Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon handing out invitations. He headed over to collect an invitation.
"One for you, one for you, and one for-Oh, it's you" Silver Spoon looked at him with a disgusted grin. "As much as i'd LOVE to invite you, this is a cutie-mark-coming party for Roseheart. No blank flanks aloud." She continued, in her sarcastic and stuck up voice.
The two fillies walked away with their clique, laughing.
Eris has never really been the most popular pony, not at all, really, but no pony has ever denied him anything like this because of it.
But, I-oh, that is IT. Eris thought, as he charged home, grabbed twilight's book, and headed off to get the items for his... scheme.
Chapter One
A Turn for Chaos.
Eris examined his handiwork. He was impressed at his capabilities. Who knew that he was such a natural at plotting? Everything was as planned, even a bit better. All of the required "tools" were here, (Pinkie really came through for him this time) and now it was nearly time to take action.
"Alright, let's go through the plan one more time" He checked his watch. "Ah! No time!"
Silver Spoon's party for Roseheart was starting. Eris raced for the door.
At the party:
"Wow Silver Spoon, this party's really great!" Roseheart thanked her with a hoofshake, naturally Silver Spoon shied away.
"Yes.. Well, of course it is. After all, I did plan it." Silver Spoon bragged, enjoying the moment.
It's true, the party was great. The filly hadn't had such a great party like this for a while. The games were a hit, the food was good, and everypony and her mother had someone to talk to.
And it's all because I didn't invite those annoying cutie mark crusaders.. Or that other one, Eris I think it was? Best party I've had in-
Silver Spoon almost forgot who's party it was. Not that it really mattered.
"Of course this is you're party after all. I did it all for you." (Lie)
"Aw, thanks Silver, you're such a great friend!" Roseheart continued sucking up to Silver Spoon. This, too, was a lie.
"Well true friends get each other drinks!" Silver Spoon began losing control of herself, and just gave up. It was too hard for her to resist playing these fillies in the horseshoe of her hoof.
"Anything for you!" (Lie)
As Roseheart raced off, suddenly the front door slammed open. The music, and party stopped.
Then, rolling into the middle of the party, was a catering cart, with a cake on it. Written on the cake were the words "For the best filly of all Ponyville."
"What a nice.. but weird.. gift!" Silver spoon broke the silence. "After all, I'm the best filly, and my favorite icing is cherry. THANK YOU!" She said, with her the slightest hint of modesty.
"Hah! No offense Silver Spoon, but we all know that.. well, I am the most popular filly in ALL of EQUESTRIA!" Diamond Tiara mocked. Silver Spoon motioned to speak up, but was interrupted.
"Now, hold on, it's obviously for me, I mean, it IS my cutie mark party!" Roseheart spoke up.
Soon, everypony was adding in to the conversation, contesting that, clearly, THEY were the best pony. It wasn't long before the party broke out into a big fight. Silver Spoon grabbed Roseheart's hair, Diamond Tiara threw a muffin at Twist, and it wasn't long before the entire party went into chaos...
And, watching from outside, was Eris.
Laughing.
Rolling on the ground, enjoying his success.
"AHAHAHA! That was GREAT! They were all 'HEY! IT'S FOR ME' And 'NO ME!'" Eris laughed to himself.
"Oh man... I have to do that again!"

The following week was a long, busy, enjoyable week for Eris. So far he had scared Opalescence into a tree, caused the sheep folk to go on a stamped, dressed up as a monster and scared the townsfolk, and replaced Golden Harvest's seeds with those of Poison Joke. In another of Eris's pranks, he whited out all of the words from twilight's book "The Heroes of Harmony". This particular prank, at the time, did not seem like it would have any long term uses. Then, one day, this book became the start of Eris's best prank yet.
He started writing. And writing, and writing. Then, after months of writing, he finished. And so begins his greatest prank.

Twilight opens the door.
"Eris? What is it? I thought I made it very clear that you are not allowed to "borrow" any more books from my library." Twilight asked, slightly confused by his re-appearance.
"Oh, you did Miss. Twilight. And that's why I came! After I pranked you I felt soooo bad. So I took the liberty of re-writing the entire book!" Eris said, with fake enthusiasm.
"You- What? Amazing! Can I see it?" Twilight was surprised. Eris never seemed like the type of pony who would apologize, let alone this.
"No, see, I was also really sad that none of you're friends got to see the book, before I took it, either. So I'm going to send them a copy of the book, so that they personally can give you there own opinion of the book." Eris began enjoying Twilight's easy preying.
"Wow Eris. This is really thoughtful of you.. Alright. Sure, go ahead and send them the copies!"
"Of course Miss Twilight, right away." Eris trotted off.

He visited Applejack first.
"A book? She wrote a book? Hehe, well that sounds just like Twi. Thank ya' kindly, young'in" Applejack took the book.
Next he visited Fluttershy.
"Oh, how neat! I knew that Twilight always wanted to write a book. I'll start reading it right away!"
Then Rarity
"I would.. But I'm very busy." Well, then again, I DO owe Twilight for blowing off her birthday. "Oh, alright."
Then Rainbow Dash
"Here let me just sign this for you.. What should I make it out to? How about to my biggest fan-" Eris stopped her.
"No no. It's a book that Twilight wrote. I was delivering them to all of her friends, so they can read and review it!" Eris explained.
"Oh.... Right.... A book... I'll read it when I get around to it.." She too the book, hesitantly, and raced off.
Lastly Pinkie Pie
"A book? I read a book once! It was really cool! Taught me all sorts of things! It was called 'Cookbook'. Cool title right?"
"Sure..."
With that, all of the books had been handed out.. Now, it was time to sit back, and watch the chaos.
At Twilights:
Twilight was reading a book in bed, with a cup of coco, running on the same schedule. I wonder what my friends will think of the book... Her thoughts were broken when her door was slammed open, and all of her friends came pouring in.
"Geeze, that book must have been better than I thought, if you're all so eager to tell me.." Twilight said, as all of her friends raced in at once. But, the expression on her friends faces were not friendly.
"WE HATED IT!" Everypony yelled at once.
"Wha-" Twilight stuttered.
"You call This an Adventure? If only I had a word in my dictionary to explain how.. UNCOUTH this book is!" Applejack yelled.
"I Concur with Applejack! No friend of mine would write anything like this!" Rarity screamed
"Meany." Fluttershy said, with mild anger.
"You know Twilight, if you don't like me, you could have just said so!" Pinkie turned around, batted Twilight's face with her tail and walked away.
Everypony else looked to Rainbow Dash for her outburst.
"What? I didn't read it. I was too.. Er..Busy." Rainbow looked around. Rarity flew the opened book over to Rainbow, and she read a few lines.
"Not. Cool." Rainbow said, her expression changed quickly.
"WELL... FINE! WHO NEEDS FRIENDS LIKE YOU GUYS ANYWAYS?" Twilight ran to her room.
The kindness fell from Fluttershy.
The sharing left Rarity.
The loyalty fled from Rainbow.
The truth fleeted from Applejack.
The laughter was silenced from Pinkie.
The magic was gone from Twilight.
And somewhere, deep in the Canterlot vaults, chaos returned.
(I wrote these chapters all in the course of two day. I have no/very little life. Enjoy.)
Chapter Two
The Wake of Chaos
The kindness has fell from Fluttershy.
The sharing has left Rarity.
The loyalty has fled from Rainbow.
The truth has fleeted from Applejack.
The laughter has been silenced from Pinkie.
The magic has gone from Twilight.
And somewhere, Deep in the Canterlot vaults, The chaos has returned.
"Muhahaha."
To Princess Celestia flys another of Twilight's letters.
Lately, she noticed, Twilight has been less and less enthusiastic about writing her letters. Apparently, a young colt has been stirring up trouble all around Ponyville.
I worry about that filly. I fear she's losing her enjoyment in this subject Celestia thought to herself.
"Mmhmhm. I'm afraid of that too, Celestia. Oh wait! I'm not!" A familiar voice suddenly thunders through the halls of Celestia's study.
"What? Who's there?!" Celestia demanded in the royal Canterlot voice.
"Oh, come now, Celestia, it's only been a few months..." The voice replied.
"No! It can't be...Discord!" She replied, and the lengthy figure of Discord appeared before her.
"Why so surprised, Celestia? I've always been one to... never die.." He responded with a chuckle.
"I don't know what you're planning, Discord, but the Elements of Harmony will just defeat you again!" Celestia shouted at discord.
Discord chuckled "I wouldn't count on the Elements anymore, Celestia. It seems that it's owners, won't be using them anymore.." Discord gave her a devilish grin, and disappeared.
A small platoon of royal guards rush in.
"My lady, we heard shouting! What's wrong?" The Captain answers.
"Barricade the city! Get all of the fillies and young ones safe! And.. Send someone to fetch our heroes!" Celestia ordered.
She trotted out into the balcony. A pink storm head was coming in the direction of the city. The city itself seemed to be falling apart in a mass of chaos.
"Discord..."
Ponyville:
Eris was extremely confused.
First, everypony who he pranked seemed to turn grey, and hate each other
Then Ponyville started to rip itself apart.
And now the streets have turned to salt.
"What is going on?!" Eris yelled to himself.
As if an answer to his plea, a shadowy figure appeared before him...
"You.. You're Discord!" Eris asked the figure.
"Ah, it seems my fame proceeds me. How delightful." Discord said, while flying around Eris, almost as if inspecting him.
"What.. What do you want with me?"
"Well, I just wished to congratulate you on a job well done, son. I really must give you credit, not even I could get that Fluttershy one."
"Congratulate? But I didn't- Wait.. Son?.. What-Who-How-Why?" Eris stumbles over a loss of words.
"Surprised, are you? Come, let me explain." Discord extended a mismatched paw to Eris.
What choice do I have? "Alright.." Eris took his hand. At the very moment Eris took Discord's hand, he began to change. There was a bright light, then..
Eris inspected himself. "What?.. I'm a.."
"There you go, son. Ah, would you look at that. You have my antler!" Discord, still holding his hand, spoke.
"I.. I look like you!"
"Of course. After all.. You ARE a Draconequus. Ah, were here." Discord looked around
"I..but..wait, here? Where is h-"
Eris was in a massive, disorganized, labyrinth.
"Welcome home, son."
The next few hours were long ones as Discord explained everything. It went something like this:
A long time ago, Discord ruled Equestria. He held a tight grip around the world, and some called him a harsh ruler. Back in this time, the Draconequus's numbers went into the thousands. Life was orderly and civilized. Then, the foolish Princesses came and fought the Draconequus's, and BANISHED Discord, their ruler. Though the ponies would LIKE to think so, the Draconequus were NOT all destroyed in that day. Many actually went into hiding... as ponies. But, these beings all but forgot their true nature over the course of millions of years. But, their true nature still possess power. In fact, there are five families of Draconequus living in Ponyville. This is handy for Discord, because the ONLY thing that can bring back the leader of the Draconequus is another Draconequus showing tribute to discord. Three families of the five were lucky enough to meet, right in front of Discord, and make tribute to him. As for Eris, he was the strongest of all five. His tribute was SO strong that it completely destroyed the Element's effect. Discord rules again. Because of his pure blood, Discord adopted Eris as his Son.
"So... Let me get this straight.. You want me to help you rule chaos?" Eris asked his new father.
"Correct. We shall rule Equestria with a reign of Chaos! And, someday it will be you're duty alone to rule it." Discord continued "Doesn't this make you want to laugh manically? I know it does to me! Muhahahahaha!"
"Yeah... hahah, I Guess." Eris responded, with little enthusiasm.
"What's wrong?"
"It's just that, why do you have to be so mean with your rule? I mean, can't you rule like the Princesses did?" Eris asked
"The PRINCESSES turns here enemies to STONE. Do you want a ruler who has a good laugh, or turns others to STONE?" He questioned back to his son.
"Well.. You made a lot of ponies suffer because you wanted payback on the Princess. Doesn't sound like a good ruler to me..." Eris responded.
"ENOUGH! I will not be treated like this by my own son. Now, go to your room!" He snapped, and the place around Eris and Discord became a bedroom "Now STAY HERE. Daddy has some chaos to cause." Discord disappeared.
"This was a bad idea... I wish i could make this right again." Eris pondered some more "Or can't I?"
